Mistake #1: Listening to the recommendation from the concierge at the Westin for a great little local place near the hotel. Mistake #2: Not leaving immediately upon being shuttled upstairs for dinner into a room full of tourists. As I heard a waiter say to a local that had wandered in (I think he assumed no one spoke French), "Not in that room, that is for the tourists." Food was mediocre at best - solid $25 for a plate of penne pasta with canned sauce and a single lonely basil leaf. Other dishes ordered at our table were devoid of flavor. I've eaten at this restaurant several times, and I've never been disappointed. Tonight was no different; I had sole meunière and a chardonnay. The sole was very good and served with mashed potatoes that complemented the delicate fish. I had a table for one just inside the building, but open onto the street, giving me shelter from the breeze but a good view of the traffic on the street. I erred by having the chocolat glacé for dessert. It was truly good, but it was too strong to follow the sole. I'm a fan of this restaurant, and recommend it. read more

This is my first Yelp review, and I've been a Yelp user for a long time - so that just tells you how much I liked this place! Great restaurant/bar near Place Vendome. We went in at about 6 pm on a Friday night with an 11-mo old infant. A waiter helped us get the stroller upstairs, all servers and the maitre d were very friendly. The maitre d was especially kind to our little girl - playing peekaboo, smiling and waving everytime he went by, giving her cookies to munch on, and giving us a wet wipe to clean her up - and never made us feel bad about the mess our lovely girl was creating. My husband and I shared four starter plates - 2 French onion soups, green bean salad, foie gras - and we ended with a molten chocolate cake; all very good. Price-wise it was totally normal for the area - nothing unreasonable, and well-worth it for the service and friendliness alone! read more

Our service was horrible!! They do not like people who speak French! I tried to translate and explain that the food was not cooked how I was fold it would be. This place is great if you want somewhere close to your hotel or in a bustling, fun area with great people watching- we stayed at the Westin Vendome- and go in knowing that it's just a bit overpriced- it is what it is. I will say that we went twice- once for a great little dinner and another time with friends for a quick pre-dinner cocktail- and both times there were lots of French patrons dining and drinking. We were ok being led to this spot by our concierge bc the service was lovely and attentive, very friendly, very accommodating, and the food was tasty! Our daughter got the French onion soup that we all tried- delicious. Husband and I shared a deliciously creamy pumpkin soup (presentation wonderful: poured hot at the table into your bowl with little hazelnuts) and the fois gras with toasts. All really good. Drinks at the bar area in the back were just fine! Service slightly slower bc they were packed and very busy. Still very nice, though! The decor is red velvety and warm, kind of retro. One of my favorite restaurants in Paris. The staff is warm, inviting, and provide great service. The food is excellent, I strongly suggest the tempura de gambas and the risotto de gambas crémeux. Follow it up with one of their outstanding desserts , perhaps the profiteroles a choclat xxl, and an after dinner cocktail. Tip: eat on the ground level of the restaurant in the bar area or al fresco. I frequent this wonderful restaurant, because I know I will leave very happy. read more

A wonderful corner cafe right around the corner from the Jardin des Tuileries. We stumbled upon this place years ago and this trip our concierge directed us here- for a great selection of food and cocktails. I am in love with the steak tartare and French onion soup, to be prepared with an espresso martini. You can never go wrong with some Sancerre, and they have it here by the bottle. The spring roles and foie gras are also great options. The host is friendly and accommodating and my niece loves the lollipop that was offered when we finished. This place is recommended to me by French locals. Needed a late night meal near Place Vendome - which really clears out after 9pm. So at 10pm wandered in. Had tuna tartare and a hamburger (recommended by my locals). Both were great. Place was pretty empty. You want to eat downstairs. Service was great and there was no attitude at all when I said we were business travelers who had to "eat and run" quickly. Love the atmosphere. So Parisian. In the Spring and Summer, this is a nice place for a late evening beer. I love that this place is open late. About 3-4 tables outside. Just off of Castiglione -- basically across the street and around the corner from the Westin. Convenient to the Westin, Mandarin Oriental and the Ritz. One block from Jardin Tuileries and two blocks or so from the Louvre. And color me a fan of Place Vendome and that great column. And thank you for the late night hours. read more

I had an amazing meal upstairs. The service, ambience, and food were excellent. Unfortunately, my after-dinner cognac at the bar was practically the cost of an expensive car payment. A cognac novice, I asked for a recommendation from the bartenders, and they let me drink TWO of their "favorite" before mentioning how much they were charging me. Very nice coffee and cakes. Located on one of the most famous and luxurious streets in Paris this bar is very easy to miss and it's a shame since the coffees and choice of cakes are first rate. 1 star is generous considering this was supposed to be a beautiful, Christmas dinner. My husband and I had dinner reservations for Christmas evening after traveling in for the United States. We were showed to our table quickly and that's where it ended. We were not given menus, water, bread, eye contact, a nod or wave for well over 45 minutes. To top it all off we were clearly seen as multiple waiters went around us to other tables. We attempted to get their attention however we went completely unnoticed. We eventually had to excuse ourselves and leave the restaurant as it was going on an hour without a single thing to eat or drink. Ten days in France and one really bad meal the entire trip. OMG forget that lunch cost 70 Euros for two entrées and one glass of Rose. The food was horrible at best. I had a club sandwich served on wonder bread that was something expected at an airport. My wife had a salad that hungry Zoo animals would have sent back.Our favorite area is Rue Saint-Honoré and it is a street ,one block away towards the Palace Vendome. Turn right walk a short distance and turn left on Marche Saint-Honoré. At the end of the street there are many places to enjoy an amazing meal. Huge crowds fill every place out to the street. When you see the big glass building you will know your in the right area. Don't be fooled by great burger reviews or great breakfast. The service is great and they cater to American's but there are better places in the area described. The fact it's off the beaten path and filled with locals plus tables are hard to get should say it all. read more
