What a disappointment. We had a reservation when we arrived we were asked to seat ourselves. We waited fifteen minutes before we were given a menu which was laminated and dirty. I asked for no salt on my entree when it arrived it was way too salty the potatoes had a hard crust on the top. We asked for the wine menu and were told that there were only five for the whole restaurant. Our server#5 didn't even buss the table someone else was left to do so. When the bill arrived I was told they had taken half off the entree and we were given a complimentary soufflé unfortunately even that was not cooked properly. All in all a terrible experience. Will not be returning read more

Excellent classic French bistro food is increasingly difficult to find as we travel around. We found this gem in the midst of the Mexican food capital of the US. So color us surprised...in the best kind of way. Lunch- an excellent Alsace wine (generous pour), Pate and real French bread (potato chip crunchy on the outside melt in your moth soft on the inside). I had cassoulet st Jacques. A risk I admit, scallops and beans? Seafood in the desert? OMG. I did NOT make a mistake. Hubby had duck confit (at lunch -how European). Served with real Mashed potatoes and a delicious sauce. A little salad greens on the side. We are satiated and happy to have discovered this wonderful restaurant read more

Had a very romantic and, more importantly, delicious dinner here. The Beef Wellington is probably in my top 5 all time favorite meals I've had. I couldn't believe how great it was. 5/5 read more

Flew into town and sought a romantic spot for the evening. This is the best french cooking we have had since Paris. The food and service was parfait and the Chef is friendly and interested in the needs of his customers. Next time in Tucson this is the first place we will dine. read more

I'm originally from Tucson and right now this is the best restaurant I've been to, in my opinion. Everything we had on the menu was fantastic and great service as well. The beef wellington is the best I have ever had. read more

The best food I've had in Tucson. This is a very charming restaurant which looks like nothing special from the outside, but the ambience inside is lovely, the service is very attentive and the food is outstanding. I had the crusted sea bass and raspberry mousse for dessert and it was a truly lovely meal. read more

Came here again, and while the service was better, I had to send my steak back, because it was clearly well done, and I had asked for medium rare. It had also been over seasoned to the point of inedible. The second time was better, and the chef came out to apologize, but I was still very disappointed. The wine glass I received looked like something from a dive restaurant. Cloudy, small and a very unappealing stem. This place is not "The French Laundry", but few restaurants are. However, this place is not even a "Garcon", which is a cozy french bistro in SF with a slightly less expensive menu than rendez vous, but much better decor, delicious food and an impressive wine list. They should really shoot for a Garcon, instead of believing they are a true fine dining experience. That would probably up the stars to 3. read more

Short on service and even when asked to prepare something a certain way due to diet restrictions I had to keep sending it back.

The food was wonderful but the atmosphere and service were below par for a fine dining restaurant. We sat in the bistro part of the restaurant and the air conditioning was inadequate. It was uncomfortably warm until the sun went down. Our waiter was very loud and inattentive. A mistake was made with our soufflés. Instead of offering the incorrect flavor compliments of the kitchen they offered to make a new one which would take an additional 20 minutes and everyone at our table had their desserts. For a $60 single dining experience I expected more. read more

We went to Le Rendez Vous on our 2nd date years ago and loved it. Years later, married, decided to go and loved it again. 2nd time around we decided to take our kids and at first we thought we had made a mistake since it's not a family restaurant per se but to our surprise the staff was super friendly and accommodating. Although the restaurant is now managed by the original owner's family, we received the same attentive service and quality of food as before. You can tell the staff is not used to hosting young guests since they were nice enough to improvise coloring books with a few different color pens and note pads. As much as we felt out of place, the staff made us super feel welcome, we actually had a few chit chats in our very rusty French. They have a very small selection of wine and beers but it was not at all disappointing. Shortly after we sat our waitress brought a basket of freshly baked bread and we proceeded to order starters. We began with a few Stellas accompanied by the Snails in Garlic sauce and some mussels in white wine. The kids shared a roasted beet salad which they seemed to like. The wine and butter sauce was very rich and it could've been paired better with a Pinot Gris but my husband will not eat seafood without his beers. I ordered the Coq Au Vin accompanied with a glass of Cabernet and was a bit disappointed that it was a mismatch. Coq Au Vin is typically cooked with a red wine, in this case they used a riesling. The chicken was very flavourfull asn also very tender which made me suspicious that a young chicken was used. My husband had the catch of the day. The seabass, was oven baked with lemon slices and served with green beans and squash and paired with another Stella. My son ordred the frog legs ( more out of curiosity) which he did not eat once they were served. My husband seemed to enjoyed them. Dessert was a surprise chosen by the staff (and on the house). We were served a delicious grand marnier souffle and chocolate cake. Both were perfect with the chardonnay, my husband didnt seem to mind the tartness of the orange in contrast to his beer. The place has great atmosphere and the staff is super. The meal lasted about 2 hours and felt at home the whole time. Will definitely go again soon. (October, 2016) read more

Our favorite restaurant! The food is great. The service is great. What more can I say? My favorite is the beef wellington, but everything is good here. read more

Write this place off! Was there New Years (early reservation) and we were seated at a table that is usually an isle way. The waiters served and removed over us rather that walk around the table. Oh, and they need to learn that you do NOT remove plates while others at the table are still eating. Any place above McDonald's knows that! The Salmon was bad but the Crab Cakes were garbage. The New Years menus wasn't very - can we say - French too boot. The soups were served in bowls half the size that our first visit had, service awful and food ugly! The price we paid was outrageous for the experience. Never again read more

I am literally shaking right now from how livid I am with this restaurant. This was our first time here, walking in, it is an extremely formal atmosphere. We were the only people standing at the door, for 10 minutes not one member of the staff even looked at us, we were not greeted once, nothing. I expressed my feeling to the man who finally came to seat us, with a very level head under the circumstances. When we were finally seated, this man makes it a point to come over to me and whisper in my ear "next time, as a heads up, it's best to not make a scene in front of the guests." you are kidding me right? We did not stay needless to say, we got up and left before even looking at a menu. I will not be returning. I am appalled. read more

The food here is excellent, but the service is a combination of neglectful and rude. There are a lot of good restaurants in Tucson where you can get good food and good service, so skip this one. read more

Went back to Rendez-Vous recently for happy hour and their small plates. I thought it was great! I have to say that the mini-beef wellington is absolutely incredible. The entree size has the fois gras, but this small plate was seriously just as delicious and perfectly cooked. Every bite was a joy to eat. Cocktails were very nice too and the service was excellent. Total for two people was around $40-50 so much more affordable than doing the full size entrees, which I'd probably order for a special dinner. We'll be doing the small plates again at Rendez-Vous in the future - there's a lot more to try! read more

My mom and I where in town. The first thing on our list was to find a french restaurant and so we did. Found it on one of the gem guides. We get there and already we had issues with seating, the tables where wobbling all over, finally moved to the 3rd table and was fine but we had to move all our plates, drinks etc ourselves (red flag)... I don't know if it was our skin color or what, but we felt something...Waitress greets us and was like rushing us to order. We ordered Pate, coquille saint jacques, garlic custard, stuff shrimp, onion soup, and the mussel which were cold you can tell it was sitting for a little while... After we ate a table next to us order the same mussell dish, to our suprise it came with a small fork and a big bowl to toss the shell....and we got crap!!! The best french food we've had in a long time since living in Tahiti and we are american/french!!! Unfortunately some of the staff perticularly Vanessa just ruined it for this great french restaurant, you folks needs to bring in professionals to wait. Our bus boy and food runner should of been our waiter, not once did she even bother to ask how we were doing.... read more

Went here for an early New Year's dinner with my wife, her sister and husband. Pretty much as good as it gets. Friendly 'greeters' and seated quickly and efficiently; the wine selection is very good (as was the bottle of wine we had). My wife and I split the steak and crab legs dinner, which was excellent. The steak was perfectly cooked and tender. The crab plentiful. The wedge salad was also excellent...cold and plenty of bacon and blue cheese dressing. We'll definitely go there again. We're thinking it will be our go to place when we have guests visiting from out of town. read more

My friend took me there to celebrate my birthday. We were joined by two other friends. Two of us ordered the spinach salad and two ordered soup. Our friends ordered brie and beef wellington from the small menu, I ordered stuffed shrimp and my friend ordered a fish entrée. Before I ordered, I asked what the vegetables were in the stuffing because I don't eat broccoli, cauliflower or Brussel sprouts. The waitress checked with the kitchen and assured me they were not. Our first course appeared, and before we lifted a fork, she and a waiter both came by to see if all was good. We hadn't tasted anything yet. We all liked our first course. Rather than bring the small plates one at a time as requested, she brought them both at the same time. Both liked the brie. One friend had a good steak, but the other was so tough, he had a problem cutting it. My shrimp was luke warm and was surrounded by broccoli, cauliflower and Brussel sprouts! My friend's fish had an over abundance of breading. Not once did a server come to our table after the first time when we hadn't started eating. We ordered grand marnier souffles for dessert when we placed our original orders. We had to wait for them because the server placed the order late. When they arrived, they didn't taste anything like any we had had before. It tasted like whipped egg white and there wasn't a hint of grand marnier. We were given whipped cream rather than a crème anglais. Not good. My hostess was embarrassed that my birthday dinner was so disappointing and I felt bad for her. read more

Le Rendez-vous tonight. Over an hour to get our meal (we realized people who came after us had already eaten their full meal and left), 10 minutes after to get silverware so I can actually eat it (only cuz H chased them down), 2 1/2 hours to finally leave. They did give us a discount for our meal. The food was good...not amazing but good. We were so exasperated we didn't get dessert. Not sure if we would pick them next time we want a romantic night out. read more

Oh, my absolute favorite part of the entire meal was the heavenly Grand Marnier souffle! Adored the fact that they had several small plate options to choose from. Being my first time there, I ordered several of them - - oh, how I love variety. It's been several weeks since I tried this place, so truly don't remember which small plate was my favorite. Can I go back JUST for the souffle!? mmmm. read more

The food was outstanding. We had the beef Wellington and sea bass as recommended by our waitress. started with classic escargots, and the house pate. The our waitress asked if we would like to try the soufflé for dessert after telling her we never had one before she told us it is their signature dessert and was a must try, so we placed our order for the soufflé when ordering dinner because it takes 20 minutes to prepare. Our server was wonderful but overworked. We wished she had more time to tend to us and pay attention to the details that make fine dining fine. I'm a little struck by this whole situation because they were not understaffed there were two buss boys and two waiters, ours and then an older man with glasses. Why was she the only one working so hard? All in all it was a good experience and we will be back, but hopefully next time our waitress gets a break, and someone else can pick up the slack. read more

The Grand Marnier soufflé is fantastic. But pretty much everything else is low quality and overpriced. Everything is coated in butter as the sole "seasoning." There are many higher quality restaurants in town at or below their price point. The service is extremely slow and inconsiderate even by Tucson standards. If we return it will only be for that soufflé. read more

The food was great, but everything else was lacking. We arrived on time for our 715pm reservation for a requested. quiet table for for. Upon arrival, Frank told us our table would not be ready for a half hour and we should wait at the bar. After awhile, when no one took our drink orders, other tables emptied and walk-ins were seated, we asked for another table. Frank told us that customers should request, not demand and that the entire staff was aware of us. (!?!). Eventually we were seated next to a table for eight that took up most of the dining room exit/entry area and was about 3 inches from our table. Result? Every guest entering or leaving the restaurant and/ or rest room bumped into my chair, put their hands on my shoulders to squeeze by or asked me to move. Unpleasant in so many ways, will not return. read more

Very expensive and not worth the money. They ran out of the French onion soup so we had the squash soup which was lukewarm. I had the cabriole which was their fish special. It was a nice size portion and the thin crisp potatoes were good. My husband had the duck which was just okay. The grand mariner desert was fair but he wouldn't get it again. I had the coconut cake and left most of it. The coffee was also lukewarm Friends with us love the place but I think there are better choices in Tucson. The service is very slow although I believe it is due to the kitchen. The restrooms are located in an inconvenient place. Al in all the best I can give it are two stars. read more

Get the small plates! To do that, you need to eat in the bistro rather than the formal dining area. You can also order the regular menu in the bistro. We had the escargot app (a better deal than the small plate), duck, Brie, scallops, beef Wellington, and salmon. All delicious. There was a Yelp deal for a free glass of wine. We basically had French tapas and I would highly recommend the perfect food, flawless service, excellent wine, and nice atmosphere. read more

have enjoyed several special occasion meals and were never disappointed. Bravo!

Had a great meal here with the family. Beef Wellington was excellent. Duck special appetizer. Service was friendly. Would go again.

We went there on a Wednesday. Although they were busy and obviously short handed; the service was impeccable and the food beyond expectations. This is one of the best places in Tucson. Everything was cooked to perfection and fresh. read more

I came here a week ago to try out their new happy hour items. It's actually better than I had expected. All the appetizers were half off and they had some pretty decent drinks for five dollars. I've been in the restaurant industry for ten years now and I understand when a restaurant gets busy, I"m not going to be one of those people who thinks everyone has to stop what they're doing to cater to just me. But despite how busy it was, I was still given the attention I needed. I will definitely go back to try out more food. read more

I would have given this five stars because I think the food is wonderful, but the service was lacking. Our server was snobby and acted like it was a big problem to wait on us. And since it's a pricy place, I think the service should be as good as the food. There were lots of little things, like I had to ask for my water glass to be refilled. Really, if you are going to charge those prices, which I don't mind paying, then the service should be impeccable and you should be treated like they want you there. read more

We went to Le Rendez-vouz for happy hour. Wine choices were wonderful. Food yummy, especially the pate and the mussels.

We have eaten at Le Rendez-Vous several times and usually enjoyed the experience. The time before last we took my mother, especially for the Grand Marnier souffle. As luck would have it, there was a problem with the oven that night, so we weren't able to have the souffle. The next time we went the place was packed. Service was adequate but the ambiance was terrible. The noise level in the back room was so loud we could not carry on a conversation at our table. It was so loud, the waitress got our order wrong because she could not hear my husband's order. I asked to speak to the manager, who did come to our table. I explained that I had enjoyed the restaurant previously but would not be back. The back room is so noisy you can't hear yourself think, much less hear what others at your table are saying. Might as well dine alone, and we all know how that is. read more

We had a wonderful Anniversary dinner choosing from the small plates, salads and desserts. The small plates allowed us to taste many items and still save room for dessert. We hadn't been there in years and will certainly recommend it to our friends who need to rediscover an old favorite. read more

Hidden Tucson gem! While at first look it seemed pricey, we ordered a whole slew of happy hour mini-plates, which were not only delicately delicious, the final check surprised us with how reasonable it was for the experience. Not only was the food AMAZING, but the service was phenomenal. We were treated so well by the staff and made to feel right at home. We are really into French cuisine and this little gem of a restaurant did not disappoint! It is being run by the son of the original owner, 35 years running now. The chef started us off with a basket of warm, fresh baked bread while we had a glass of wine. After a cup of leek and mushroom soup we ordered the Veal Marsala, which was on special. Unpretentious, traditional French cooking at its best. read more

I've only eaten here once for lunch. I had the Mussels and they were delicious along with some crusty bread to sop up the broth. The service was another story though. Our server was only at our table to take the order and then serve it almost 45 minutes later. I never got a water refill. They didn't seem very busy or understaffed, so I'm not sure what the issue was. I'd go back for those Mussels though. Perhaps a little after the lunch rush. read more
