We were spending a few days at universal studios with some friends and this restaurant was on their must-done list. Although it's a British pub-style restaurant, it reminds me of a Biergarten. The food is definitely "Brit" and if that isn't appealing, this isn't the restaurant for you. I ordered a beer and fish and chips. The fish and chips were good, but I surprisingly LOVED their tartar sauce. (I was full prepared to douse it with malt vinegar for a traditional meal, but changed courses after tasting their tartar sauce). I don't like pickles or relish and normally tartar sauce is off-putting. Theirs was really good. We visited Finnegans the next day and their Fish and Chips weren't as good as the Leaky Caldron. Why 4*? For what you get, it's a little expensive. But, I guess that's "normal" for theme park dining. read more

Harry Potter themed sit down service restaurant. Came here for dinner and you have the option of ordering ahead of time via the Universal app, or ordering at the counter. Either way, you need to order prior to being assigned a numbered table. Credit cards are accepted. They do serve alcohol. It is good for big groups and children. The food was pretty bland, but the atmosphere was really cool. We ordered the fisherman's pie and the toad in the hole to split among three people. The sausage was really dry and the Yorkshire pudding was overly cooked. There were a ton of potatoes on top of the fisherman's pie, but I did appreciate the salmon inside the pie. It's all indoor dining and it definitely feels as though you're in the pub. read more

For being theme park food - you can't complain if you don't like the chicken fingers and burgers you get everywhere else. We did a Cottage Pie and Guinness Stew and a side of fries to share to get a snack. The bread bowl the Guinness stew was in could have been better, but it was fluffy and the stew was good. Cottage Pie was good. You seat yourself and order from the table with the Universal app and then scan the QR code from your table. Staff was friendly - side tables are a bit darker and the center has some strewn sunlight in the day, but you're still immersed in the world of Diagon Alley - pretty well kept and clean. read more

It's not just Harry Potter excitement and nostalgia, I actually really enjoyed my meal at the Leaky Cauldron! My mom and stepdad enjoyed their dishes (vegan Shepherd's Pie for my mom, fisherman's pie for stepdad), but my Plouhgman's lunch?! I would have eaten it the next day, except that we were at the other park! What's not to like? Cheese, Branston pickle, beet apple salad, side salad, pickles? And loved the beverages too! We had a non-dairy butterbeer (our first in the park) and fishy green ale - both were great. It was amazing to eat at those long tables in the Leaky Cauldron, like a childhood dream occurring in real life! The wait wasn't too long to get a table, and we ordered on the app and the food came pretty quickly! Overall, what a fun meal. And that Ploughman's?! I solemnly swear I'm up to no good! It was a veritable delight to dine at this famously known watering hole from the Harry Potter series. I visited the park on a Sunday where crowds were paramount. There were muggles everywhere really. There were 2 staff members at the entrance of the restaurant fielding questions. We finally decided to get in line after downloading the Universal Orlando app and signing up for the restaurant queue. We then got in line and patiently waited our turn. FOOD / DRINK: Orders placed thru the app. A table number is assigned when one becomes available. The food and drink will be delivered by the staff when available. My friend and I chose rather quickly: 1 order each of fish and chips and frozen butter beer. The food was ok. It served its purpose: lunch. The portions were much smaller than I expected them to be honestly. As there were barely any "chips" on the plate, it should have probably been called "fish and chip" or perhaps just "fish". THEME / ATMOSPHERE: Oh gosh!! Dining at The Leaky Cauldron was amazing even if the food was not. I felt I had stepped onto a movie set! The details are amazing, accurate, and incredible. BOTTOM LINE: This muggle did not enjoy the food, but I'm glad the magical community is able to enjoy the food and drink at the Leaky Cauldron. read more

Had a late lunch, 3ish and there were lots of tables. Ordered on the universal app, food was quickly brought to the table and was delicious! Squashed lemon was a refreshing lemonade, definitely not from a powder!!!! It was great on a hot afternoon. The scotch egg was new for us. While maybe not my thing, it was good. Something I think you should give a go for British fare. It's served with a relish of dill pickles, pickled onions & beets and a mustard sauce. Flavors I never would have put together, but we're good. Fish and chips, were maybe the best I've ever had. Overall, nice cool place to grab a late lunch. The Leaky Cauldron is a must-see for Potter fans. The menu is British fare, so if you aren't a fan of fish and bangers and mash, then you may want to come for breakfast where traditional British and American dishes are served. Dining at this establishment is all about the ambience...it's a chance to feel part of the Harry Potter movies! Even if the menu doesn't appeal to you, it's worth it to go in and order a pumpkin juice or butterbeer to be able to enjoy the space! read more

The perfect place to dine-in if you're near diagon alley and even if you're not! LOCATION & DECOR: Inside of Diagon alley next to knockturn alley. FOOD & DRINK: Fish n Chips is my go to. They have bangers and mash which is their variation of sausage and mashed potatoes. PRICE: About $15 per person for a meal that is really filling and I'm 6'4" & 195 lbs. SWAG/AMENITIES: Indoor or outdoor seating, restrooms STAFF & EXPERIENCE: Always a good time stopping in here. Staff is friendly and kinda spooky at times, and that's part of the draw. Just like the Three Broomsticks in Hogsmeade, The Leaky Cauldron feels EXACTLY like what you would imagine it to be in the movies and books! It was incredible being able to dine here and really immerses you into the wizarding world! I also got my first butterbeer of the trip here - YUM! I'm a frozen butterbeer kind of girl, so I'll always recommend the frozen kind. There are a ton of other beverage options as well here if you don't want butterbeer and obviously a ton of other places throughout Harry Potter World, both Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade where you can get butterbeer at a different time if you want. The Leaky Cauldron also has someone stationed at the door asking you to please place your food order on the app first before going in to sit down as a way of crowd control, so make sure to have the Universal Studios FL app downloaded prior to even entering the park that day! I opted to get the children's meal of fish and chips because I wasn't too too hungry at the time when we sat down to eat and this was the perfect amount for me in addition to my butterbeer. Everything my friends got looked delicious and we had a great time here just getting off of our feet for a bit, out of the sunny weather, soaking in the ambiance, and refueling before setting out for the afternoon. As a Harry Potter fan, I was pretty excited to come here and to learn they had some good gluten free options. I ordered the Speciality Chicken Sandwich on a gluten free bun. It came with potato wedges which I was happy about. It was pretty good as expected. My food also came out immediately compared to my friends who had to wait longer. We came during a quieter time (Halloween Horror Nights) but I'm guessing the wait is longer during the busy times. In addition to the sandwich, I ordered the Butterbeer which I love every time I get it. read more

The Leaky Cauldron probably would not be one of my first picks for going to eat while at Universal, but I am a huge Potterhead and went here for the novelty of it. The dining area itself definitely imitates what it's like in the movies and makes it seems like you are in another world. Upon entering, you have to stand in line to get a table number assigned to you. While in line, you can order in the app or wait until you get to the front and order at the registers. I definitely recommend ordering through the mobile app to make things easier. We got the butterbeer, bangers and mash, beef lamb and guinness stew, fish and chips, and the butterbeer potted cream. The wait to get our food was incredibly long even for the butterbeer which is just a drink. I'm not sure what was going on, but we definitely saw other people getting their food before us even though they were seated after us. My friend even had quite a bit of time to shop around while we waited for our food. The food was a-okay. Nothing really special. The food is exactly what you would expect. The only thing I really didn't enjoy was the stew. The bread bowl was extremely thick. The bowl itself could have been toasted or heated up and that would have made it tasted significantly better. If you're on a time crunch and trying to do everything at Universal, I'd pick another place to eat. Otherwise, I would eat here for just the atmosphere because it is pretty neat. read more

Very disappointing. Being annual pass holders at Universal Hollywood we tried everything on the item at The Three Broomsticks there....and the menus are pretty much identical so the disappointment here wasn't necessarily the food (which was pretty much the same) but the fact that the decor inside the The Leaky Cauldron pales in comparison to the Three Broomsticks. There is an area where you can order and then just this long open rectangular section with rows of seating like a mall food court. IIRC they didn't even play any HP music inside. The Three Broomsticks on the other hand actually looks like an old english pub inside with lots of decorations and HP music playing...it's much more magical and I would definitely suggest eating there instead since the menu is pretty much identical. read more

The ole English Traditional breakfast hit THE spot! Fresh scrambled eggs and sausage links were the only two common things this southern fella of dang near 40 even considered to be normal showing up on a breakfast plate, BUT, I've always been a fan of trying new things any chance I get! A foodie through and through, the more authentic the better and even though I've never been to England I felt like this was about as close as I'd get to sampling traditional British breakfast fare. The black pudding (different, but decent), English bacon (we call it ham), baked beans (usually served with BBQ), grilled tomato (nice twist), and sautéed mushrooms (a favorite no matter the cultural version) and breakfast potatoes were quite a stretch from the typical ham and cheese omelette or biscuits and gravy I usually have when I'm out of town, but let me tell ya, they did not disappoint! Delicious, delectable, and delightful....I was pleasantly surprised at how well all the flavors complemented each other. The serving sizes were legit too. Even after walking hundreds of miles by lunch, I still felt full and satisfied. As for the ambience and decor, it's exactly what you'd expect at one of the world's most popular theme parks. Felt just like I was in the middle of Harry Potter movie. The design, both architecturally and interior, were pure Potter perfection. I could've stayed staring at the walls four hours! Every time I looked around I found something new that caught my attention. It was was dimly lit (but not to the point where I couldn't see my plate) and loud as the lunch hall at Hogwarts, but what do you expect??? I mean, it's a huge attraction. I gave four stars simply because of the wait time. I get it, they're super busy, but despite any of that it shouldn't take an hour or close to it to have our table of five served. The menu isn't that extensive so it's not like they're not cooking the same plates over and over and over, ya dig??? Overall an excellent experience and one I'm sure to ALWAYS remember. If you're a fan of HP and you're at Universal, I don't see how you could even second guess dining at The Leaky Cauldron. read more

Two words: BUTTER BEER You have to try this drink! I am not a fan of root beer or butterscotch but before we left Universal (5 days) we had at least 5 each!!! BRING YOUR OWN STRAW IF YOU DONT LIKE PAPER ONES! You should download the app and pre-order! You get to jump the VERY long line and they seat you almost immediately! The jealous looks were worth it Ate here twice in 5 days and got the same dishes both times, yes they are that good! The adult fish and chips fed both girls but they also had frozen butter beers. I had lamb stew while my husband got the bangers. He loves his bangers and mash and I hate to say he did not like these! Not sure why there are so many low ratings here. We loved it. Be warned, it has a sort of "London" slant to the menu. So, no cheeseburgers or chicken strips. That said, the fish and chips were delicious. The grilled chicken sandwich was good too. Daughter had kids Mac and cheese -- also good. The butter beer was tasty. We had the frozen and a side of the ice cream. Tastes kind of like cream soda, but sweeter to me. We liked it. The fish was excellent. It was hot, as were the fries. No soda available at this restaurant. The ambiance is amazing. Definitely download the app and place your order that way. Then, find a table and add it to your order. Then they bring it to you. Stopped in around 8pm for a late dinner after a long park day. We got two fish and chips for our kids. They proclaimed them delish and devoured them. Husband and I split the mini pies (a meat one and a fish one) and an order of scotch eggs. The pies were pretty good and then came with a decent salad. The scotch eggs were yummy. Eggs were a bit over done. Should be a little runny inside but OMG the mustard that came with is zingy !! It has a decent amount of horseradish in it and man it was so dang good !! Had a wizard brew ( a dark porter beer) and a dragon scale (a red ale). Both were pretty good. Kids each had a bottle Of Gily Water. (Idk what that was to be honest). Dinner was around 100.00 for four of us. Not too bad since we were eating in the theme park and dang the food was delivered fast !!! read more

The chicken sandwich was really good! I was actually very pleasantly surprised. Typically park food just isn't good, but I would happily eat this entree again. It was flavorful, and the chicken was fresh and not dry. My boyfriend ordered the banger sandwich, and he liked his meal as well. The sticky toffee pudding wasn't my cup of tea (I prefer the dish at Gordon Ramsay's restaurants instead). I would not order it again; it was stodgy and claggy, like underbaked cake that's not been aerated enough. The lemonade I ordered (named something else on the menu) was lackluster, and I probably wouldn't order it again over frozen butterbeer. Overall, I would go back to eat the chicken sandwich. We didn't have to wait more than 5 minutes around lunch time we went, and we didn't have a reservation. I disliked the ordering system (using the app and QR code on the table), but it's an unavoidable trend even outside of Universal. I would not go back for the theming alone, as I felt it wasn't enough to warrant a second experience. I would probably wait 15-25 minutes to eat here. Otherwise, I would go to Three Broomsticks (in other park) for their fish and chips or Mythos. read more

The food was good and the wait wasn't too long. The staff was there, but that's about all I can say. I didn't really interact with them and they didn't interact with us. And that brings us to my issue with this place: This was meant to be part of the "Harry Potter experience", but there wasn't really any Harry Potter to it.... The staff had uniforms that may have been associated with the film but I didn't recognize it. Disappointing to say the least. The English breakfast was okay though the portions were very small and as I was on vacation, I had one of their park exclusive IPAs at 9am, which was nice. read more

Gross food! They serve salty and dried roasted chicken. Even after I spoke to who seems like a supervisor (black woman) nothing was done about it. She just hurried me to choose another meal, no apology. It's like eating cardboard chicken dredged in salt. The sticky toffee pudding is not made of cake, but bread - very disappointing. Their pies and warm butterbeer is good. There is no service and they don't give out Togo boxes- at least that is what my son was told. Also, don't use the self order option if you have an annual pass. It doesn't have the option to give the discount. Just buy food from other street food carts as this place is not worth visiting unless you want to gag and ruin your appetite. read more

Leaky Cauldron in Diagon Alley has more food variety compared to Three Broomsticks! Naturally this side of the park is busy but thanks to the Universal Mobile app you can pull up the menu and pick and choose what you want from drinks, sides, entrees, desserts, dressings, or any requests to hold off on any fixings. The app can glitch so if that occurs log out and log back in. The drink choices are pretty unique! Went with the peach fizz and fishy green ale. Very sweet!! Took a little bit to get used to but out of the two liked the peach tea drink. For entrees I went with the classic chicken sandwich where the wedge fries were nice and toasty. The chicken itself was a bit dry so loaded up on the HP sauce and splashed some malt vinegar on my wedges. My sister got the pie of some sort it looked pretty simple and filling with a fresh salad on the side. One of the few places to eat at Harry Potter world. Mainly comfort English food. Tried a wide variety of dishes including scotch eggs, shepards pie, and beef/lamb guiness stew. Pros: the interior is very cool with a cauldron prop and the service was quick. You order with an app on the phone and is pretty efficient. The butterbeer ice cream is delicious and probably the best thing on the menu. Cons: flavors were basic and subdued. English cuisine in general can be lacking in flavor. The ambiance alone is worth a visit. Conveniently located near the entrance of Diagon Alley, this can be a good first stop where you can grab breakfast before checking out the nearby shops and attractions. Note: Once you place your order at the register, you're assigned a table number and will be seated based on availability. That being said, expect a long wait if you have a large party looking to sit together. I visited the Three Broomsticks in Hogsmeade 10 years ago and wanted to try the Leaky Cauldron in Diagon Alley! Food is essentially the same but there are more fun beverage options. When you go inside, someone will tell you which line to get in. You order at the cashier and they give you your drinks. Someone else will take you to your table and shortly after food is brought to you. It's a very streamlined system that they definitely have figured out! Yes, I have tried the butterbeer, so I wanted to try a different drink. The fishy green ale is fantastic, I think it's better than the butterbeer! It's green and murky to look like swampy water and tastes a little sweet with a dash of warm spices like cinnamon. It has a fruity flavor and fun popping boba and jelly pieces at the bottom. Bangers and mash (~$14): 2 sausages on a bed of mashed potatoes and gravy with veggies. Sausages are ok, cooked and seasoned well. Potatoes are smooth and actually pair well with the sausage. Veggies are a mix of carrots, broccoli, and turnips and there's also peas, all of which are kind of bland but the salty sausage offsets it. Fish and chips (~$17): fish pieces are kind of small but cooked very well. My dad said he really likes the fish and chips from Culver's, which has larger fish pieces but is $15 so price is actually not terrible. Chips are salty and crispy. Butterbeer potted cream (~$5.50): oooh I could eat this all day. It's like a creamy pudding in texture and flavor is like caramel. Not overwhelmingly sweet so I had no problem finishing it off after the bangers and mash. Sticky toffee pudding (~$7.50): caramel filled and topped with ice cream, this was more sweet but very yummy. Service is great and interior is beautiful. Definitely a fun place to visit while you're in Diagon Alley! read more

TLDR: Good food, amazing ambience (especially if you are a HP fan) but wait times are really long! While in the Wizarding world of Harry Potter, you have to experience dining at the leaky Cauldron. Designed to reflect as in the movies, this dining hall themed eatery is a fun place. Due to this it is also one of the busiest joints and at peak time there was a wait time of 45 mins to just order the food. The food though arrives quickly once ordered. Although famous for the butter beer (a little too sweet) their local draft beer is good too. Food was okay-ish, nothing too great but at the end it was a fun experience. read more

The Leaky Cauldron was the worst of the amusement park food we ate on our 2 day Universal/Islands of Adventure trip. While they do sell butter beer (hot is my preference), the food was just abysmal. The scotch eggs were dry with an unusual horse radish sauce. The split pea soup was disappointing and the salad had a few wilted pieces of greens. We also tried the potted cream which was an overly sweet cream in a jar. I definitely wouldn't come back to eat here given all the other options in the parks. read more
