The standout dish here is the chicken-fried steak (called by them "country fried steak"). It is crispy, so tender you can cut it with a fork, reasonably-sized, and yummy! (It's on the menu under Hen House for some reason, maybe because the dish includes two eggs.) Their other food is good too, but that's my favorite. I also like the Lumberjack breakfast, which has a little bit of everything. This is primarily a breakfast place, but they also have a selection of grilled and plain sandwiches, salads, and a cheeseburger. They have an extensive gluten-free selection (ask for the separate menu), including gluten-free pancakes in addition to the regular ones. The restaurant is bright and airy (there is also outdoor seating). Service is leisurely but OK. read more

Well, my Hobo Skillet was pretty good, but the wife's french toast and the son's pancakes were...just wrong. I saw my son grimacing as he ate his pancakes, and he told me they were bitter. I took a bite myself, and he was right - they were bitter and had a most unpleasant and lingering after taste. I used to love every Le Peep I ever visited, but something is wrong when a breakfast place can't make pancakes - that's a pretty basic dish and should be slightly sweet, not rancid-tasting. I have been going to Le Peep for years and years starting in my hometown near Chicago and often going to the Broomfield location. Was happy to have one close to my new job. Until I ate there. My partner and I ordered a late breakfast and my eggs came with a big, long hair. No question it was put in by the cook since it was literally baked into my eggs. Like when I picked it up the whole egg came up with it. *dry heeve*. But what was worse was how it was handled. The waitress was sweet enough and got me a new dish out, but by then my dining partner was nearly finished with his. And then, it came with no silverware as they had removed mine. So had to wait another 10 minutes to try to get someone's attention and my partner finally got up and found them himself. The manager walked over and asked if everything was ok but then walked away before he could answer. Uh. Ok. So finish the meal, still kinda grossed out, and waitress brings the bill over with the dish on the bill. So I ask her to please remove it. She walks over to the manager who is noticeably annoyed. He is 2 feet away but still does not come over. She comes back with a new bill and I walk over to the counter to pay - where the manager is ringing me out. He refuses to make eye contact with me or even speak to me. Wow, what a manager! Won't be back. read more

They do also serve lunch which has always been great, but I specifically stop in for either the Belgian waffle combo, huevos rancheros or chicken fried steak. I leave each time feeling so full I could explode, but in a good way! Staff is top-notch and they keep everything nice and clean. I have had nothing but great service here. Very impressive local lunch / brunch place in Longmont. The meal commenced with a standard but nice cream of mushroom soup, homestyle. I also ordered a berry yogurt smoothie, which complimented the meal nicely. The main course consisted of an avocado / bacon omelet, with a side of potatoes and a banana nut bread. The avocado sauce was spicy but not too spicy, and the eggs were fluffed perfectly. Fresh stuff all around. Decor was typical diner decor, but certainly comfortable. This is a super cute restaurant. We appreciated it being family owned and not a chain. It was pretty busy when we walked in, however we were seated within ten minutes. The service was phenomenal. We told our server we were on a time crunch and she was very efficient. On to the food, the only reason I didn't give five stars is because I had a omelet that was very bland. I do not recommend the Greek Goddess. It was flavorless for a Greek omelet. However, outside of the omelet everything else was delicious. Came back here again recently with the in-laws for breakfast. They have cinnamon rolls in the front that are really good and I recommend trying one (warm if you can). The meal I got (spinach omelet) lasted for two meals (take-home box) and was filling. I also tried a bloody mary (not good, way too much ice and not enough alcohol - ask for no ice if you want it) and the others had a variety of foods. I think this place really is a 3.5, as I mentioned before, but this visit I'll give it a 4 since the service was faster and the waitress was friendly. It's probably one of the top 4 breakfast places in Longmont and I've never had to wait. read more

We have eaten here pretty much every weekend for the last year. Generally the food is OK. If the host is the one who seats you, you're in doing OK. But if not, all bets are off. We visited this morning, patiently waiting for a seat while there were two nice booths and a window seat in the main dining room that were open. When it finally came to be our turn for a seat, the hostess directed us over to a table in the corner of the back room, smashed between two other tables, where we could barely get the chairs pulled out to get seated. We walked back to the register and politely asked for a different seat. The snippy young hostess told us we would have to put our name back on the list because "other people were waiting". She then took the next people in line to the open booth and told us to sit down and wait our turn. We just turned around and walked out, and they could care less. This is the second bad staff experience we've had in the last two visits. The only reason I gave two stars instead of one is there are some good waitstaff here, if you're lucky enough to get them. But the snotty hostess has to go before we would ever consider going back. If you're the manager reading this...take action or your restaurant will fail. read more

Potatoes- slightly dry and warm (ie been sitting) and some bites were REALLY salty It is a pretty big portion, I only hate half and was FULL. Nice foil to-go container so you can oven warm your leftovers. Food- 3.5-4 stars While they advertise free wifi, I couldn't connect to the signal. Very irritating for someone trying to have a working breakfast. [okay I pulled out another computer and that one was able to connect, bumped from 3 to 4 stars. It is a small 5" screen so I am limited in the work I can do, but I still couldn't connect on my netbook] Service, my waitress was happy to share her favorites with me. Absent like I prefer because I am enjoying the remainder of my latte and working on my computer. In all, I would come back but be warned, $8.39 for my meal (without latte) is on the pricey side for breakfast!!! When we arrived to pick up our order I stepped aside to check and make sure we had everything (especially since the ordering process was.. rough). Out of the three breakfasts with sides, we had one meal and one side.. we let the hostess know and she appeared confused. A manager came up and determined our second bag was behind the counter. I opened that to check and saw the omelet. The manager said to the hostess "grab the hair!!" which she did and pulled it out of the box. I stared at her and she just nervously chuckled. The manager actually thanked us for checking our food.. maybe it's not uncommon? The French toast is out of a school cafeteria, nothing like what is pictured on the menu. The staff went above and beyond to make sure that each guest had a genuinely memorable experience by checking in with each of the guests BEFORE they were even seated. I have never been to a restaurant that does this but a little went a long way. We were skeptical of Le Peep at first since the franchise down in Littleton was a bit lackluster, but this location was superb. We even sat at the bar last weekend and the service was still amazing. Being new to the Longmont area we weren't sure if we could find a new local brunch spot for our weekly brunch dates, but Le Peep in Longmont is now our go-to! Love it here, will definitely be back in and highly recommend brunch-goers to visit! read more

People have stated that it feels like a mom-n-pop joint, but it feels more like a Cracker Barrel to me. I've driven by this place for years and never gave it much thought, but breakfast was definitely great. I had Huevos Rancheros, and they have an awesome, spicy (real jalapenos were spotted!) sauce, savory black beans, and eggs eased over to perfection. The chai was delicious. My kids gave rave reviews to the sausage and biscuits (they consider themselves connesiours of what I consider a heart-attack waiting to happen) and the pancakes (light, fluffy, and huge). I am very sad to say that Le Peep has discontinued the smoked salmon omelet and the herb polenta. I came in one morning having craved it for weeks, and it was just gone, off the menu...poof! I ordered a breakfast burrito instead which was good, but I was still very disappointed. I can get a breakfast burrito anywhere. It seems the higher ups have made the decision to remove many of the items that made Le Peep a unique and different dining experience that stood out from other places. The Boulder location also removed the items from their menu. A very sad day for me indeed, and I know I'm not alone. The waitress even said she felt so bad because so many people wanted items that were no longer on the menu anymore. Bring back the smoked salmon omelet Le Peep... Your customers are waiting for it! Great food! I ordered the Jack Benny and couldn't have been more satisfied with it. Excellent recipe and perfectly cooked. Looking to nurse my hangover from exploits the night before, I ordered an Irish Coffee. It was not very good (I tried to give it about 3-4 sips to make sure I wasn't just not used to it), but the manager took it off my bill when I couldn't drink it anymore. Seemed like they put too much Creme de Menthe in it. I actually am unfamiliar with Irish Coffee with Creme de Menthe in it. The traditional way is 1.5 oz Irish Whiskey to about 4 oz coffee and some fresh whipped cream (not the can obviously hehe) on top. Still, thanks to the manager I left happy! It's hard for me to justify going to a breakfast place because, well, breakfast is usually easy to make, but the way they make everything just a little fancy makes it worth it and it was a very enjoyable experience. I was really pleased with this place. I didn't really expect a lot, but they definitely have the breakfast, brunch, lunch thing worked out. As the name seems to imply, the owners have a chicken fetish. The wicker lamp shades are shaped like chickens, there are pictures of children hugging chickens on the wall. Generally a odd theme, but well executed. When you order a cold drink like water or ice tea, they don't just bring you a glass, but they bring you a glass and a carafe. I think this is great as they don't have to interrupt you to refill your glass. The portions are large, but not the enormous piles of food you get at a lot of places today. I had the Ultimate BLT, which was just a BLT with mayo and melted cheese on top. The sandwich was good, though a little hard to fit in my mouth. The side salad was better than the sandwich in my opinion. The only thing that bothered me was you didn't know the procedure for paying. I saw 2 other tables holding their check and credit card and just looking around for the server. It turns out that you use the register at the coffee bar, but that just isn't obvious for the first time visitor. read more

Le Peep is arguably the best breakfast place in all of Longmont. Their egg dishes are really good. Big portions - so bring your appetite. I love the "Hen Pen" - a standard breakfast fare of eggs, sausage (mmm, the sausage here is great), potatoes and side toast or banana bread. Try the banana bread. The cooks here seem to take great care in preparing fresh tasting food - and the presentation is outstanding. I like how they bring you a carafe for ice tea or water (and sometimes even soda), or a thermos of coffee - help yourself to the drinks. The lemons in the water is an added touch. I hear their smoothies are great - but I have never tried them. read more
