Le Rivage in the evening

I was desperately looking for the dessert of my childhood - the floating island (that I used to call boules de neige or bird's milk). I was lucky enough to find it here, on Yelp, with a big picture and a name next to it: Le Rivage. I stopped by on my way home just to make sure they have what I was looking for and check if I needed to preorder it. From the outside, by daytime the place is uninviting. I got in and... a much different story. It is decorated quite old style classy. It was somehow pcked and the clientele was nicely dressed. I was on my work clothes so I decided not to sit in. The front guy confirmed for me that they have the Floating Island every day and Apparently people come to dine there only for that. On an instant I made the decision to come back the next day with my family. Next day, Saturday night, around 8pm we got there. Nice clean table, super friendly and pleasant staff - at some point one of them had a little artistic moment singing from Edith Piaf with some clients. My daughter irdered a salad: small cut, just as we like it which to me shows they care, not made in a rush. My wife got the salmon - very juicy and tasty. I got the lamb shank, which was atypically large, but with a sauce that was to die for!!! Sorry, but no picture of it, since I could not stop from eating it. And finally, the moment of gastronomic climax i was waiting for: l'ile Flotante, the Floating Island was put in front of me. The aspect is a little fancier than what my grandmother was creating for me, but that was 40 years ago... Now, who watched the Ratatouille movie will understand: I was transported back in time to my childhood. The food of the angels. After my first bite I have ordered the second portio . No joke! And I was almost ready to order the third one, but my blood sugar monitor gave me some signals. Don't get me wrong: this dessert is not super sugary. It's actually light, foamy, made with eggs, milk, sugar and vanilla. On the first one, The chef poured some caramel for aspect, but on the second portion I asked without it. Guys, this is an absolute gem, hidden in a regular plaza! Will definitely get back there soon, monitor permitting

We haven't been to a French restaurant in a while. Went to dinner with neighbors and I suggested French. We had been here years ago. Since we live in West Delray and Le Rivage is in east Boca in a small strip center off of Federal highway. Charming small restaurant with 2 dining rooms. They have a complete dinner for $45 which includes choice of appetizer, house salad, entrée, dessert, and coffee or tea, great value. I started with one of my favorites, Escargot in Ceramic Dish and my wife ordered the Lobster Bisque, both very good followed by a nice house salad with a Balsamic vinaigrette dressing. For mains, I opted for one of my all-time favorites, Frog Legs Persillade, not often seen, superb. My wife chose the Bronzini Butterfly Basquaise Sauce, also very good. Both were accompanied by creamed spinach, mashed potatoes, and a carrot soufflé. All great. For dessert, I opted for another of my favorites, Crème Brûlée , very good. My tried the Chocolate Délice with vanilla ice cream , Warm chocolate cake, with vanilla bean ice cream. Also very good. Comes with Coffee or Tea. For a very delightful evening of very good food and service, you must try Le Rivage.

We had an amazing dinner here with our daughter, her partner and our 101 year old friend. Everything from the minute we walked in the door to the minute we left was so wonderful! The staff knows our 101-year-old friend and we're so sweet to her as well as to us. They were attentive, friendly, and professional. You can tell they love the restaurant and act like it's their own. Our food was outstanding and we actually can't wait to go back! Our friend had the frog legs and absolutely love them. My daughter had the crabcakes and said they had hardly any filling. I loved the French onion soup and I also had the shrimp. And my husband had the Barada and our other friend had some fish. We chose the crème brûlée for dessert and it did not disappoint! Everything was seasoned to perfection, was hot when it arrived at the table and was worth every penny!

The food is simply amazing. I tried the salmon, haddock and steak. Everything was cooked to perfection and the presentation was immaculate.

Is the lunch chef as good as the dinner chef?

The only time I went is when they open for dinner at 5pm - so don't know - I know the owner is always there supervising or cooking..

Although it has a beautiful menu of wines and spirits, we stuck to their filtered water, and asked KC for any recommendations for lunch. He was very engaging, a wonderful communicator, and we made our selections which started with the bacon wrapped dates (YUM). Prior to my order, I mentioned a dietary restriction and KC promptly went to the kitchen to make an inquiry. I ordered the trout with lentil ragout, and my husband ordered a margarita pizza. The atmosphere was very peaceful, with unintrusive music, and we really did enjoy getting to know KC as he made sure that we were satisfied with every plate. This restaurant is upscale, yet with value pricing. Altogether, my husband and I encourage you to enjoy a lovely meal, and make sure to ask for KC! You won't be disappointed!

Also loved the atmosphere once again, it's just a very nice, open place to enjoy a meal and have a drink. We got a bunch of appetizers to start. The house made Ricotta with cracked pepper and olive oil was very delicious. I also loved the crispy zucchini slices, which were topped with peppadew peppers and a chili vinaigrette. Outstanding stuff. The seared ahi tuna was next level. The fish was fresh and beautifully seated and the mix of cucumber, aji amarillo, pineapple, cilantro and wasabi cream was sensational. One of the best dishes they make at Sixty Vines. The absolute best of the bunch was the truffle fries! They were amazing. They are basically crispy layered potatoes, almost like stacks of filo dough, fried and topped with pecorino, chives and lemon truffle cream. They were so good we ordered a second one! Considering how wonderful everything was to this point, we were expecting nothing but great things for the next course. However they completely dropped the ball and basically ruined our meal with lackluster entrees. Our party ordered the steak fries with chimichurri sauce, the double cabrenet burger, and several filet mignons. The amount of time it took to get the food was unreasonable. Once the appetizers were finished we had to wait somewhere around 20 to 25 minutes to get our mains, and the place was not that busy. I assume that the waitress just forgot or was busy with something else. As for the food, the quality of the steaks was not good all around. Everybody who got the filet mignon commented that the texture was chalky and weird. They were also all overcooked. And oddly, they decided to slice the steak before serving it, so it was very dry. Why would you pre slice a steak, all that's going to do is let the juices seep out and make the temperature drop. I honestly don't get it. The steak that came with the steak fries, I think it was a skirt steak, was also not the best cut. It was super fatty and a little chewy. The fries were good though but the meat was terrible. Finally the burger was completely overdone despite the person ordering it medium rare. Overall, not the best ending to a meal that started with such amazing dishes. Really striking contrast. And actually it made me think that I probably will not go back to Sixty Vines anytime soon. For a $350 meal they have to be doing a lot better. Dried out, overcooked steaks and burgers isn't going to cut it.

A rare day in Florida with a clear blue sky and perfect temps in the 60's. I started out with Estrella on draft, a lager brewed in Barcelona, while we delved into the many options of tapas. Fitting for a larger group of people to sample the spirit of Spain while relaxing outside to drinks and chit chat. We went with pan con tamate, stuffed piquillo peppers, batatas bravas, octopus à la Gallegos, and garlic shrimp. A flavorful journey into Spain. I finished off with the liquid dessert, a Spanish coffee, and flan split amongst the table. La Terraza transports you with artistically crafted passion. I'm looking forward to adventuring further.

We ate outside and it was delightful. By the time we left the inside was about 75% full and outside about 1/3. The dry white wine from Spain was delicious and at a reasonable price. The empanadas combo - shrimp - chicken - beef - spinach, well honestly, the best I've had in US. Served at the right temperature - hot - overly stuffed- crispy exterior - a sure standout. The white beans with garlic and huge shrimps were heaven on my taste buds. A definite eeorded when returning. And the crème brûlée was served warm and beautifully presented. This is authentic Spanish food. And the owner/chef, Carlos, is from Spain. Not Colombia. Not Cuba. Not any other Spanish speaking country. SPAIN. For real. And he is outstanding. Santiago was our server. Eager. Bright. Knew all the dishes. Made helpful recommendations. He will be our requested server when we return for dinner and a flamenco show. Can't wait! If you're the patron who drives up in a huge Mercedes. Or Bentley. Or Porsche. With a plastic face and a sweater hung around your shoulders, and eat these delicious authentic dishes and complain tha it was so expensive. It should have been less what it was. Blah. Blah. Blah. Stay home. Eat in with food you pickup or have delivered. Review your investments. Don't come here, eat, and then criticize the portion sizes (which are larger than expected), and most importantly authentic and delicious. And definitely don't go to the nail salon across from the restaurant and trash it to your technician,!who could never afford it.
