As an American, you must get used to the slow pace that most restaurants run here. But, I've taken a sincere liking to slowing down and enjoying my food rather than eating 'on the go.' They probably get a lot of people who don't speak French and they had no problem speaking English. The food- ordered a ribeye medium rare. There is seared and then there is burnt; this was sadly the latter. The steak itself was fine, honestly nowhere near the best meat I have had but the price is quite reasonable for how much you get. I would say the steak was maybe 6/10 for me, largely due to the cooking. The fries were phenomenal. Definitely a highlight and really tasty and with a great texture. Salad was good, pretty typical. I wanted to like the sauces more but found them just okay. The best by far for me was the blue cheese sauce but even this one I thought the flavors could have popped a little more. One night after returning to our flat from the dense crowds and pricey, touristic offerings of the Champs Elysées area of Paris, we found Chez Clara's cozy establishment ready to make their place extremely welcoming, and the traditional-inspired French menu as understandable as possible, notwithstanding our poor French-speaking skills. (They had an English copy of the menu, though we did our best with the French version.) About 18€ a person was amazing to get refreshing Picon orange bitters-laced beers along with French-homestyle entrée choices like confit of duck leg with green beans and new potatoes; lamb chops with pan sauce, pommes frites and salad; and honey-glazed duck breast with potatoes and salad--and even a fresh dessert crepe for our son.
