We are literally on day 4 of our trip and its devastating to be stuck in bed and watch your 13 year old writhe in pain and unable to get out and about. We should be enjoying Paris but are stuck inside and horribly uncomfortable. We figured it out in the middle of the night when the pain and discomfort started and then saw a dead bug in our to go box! I'm so disappointed. We are on Carnival Cruise line and we decided to take a tour of Paris. After a great drive seeing many of the city sites we were dropped off not too far from Le Ponthieu were we enjoyed many sites before stopping at Le Ponthieu and deciding to have lunch. With our limited French, which is to say I have not spoken French since the late '80s when I took it in high school and had a few people I could practice with, we got a table inside right away. Would have loved to eat outside but it was pretty packed and we were on a time crunch. The hostess was able to get us seated but we were pleasantly surprised when Jessica came to take my order and asked me if I spoke Spanish. YES I do. We ordered the charcutería board and I was glad she spoke Spanish because we were able to determine that we wanted the board with cheese and meats. It was only later that I realized Planche de Fromages is cheese only and Planche de Charcutería is both meats and cheese. There were two types of pate with the meats and the prosciutto was very delicious and tender; not hard like some of the recent prosciutto we have had recently. We were given a very generous portion of baguette to eat with our Planche. I ordered a Bordeaux while my wife decided to order a Kir. We weren't knowledgeable with Kir but when our waitress explained that it was white wine with a "shot" of liqueur we decided to try it. My wife is not very adventurous with things like this and she absolutely loved it. I asked Jessica if I could try the Bordeaux because I wasn't sure I would like it and she assured me it was very good but did offer to bring me a taste. I decided from her suggestion to try it anyways and she was right, the Bordeaux was absolutely delicious. read more

As my daughter was tired after walking around the Champs Elysees and the Olympic venue sites, I just went with whatever was close. While the reviews are rather binary, my experience confirmed the overall rating. I just got the usual tourist fare: beef bourguignon, onion soup, and some cheese skewers. The bourguignon was barely better than what I could get in the frozen section at home. The beef chunks were small and tough. Sauce was rather plain. Not terrible, just not all that great. The onion soup was a real let down. How could they get this staple wrong? There was barely any cheese on top and the soup was just watered down broth, almost entirely tasteless. Even the cheese skewers were bland. Plus, they weren't on skewers, just 3 strips of cheese on the plate with some meat wrapped around them. The location was great though, just off the main drag. I came here with 7 people. We sat in the restaurant and I started to read all the reveals about bad service and overcharges on the bill. The place was half full at about 11:30 am. There is an English menu. We had an older gentleman serve us. He was very quick and efficient. Did not idle to small talk with anyone. A younger guy came around and helped us translate our order. I personally had the fish and chips and French onion soup. I thought the fish was ok but the onion soup was completely tasteless. I tried adding pepper to it but it was still tasteless. Every thought the food was ok. Nothing to write home about. When the bill can we checked it very carefully and everything was in order. read more

My family and I were visiting Paris for a few days and had a lovely dinner here. The server was so sweet and helpful. My husband and I had some delicious Moscow Mules and our daughter had a tasty "lemonade" which we found out that in most of France lemonade are carbonated lemon-flavored drinks. My daughter and I ordered vegetable pad thai which was delicious, and my husband got the chicken pad thai which he also loved. I had a great dining experience here. Ordered filet de boeuf. Medium level is a like medium rare in US. Be mindful of that. Wine and dessert were tasty as well. The service was brillant. this restaurant was... bad. frankly, i'm giving it two stars only bc i feel bad if i gave it one. we ordered a mixte charcuterie and a couple other small things and drinks that were forgettable. the charcuterie stands out in my mind bc it was awful. i seriously do not know how that is possible in france, but they did it. the cheese was the worst quality cheese we had all trip, it was giving walmart quality... i feel bad even saying that, but i'm only slightly exaggerating. the bread was also somehow not good. but, most insane, was the pâté. it seriously tasted like canned cat food. i have not had canned cat food, but i have had pâté before and it did not taste like what i assume canned cat food would taste like. also, the most annoying american mother-daughter duo sat beside us. i know this isn't the restaurant's fault, but i just had to get it off my chest. the daughter ordered chicken fingers and fries... in france... and she was not 6 years old. the vibes were off needless to say. honestly, you can blame us for choosing to eat somewhere one block off the champs élysées BUT! we were famished and possibly about to have heat strokes so what can one do?! read more

We had lunch at this restaurant and it was great. We got a British breakfast (scrambled eggs and ham), the croque madam which was great and some other assorted dishes. The service was nice and at the end, a younger waiter took over and he was as a French as could be and was very nice. read more

It was our first day in Paris and we were walking towards the Arc de Triomphe and wanted to drop in somewhere for a nice first French meal. Our pick was as good as any since there were placed on every corner, so we dropped in on this place. We were greeted and sat down right away. There were a few business men seated for lunch. Our waiter spoke a bit of English and provided us with English menus. I ordered a Kir and the escargots. Both were ok. I've definitely had better. We also had the French onion soup and the sardines - all were about average and didn't stand out to us, though the escargots were pretty large in size. I've had plenty more flavorful. I didn't think the service was horrible but it wasn't great like some other places. Overall, I wasn't impressed and wouldn't come back here with some many other selections around. read more

This restaurant might be the worst dinning experiences I have ever endured. From the shady owner to the spacey waiter that took hours to serve us. On top of this he kept forgetting to give us our wine and when we asked where it was he charged us again. In the end the bill was off by 5 wine glasses and when we tried to discuss it he angrily swore at us in French. I have never seen someone react so poor in a professional setting. Came across this place after walking around looking for a place to have lunch. Wish I would have gone elsewhere. The main problem was the service provided by the waiter, the guy had a pretty bad attitude towards everybody, was cursing and complaining way too often (not sure why, the place was basically empty). The food was just Ok. We had the fish fillet (small portion but good flavor), the Onion soup (was lukewarm) and the pate sandwhich. The bread they gave for the table appeared dry and old. Don't go here as a tourist, the waiter was extremely rude. My friend asked if they had a drink and the guy literally cut her off and basically threw the menu at her and told her to read it. Then when the meal was done we counted the money and gave him 85 euros for a 82 euro meal, there was 10 euros in change.
