We recently tried Le Charlot in Southampton. It is a French restaurant with delicious food and we would definitely go back! It is located in the heart of the town and is a great spot for lunch! We started with bread and butter and the arugula salad. The bread is available upon request and comes with either butter or olive oil. The arugula salad was simple yet delicious, we definitely recommend this salad! We LOVED the Steak Au Poivre!! The peppercorn sauce was delicious and overall the steak was tender and cooked great. It comes with crispy fries too (We ordered it medium and we will say it came out a little more on the rare side, so keep this in mind when ordering, you may want to order one temperature above what you desire.) We also loved the Bronzino It came in a lemon olive oil sauce, served with potatoes and vegetables. The fish was cooked perfectly and the sauce was amazing! Good service I don't know if the majority of people who rate this place don't know what good service is. The service is an A Marion took care of us and was there anytime we needed something. My definition of good service is: not having to Crain your neck to look around and wait for someone to come over. If you have a dirty glass or something is wrong they will take care of it immediately. Their Tuna Tartare is prepared differently than most. Instead of lemon zest, they use ginger and put sauce inside which throws off the entire dish. I would recommend that the restaurant gives customers a heads up to the difference in preparation. Rating: B- I had the Beef Bourguignon which was pretty good. It came out medium well (I didn't see any pink inside). Le Charlot is a french restaurant that is on the main drag in Southampton, and we decided to stop in for a light bite after doing some shopping in the area. The whole restaurant was open, and we had the choice to sit wherever we wanted, so we picked a spot in the back which was very comfortable and able to see the front door, felt safe eating here. We ended up getting The Quiche and some fries/salad, and I got the French Onion Soup. The waiter was okay, french accent, and was attentive to the ingredients in the quiche, since my gf can only eat organic eggs, which they were able to accommodate. The Soup was delicious. Hot, Onion'y, Cheesy, and they brought some bread chips as well for me to have with it. Expensive spot, but decent food, worth a try. read more

It looked great, but after its initial taste, it tasted from both a heavy hand with the pepper and tin/metal. Homemade? This was our second time here, just for dessert at the end of the day. It was around 10:30pm and most places on Main St had already stopped seating but they very graciously gave us a table and brought us the wine and chocolate mousse super quickly. I understand that restaurants were hit hard by COVID but one would assume it'll make them more approachable. Not this place..first our server gave us the airs when we wanted coffee and desserts only. The restaurant was literally 10% full outdoors but they were not initially interested in seating us. When they did seat us, our server insisted that each person is required to order a dessert with their cappuccino/ tea. They didn't allow 4 of us to order 3 desserts. Wow! The fries were delicious, with very reasonable portion. The entire table shared the fries and everyone was very satisfied. The hearts of palm is absolutely delicious. I'm surprised that there's only two stars for this establishment. To begin with I found the people who work there to be very pleasant. On a Recents summer evening we requested to sit outside and of course they produce a very nice table. The wines ms by the glass are in fact very pricey however they are pouring very excellent quality wines. We ordered the tuna tartare which was exceptional in his presentation as well if its flavor. We also had an arugula salad which had the perfect amount of cheese and seasoning. The skirt steak which we ordered medium rare was cooked exactly as we requested, I found the chimichurri a bit on the bitter side, the fries are perfect, and all in all a very enjoyable meal Perhaps the people in Southampton are just jaded and they've set the bar so high and almost nobody could reach it. While there is a plethora of places to shop on Main Street in Southampton, there is, however, a shortage of great dining options around here. Until we walked in Le Charlot. I do have a penchant for French bistros with white tablecloths and blue chairs. We were welcomed by the French-speaking server - well, he had us at "Allo"! The place is simple but stylish, unpretentious and not overly sceney. I love that their menu is not overwhelming. I refrain from eating bread prior to meals (but I think the bread basket was empty in 2 minutes)! Arguably the best bread in the Hamptons! I had escargot for appetizers. It was served piping hot and tasty (butter, butter, butter!) For entrees, we ordered Eggs Benedict served with fries & Boeuf Bourguignon served with Tagliatelle Pasta. I can only speak for the latter since it's what I had ordered. Server recommended a nice glass of wine (Cote Du Rhone) to go with the Boeuf Bourguignon. The entire meal was divine. Hard to believe that I am the first to review... Dead center Main St. in Southampton, Le Charlot seems destined to be a go-to place for the Hampton's in-crowds. The restaurant, opened in November, 2014 is attractive and still very fresh looking. There is a small dining area outside as well as some seating at the bar. Menus are similar for both lunch and dinner with enough choices to satisfy most diners. We liked everything we sampled. But, to be honest, we just scratched the surface. Prices were higher than expected - even for the Hampton's a burger shouldn't cost $27. That said, I liked my lunch and will certainly return. read more

We were so happy to see this place open a couple of years ago. My husband and I wandered in and decided to drink and eat our dinner at the bar. There was only one other person at the bar and possibly 2 tables taken out of the entire restaurant. What I am trying to convey is they were not overwhelmed. I ordered escargot which i wanted served before my burger. We waited as waited as waited and waited probably close to 45 minuets- kept asking if it would be out soon. Finally my rare burger came out very well done. I was willing to forgive this but asked where my escargot was and they said they forgot!!! I told them that I did not want it anymore and guess what it came out just after I took my last bite of the burger. Again this place was empty- they just shrugged their shoulders- no apology. I have actually never written a yelp review before (despite having been to amazing restaurants, and some not so amazing). I've been meaning to start and my experience at Le Charlot was so awful last night that I'm motivated. Let me preempt by saying yes, it was the Saturday night of Labor Day, but the restaurant wasn't that busy. There were several empty tables. We sat down and our waiter tried to push the specials on us right away. He tried to take our order after we'd been seated for less than 5 minutes. We told him we needed some more time and ordered drinks. He came back 5 minutes later and asked again, before our drinks were arrived. Our appetizers came out (mediocre salads) and about 15 minutes later so did our entrees. Not only were we not FINISHED, but the plates hadn't been cleared. They took away my friend's salad, half eaten, without asking if she was finished (she wasn't) and just plopped giant plates of mussels (also mediocre) down on the table. To top it all off, we were never once checked in on or asked if we needed more drinks. When our plates were partially empty, they cleared them away and our waiter set a check down. He didn't ask if we wanted dessert, another drink, etc. I've never felt so rudely dismissed and the restaurant was empty. I will not be back. read more

First off, my apperol spritzer wasn't to my liking, so they fixed it- that shows they care about their customers. Also, the meals are so delicious. Can't go wrong with the salads or artichoke for appetizer. I had the pasta with short rib and it was AMAZING!! I usually get the steak carpaccio, but I was in the mood for something different.
