Great place, ambience, food were excellent and great service. Flavors of the food we had were all good. We tried the muscles a d escargot for appetizers and our main dishes were shrimp, rabbit and beef are a must try!

If you're in the area and you need an affordable filling meal and are willing to compromise a bit on flavor, they have a good lunch deal. The onion soup was pretty flavorless and had no body to it. The steak au poivre was a very flat cut with a hard sear that ended up pretty tough. The fries that came with it were just okay but served very hot so they were tasty before they cooled off. The crème brûlée was not remarkable but it was decent and probably the best part of the meal. I had a bite of someone else's duck and found the orange too sweet. You could do worse for a meal and I was satisfied but you could also certainly do better.

Three Cheese Fondue: Excellent cheese, as one would expect in France, and the options for dipping included some sliced meats and little lightly fried potatoes that were just delightful. You can control your own heat on the cheese spit and although I was not the master at this (my cheese was occasionally a frigid mass or a boiling pot of lava) it made it extra fun and fancy. Compared to fondue places in the U.S. this was much more casual and wayyyy cheaper. 5/5 Escargot: While in France I ordered an escargot dish every single place I went. This one was tasty and I enjoyed the sauce although the escargot were probably mid range quality. I would recommend eating them here if escargot is your thing - but if it's your first time trying the dish save it for another venue. 4/5 Duck breast with black pepper sauce: Trying to decide between the duck and the rabbit, we asked the waiter and he decisively recommended the duck. Duck is definitely the thing in France and even at this little hole-in-the-wall-ish place it was incredible. Very well cooked and super flavorful. There is also the option for a black currant sauce, but I prefer savory to sweet and was happy with this dish for sure. 5/5 Creme brulee: This was not my favorite creme brulee - didn't have that melt in your mouth texture but it was edible. Moderate quality but also moderate price and it's like pizza - this dish is always edible and passably good so I will give it 4/5. The venue is dimly lit and feels like a lodge up in the mountains. There's a big moose head on the wall! It was the perfect safe haven from the rain in December for a filling, less expensive meal in the Latin Quarter of Paris.

After looking at other restaurants in the area and not wanting to pay 22€ plus for a plate we found this place on Yelp. We saw they had a three course meal for €17.50. They have quite a few choices for that price. You can also upgrade to a different three course meal whic has a few more expensive items. Service was great even when it got super busy. There is English on the menu which was great. Everything was great except my wife's steak was supposed to be medium well and it was medium/medium rare. I ordered the duck breast and it was super tender. I would suggest the chocolate cake for dessert! Overall it was a pretty decent deal compared to other places. Not sure if I would come running back but overall we didn't encounter any problems.

My friends and I wandered into Le Chalet by pure luck. We were in the mood for fondue but the place we went to around the corner was completely booked for the next hour and a half so we took a stroll and came across this restaurant instead. We were seated immediately at Le Chalet. The general feel of the restaurant is very cozy and warm. They have a pretty large menu with plenty of prix fixe offerings. 3 of us ordered from the fondue options and another opted for some kind of steak. We all started with an order of escargot (as we planned to eat escargot every night we were in town) and as usual, it was a fantastic choice. When our fondue pots arrived simmering with melted cheese, I damn near drooled but managed to contain myself. Our fondue orders came with a plate of deli meats, a side of potatoes and fresh bread. Everything was delicious, cheesy and (unfortunately) very salty. I ate about 85% of my main course as a) still had to make room for their delicious creme brulee and b) didn't wanted to be bloated af from all the sodium. Service was on point, better than what I had experienced in other Paris establishments and the food came out in a timely manner. All in all I really enjoyed this place and would definitely recommend folks to try it out if you're around the area and in the mood for a nice meal!

Things to love here: Excellent service - somehow lacking in many restaurants around Paris 1/2 bottles of wine - a great way to enjoy two different wines in one sitting Pre-fix menu - you get an appetizer, entree and dessert at a decent price Things you wish you could love The French Cuisine - not very exciting. My duck a l'orange was bland and served with simple boiled small potatoes with no seasoning at all. My husband had the lamb and it was only flavorful because that's just how lamb is. Dessert was also pre-made frozen cups of chocolate mouse or panna cotta. While tasty, it reminded me of the cases of dessert in a diner back in NY. I would return here, but next time, ask the waiter what their best dish on the menu is.

    Rabbit with mustard sauce

This place screams ambiance when you see a big moose head in the dining room. =P My Parisian friend took me here on my last night in Paris. Primarily because my boyfriend is a big fan of cheeses and this place has a prix fixe cheese fondue meal. It tooked delicious, but was a little bit above our budget. We opted instead for the other prix fixe menu. The menu list was quite extensive actually. There were a lot of options. For about 16 euros, I ordered 3 courses: *White wine mussels: Tons of fresh mussels. A hint of wine. so good. *Rabbit with mustard cream sauce: Came with a side of boiled potatoes. Loved the mustard cream sauce. For me the rabbit was so-so. Tasted like chicken =P *Chocolate profiteroles - I'm sure this was good. Just not too memorable. Seating was a little tight. Be comfortable with your neighbors. But this would be a great place to eat and people watch since it is located in such a lively neighrhood!

The restaurant itself isn't small, but really not big, so it's definitely worthwhile to make a reservation at least a week or so on advance, otherwise you're pushing your luck. Everyone ordered steak frites (2 rump steak, 2 flank) and no one was disappointed. Steaks were cooked to order, although medium here in France is more like medium rare in the States, just be advised. The restaurant itself is lively and fun with lots of chatting, laughing and good times being shared. Desserts were Crème Brûlée and Apple Crumble, neither of which were disappointing. We definitely enjoyed our dinner and would likely return again. This time with a reservation made well in advance.

I decided to stick with the house specialty; Landais Au Gratin (cream potatoes, duck breast and emmental cheese). The 2 German girls beside me ordered a cider with both their meals so I followed their lead. When in Paris...... Considering the temperature, I almost second-guess myself and ordered something other than their house specialty of au gratin potatoes. In the end, I was very glad I overruled that thought. Brody enjoyed his meal. He just appeared to still be hungry when it was done and a 16 year-old boy that normally has a high caloric intake, I can understand why he wanted a second meal after eating his first! The restaurant in the patio were quite crowded even though we had reservations. They still sat us within five minutes of arrival. Not that five minutes is a long time to wait, but it was still worth the wait as good as the food tasted. We both enjoyed our meals.

We headed to Chez Janou, a Paris institution. I hadn't been in years, but my son insisted we go back because, according to him, they have the best chocolate mousse in Paris. Judging by the lineup, half the city; and every tourist with an Instagram account showed up. Thankfully we had a 2pm reso. Here's the thing, though. Everyone talks about the mousse, but the food deserves just as much attention. I'd also forgotten how much I love the 3rd arrondissement. Wander a few minutes from the restaurant and you'll find beautiful art galleries, a gorgeous little park, and some of the best boutique shopping in Paris. It's one of those neighbourhoods where you accidentally walk 15,000 steps without realizing it. Now, here's your game plan. Start with the escargots or the gambas to share. For your main, order the farci provençal or the foie de veau. The farci is like a French version of a stuffed pepper: yummy comfort food with a southern coast twist. As for the foie de veau... I actually ordered it by mistake. I thought I was getting regular veal. Out came veal liver. Best mistake of the day. I love liver. My mom makes an incredible liver and onions, so I'm a tough judge. This was outstanding. Rich, buttery, perfectly cooked and perfectly salted. It was so good I immediately texted my mom and told her she's coming here the next time she's in Paris. Drum roll, please... The chocolate mousse. Was it worth all the hype? Yep. There are no fancy swirls or little artistic desserts here. A server simply walks over carrying what looks like a white industrial-sized bowl of chocolate mousse and casually drops a mountain of it onto your plate. Everyone grabs a spoon and starts digging in. It's wonderfully French. Simple. Unpretentious. Ridiculously good. So yes, Chez Janou lives up to the hype. But don't just come for the mousse. Come for the lunch, stay for the neighbourhood, and spend the afternoon getting happily lost in one of the best corners of Paris. That's a Friday well spent.

When he brought us food or drinks he nearly dropped it on the table and quickly sped off. Some other servers seemed nice to other guests, so maybe we got one on a bad day but still we felt really upset and uncomfortable with how we were treated, there is no reason for anyone in the service industry to be so rude especially when we were being so polite. You also get blocked into your seat, and are very close to other guests which is fine but you have to call the waiter to pull your table back out to get up or to go to your seat- to which they begrudgingly do so. The beef bourguignon was tasty, but we did not like how both my and my friend's order were brought in the same pot. This resulted in us having maybe 3 tiny potatoes each and not near as much meat as we hoped for. We were expecting to each have our own dish. This was certainly not worth the 36€ per person price point (nearly $80 USD for the one pot of food), and we left the restaurant still hungry and extremely upset and disappointed by the service. Overall I would not return or recommend.
