The fam wanted to try this place.. I'm not much for sweets. They got something between a croissant and donut. I gave it a bite.. it was light and fluffy..pretty good. I had the sausage and cheese kolaches and it was good. The lady was super sweet. Everyone left happy as you can see from the picture. read more

Le Donut - Donuts Near Me - Houston, Texas

I was looking for a mom & pop donut/kolache shop. I came in early after my shift, to pick up 4 dozen kolaches for my following shift. I was deciding between kolaches or bundtinis. Kolaches were significantly cheaper, more flavor, and more filling than bundtinis. The lady threw in 4 bags of donut holes. That was really nice! The kolaches are good as well!! Thank you! I will be coming back. read more

Today was all about heading home for a nooner - which is what I like to call having kolaches for lunch. I love a place that has specialty items, such as a boudin kolache. I hate when a place "has" those specialty items but are entirely sold out of them so they don't really have them, in fact. But no fear, they have other things to eat. When you walk in the main supply case just stage right has all the donuts and sugary things facing OST. The kolaches/croissants and such are back around the side facing Alameda. Kolaches? Practically my middle name. Let's do that. They have small (boo!) and large (yay!) sizes for the kolaches. Chest out as Kevin Hart instructs, and order the large one. It's what Kabbalah Monster intended, don't sass her by ordering the small size. The large size kolaches are respectably large. Notably larger than local Med Center competitor French Corner. Significantly larger than your factory-conditions-produced Shipleys. Bigger than Kolache Factory even; as well as Christy's and B&B too. And it even comes in heavy against my city favorite Bakery Donut in the Heights. That being said, it does come at a price. 4 of them are $12. If you have three professional people you want to spoil with a savory treat as a surprise (and also treat 'yo self to one as well) that's basically a 2am night out in the Taco Bell drive thru's princely sum that you just dropped here. So what do you get and how does it compare to $12 of drunk food that you would only regret if you weren't 2 turnt? Let's explore. The sausage and cheese kolache has a mega sized sausage, a pocket of air around the sausage so it is not a heavy lump of dough like the Kolache Factory way, and the cheese is spotty but a spice of life. I included a "detail" shot of the cheese so you can see how it is present and accounted for, but not the gross wax-like kind the Shipley factory ships out around town. For $3 I am hard pressed to think of a better way to spend it than this kolache right here. The sausage jalapeño is sadly not hot at all. The joke about white people is that "this water is spicy" or "this toothpaste is spicy" - but no, no heat here. This is not spicy. In fact the predominant taste is of salt, so much salt you would want one of these around as a weapon for when The Snail returns and Charlie Kelly need to salt her so she goes away. Bend this kolache slightly, chuck it at The Snail, and you'll have yourself a boomerang. The sausage jalapeño was considerably more greasy than the cheese one and had already soaked through the bag before I got off of Alameda. Locally owned is always going to win out in the long run, so this is definitely worth a visit when you are in the mood for a morning treat, or like me, as the essential stop on the way home for a nooner. Except for Bakery Donut in the Heights their kolache game is so strong it beats all the competition south of 11th Street, including B&B on Westheimer which had held the Southern territories until my first visit here. There is always room for improvement everywhere, in the case of the jalapeño kolache, and also in keeping that boudin kolache stocked up when you hear I'm in town. Do those things, win more yelp points in my book. read more

I actually have never been to this place before but I have eaten their donuts. My friend bought a box full of cronuts and kolaches for some friends and I, and let's just say...I AM IN LOVE WITH THE CRONUTS. She bought these donuts around 6am.. At first I had no idea what a cronut was to begin with but as my friend explained it to me, she said that it was a cross between a croissant and a donut. And I thought that was weird but interesting. My friend was telling me how the cronuts were made to order and it didn't take too long to make. She also mentioned how expensive they were. I think she said they were $2 each and she bought 6 cronuts. I took my first bite and Oh. My. Gosh. It was soooooo good! It wasn't too sweet or bland/dry? It had the right amount of glaze to it. It had a great taste to it, and it really did taste almost like a donut/croissant. It had a really nice texture to it. It was flaky tasting, but not too flaky. It tasted just right. Oh and it tastes great warm. I had about one and half and thought that was just about right. I had to split one with a friend cause I felt like I would have eaten all of them. It was sugary goodness. There was one left and no one wanted it so I immediately said that I wanted it. From 6am is when we started eating them, I had the box with the cronut in it til around noon-ish and when I got home, I put it in the microwave for about 10 seconds to warm it up. It tasted just as good for being in my backpack for a few hours. I think I would give this 4 stars just the fact that my friend kept saying how expensive these cronuts are. I guess I can see both sides from the store view and my friend's view. $2 a cronut is quite expensive, considering donuts range from .70 cents to $1 something. However, I would come on my own for maybe one or two cronuts...or maybe a box full. read more

I've been going here for years so it's about time I leave my review. I love Le Donut! My usual order is a sausage, egg, and cheese croissant sandwich with one or two cronuts (croissant donut). If you haven't had a cronut, please try it. I love peeling it apart and eating the layers one by one. I believe I've tried everything and it's all good here. Everything is made fresh daily. The staff is also great and honestly might be the best part about this place. I always have a pleasant experience with them when I come here. They're kind, hardworking, and polite. I feel like I'm buying donuts from my mom each time I come here. So y'all give them a try and please be nice to my second parents (not really my family lol). read more

Highly recommend this family business to anyone who's craving some donuts, croissants, or kolaches. We used Doordash to order during Covid, and everything was well-packed and wrapped with care. We had the glazed donuts and variety of other items (boudin kolache, ham+cheese croissant), apple fritter. All tasted fresh and not overly sweet. Would definitely order from them again! read more

I love kolaches and enjoy exploring local kolache/donut shops. I got their regular jalapeño sausage cheese kolache but it was good but super small and overpriced sadly (I prefer Dawn Donuts' kolaches near me). My friend and I also got a cronut and creme filled donut. ($2 each) He really liked the creme filled donut and I found the cronut very tough. The lady at front was very nice and threw in extra donuts (not sure if because we're first timers or because we came right before closing) which were Red Velvet, blueberry cake, and bear claw(?). The red velvet and blueberry cake donuts were pretty good. read more

Finally got the chance to visit this place since I get to work from home today. I love donuts but I don't get them on a regular basis... quite honestly, I get them probably twice a year so I was dreaming about this last night in all my excitement. I got in at around 8:50 in the morning and there were 2 people before us. We saw the kolaches but my eyes were on the donuts. Specifically, I had my eyes on the plain glazed but then the pile of donut holes pulled me in. So... following what everyone here said, I ordered 6 cronuts and a dozen donut holes (they sell them by the dozen). Once I paid, the lady handed me my box of treats with a tissue paper with 4 fresh donut holes on the side, which we wolfed down in seconds once we got into the car. Awesome! Now you're probably wondering why they only get 3 stars. The service was pretty good and it wasn't too crowded. There were a decent amount of selections when we were there and the place was well lit. It also looked pretty clean. WE ONLY GOT 5 CRONUTS. And were charged for 6. Each cronut is $1.99. I don't know, do people normally check the contents of their box before they leave?? Should we have to? After this, I guess I will in the future. I'm not too miffed though since we got extra donut holes and I was too quick to confirm my payment and forgot to add a tip. The extra $1.99 is for their tip, I guess. Aside from that, their donut holes were amazingly fluffy and soft. I just want to surround myself with these beautiful bites and be in my little heaven on earth. The cronuts were pretty good too. It was a bit crispy on the outside and not too sweet (but I chose the one with the least amount of glaze). There were visible layers but definitely not as flaky as an actual croissant. Pretty good, but I'd love to try their plain ones next time. Perhaps I should add another donut visit this year... read more

The ladies here are SO friendly! They greet you with a lovely smile and kind words when you walk in and always seem to be happy to see you. On top of this, they never fail to add in a couple freebies with your order - it's quite mindboggling how they manage to stay in business with this kind of excellent charity. But I love it. They've got a small and large size for their kolaches for your convenience. A wide variety of selections including glazed, filled, old-fashioned, in all different shapes and flavors. Kolaches are also offered in a croissant version which is incredibly flaky and buttery. They always offer to heat things up for you without having to be asked. $4 credit card mimimum. Wide selection of drinks in fridge.' Parking is never a problem. read more

The ladies that work here are really kind and welcoming. The definitely know who their regulars are, as they ask about their weekend or whatnot. They offer a variety of donuts, pastries, a decent cup of no frills coffee (with choice of creamers). Prices are also reasonable. I highly recommend coming and supportive this local business ! read more

I really did not seem to see what the hype was about at Le's Donuts. I went Saturday morning around 9:30am and wanted to try their cronut, unfortunately they already ran out. Note: If you're trying to get a cronut, the shop opens at 5:30am. I think this place is worth it if you get the not usual donuts, if you get apple fritters or croissants. I got the chocolate sprinkled glazed, glazed donut, and maple iced donut. The chocolate sprinkled glazed donut seems a bit burnt (darker than golden brown) and the sweetness level was perfect to me. The maple iced donut tasted like a typical maple iced donut. All the donuts seemed small compared to Dunkin' Donuts/Shipleys. Overall, I did not seem to see why this place has that high reviews, but I also did not get anything other than their donuts. read more

I passed this spot after a Waze reroute sent me nearby. I took 4 years of French in high school, so I felt sufficiently bougie going in this place lol! I figured I would get breakfast for my week crew and try a new page at the same time. Since it was an expense, no reason not to right? The plague itself if pretty standard. It doesn't really offer an easy in option and the traffic in the morning is pretty steady so it seems to be a popular place. When I got to the counter, I noticed they also have the cronut, a croissant donut hybrid. This made my entire week! I got donuts, kruellers, kolaches and a couple cronuts. My team RAVED about how good everything was and I have to say I don't have a single complaint. This place is doing it right. Will absolutely go back. WINNER!!! read more

This place has good donuts and such. I got an apple fritter and it was the best I've eaten because it was thin. Usually they are thicker and thus too much bread. She had a Cronut (a doughnut-croissant). She liked it but said it tasted pretty much like a regular donut. If we'd had more time I would gotten one of their sausage kolachies but I was saved from myself by time. read more

This is a perfect "no frills" type donut shop! And the donuts are DELICIOUS!! The owners/staff are incredibly friendly, kind, and helpful! What more could you want?! After my heinous experience with Shipley's not long ago, I was hoping for a better experience at a donut shop in Houston, a place I can call my go-to for the occasional sweet treat. Le Donut is a hole in the wall, locally-owned donut shop near the Texas Med Center, so I figured I'd try it out when I was in the area. I walked in to Le Donut and was immediately greeted by the wonderful, smiling lady behind the counter! She said "good morning sweetie! How are you??" with a huge grin and idk, it just made my day! In addition to a wide selection of fresh donuts, she also pointed me to an entire display of kolaches. I ordered a half dozen donuts-two glazed, two chocolate iced, one vanilla iced with sprinkles, and one cinnamon bun. As I was paying for them, the lady grabbed a red velvet donut and stuffed it in my bag for no extra cost, just to be nice. Ugh, as if she already didn't make my day the moment I walked in! The donuts themselves are really good. Freshly made, doughy and sweet, but not overly sweet or drowning in goo or grease. Just right. I ended up loving the red velvet one! It had a satisfying crunchy icing on the outside, and delicious cake on the inside. 10/10 would order again. I grew up on hot and fresh Krispy Kreme, which is honestly hard to beat, but Le Donut, at least for as long as I'm in Houston, looks like it will be my new spot for donuts. The food, service, and commitment to quality is all there and I'm looking forward to coming back. :) read more

Only donut place I've given a 5* review so far because they're just so damn fresh! ALSO GET THE CRONUTS, they are to die for. I don't even remember what else we ordered because when I come back, I'm just going to order a dozen cronuts. I live a minute away from here, and I love this place! I don't eat pork, but they have many other varieties for me to try. Their Italian chicken and broccoli/cheese croissants are to die for. Their regular glazed donuts are also better than other donut places I'd say. I'd pick this spot over Dunkin, Shipleys, or Krispy. I only visited this place few times, but I became a regular quick lol. The ladies always give me extra donut holes with all of my purchases. They're super nice and generous. They'll even warm up your donuts. This place can get busy in the early mornings, btw! read more

Yes I may be a regular on yelp and yeah I might of become obsessed a little but Le Donut has TRUE regulars that arrive 5:30am sharp! Lol I don't judge them either because those donuts are very delectable. The customers and employees know each others names so they're are pretty familiar with each other too. The familiarity with their customers stems from their customer service which is pretty good. As soon as you walk in an employee is greeting you and trying to cater to your needs. The method in which they do this is cool but low-key it's somewhat rushed. For me they kinda compensate for that when they occasionally throw a few extra doughnuts holes in my bag They have staffing that is very similar to the several small-owned donut shops in the Dallas area but their service and donuts are far better than them. In all honesty Le Donut is the best donut shop I've been to in the Houston area disregarding their hours which I wish were longer. When it comes to their donuts or doughnuts or however you want to spell them they do not disappoint. Every cake doughnut I've tried is bursting with rich flavor. Like the red velvet cheese cream donut taste like one of the best red velvet cakes I've ever had. Their chocolate cake and regular cake doughnuts are good as well. Now their cronuts (glazed croissant) are pretty good but I've had better. They are the only shop I know in Houston that has cronuts though. The selection of non pastry breakfast items is pretty large too. Their kolachies are pretty good but I'm a big fan of their chicken croissants I just really like it. So if you're a donut enthusiast, like me or you just want some good donuts and find yourself in South Central Houston near the medical center just stop by Le Donut I guarantee you'll enjoy it! read more

Le Donut is 100 percent reliable for excellent donuts. 1. They are the only donut shop open early enough prior to the start of shift (medical center) 2. This place was great! Donuts were delicious and the lady behind the counter was so smiley and sweet! Great service, great product :)

Went at 5am and grabbed 4 glaze and 4 jumbo sized Kolaches. Donuts were fluffy and sausage had a nice kick to it. Service was great!!!

The donuts were ok, but the green apple smoothie was great. They add filling fresh too

Thanks for the recommendation from Lorinna H!!! I came here on my day off from working 9 straight days. This place really hit the spot. I tried the sausage and cheese kolache, ham, egg, and cheese croissant, their donut holes, and their normal donuts. I must say shipley you better step up your game because there's a new donut shop in town and it's not going anywhere. The quality is top notch. The prices are comparable to shipley, but if you ask me support a chain or a local own business, local place will always prevail. I came after the morning rush and got a pretty big order so she threw in a jalapeno and sausage kolache on the house!!! These people are super friendly and sweet. I will be back for more!!! read more

First of all, before you consider trekking to Le Donut, check the store hours. You have a narrow window of time to get some fried doughy goodness- the operation shuts down at 1:00pm. What sets this donut shop apart from Shipley's is that they use a less "cakey" and lighter batter. But it is not as airy and sugary as Krispy Kreme. The donuts have their own unique appealing texture. The red velvet and cronut are among my favorites. But I would have to confess to liking the boudain kolache as the best item on the menu. The sausage stuffing is meaty and spicy- nothing like a little bit of heat to start your day! read more

Drove 30min downtown for the infamous cronut and was left extremely disappointed. When I got home it was not crispy or had any layers in it. Cronuts. They are here!! And they are damn good. Better buy a dozen fast, before I buy them all out again. The cronut is everything you'd want it to be -- a buttery sugary fried combination of 3 million calories. Their croissants, regular donuts and cake donuts are all delish. They do strange flavors too.
