The Leaky Cauldron is one of those places I find myself coming back to every time I'm at Universal. The fish and chips are always really good, and I've learned that the kids' portion is honestly more than enough food for one person. It's a great value and still leaves me completely full. The atmosphere is a lot of fun, especially if you're a Harry Potter fan. They did a great job with the theming, and it really adds to the experience. During the hot Florida summer, it's also the perfect place to step inside, cool off in the air conditioning, and take a break from the heat. One of my favorite things is that you can sit down at your table, mobile order your food, and have it brought right to you. It's so much easier than standing in line waiting for your order and then trying to hunt down an open table afterward. It makes the whole dining experience much more relaxed and enjoyable. Can't believe it took me this long to review the Leaky Cauldron, but if you're a Harry Potter fan at all this place is a dream to see and sit in- it looks EXACTLY like in the movies it's crazy! They offer a unique set of food on the menu, all English inspired and food common in the HP world & books. Cottage Pie, Shepherds Pie, Fisherman's Pie, all the savory pie entrees. Bangers & Mash, Fish & Chips, scotch eggs and some other options. They actually even serve breakfast in the morning if you're at the parks early enough. But the thing I'll come back here for that hopefully they'll keep on the menu long term: butterbeer potted cream. Ooooh my word! It is incredibly, teeth-achingly sweet but boy is it a fantastic dessert. If you've never had potted cream, it's kind of a creamier, richer pudding type dessert, And then imagine it in butterbeer flavor and it's just wonderful. A very popular restaurant located in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Universal Studios. The main restaurant is supposed to be similar to the famous pub/inn from the Harry Potter books and movies. The atmosphere was so realistic. I really felt like I was in the wizarding world. The menu stayed on theme featuring English pub style food. Keep in mind it is theme park pricing, but even I found it expensive. I wanted the fish & chips so I ordered the kid's entree version of it. It was still a good sized portion, came with grapes, and was half the cost of the adult sized version. The wait time is not fun - especially if you're hungry. My friend and I went a little after 12:45pm and the line was out the door. Once you get inside, there is another line with an employee seating people based on party size. It was about a 30 minute wait in line for our party of two. And when you sit, you're directed to order your food on the theme park app. From there, the food took about 10 minutes to come out. You seat yourself, do the Universal mobile app order, tell them you have arrived, put your table number in and they bring it to your table for you. There were two vegetarian entree options: vegan curry and Shepherd's pasty pie. All three of us got the Shepherd's pasty pie entree that had meatless beef crumbles in it. It was filling, had vegetarian protein and delicious. It was needed for a vigorous day of walking around the theme park. The portion size was large too my sister almost couldn't finish hers. I love when theme park restaurants aren't afraid to step outside the norm and give us dishes that truly match the theme. The best thing on the menu hands down is the vegetarian pie. I was so surprised it used faux meat because it was the most flavorable. My entire family ordered different dishes, and everyone agrees the veg pie was the most flavorable and tasted like a delicious home cooked meal. The butterbeer clotted cream was a close second. I could eat that all the time if I could handle sugar. The scotch egg wasn't dry, and the other dishes were all classic and well done. They also offer some fun drinks only available at their location. The lemonade came with entire lemons in it and was so refreshing and tart, not sugary at all. I am always so impressed when I eat there. The seating varies. You wait to be seated if it's busy, so you are then assigned to sit with other guests in long tables like the ones seen in the Hogwarts main hall, or you might get individual tables. The long benches are actually very comfortable and they give you plenty of room to fit yourself and your food (plus any merchandise you might have) between you and the next guests. You order using the mobile app while in line waiting or while at the table. Once you're sat, there is a barcode with the table place you are at and you will then submit your mobile order with that table number. I am so on the fence here. I want to give a better rating simply because they offer a decent vegan option. Yay. Legit. The vegan curry is not bad. What's bad? The employees yelling at everyone. It's not appropriate. It doesn't seem to fit the character of the theme, like I don't think it is a gimmick. I think they are just grumpy telling people to follow unknown rules over and over. Maybe some signage explaining to customers what to do would be helpful. Or one of those moving posters speaking to us explaining the rules here. Either way, better than rude, exasperated staff. The immersion is definitely here in the restaurant from the costumes on the employees to the way the restaurant is decorated, you'll feel like you're eating as a wizard. Some of the QR codes on the table do not work so be aware of that when ordering. Make sure you have the app installed on your phone just in case. The Scotch egg wasn't very flavorful. It's one of those things that you can try once and you don't need again. The sausage roll had a surprising amount of sausage in it. It went really well with the Dijon mustard from the Scotch egg plate. I'm not a fan of spicy you mustard. I do wish there was an option that you could pick the kind of mustard that came with the sausage roll. Since we came for breakfast there wasn't much of a wait so we were able to sit ourselves. The food did take a little longer to get to us but it was still hot so I wasn't upset. I prefer the food not to be pre-made and cold when it arrives at the table. OMG, I'll be so honest right now... I had no expectations for Leaky Cauldron & thought it was going to be like your typical sorta-lame amusement park food BUT NO! This was pretty solid for park food. I would say within minutes after ordering via app. Now, don't expect the food to be piping hot or anything because I'm almost certain everything has already been made ahead of time and just reheated. Made a stop with the family and it was all that I wanted it to be. To avoid the crowds we had planned this to be our dinner and it really worked out. The crowds seemed to thin in the evening and around 7pm the place was practically empty compared to what it was at lunchtime. Mobile ordered and it was brought to the table. The food is quite good. The mini pies is what I chose and it was ok. Not bad but not as good as I had hoped. The potatoes weren't as good as I had hoped and they kind of made it a mid experience. Very disappointed The ambiance is ok ok, and the tables are too close and seems super crowded at the peak times. Ppl can barely manage to sit/leave without bumping into the other tables. The place charges $17 for a grilled chicken sandwich, which had the topper of the tomato making everything slip out. The cook just puts the ingredients together and sends the tray out to serve. The servers have no clue about anything other than bringing the trays out to the tables, and most of the time are super confused which table!!! They said that fish and chips are popular dish, turns out the fish fillets were over battered making it a fried doughy blop of protein. No flavor whatsoever! Would recommend skipping it for dining, rather the other vendors parked outside had so much good food being served promptly. read more

For theme park food, this is solid. You're gonna pay theme park prices, but the food itself was really tasty. I got the Guiness stew and my husband got the Shepherds pie. We also got a banger and scotch eggs to try. We also both got the specialty non-alcoholic drinks. The way this works is you wait in line to be sat at a table, and then once you are at the table, you order from a QR code. This wasn't my favorite process because it's really hard to customize or ask questions about the order before you do this. If there was a way to order with an actual server, it wasn't very clear. When we were sat, I initially wasn't crazy about the table that they put us in (the seats did not have backs). But they were able to change our table location that did have seats with backs, so that was nice. Overall this is a solid place for food, especially if you want to stay in the Harry Potter confines. It really does feel like an old British pub. This is a large, spacious restaurant. It's popular and almost every seat was taken during our visit. Our party of five was able to get a private table. The cuisine is British (e.g., fish and chips, bangers and mash, ploughman's lunch). Here's what my wife and I tried: Beverages * Butterbeer ($8.99) - a non-alcoholic sweet drink reminiscent of shortbread and butterscotch; served in a souvenir cup * Hot Butterbeer ($8.99) Entrees * Mini Pie Combination ($18.99) - mini cottage pie and mini fisherman's pie served with garden salad * Scotch Eggs ($13.99) - hard-boiled eggs wrapped in pork sausage, dusted with bread crumbs and fried; served warm with apple beet salad and mustard sauce Dessert * Sticky Toffee Pudding ($8.49) I loved the Butterbeers, both cold (default) and hot. The hot version is interesting and worth trying. It's not carbonated, but has the same sweet, yummy flavor and rich, creamy texture and mouthfeel. I ended up having two cold Butterbeers and one hot Butterbeer in the same afternoon. I was sick of Butterbeer after the third one. The Mini Pie Combination is good to get because you get to try two of the Leaky Cauldron's pies. The cottage pie consists of beef and vegetables baked in a potato crust. The fisherman's pie consists of salmon, shrimp, and cod baked in a potato crust. Of the pie combo, I only tried the cottage pie and it was tasty and savory. I would happily eat a whole one ($17.99). The Scotch Eggs hit the spot. The entree came with two eggs, each split in half. The various accompanying salads were fresh. The Sticky Toffee was delicious. It was like Harry Potter's version of a Cinnabon cinnamon roll. Yum. Service was good. All around, I thought the staff was nice and did a good job considering the circumstances. They were constantly busy and stressed to varying degrees. One of our party members has Celiac disease and another has a peanut allergy. One of the Leaky Cauldron chefs came to our table to clarify our orders, sensitive to the disease and allergy. We appreciated that. For example, he made sure to prepare our friend's Specialty Chicken Sandwich ($15.99) with a gluten-free bun. Admittedly, if this was a standalone restaurant and pub that wasn't associated with Harry Potter, I'd probably rate it only three stars (OK). I'm SO glad I found this place. All I wanted was a butterbeer during HHN. First of all, Diagon Alley is very easy to miss. There's a facade of a Harry Potter area that looks like just a facade-it's not. Go through and you'll find the whole area. When you first get in, there's a butterbeer stand that had probably 30 people in line. I checked the universal app and found the Leaky Cauldron. I walked maybe two more minutes and there was nobody in line. I was able to get my frozen butterbeer without wasting time in line. If you haven't had frozen butterbeer, it's heaven. Do yourself a favor and try it next time. It's a must every time I go to universal. The entire Diagon Alley area is mind-blowingly well-done. A most charming dining experience indeed. However, I must confess... whether due to some mischievous hex or merely my own treacherous digestive system, the aftermath was far from magical. The Scotch Eggs, in particular, left me in such a gaseous state that, whilst perusing the gift shop, an unsuspecting patron believed some poor soul had suffered a most tragic accident in the loo.
