Mashed potatoes ( served with the skate fish)
Salim K.

When you step inside the restaurant it's like going back in time during the Belle Epoque splendor. The setting is simply breathtaking. Lavishly ornate, Le Train Bleu offers one of the most beautiful dining rooms in Paris, if not the world. It's easy to forget you're in a functioning train station the atmosphere is serene, romantic, and dripping in Old World charm. And at that very moment you start feeling the heat inside ( it was unusually hot for that evening inside the restaurant) and a few sips of cold big bubble sparkling water did settle us down and clam our nerves a bit The menu pays homage to classic French cuisine, with a modern finesse. Anthony and Ali were our hosts serving our table and did a fantastic job. Professional, courteous, and formal; exactly what you'd expect from a historic institution. They were multilingual and made a genuine effort to enhance the dining experience. For our evening, we ordered the Tender leek cake that comes with Tapioca and was absolutely amazing and we definitely took our time with every bite. Along with that we ordered the Skate fish fillet that comes with a side of mashed potatoes, again done to perfection. Lastly, we had the crispy crabmeat served on avocado bed and shellfish mayo that really made our dinner exquisite. Enjoyed every morsel to the full. That said, some dishes can feel slightly overpriced for what they are as you're partly paying for the ambiance. But when the food hits, it really makes it all worth it. Le Train Bleu is an experience in itself. Ideal for special occasions or travelers ( located right in the heart of Gare de Leon station helps a ton) seeking a cinematic slice of Parisian elegance. It's not a casual meal, nor is it meant to be but if you're willing to indulge, it's absolutely worth the journey.

Absolutely stunning decor!! We felt like we were in a lavish French museum. Established in 1901 for the Exposition Universelle, Le Train Bleu is located within the Gare de Lyon railway station . Opulent Belle Époque interior, featuring ornate gilded moldings, crystal chandeliers, and 41 grand murals painted by prominent artists of the early 20th century. These artworks depict various regions of France. The restaurant' earned it the status of a Monument Historique since 1972. We went there for a nice breakfast before starting our day in Paris. I had the Omelette with smoked salmon. OMG, the best omelette I've ever tasted!! Luxurious simplicity--mellow, buttery, tender, and softly savory with a hint of rich Gruyère to coat the palate. My gf had the Baguette and toasted cereal bread, Isigny butter, jam or honey. A classic French breakfast. If I could get baguette and butter this good at home, it would be my classic breakfast too!! Happy Eating!!

What a beautiful venue located inside a modern train station but with amazing gilded and ornate details from the staircase to the massive painted scenes on the ceiling and walls. We did a little research before selecting this place knew they were famous for their crepe Suzette. But before dessert we splurged and ordered the caviar and we opted to share the yummy sea bass in a lovely brown sauce with gnocchi, olives, asparagus and red peppers (not spicy). I highly recommend making this a stop on your visit to Paris for lunch or dinner, before or after your train ride.

This absolutely spectacular restaurant is located in the Gare de Lyon train station. We arrived a little after 4:00 p.m. We told the waiter that we just wanted a drink and appetizers, and he kindly seated us in the restaurant area instead of the lounge. All I can say is . . . WOW!! It is breathtaking and beautiful, just pure opulence. The charcuterie and bread was delicious. However, I LOVED the olives and garlic! The whole experience was just indescribable!

Located at Gare de Lyon, Le Train Bleu is extravagantly decorated in the Belle Époch style. Gilded arches, painted ceilings, & ornate chandeliers transport you to a golden time in France. While the dishes are as sophisticated as the interiors, I can't say the taste held a candle to less fancy establishments we tried on this Paris trip. Each plate was painstakingly made beautiful & the flavor combinations were creative enough to be memorable, but this is a place you visit mainly for the experience & the ambiance. One companion enjoyed her Pâté en Croûte (32 €), another person was less enthused about her cod loin with basmati rice (43 €.) I ordered the roast chicken in brown sauce with eggplant (40 €.) Tough chicken & undercooked eggplant so I cannot recommend my dish. The cheese course (16 € for five varieties) was excellent. The comte, savarin, brie, & camembert were so deeply flavored. I didn't try the goat cheese but I hear it was equally as tasty. Desserts were 19 € each. The pistachio soufflé with cherry sorbet was light & airy, with the pistachio flavor also leaning a little light for our preference. We ordered a Menton lemon cake, of sorts, as the citrus is local to a French Riviera town. Satisfyingly tart & so fresh, we really enjoyed this one. Friendly, energetic servers. The plating is Michelin quality. And the decor is a feast for the eyes. Sure, make a reservation at Le Train Bleu; just balance it out with meals at more casual cafes for a well-rounded taste of what Paris has to offer.

Great experience, amazing service and lots great choices to wine and dine. Perfect evening for couples in a fashionable venue. Bucket list for Paris lovers.

Cheese selection to perfection

Our fantastic server Eli was a hardworking table side chef who made everything while smiling the entire time. As the restaurant got busy, Eli adapted perfectly and we felt very taken care of and attended to. We recommend the Cheese selection for the starter and the series of sorbets as a pallet cleanser. Le Train Bleu lives up to every single part of the hype you see from any given social media platform. The staff is great and can handle this high volume restaurant with ease. The amount of staff members we encountered were kind and sharp with their presentation. My recommendations are that when dining here, you share everything. The scallop dish is my favorite while accompanied with champagne and the beef tar tar is perfection with a solid bottle of Bordeaux. Many menu items are arranges table side and impeccable in their ingredient explanation as you see what the items are and agree to each before they are mixed in. Make your reservations early for this place and if you are arriving to Gare Lyon beforehand make sure you give a 45 minute timeframe as they do have a bar you can position yourself at while they prepare your table and a great valet service to check your hand baggage. The interiors are true rococo and dripping with that dreamy luxury French vibe that you must see in person to experience. Merci Beaucoup, Le Train Bleu! You did not disappoint at all! We shall be back!

Even though we came to the bar, food was good. And desserts were delicious ! We had the lemon pie and the raspberry shortbread which were awesome! Our waiter was very friendly and helpful. The place was quiet and relaxing, for a Wednesday afternoon. We'll try to come and have dinner in our way back, hopefully with enough appetite to try the main course options.

Le Train Bleu was such an amazing experience. I highly recommend booking this restaurant for lunch or dinner if you are new in town. Located at the train station, you are instantly transported into elegant fine dining. We enjoyed the option to be casual at this restaurant considering the amazing service they provided my family of 6 (four adults and two toddlers). The restaurant itself is gorgeous. High ceilings, ornate with detailed paintings and mouldings. The staff moving swiftly through the busy restaurant but with such grace. And the food, THE FOOD, was one of our favorite meals on vacation. I could easily come back. The deviled eggs with caviar was a great appetizer. I shared my sole with my cousin and found the fish to be beautifully cooked. The server de-bones the fish and plates it right in front of you. For dessert, we had a souffle and this gorgeous panna cotta. The kids even enjoyed this restaurant. We sat near a window where they entertained by the trains coming and going at the depot. They loved the ice cream however, they ate the fries and didn't touch their cooked "beef tartar". We know that chicken was on the menu, however, they couldn't give us a kid's portion to serve the kids.

My dinner here was probably my favorite dinner in all of my Paris trip. They were easily able to accommodate my allergy and I got the lamb sans the sauce. I started with the asparagus, which was SO delicious. And also got a glass of white wine. For dessert, I got a bowl of berries. Overall, it was an absolute delight and highlight of the trip. The atmosphere is gorgeous and photo-worthy. The waitstaff is so willing to take your photo and treat you so well. I will be coming back!

Service was horrible, we didn't receive our water for 20 minutes. We ordered the food and it came out looking like microwaveable meals, the presentation was not good. Meat was overcooked. The ambiance was okay. I do not recommend dining here for lunch.

Since watching the movie Nikita a long time ago, I had always been intrigued by this restaurant's gorgeous décor. Finally, my dream came true, and I was so excited to try it! Needless to say, the restaurant's décor was absolutely amazing--not just in the main dining area, but also in the bar area. The restaurant is located inside Gare de Lyon station. We ordered the Provencal Style Pâté and Sea Bass Carpaccio for starters, Roasted Veal Rump and Roast Leg of Lamb with Potato Gratin Dauphinois for the main course, and for dessert, Crepe Suzette flambéed with Grand Marnier and a Lemon Soufflé with wild thyme ice cream. The pâté was just amazing, featuring sweet and sour vegetables as ingredients, making it a delicious start to the meal. The Sea Bass Carpaccio with pomegranate sauce was also excellent, another great dish to begin with. The roasted veal rump was cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious. A standout dish was the roasted leg of lamb, which was served tableside. The server carved the lamb slices and added sauce with roasted garlic--simply an amazing dish. The potato gratin was excellent as well. Another notable dish was the Crepe Suzette, which was also served tableside. The server flambéed it with Grand Marnier, and we thoroughly enjoyed the flame work. It tasted absolutely delicious. The lemon soufflé was good as well, with a nice texture, though the lemon flavor was a bit more tangy than I expected--but still enjoyable. Overall, we absolutely enjoyed the dinner experience at Le Train Bleu. Given its popularity among tourists, making a reservation is a must. I hope to return to this restaurant again in the future!

STUNNING. If you love the Opera House then you will live this for the architecture alone. To be honest, there wasn't a lot on the menu. I'm not the most adventurous eater - I have a stomach condition so I have to be careful, especially when on vacation in a foreign country. Too many unknowns not to mention I don't want my trip ruined. Our meal was rushed, but I think that's how they do it. All the staff were scurriyng along, and moving quickly around the space. It was kid of interesting to see. It reminded me f that scene from Hello Dolly where the staff are all dancing around with plates and things. It felt very old world. Honestly the food wasn't the best we had in France. It wasn't bad but it wasn't outstanding. Again, we had the tamest item on the menu, so something else may be better honestly. But we were there for the experience and the ambiance and the architecture. In all honestly, I would go again just to be in that space. It was THAT BEAUTIFUL. Note, I do not remember seeing a children's menu. I did see a few children, but I'm not sure what the options are for them. And it is the kind of place I would probably not take my own (future) kids until they are older. NOTE: social media will tell you this is formal spot for dinner. Or will tell you to dress up. Even were a gown. This is not the vibe. It is in a train station. It was meant for travelers. It is casual. You will see some dressed up but it's not required and it is not the norm. I was wearing jeans and a noise and was perfectly fine-somewhere between the most dressed down and Morse dressed up. I wouldn't wear leggings but you do not need to wear a cocktail dress either.

Le Comptoir de la Gastronomie - An amazing French onion soup...

The richness of the flavor and the texture which is not reminiscent of the traditional roasted duck or foie gras, but rather a much more like a luxurious and indulgent version. We enjoyed our dinner on the outside of the restaurant after about a 20-30 minute wait. The bone marrow had the best flavor I've experienced for the dish. However, it is definitely overshadowed by the rich flavor of the foie gras. This experience was unforgettable, with our view of Parisian streets on a brisk, April night. We even came back on our last night, but didn't realize the hours on Google maps was for the deli. The restaurant closes earlier, before 9:00 PM. This meal got us thinking about Paris in a positive light, and we hope to be able to come back to eat the amazing dishes again!

They had a number of goods to choose from and I ended up buying a few things for souvenirs. As for the actual restaurant, they had a number of delicious sounding items on their menu. Our server was very attentive to us and helped us decide on our dinner orders. Similar to the other restaurants though. After our food was delivered, it was far in between when we were checked on again. And after dessert it took even longer for our server to bring the bill. Overall, the food was a letdown. I do not exaggerate when I say that the frog legs just tasted like slightly flavored water. My friend's ravioli had a fairly decent flavored sauce but the pasta was a bit chewy. My friend's duck breast was pretty tough; I had noticed the table next to us also ordered it and they seemed to have trouble finishing/cutting theirs as well. As for my steak with foie gras, well the steak was once again tough and the foie gras was weirdly stringy. It was soft for the most part but there were parts that were tough and stringy. Maybe that's a section that's generally separated in the preparation process and it was missed? In any case it was disappointing. What wasn't disappointing was dessert though; perfectly sweet and balanced.

It contains scrambled eggs with your choice of bacon, chicken or salmon, grilled vegetable, salad, fruit salad, fresh plain yoghurt, row ham, hard cheese, goat cheese, pan cake, mini chocolate cake, madeleine, basket of fresh baguette, butter and homemade jam accompanied by a hot drink and a glass of fresh squeezed orange juice. All the products offered were really tasteful and of high quality. Everything seems to be homemade and with love. A nice surprise was the mini chocolate cake: still warm and with a soft chocolate cream inside. The homemade jam was delicious and with a lot of fruit pieces inside. Service friendly and attentive. The only critical point the size of the table: a little bit too small to contain all the food and drinks brought. Overall a really great experience. I deeply recommend to try.

While I love NYC's Buvette, La Buvette is an entirely different sort of restaurant and is my NUMBER ONE recommendation for friends visiting Paris who enjoy natural wine/small plates/a slightly chaotic atmosphere. I make sure to come here as many times as I can whenever I visit Paris, and I've even gone to a La Buvette pop-up in NYC when the chef came last year. I'm definitely a La Buvette groupie. A buvette is a restaurant that sells wine to go and to drink in situ, along with a selection of small plates. While I hate the ubiquity of the term 'tapas' to describe dishes that are not quite entree-sized, you can think of La Buvette's dishes as basically tapas: smaller portions meant to be ordered in multiple and shared over a bottle of wine. The wine selection here is tightly curated and I've never had a glass that I disagreed with -- everything is pretty simpatico if you're into this style of wine, and the staff are quite helpful in steering you toward bottles you might enjoy. In past visits, I've often found myself ordering over half the menu, which is written on a mirror-board on the wall and changes daily. Everything is quite simple, made with excellent ingredients, and quite good. Note: this is not a full-service kitchen, so don't expect an elaborate dinner. Think of this as an appreciation of simplicity and purity of flavor, and you'll have a much better time than if you expect a 10-hour cassoulet or something. Get some cheeses and charcuterie, and absolutely get the big white beans with citrus zest. Savor the flavors. While I'd love for this to remain a hidden gem, the secret has definitely gotten out, and it's not really much of a "neighborhood" establishment anymore. Expect a line unless you get there quite early, and note that you won't have any privacy because the space is tiny, and you may end up drinking your wine standing by a tiny corner of the counter. To me, that's part of the charm, and Camille Fourmont has created quite a remarkable place that I find simply perfect. It's a must-visit in Paris!
