So I used to come here frequently and loved the atmosphere. I would be offered a drink (either hot tea or water), and would enjoy the nail services. But recently, the quality, service and kindness has declined. I tried giving them three more chances and each time was worse. No beverages were offered. Skin was cut into. And on the third final straw, the lady who was doing my nails snapped at me because I accidentally moved and the polish on one toe smeared. I won't be coming here anymore. read more

So it came as a surprise to my boyfriend when I walked out of my first visit to Le Petit yesterday with the words "I think I found my new place" written all over my smiling face. With the exception of a tiny bubble in the gel polish I discovered on my way to the car, my digits are looking pristine. Love the color, and they had tons to choose from! Tipi was my nail gal, and she was friendly, efficient and very attentive to detail. I definitely felt pampered in the plush black leather recliner-these chairs are NICE! Gel Manicure Nail polish started to come off within three days, hangnails were not cut, cuticles look terrible, they rushed me through like it was a cheap car wash. Though everyone was very nice, they were a bit too fast on my pedicure. Two of my nails hurt for a week afterwards, and I was so afraid I was getting an infection after the nail beds has been scraped too deeply. I won't be going back. There are no fans to accelerate the drying process, and no fast dry top coat, so be prepared to sit and wait for the polish to dry. read more

For years I've been up and down Solano Avenue with different nail shops since this area is easy parking and close to where I live. I enjoyed the novelty of having someone color my nails after years of indifference towards my feet since I have very dry skin and spent most of my life dealing with dermatology issues and allergies, we're talking ugly heels and nasty tough cracking skin that ruins socks and bed linens. But after reading the horrible stories about infections and poor treatment of staff in NY and having my own worries about fungus among us, I quit going to nail salons for over 2 years. I didn't seem to tolerate color, my nails would darken and I worried. I even tried going without the color but the NY expose article really scared me. But I want to wear open toe shoes and doing it myself again was pathetic. So when my sister said this new place had opened I figured that reduced my chances of an infection and wanted only the pedicure, no polish. Well what a reassuring treat to see this handcarried big stainless steel bowl instead of the classic chair with circulating water. Tipi must have asked me 5 times if she was hurting me or rubbing too hard or in any way annoying my feet. No jerking my foot skywards or wincing when my neglected cuticles got addressed. Are you kidding me? Wow. Yes, there was a 30% discount since they just opened but I was so relieved and so pleased I paid full price as a good luck opening gift and am grateful for the experience, even to the point of writing this yelp review. You know, sometimes you get what you pay for. So I can afford an extra few bucks for the feeling of cleanliness, safety and careful work on my poor feet. This place is very clean I am so picky when it comes to cleanliness. The ladies took there time and every detail was so perfect. I just had a great experience at Le Petit Nail Spa. I live in the neighborhood and decided to give this relatively new spa a try. It was great to walk in without an appointment (on a mid-week mid afternoon). Admittedly, the great early-bird special ($32 for a mani-pedi) lured me in. Tipi, the spa's owner, is very warm and welcoming. The spa features comfy chairs with footrests. Your feet soak in metal bowls, which seem more hygienic to me than foot sinks. As mentioned in other reviews here, LPNS offers a really nice sugar scrub. The ambience was so pleasant and relaxed. Thanks to Van, my toes look great with their spiffy new polish. She also massaged my arms and legs. It was a totally pleasurable experience. With my manicure, I simply wanted my nails trimmed and buffed. Tipi offered free Halloween stickers, so I decided to go wild. I'll be back. read more

They have amazing customer service. When you walk in the door they greet you and offer you water or tea. I personally went to get a manicure and my only feedback would be to have samples of the gel colors, its hard to tell how the color would look like from the cap of bottle. They did a great job with my nails but I would like them to paint my nails all the way to the cuticle, otherwise, they look like its been several days since I had my nails done. I must say that this is now my favorite nail salon. I was greeted kindly by Tipi and she showed me an extensive library of nail polish. They carry several top name brands of nail polish. I was allowed to test the color on my nail before finalizing my decision. I had Mary work on my toes and Van on my hands. I must say that all their instruments are in SEALED bags! Mary used a pumpkin coffee scrub which was AMAZING! I was told that the scrub was made by Tipi and she changes it every few weeks or so. It is a DEFINITE reason for coming back! Van did a great job on my hands. I wanted a flower design but the first design wasn't to my liking so she customized the flower until I was completely satisfied. I'm really pleased that she took the extra care to make sure I was happy! I will Definitely be back! My friends decided to treat me out to a mani/pedi for my most recent birthday. With so many places to select from, we decided to check this place out through the recommendation of a friend. Since we were coming in on a Sunday, we called ahead to make a reservation for the three of us. One of my friends got a mani/pedi, the other got just a mani (french tips), and i opted just for a pedi. We arrived promptly on time for our appointment. They were ready for us when we arrived. The girl who did my pedi was very tentative to my requests. I was a bit surprised when they brought out a giant metal bowl for me to soak my feet in. I appreciated this method more. In my opinion, it was more sanitary compared to other places I've been to. The set up was quite nice. The large windows near the entrance allowed for a lot of natural light. This place is an adorable little spa in Berkeley! It is definitely a one of a kind among other nail shops in our area. My mom and I went to get our nails done this morning: she got a hot stone pedicure, and I got a signature manicure. Upon arrival, the staff was very friendly, and there were only two other women in there before us, so there was honestly no wait at all! My mom and I both got regular polish, however, hers was mood changing with temperature, which was really cool. The staff was really kind and sweet and they were very patient with my mom's requests, she was quite indecisive at the time. Overall, the service was great, and it was a nice treat to both of us after a long week! However, for both my mom and I, the polish wasn't as close to the cuticle as we would like, there was a bit of a gap, but we didn't mind at all :) Great find! read more

Best shop I've ever been to. I had acrylics taken off that were Applied at one of the worst salons I've ever been to. The removal was quick and efficient and let me tell you, the nail shaping and the gel application were on point. So we'll done I was totally shocked my nails could look this good. I have been to Le Petit Nail Spa many times over the past year. I have always liked the place and got really good service. The owner is always cheerful, helpful, and nice. However, it seems like she is out on maternity (last time I was there, she was quite pregnant) and my recent visit to the spa left me with such a bad experience. The place looked a little dirty and 2 chair stations next to me did not seemed to get cleaned right away. Then the technician working on my pedicure absolutely butchered my left big toe. I screamed out in pain when she was over zealous and careless with trimming the cuticles. She didn't even apologize. I will never return to this place - even throwing out the frequent card. I don't recommend going here until perhaps the owner returns on a more daily basis. read more
