So here is the deal, I made reservations at this restaurant well in advance to start off on the first night of our week long Paris trip. When we arrived, the front desk staff were very friendly, and spoke great English. When sitting down at a table, the waiter was very friendly and helpful. My fiancee has nut allergies and the waiter was very helpful in letting her know what she could and could not eat. Their atmosphere is very old school, and its as if you are eating in an old school Parisian home. Starting off, I ordered their french onion soup, followed up by escargot, and duck in a berry sauce. My fiancee ordered the Coq au vin. She also wanted to order the french onion soup, but the waiter mentioned that she couldn't because they didn't know what ingredients were in it. We knew at that point they buy their food and don't cook it to order. That's kind of bizarre. Regardless, After the first bite of the french onion soup, I knew that this was the best french onion soup I have ever tasted. Then the escargot came out. The escargot turned out to be very delicious, full of flavor, and was very hot. I thought to my self its only going to get better or worse from here on. Maybe this will be the restaurant of my dreams. Both our meals then came out. Hers was very hot. My meal was very cold and mostly undercooked. At that point, the friendly waiter started getting much busier with other tables, and so it was getting harder to flag him down. Finally getting his attention, I mentioned that my meal was totally cold and needed to be reheated. He said sorry and brought it back to the kitchen. Twenty minutes later he brought back my meal, and guess what? It was cold and still undercooked. At that point my fiancee was almost finishing her meal. And my first official Paris meal turned into a disaster. I decided to eat it and deal with it, but wasn't happy. Was there a miscommunication? Was something lost in translation? Or was I neglected because they were too busy? Maybe its because I didn't order a bottle of wine. The waiter then came by and asked if every thing was ok, and if we wanted dessert. I grudgingly stated I'm good, and just bring me the check please. After an expensive bill, its safe to say that this restaurant is probably a tourist trap, and gets so much business that they don't care if they have inconsistencies in their service. Gordon Ramsay could have a field day with them. So I am writing my review here to warn you that maybe you should reconsider this restaurant, paying for cold food is not worth it. If its considered to be the oldest restaurant in Paris, maybe they should hire new kitchen staff. read more
