EDIBLE, not preferable. *Decent amount if meat in sandwich (though you need to see if it was cooked well enough) Cons: *When you order delivery the packaging will be awful and can be easily tampered with plus kinda unsanitary too (see photo). *Spent $20 for a basic BBQ Pork Banh Mi and Thai Tea and both were extremely disappointing! Did not feel like it was worth it. *The ($6) Thai Tea had a lot of ice in it... and it was watered down. You get the HINT of Thai tea. And if you look closely, the tea isn't even the orange it needs to be to taste legit (See photo) *Banh Mi bread tasted pretty stale, all the ingredients didn't taste fresh (wilted cilantro, not crispy cucumbers and the lack of them, lack jalapeños (only had 1ish one in my sandwich), pickled daikon and carrots were just sweet and didn't have snap to them like if there were made fresh(like store bought ones in cans). *After eating, I pulled up the reviews and I'm concerned about food poisoning and cross contamination. After a night of much drinking and a morning inhibited by a hangover, my boyfriend brought me along to this quaint little spot to help sober up on a Sunday morning. He told me Le Paradis was one of Hayward's gems, and I was pleased to see that the restaurant was lowkey with its own lot and a homey feel to the space. While there, we initially had the place to ourselves since it was the middle of the afternoon, but soon after, people started trickling in. I ordered the hot and spicy beef noodle soup, shrimp and pork spring rolls, and a Viet coffee to wake me up. The broth of the soup was well balanced and the spring rolls were big in portion. The coffee was strong and definitely woke me up. The dishes were all fairly priced and super filling. After eating, my boyfriend wanted to get an almond meringue, and we were both super pleased with the low price for such a huge meringue! It was tasty, not too sweet, and melted perfectly in the mouth. If you're in the area, definitely check this place out! I'd like to come again to sample some more dishes! read more

This place is a cute mom & pop nestled in a small garden outside, The inside is bit worn but gives the vibe of a very loved french bakery. The staff was extremely nice and our service was wonderful, the gentleman serving me and my boyfriend was very visibly responsible for every table in the restaurant and still managed to be extremely attentive and kind, I was impressed by his warmth alone and enjoyed our lunch date, however the lack of the two stars is because of the food, We had two steak phos and spring rolls for an appetizer. The spring rolls had pork in them which I was weary of ( I don't particularly enjoy pork often) I accepted it but when they came the pieces of pork tasted hard and grossed me out with a stale cardboard consistency so I picked it out, my boyfriend who enjoys pork very much ended up adding that to his pho when it came. Well I saved myself because within an hour of leaving my boyfriend got extremely sick, the rest of the evening was spent in and out of the bathroom and I have never seen someone turn so pale before. My stomach felt funny as well but no where near his, needless to say the pork was the culprit. We were both disappointed because we'd enjoyed everything else and their coconut macaroons and almond croissants were amazing! It is one of those unassuming places that at first glance you may think a local favorite from a lack of options. I mean a French bakery that also has fantastic pho? Sparing the history lesson it makes sense on paper but I was still a little skeptical. We were greeted warmly by (discovered later) the owner Alice who quickly made us feel welcome and comfortable. I have no issues with the staff or the location, they have their own little parking area that's off of D street which is nice. However, what turned me off from the place was that the meringues were sitting in a case that had a fly in it, so I didn't feel confident in getting one. Another issue I noticed was with my banh mi itself, it had some kind of strand, not hair, inside. If you zoom in on my picture of the banh mi, you can see the strand near the center. I didn't raise an issue with the restaurant, because I personally don't mind it as much; I just removed it and continued to eat. But for those who care about issues like that, it's something to keep an eye on if you come here. The food was decent for the price, the combo #2 gives you quite a bit of food and a drink for $15, so I think the value for the meal was pretty worth. Love this place! They treat you well especially during this sad, pandemic time. Customer service was friendly and welcoming, foods were DELICIOUS, comforting and came with hearty portions. I'm going to be a regular here as much as I can during this time. I ordered takeout via phone and picked it up 15 min later. The parking lot is on the side of the restaurant and was empty, although small, so I had no trouble getting parking. I ordered pho XL with rare steak and beef balls and fried egg rolls. Total came out to $19 which is very affordable given the amount of portions! I went to pick it up and the lady at the front desk welcomed me with great service. She got my foods, packed it up and asked how I was doing. She even packed extra soup for me and said with care that we need to take care of each other, which I thought was comforting. Very appreciative of them going the extra mile during this hard time. I got home and was shocked at how much veggies, noodles, meat, foods I was given. The fried egg rolls came with lettuce, mint and pickled carrot plus fish sauce to dip the egg rolls in. They were crispy, fresh and so good after dipping into the sauce. The pho was so big! I had enough for a second meal the next day, so I saved a little less than half the portion as leftover. I had plenty to eat for dinner. The soup was rich in beef and different spices; it wasn't too salty and had just the right amount of savory vs sweet. It came with several beef balls and sliced meat. Le Paradis is so yummy! It's a small restaurant with a small parking lot and a lovely garden when you're walking up to the main door. I called ahead to place a dinner order on a Wednesday evening. I ordered the chicken and veggies sauté rice plate and the grilled chicken spring rolls and the food was ready in about 20 minutes. Both items I ordered were great! The chicken spring rolls came in a pair and were very filling with the peanut sauce. Easily some of the best spring rolls I've had! The chicken and veggies rice plate was a little plain, not too much flavor but I anticipated that going in to it anyway. I used chili paste with it and it gave it a little kick. I haven't eaten much Vietnamese food since I moved to the Bay Area a few years ago, and missed it. I'm glad I found Le Paradis. I was excited to try this spot as the reviews sold me. I got the BBQ Chicken Banh Mi and it was probably the worst banh mi I've ever ate. Honestly so sad because I love banh mi's and feel like they're pretty hard to mess up.. The bread was not toasted, the meat was bland, everything was bland. The lady who gave me my order didn't greet me, or say thank you, nothing. I peeked in their kitchen and saw frozen meat just sitting on the counter. It was alarming... The parking is really tight (they have a very small lot attached to the restaurant), so you may need to park on the side. So this place is one of the few spots I get vermicelli noodles from, and sometimes pho. And it's pretty good. Any delivery service will up-charge on prices but considering how annoying it is to get in and out of their parking lot, its kind of worth it. HOWEVERRR I decided to try their other dishes the other night and can I say I was blown away.... by how underwhelming it was. $12 calamari that looked like they just shook out a 1/4 of a bag of prefrozen stuff. Reallyyyy gooood thai tea!! We were driving around Hayward and spotted this cute resto. We were greeted by this wonderful vietnamese lady when we parked in the back. Service was great. Very friendly and fast for a to-go order. The egg rolls were still crispy when we got home! It has a beautiful Vietnamese-French ambiance inside. They have a note printed on their register that they also accept EBT for those who have one and need warm food. Heard you can only spend ebt on groceries/cold food, but this restaurant, you can order whatever you want. One of our friends recommended Le Paradis to us, so we decided to order from here. Not only was the food tasty, but the portions were generous for the price and there was no MSG. The herbs and vegetables in the Grilled Beef and the Fried Egg Roll Vermicelli dishes were super fresh, crisp, and just what we needed with the weather being so warm recently. The meat was marinated and grilled well. We also ordered the Grilled Teriyaki Chicken rice plate, which was flavorful, hearty, and packed with lots of meat and rice--we had leftovers. The last order was of their Chicken Fried Rice Rolls (meaning the wrapper was made of Rice paper), which doesn't quite reach the same level of greatness of their Fried Egg Rolls, but they were different with a chewy texture. BTW if it wasn't already implied, you should order the Fried Egg Rolls. They're delicious! It's really good and I'm surprised I don't see many customers dine in here. I LOVE THAT they have mint! A lot of places usually don't add the mint because mint is something a lot of places don't carry due to its shelf life. There's a historic connection between France and Vietnam, but the culinary relationship between French and Vietnamese cuisines isn't so obvious. That's the cool thing about Le Paradis, a family-run French bakery and Vietnamese restaurant combined into one, featuring a friendly staff and a quaint, relaxed, homey setting! The garden entrance to the restaurant is so pretty, and the inside of the cafe is decorated with French paraphernalia. Not only will you find pho, vermicelli bowls, and spring rolls on the menu, but there's also a counter of housemade croissants, meringues, custards, and other French-style pastries. For lunch, I ordered the vermicelli bowl with grilled pork, shrimp, and crispy egg rolls stuffed with crab and minced pork. Uniquely, you can get brown rice vermicelli here, which reminded me a bit of soba and had a much more interesting texture than white rice vermicelli! The colorful vermicelli bowl was laid out beautifully and served with fish sauce, and I also asked for sriracha, hoisin, and peanut sauces on the side to really up the flavors! I also tried the BBQ beef banh mi sandwich, which came with marinated grilled beef, pickled carrots/daikon, cucumbers, and cilantro on French bread. Both of these dishes were good, but definitely on the light side in terms of flavor and portion sizes. Finally, I couldn't visit this bakery without trying one of their pastries--the mocha meringue looked super interesting, but turned out to be extremely sweet, like eating a block of sugar. Not the most balanced pastry, but definitely unique! Overall, this was a really interesting bakery, cafe, and restaurant mixing influences from all over the globe! We love Le Paradis for the delicious Vietnamese food and their bakery. The restaurant menu is super vegan and vegetarian friendly, and we always crave their taro egg rolls and tofu papaya salad. We first discovered Le Paradis at the Oakland Grand Lake farmers market where the owner's son sells their bakery items. We bought their apple tarte to give to my 90-year-old grandmother and it's now her favorite, so we buy it for her on every special occasion. Now, we're regulars at their restaurant in Hayward.
