After being in Paris for only a few days, I was already missing my daily salads. It was strange to be eating so much (delicious) bread! I ordered the Faubourg salad without acknowledging the price and was just happy to eat vegetables again! The salad was a decent size and all of the ingredients worked really well with one another: tomato, cheese, egg, prosciutto, potatoes with a mustard dressing. I enjoyed it because it was a change of pace from the regular ham and cheese baguette, but regretted the purchase after realizing how much it was (12 euros or around $17).
Our waitress was kind and patient, which made for a pleasant dining experience. However, a few friends who ordered sandwiches were unable to finish both halves and wanted to-go bags instead of wasting the food. Even though it is a known fact that the French do not take things home, we were reluctant to leave food behind. One of the girls asked the guy behind the bar for to-go bags and he sighed heavily and practically rolled his eyes. It was slightly shocking and frustrating at the same time that someone would react so strongly to a simple request. It gave me a sense of how different customer service is in different countries since the tips are usually included in the price of the food. It definitely made me appreciate the American culture of "the customer is always right." If it wasn't for our kind waitress I would have definitely given this place 3 stars. read more
