I've been on a recent chai kick so made a recent stop here on the way home, to try out their Chai Latte and their crepes. Needless to say to say, did not disappoint as the Nutella x Strawberry crepe was amazing. Strawberries were super fresh, and the Nutella spread wasn't overbearing. It's a very small place but it was pretty full of people so it's a neighborhood staple I suppose. Super small shop in Burbank. I have only gotten a few items here before but recently got their matcha. Definitely won't come back for the matcha as it tasted really water down and not higher grade like other stores. There is this sandwich croissant that has Nutella that was delicious especially when it is warm! The coffee here is a bit strong so if you like it like that then definitely you need to try it. The quantities in the bake case are limited but I am hopeful that's because they make everything fresh daily and when selections are gone, they're gone until the next day. Day old pastries aren't good and you can tell. Especially croissants. I have ordered iced lattes both times I've been in and the espresso beans they're using are tasty! It's strong and robust in flavor but not bitter. It's smooth and enjoyable coffee. It's awesome to have a cafe that serves yummy food and coffee. Oftentimes, it's one or the other. The interior of the cafe is tiny and cramped. When there is more than four people inside, it's a dance to get out of people's way. My husband and I LOVE trying places with kouign amanns and when we saw that this place offers different types... we had to give it a try. We stopped by yesterday morning and so glad that we went before they were sold out. The staff was friendly and welcoming as soon as you got in. We got the classic kouign amann, an almond kouign amann, a chocolate croissant and their version of a cinnamon roll. Everything was so good! I read other reviews that stated the kouign amanns weren't crispy but that was not the case yesterday. It was perfectly crispy and soft on the inside. We devoured everything so quickly. For lunch, we got Le Nordique on the baguette and the portobello mushroom on ciabatta. Le Nordique c'est tres magnifique, from the generous amount of salmon to the crunch of the baguette. The portobello has a nice pesto, and I really wish I had gotten it on the baguette, though the ciabatta was tasty also. Loved the fresh veggies. The desserts are buttery and sugary and indulgent. We got the raspberry tartelette on this visit, which was the right balance of creamy and sweet for me. I'm a sucker for raspberry anything! I've previously tried their Kouign Amann which is, to put it bluntly, a fucking MUST. This is what they're known for and it's absolutely worth every last crumb you scrape out of your bag. Small neighborhood shop in our area. It's been few attempts to like this place since it's so close to us. Their online posted schedule doesn't always align with the physical availability. It's closed when it says it should be open. The few times that we caught it open, it was not up to par...croissants are probably the worse things I've had there. Loved to stop by the French Rooster for the La Complete savory crêpe, pastries or to find imported French goodies. The owners/staff used to be very welcoming and their enthusiasm was contagious. Since the change of ownership, it has been a hit or miss and I'm not surprised the recent reviews are indicating the transition being noticeable as well. Some days you get a warm welcome with great service and others, your presence not acknowledged and not feeling as comfortable to ask questions. There are also less options/availability of pastries. I wish this place was a little bigger and had seating, but it is what it is. It's tiny and cramped inside, and i often see a line of people waiting to enter. Small, though it is, they have a bunch of beautiful pastry, coffes, beverages, and really delicious food! I ordered a Croque Monsieur with a side salad ,and a Croque Madam. I was told it would take about 25 mins so I ordered a double espresso and a cannelé to consume while waiting. There are no chairs, but there is a tiny little bar, and I was alone for 5 mins before about 15 different people showed up. It was packed inside, and some waited outside. Wild. The place isn't 5 star dining, but the foid sure delivers! Sofy at the register was lovely, too. She was helpful and charming. Will definitely return and I recommend to all. Currently they are in a soft reopen phase and only Wednesday to Friday, 11 am to 4 pm. Worth making the window, but hopefully they'll be fully open soon. read more

But do not order online for the first time coming here! Before desserts are had in the stomach, they must first be had in the nose. The smell of these baked goods is something you must come in person to experience, along with the beauty of their presentation behind glass. Bakers and owners are authentically French. I wanted this "LE PARISIEN" that you all speak of, but it wasn't available on the online menu for some reason, so I got the "L'italien" with ham instead. Was a little disappointed that it didn't come with the little pickles, tbh! The sandwich was large and enjoyable, just think it came with too much tomato and oil, so it made the sandwich wet by the time I sat down to eat it. The bread was a bit ~stiff~ as others have said, but it wasn't too bad and I liked the crunch. The kouign amann was delicious, though I only had a mini almond because most others were sold out by the time I placed my order around 1:30! The crepe was also very yummy, but a bit cold by the time I had gotten home to eat it. LFR is to-go only, but I bet that crepe would have been even better if I sat down to eat it immediately. I really, really wanted to love this place but thought it was just okay. They have a great variety of French pastries and breads you won't find many other places, and service is fantastic. I did not catch her name but the young blonde girl working the front is the absolute sweetest! Today I ordered the chouquettes which come in sets of 5, and one each of the cannele, parist brest, mini kouign amann classic, and regular kouign amann almond, totalling about $25. The chouquettes are crispy and hollow, like better donut holes. Not too sweet but also not much flavor. The paris brest was okay, the cream was just chocolate whipped cream and the pastry was a bit dry. The cannel was interesting, a bit chocolatey with a crispy outer layer and soft, moist cake inside. The mini kouign was my personal favorite, pretty much a sweet brioche with a dense but fluffy inside. If you love almonds, go with the almond amann since it is overflowing with almonds! Again, not too sweet but the bread was kinda plain. I'm not one for overly sweet items and typically love French pastries but these just didn't hit the mark for me. Could be personal preference but most tasted the same and I wouldn't exactly have a memorable recommendation of it. read more

I submitted an online order for Friday afternoon, and it was ready for pick-up when I arrived, which was great because I was concerned that the hot sandwich would delay the pick-up time. Also, I walked to the bakery, but there's street parking in the residential areas if needed. For lunch, I got the Croque Monsieur sandwich, which had a strong aroma from the cheese and gooey inside from the sauce - all delicious and quite filling. Among the baked goods, I enjoyed the Kouign Amann Almond (beautiful pastry layers and when reheated, the sugar crust is delightful; and the almonds gave a nice crunch) and the Raspberry Tartelette (sweet, tart, and surprisingly decadent for me). Although their items are a bit pricey, I think their quality's very good and worth another visit. I'd love to try more of the menu in the future, especially the savory crepes! read more
