    Brunch special!
    Amanda L.

We were drawn in by the colorful and cozy atmosphere, and wow--we are so glad we happened to find this place! The mint tea was refreshing, and everything we tried was so fresh and perfectly balanced. I ordered the special brunch and was stunned by how much food was on the platter. My husband enjoyed the combination of pomegranate seeds with the beef shawarma; there was ample pita bread included. This was one of the best Mediterranean meals we've ever had, and we look forward to coming back when we are in the area!

Such a beautiful ambiance. Sammy was very inviting and prepared a beautiful dessert spread and tea time for us. Very relaxing afternoon and all the desserts were delicious, especially the Baklava and knafeh!

A unique hidden gem in a bustling area of Montclair. It is small and cozy and easy to miss but definitely worth the dining experience ! My husband and I went here for Valentine's Day and we were pleasantly surprised! It wasn't overly crowded and we loved that there was no price fixed menu / extra charge ! We ordered Muhammara dip with pita to start and falafel. Both were fresh and delicious . For main course we had the beef shawarma and chicken kabob . It was wonderful, seasoned well , and even the salad was fresh . We also tried their house hot tea which took a while to make but it was flavorful and delicious ! The price is very reasonable, you can tell they make everything fresh and it is authentic . The menu has a lot of gluten free and vegan options which we both loved ! They play nice music and the vibe is relaxed . The server was sweet and even let us change our spot to a more comfortable couch like setting . They are very accommodating and friendly and the food is delicious ! I highly recommend for anyone trying / craving Mediterranean food !

    Stale and tasteless Falafel Waffle

One star for cozy decor and another for friendly service, but unfortunately food fell short and didn't deliver. For appetizer we had beet salad, portion was microscopical and it lacked flavor. For main dish we ordered falafel waffle, which didn't look like waffle rather like ordinary falafel balls. It had stale taste, like made from frozen package and not freshly made. Our overall our experience with Le Souk was very disappointing.

Yes I do, I do recommend this place. The energy in Le Souk is amazingly positive, and the middle eastern decor is fantastic. Hummus: best we've ever tasted. "Monk" Baba Ghanoush: fresh, smoky and brilliant Falafel Sandwich: baked, sauced and seasoned perfectly If you don't know that NJ is the USA's middle eastern cuisine capital, now you know.

This place has amazing middle eastern food, and I highly recommend it! Everything I tried was so fresh and delicious, and the owners are the friendliest people. The monk baba ganoush with pita bread was really refreshing and the green peppers added a nice crunch. My friend and I tried the pomegranate chicken and homemade beef shawarma, both were super flavorful, and the hummus served with each dish was also really good. For dessert we got baklava, which was also amazing and not super sweet either. There's outdoor and indoor seating available, and the decor is really cute. You can definitely count on great service too.

I have been passing this place for years and never noticed this delicious gem! Small but an absolutely one of a kind Mediterranean cafe! They have a great variety of menu options, drinks/teas and even authentic handcrafted bags for purchase. We tried a bunch of appetizers, Baba Ganoush, Stuffed Grape Leaves, traditional Hummus and Falafel! For the entree, we got a Chicken Kabob (which was definitely a great portion for two people). We also got Moroccan Hot Tea, which was so refreshing! This will be my go to local spot moving forward! Must try!!

The owner was so welcoming and inviting as soon as we entered the restaurant. The food was perfectly portioned and tasted home made to those who grew up eating Syrian meals. For those who want a good lunch/brunch it is the perfect place to stop by.

Tiny place with really cute decor. Super friendly service and great menu. Had four appetizers (Mezza) for $20 which was a great and very affordable way to taste a selection of the dishes. For main courses we had vegetarian moussaka, eggplant and beef (fetteh) , chicken pomegranate and another beef dish, (shawarma) Everyone loved their meal. Nice, generous sizedportions (but not enough for leftovers/takeout which was fine!!) They seemed a little unprepared for any sort of crowd on a Saturday night but it was fine because you weren't in a hurry. Only complaint was that it was super quiet when we came in at seven pm-- almost felt like we were intruding. Music came on only after we requested it -/was a wonderful addition to add to the ambience. Music should be on all the time! BYO but they don't have ice buckets so come prepared. Free parking after 7pm. Will come back!

Oh. My. Goodness. I ordered take out from le souk and cannot wait to dine in person. The food is so fresh and full of flavor. I loved every single bite. They even included a little dessert with our order which was also delicious. I can't wait to go back.

I was craving something filling and fresh that wouldn't leave me feeling sluggish and I'm so glad that I came here!! The interior vibe is so nice and the falafel waffles were great!! I appreciated their packaging for to-go items and the service was excellent. It was easy to order my food over the phone and it was ready super fast. Would definitely be returning! Helpful tip: If you are using your GPS to get there, it's right on the corner (on a diagonal entrance). The GPS made me think it was on the block.

Staff was super friendly and food was excellent. BYOB was a nice option. It was a nice night to sit outside.

We shared a lentil soup that was good, though it could have used a squeeze of lemon or something similar to brighten the flavor. The falafel sandwich was delicious, packed with fresh pickles and paired perfectly with a side of baba ghanoush. The chicken shawarma sandwich was also tasty, though it didn't include the same pickles as the falafel. Overall, this was a delicious and authentic spot that I'd definitely visit again if I were in the area.

We got the jebneh, the lentil soup, and the falafel platter with french fries and salad. We started with the jebneh which is basically white pizza. It was pretty mid. I thought the lentil soup would be puréed but it wasn't and it had a ton of onions which I don't particularly care for. This is however a personal preference and not part of why I am giving two stats. The falafel was cooked well but not seasoned well and lacked flavor. The dipping sauce was watery, and could have also offered more flavor. My boyfriend and I went to finish the jebneh and I found a hair in it. Not mine and not my boyfriend's. I called Manouche to let them know and they offered to remake it but honestly the food overall really upset my stomach. My boyfriend also had a stomach ache after the food. The manager who I spoke to about the food was pretty unsympathetic and said she'd double check their processes and that hair was highly unusual. I just didn't love the customer service. Overall, the food even without the hair was mediocre. My boyfriend said the best thing was the root beer he got from there. I don't think we will be going back any time soon.

We ordered a whole range of things including chicken kebab, chicken gyro, tahini cauliflower,…read morelabneh, and hummus. Everything was delicious, but I'll leave the food writing to the Yelpers with more sophisticated palates than I. (Actually, I take that back--the fresh-baked pita was amazing and I would eat it with/for every meal if I could.) The real reason I wanted to leave a review the service, which went above and beyond. Let me start by saying that Al Basha takeout has a wonderfully efficient order-number-based system for managing the hundreds of orders they get on a daily basis. But if, say, the person who placed the order sent you to pick up the food with the wrong order number, you're going to struggle, and that's not the restaurant's fault. With that prelude and without getting into the details, we'll just say there was a user error issue with my order that led to a mix-up and a very late pick-up. Everyone from the Al Basha staff with whom I interacted could not have handled it any better. They were very apologetic, not because they did anything wrong (to be clear, they didn't), but because they were disappointed our meal hadn't gone well and wanted to fix that. The top priority of the manager with whom I dealt was making sure that my wife--it was Mothers' Day--got the best meal possible, and made sure to send me home with fresh bread and a treat for the moms. It was true hospitality, and greatly appreciated. TLDR version: great food, excellent service, out-of-this-world pita, and make darned sure you have the right order number.

The chicken kebab was dry and the shawarma was a bit too sour for my liking (not sure if they squeezed lemon on it or something). The kofta was okay but nothing spectacular. The filet mignon, was a major let down. My server didn't ask how we'd like it cooked, which is medium rare for my family. It came back well done. He said everyone usually prefers it to be well done, but I think that's a mistake that shouldn't be made and preference should always be asked, especially with steak. We asked for it to be swapped, and it still came back well done. When we let them know again, they brought it back a little on the rare side, which is fine for my family, but had it been another family, not so sure. I'm sure they have hundreds of orders for the char grilled meets, so I'm a little confused on why the technique has not already been established My favorite dish had to be the makanik - which is pan seared lamb sausages finished with sweet and tangy pomegranate molasses. I usually don't like lamb because of the gamey flavor but these sausages didn't have that. I didn't taste much of the pomegranate molasses. The arugula & beet salad would've been good if the pomegranate molasses vinaigrette was less sweet. The stuffed grape leaves were also a bit too sour. The lemon was just taking over the entire flavor profile. I didn't really taste the tomato or parsley. The falafel platter was good but nothing different than other falafels that I've had. The mint lemonade was so refreshing. Almost everyone in the restaurant had one and I understand why. The mint is not overpowering I had high expectations because I've seen this place on instagram but I'm afraid they were not met. Service was good, but the food definitely needs some work. There's valet parking, which i recommend because it's hard to find street parking
