One of our favorites! We go there every time we are in FL and drive up from North Miami Beach! We enjoy their prix fixe - I like the Scottish salmon or scallops, friends love their escargot and duck with lots of cherry sauce. The onion soup is the Best! Every meal comes with a simple but delicious salad. Each dinner comes with a portion of carrot soufflé, spinach soufflé, and potato soufflé. You can modify this- our friends always get 3 of the carrot. Dessert is delightful - my husband gets the peach Melba (divine), I take their orange cheesecake portion in a box for home, and our friends enjoy the creme brûlée. Dessert spoons are actually cookies. Can be crowded but usually not annoying. In a strip mall but charmingly French inside. read more

The food is simply amazing. I tried the salmon, haddock and steak. Everything was cooked to perfection and the presentation was immaculate.

Food and atmosphere excellent. Good value for quality of food and dining experience. We had escargot, crab cakes which were fantastic and yellow tail snapper. Definitely recommend. read more

I have enjoyed several visits to Le Rivage. But the last visit was spoiled by the waitress asking us to hurray up while we were having dessert. We were 4 people celebrating a birthday. We spent good money on this meal and we had wine as well. When we left there were two people waiting for a table not a crowd. How dare they treat us like that! read more

Food and service were good, but they blew it when they asked us to leave because there were people wailing. Me nows not. It was 9PM closing, no one waiting either in outside the restaurant. A call to the owner ended without an apology or explanation just a hope you return soon,YA SURE. read more

They definitely need to update the decor and maybe the plating, but the food as a whole was really good. I had the escargot, quite yummy. The french onion soup and mashed potatoes needed a lil salt, but that might be bc most of the patrons we saw their can't afford the extra sodium. My husband and I aren't big drinkers but they seemed to have a nice assortment of wine. We had the lamb and it was melt in your mouth good. Overall it was a good dining experience--I would return when I'm older though. read more

Easily THE best French restaurant for the money anywhere in Florida, especially South Florida. Food is top rate prepared by a conscientious kitchen and served by a professional staff. The negative reviews must have been posted by competing restaurants as I find it impossible to believe anything less than near perfection would be allowed to be served. read more

We really enjoyed this restaurant for my daughter's birthday. The place was small and in a strip mall but when you walked in you thought you were in France. All the waite staff were highly professional. The snapper was fresh and delicious. Everything was great especially the desserts. read more

Been here several times for lunch. It's not too busy for lunch, so if you are in a hurry you can get in and out within an hour. The food and service is always always superb. The last time I was there I tried the breast of chicken with taragon. My mouth thanks the chef! I wasn't expecting the chicken with taragon to taste so good! It was flavorful, and the taragon was not overpowering. The meal came with mashed potatoes and creamed spinach. read more

Absolutely amazing! Impeccable service and classic french cuisine. Great 4-course dinner with many options. I had lobster bisque to start and my husband had split pea soup. Both were incredibly flavorful and velvety in texture. Salads were next - fresh with fancy cut veggies and homemade vinegrette. I chose the yellowtail snapper and he chise the duck. Both of us were thrilled with our entrees! Super flavorful, fresh herbs, amazing. Desserts didn't disappoint. I'd highly recommend the creme brulee! read more

Made a reservation four days in advance. When I arrived the hostess was embarrassed to tell us that that only a very small table in the back for two. There was no way of even getting to the table the patrons around us were also amused by this. They refused to give us a different table. even though they had other tables available. The hostess was apologetic but the manager was out right nasty. I have eaten there many times before but you can be sure they will not see me or any of my friends there again. read more

This little gem in a small strip mall in Boca is as good as it gets. If I could leave 10 stars I would. Went for the first time and found this restaurant by chance. We arrived at 7 p.m. and we were seated immediately (having had a reservation for 4). Luckily, we had a reservation because it very quickly filled up at that time. Our first look at the restaurant was that it was clean, cozy and yet elegant. Larger than it looks from the outside. Almost like a geode - a beautiful inside and just ordinary outside having just a storefront in a strip mall. We all chose the $38 prixe fixe dinner. Wow! What a bargain. Nowhere in Boca can you get an appetizer, salad, main course, dessert and coffee for this price. Certainly, not in a Boca french restaurant! The escargot were large and covered with garlic and oil. We ordered 3 additional baskets of bread (delicious) to sop up the garlic and oil and they were delivered expeditiously. The onion soup and lobster bisque were equally as good. Next came a generous salad with a delicious dressing. We were already full. Our entrees were beautiful. I had the braised lamb shank in a yummy gravy. Looked like something the Flintstones would have eaten! And it was delicious, as was the carrot souffle and creamed spinach. My friend had the roast duck with cherry sauce, her husband had the calves liver and onions, and my husband had the duck breast with peppercorn sauce. All generous portions and two dinners were taken home. Everything was cooked to perfection. Next came the dessert. To die for - creme brulee, Floating Island (unbelievably delicious), and apple tart with vanilla ice cream. There are an amazing amount of choices in all categories. Last, but not least, our waitress (I believe her name was Paulette) was a delight. I felt like I was dining with Julia Child!! She was excellent, as was the restaurant and the food. We were not rushed and everything came out just as it should be. One word of caution - Don't go there if you are on a diet!!! WE CAN'T WAIT TO RETURN!! read more

We had our Dad's 90th Birthday Celebration at Le Rivage in June. We booked the entire restaurant, and had a delicious and intimate luncheon for about 60 people. Chef Paul and all of the staff did a phenomenal job in every respect. The food was amazing and the presentation was gorgeous. The menu had several choices for a first course, an entree, and a dessert. The staff was friendly, helpful and competent and the cost was very reasonable. My parents actually had their 60th Anniversary party at Le Rivage 8 years ago. Even though they'd moved Delray Beach, we still chose to come back to this restaurant. Chef Paul helped with the planning and implemented many ideas about how to make this event a success - and it was, in large part because of the professionalism and caring efforts of the Le Rivage staff. Two thumbs WAY up! Many thanks to Le Rivage for hosting our memorable occasion. read more

One of my favorite French restaurants in Boca. Great apps, even better fish. Brought our son and his girlfriend who happens to be from France and she really liked it. Shall I say bravo or maybe tre bien. It will be our first restaurant to go to on our return. read more

I traveled far yesterday to celebrate my best friend's birthday. We tried a new French restaurant who had an early bird special at 5pm so I could start the trip home early. Arriving at 5pm we were the first customers. We were offered the worst table in the corner. When we received the early bird menu and asked questions the waiter cut me off and said I was only allowed 7 questions and had my limit. Laughing I asked another. Was cut off and told again no more questions. My friend kept her sense of humor. The lobster bisque was good, but the flounder wasn't fresh and was not eatable. We didn't let the waiter ruin our special day but the meal was ruined for me. When the bill came I left a 5% tip! The head waiter noticed this and asked if anything was wrong. We both just said we had a very rude unpleasant waiter. Also a very Average meal. Never again. No bargain here and also very unpleasant. read more

For great French fare in an electriic atmosphere, at prices that will not break your IRA this is a great choice. I've been here three times and never been diappointed. read more

After having a bunch of mediocre meals in Boca, it was a real pleasure to have an excellent one. The service was attentive but not overbearing. My food was cooked to perfection. The bay scallop special was subtlety flavored with well seasoned and prepared sides. The sort of package one should expect when paying up to eat out. I do think that the room could use a bit of updating but the quiet and low key atmosphere certainly compensated for that. Look forward to coming to Le Rivage again. read more

Always excellent! The dining room is on the simple side, but the food and service make up for that! Being a former Concierge for Four Seasons Hotels in Chicago, NYC, and L.A. I like to think I know good food and service and Le Rivage has both! Duck, Scallops, Steak Au Pouvrie always excellent! Paul Chef/Owner super wonderful person. Spotless kitchen (I had a tour! ;)) ALL THE wait are wonderful and true professionals!! Thierry, Paulette, Muriel, everyone .... ...excellent!! read more

The one and two star reviews of this delightful French Bistro is deeply puzzling based upon our own experience. We arrived at this strip mall restaurant which opened on a Sunday night at 5 p.m.... we were greeted by a pleasant hostess, who promptly seated the 6 of us at a generously sized round table dominated by a white tablecloth and well placed semi-formal settings.. sort of a Tearoom atmosphere.... The wine menu will satisfy most oenophiles ....the extensive menu offered two types of three-course specials at $24 and $28 each. The choices included many fish, poultry and steak options.... I opted for the $28... 3 course dinner and enjoyed a wonderful onion soup gratinee, which was as good as it gets.... our server immediately offered to put extra freshly grated pepper on the soup. The yellowtail red snapper recommended by our server was overlaid with a Chardonnay sauce was perfection, which says a lot for someone who marginally tolerates fish dishes... again the hostess offered to put extra Chardonnay sauce on the fish ....yes, I think I would re-order this wonderful fish dish over the steak poivre which was also available.... this says a lot because I am basically a meat eater. Many dessert choices were available, but I elected the vanilla ice cream which was served with a chocolate sauce.... I finished up with a well prepared espresso.... the evening was thoroughly enjoyable since members of our party could easily communicate with each other without the usual Boca dining din.... we will return with Great Expectations.... The bottom line is that I did not detect any of the "flawed karma" described by the previous one and two star reviewers. I rate this French Bistro no more than four stars in part because of the strip mall setting. If you're looking for a reasonably priced French Bistro with more than a touch of excellence, Le Rivage is the place to dine. read more

C'est manifique..I've eaten here a number of times, today being the most recent for lunch and each time it has been a delight. As was mentioned in previous reviews, it is tucked away in a rather older strip center, but when you go inside the restaurant, you are greeted with beautifully decorated tables with fresh flowers and fine linens. The ambiance is classic French with beautiful paintings on the walls. Chef Paul when he is not overburdened in the kitchen comes out to greet you as well as the waiters, and that;s just the start. Oh, and did I mention, there was no blaring music to make you a nervous wreck while you were dining. The food is magnificient. The yellow snapper with chardonnay sauce is my favorite, although the crepes are equally as good. Some day, I will try some of the other dishes as well, but for now, the snapper is always fresh as can be and done to perfection. It is served with a carrot mousse, creamed spinach and a dollop of mashed potatoes, nice servings without overstuffing you. I've had the apple tart with vanilla bean ice cream, creme brulee and chocolate mousse and all are a delight to the palate as well. Chef Paul does a great job, consistent in every way and is a fine gentleman to boot. Go there you won't be disappointed. read more

Only gave it 4 stars because of the ambience. Food is delicious and prepared tom order. Nothing is mass produces and everything the 4 of us had was excellent. My only complaint is the ambience. Lighting is much too bright especially with white tablecloths and metal chairs. Lower the light and add some candles and new chairs and it will be perfect. I will definitely return. read more

Went there again for our 35th anniversary, and it was wonderful AGAIN!!!! It is our favorite place in Boca. So very authentically french. Have never been disappointed with anything we've ordered. Our server, Paulette, never ceases to amaze us with how she can keep track of everything at once. Would recommend it to anyone who wants a great dining experience read more

A delightful dining experience! We did not make it to the main dining room à droite but sat in the room à gauche and had a wonderful evening. Olivier made us feel at home and welcome in this unpretentious restaurant that serves classic French food at reasonable prices. The restaurant was full when we arrived and full when we left after 8 PM, and the crowd reminded me of the well dressed older diners who we used to see at Gazebo. The food was delicious starting with the crêpe and scallop, followed by the flounder and snapper, accompanied by a nicely priced bottle of Sancerre. The dessers of Apple tart à la mode and chocolate cake reminded me of our favorite pastry shops in Paris and just as delicious. read more

The favorite dish was the sorbet assortment. Friendly place, great service.

Terrible service. Class F! We came here for my grandparents' 61st wedding anniversary with 12 people and they separated the party at two tables. The hostess refused to rearrange the tables to accommodate us even though we had made the reservation days in advance. She was also very rude and had an attitude - she seemed genuinely offended that we even expected her to do her job and "help us."The food is good but not worth the hassle of dealing with the piss poor staff. In addition, the manager refused to come out of his back office after we requested multiple times to speak with him. Never again. read more

This gem of a restaurant is hidden in a strip mall. You walk in and are taken back by the intimacy of it and its white linen table clothes. The service was impeccable. We had the BEST server ever - Paulette! The food was absolutely delicious! From the appetizers to the desserts (the sorbet was perfect - so delicious and light after a full meal but all else had chocolate mouse and apple tarts with delicious cookie silver!)....really a fabulous meal and honestly the service made the meal even more special! read more

This restaurant is a treasure. Paul ,the owner, is hands on and you can see his magical touch in all the details. I always order the Dover Sole and it is perfection. We also love the lemon Sole ( very light breading) and Osso Bucco ( tender and juicy) - you really can't miss on any entree. The carrot souffle side is amazing and don't miss the cheesecake for dessert. It's so hard to maintain an independent local restaurant these days - Paul puts his heart and soul in every dish. It's low key and homey here- for those of us who don't always need a big scene and just want a nice, delicious meal. read more

The food and service was good...very pricey for the horrid ambiance (or lack there of). Very stark and overly bright with cheesy furniture. Too bad as the food is quite good. Don't think we will return as it cost $325 for 5 people and I expect ambiance and comfort for that. read more

Restaurant has an unusual feel to it, maybe because it's along a row of retail stores. Food lived up to the price, not very good. Staff not friendly, though our waiter was very nice. Remember, you get what you pay for. read more

Tried this place for the second time although first experience was poor....and again...overpriced with lousy service and a really snooty attitude for a mediocre nothing restaurant read more

Le Rivage must have taken a lesson from its snails. Service was soooo slow. Thirty minutes from the time we were seated until the soup and salad were served. Thirty-five minutes after we finished our appetizers we received our entrees. When we inquired about the slow pace we were told that the kitchen was very busy. No attempt was made to apologize to us or offer an amenity. The steak au poivre was cooked well and the au poivre sauce tasty. The house salad was on the small side but with a tasty dressing. I don't think we'll go there again that soon. read more

This restaurant was probably more like 2&1/2 stars. We came here for a family birthday celebration. I was impressed by the service--they were kind enough to squeeze in a party of 16 a week before the event when our other venue closed. However, the food was pretty disappointing. Of the three starting soups, only one was good (vichyssoise). The French onion was weak and very salty, and the lobster bisque was incredibly fishy and had formed a gelatinous skin by the time it was set on the table. My main course, the half duck, was alright but the duck was quite dry. However, the 3 sides were all very good: a small ginger carrot soufflé, creamed spinach, and mashed potatoes. Additionally, the baguette was nice and crunchy (but the butter was unsalted--a big pet peeve of mine). I had the floating island for dessert and it was decent for a few bites but overly sweet. The other thing that brought them down a half star or so was the fact that the waiter actively advised me against several things on the menu because they weren't very good. If the staff is telling patrons not to order a fifth of the menu items it's probably a bad sign. Overall it was not the fantastic French meal I was expecting. read more
