    Asian Wings and Calamari

Although this place seems tucked away, Lazy Fish was packed when we went and totally worth it. The vibe is super fun and modern, great spot for sushi and drinks. I love the colorful decor especially the cherry blossoms! The calamari was crispy with a unique dipping sauce and banana peppers, my fave!! We tried the Volcano, Baltimore, Dragon Lady, and Lazy Shack rolls -- all good, but the Dragon Lady was the best with the asparagus and smoked salmon yum. We also wanted to get the mount fuji bit it was sold out. So try to get there early! The sake was delicious too. It tasted like pear and i liked how you pour it in a tiny shot glass. Definitely a cool place to have sushi in downtown Frederick!

I know, I know, I only gave it a 4, BUT we eat here all the time. This is the best sushi in Frederick by a long shot. This is probably the best sushi within a 40 minute drive. Do not write this place off over the 4. Now, the decor was redone in the last few years and I like it a lot; there's an explosion of pink "cherry blossoms" in the middle of the main dining level and the lights are always kept low. It is cozy inside, and it's always busy, so if you really want to eat here, you should make a reservation. Service is good, always friendly and attentive. The prices are pretty fair. I have paid a lot more for sushi that was a lot worse. We're pretty heavy orderers of the special rolls here, so I'm less familiar with their nigiri, entrees, or basic rolls, but some standouts that we keep coming back to are the Hello Yellow, Silly Sally, and the Keys. The fish is flavorful and fresh, if not the best I've ever encountered, and the rotating specials and appetizers are usually worth a try as well. They have never let me down.

The Lazy Shack roll is a comforting, flavorful bite that hits all the right notes. Crispy shrimp tempura pairs perfectly with creamy avocado and rich crab topping, while masago adds a pop of texture and scallions keep it fresh. A light drizzle of teriyaki brings everything together with just the right touch of sweetness. Paired with plum wine, the roll feels balanced and indulgent without being heavy--a smooth, satisfying choice.

The best but also creative sushi menu. A great Ambience as well. Will definitely be back!!

Decor - 5/5 Service - 4/5 Food - 3/5 We ordered the hot sake, Asian Wings, Truffle Hamachi, The Keys roll, and Shrimp Tempura roll. Everything was ok, a tad heavy-handed with the sauces, nothing tasted worthy of a repeat. The truffle hamachi was cut way too thick and The Keys roll flavor combo not jiving well at all (so much so that hubs couldn't stomach it and just spit it out)

Absolutely amazing little place! Fantastic dining option hidden in an alleyway in downtown Frederick. We went to Frederick for my birthday, and a coworker who lives nearby had recommended Lazy Fish to me. She nailed that recommendation. We will start with finding this place. Yelp said it was very nearby, but I didn't spot it right away. You are looking for an awning with the logo - it's in an alley. The food options here were perfect - a little of everything you'd expect in a sushi restaurant. We had a vegetarian assortment, which had the best avocado rolls either of us had ever tasted. It was actually kind of odd how good they were. I had a roll that contained pork belly, hoisin, sriracha, pineapple, and cucumber. This was quite delectable. The pork belly was cooked perfectly and the sauces elevated the salty pork products to a new level. The pineapple and cucumber added a crunch and some sweetness to the roll, balancing the flavors well. I also had some rare tuna crusted with black pepper and sesame seeds. The tuna basically melted on my mouth. Staff were friendly and attentive. Note that this one of those places that closes for a few hours between lunch and dinner, which are almost always better places to eat...and that shows here for sure.

The vibe and decor of this restaurant was great! We enjoyed our food and the server was friendly. I feel like the basic/simple rolls (I.e. salmon or tuna) were a bit more expensive than I'd go for but I enjoyed the creativity of the rolls I had. I do feel as if there was some flavor lacking in the creamy crab on the lazy shack roll but otherwise I'd recommend this spot!

Ordered takeout- crunchy spicy scallop roll, salmon roll, orioles roll, and shark tank Both specialty rolls were a stand out. Especially the shark tank roll. The seared pepper tuna on top was delicious. Fish was all very fresh. I would come back here

    Calamari and Salmon Tartare appetizers

This is a decent sushi spot in Frederick. I'd say the sushi was pretty good and fresh, but not the best I've had. Somewhat limited in the rolls they have. For appetizers, we had the Calamari and the Salmon Tatare. Both were very good. For dinner, I had the Lazy Rainbow, a Salmon Avocado roll, and some Salmon rolls. All were pretty good, but nothing out of the ordinary. Our party also shared a Baltimore roll and that was ok. Someone else in our party got the Lazy Spaghetti. That was an interesting dish, especially at a sushi restaurant, that had a Thai/curry twist to it. Pretty good and pretty unique. Overall, a good meal here with decent to average sushi rolls.

We went here after a recital at the Weinberg Saturday night. It was such a beautiful night overall and it wasn't just the delicious sushi (and my son got steak), but the service and kindness of the staff and I'm pretty sure the owner made it perfect. My daughter received an award that we were looking at and they wanted to see it too and we're just amazing to us. Great celebration restaurant.

I went with my wife and this place was amazing! The service was amazing and the food was very delicious! It was so open and lively and it was a true diamond in the haystack! Me and my wife would definitely come back any day any time! Highly recommend to anyone!!!

Very cute little sushi restaurant tucked into the heart of downtown Frederick. I feel like if you didn't know it was here, you would never go! It's located on the second/third floor of a downtown building, and the entrance is a ramp followed by an interior set of stairs. There is no restaurant window glowing brightly to attract you inside as you watch diners consuming delicious sushi, so, you just have to know! I've only been there two times, but both times, we had large parties and made reservations. Reservations are limited to 2 hours because the space is actually quite small, and well, they are quite popular. Expect to wait on a weekend or even any evening they are open! I almost feel like if you don't know about it, you won't know about it until you find it on Yelp or someone tells you. So, go, already! They have an extensive menu for all palates- so just because someone doesn't like sushi, that doesn't mean they will be unhappy here. In fact, you can find food that is not sushi that is filling - they have a bunch of noodle dishes and protein centered options, as well as fun appetizers like tempura, edamame, wings and dumplings. It's quite an impressive menu that had me very happy, as it did for everyone else. I am a sushi fan of the vegetable variety, so I was very glad that they had a vegetable assortment that I could order. It was a good amount, but, I am a hungry diner, so I added more to it to make my belly happy. I suppose next time I could just go with an appetizer, but I prefer sushi! The rest of the parties also enjoyed their sushi, noodles, bento boxes and protein-centered dishes. Everyone was happy. They have happy hour specials, too, if you dine on the earlier side. The food Is fresh and comes out quickly, relatively speaking. The staff are very helpful and knowledgeable. They also have Tamara for those folks avoiding soy sauce/ gluten. All in all, I would be back here anytime someone suggests it! I will try to suggest it and convince more to join me! So good!

New favorite spot in Frederick alert??…read more We have always had a soft spot for Asian fusion, especially Thai fusion, and this place did not disappoint! From the decor to the food, I was so thoroughly impressed with the experience. For appetizer we got the Massamun potstickers, and I got the Garlic Crispy Chicken rice bowl. David got the Supreme Noodle. Massamun Potstickers: Crispy on the outside, plenty of massamun curry sauce to dip the potstickers in. Only wish that there was a little more filling on the inside of the potstickers. Save the sauce if you get a rice bowl so that it doesn't go to waste! Garlic Crispy Chicken Bowl: This came LOADED with deliciously saucy yet crispy chicken bites layered with a spicy mayo sauce and sides of cucumber and carrots. There was a TON of rice too, perhaps too much but not a complaint. For $17 this was a pretty good deal. I love a good mix of soup and rice so with my leftover rice I had some of David's soup that came with the Supreme Noodles! Supreme Noodles: Portion was a bit small for $22 and wish there was more protein, but still so good. The honey roasted pork was surprisingly tender and not dry at all (I was thinking it would be like a hard/dry pork but it was saucy and flavorful!). You can pour the side soup inside or have separately, very yummy! Wish we had room for dessert (they had a Thai tea cheesecake that I am dying to try). Also see lots of people getting the Chor Muang dumplings so will have to try those next time too (our server confirmed those were popular).

The Bloom miso soup had assorted mushrooms, like enoki and shiitake, and a good portion as well, silken tofu, scallions, and big flakes of wakame seaweed. The crunchy tempura soft shell crab bao bun is a must try as well. It comes with fries and salad. Good eats!

I liked the addition of panko breadcrumbs for crunch, but I wish the imitation crab meat had been shredded more finely for better texture. For my entree, I ordered the Spicy Basil Crispy Duck (added $1 for Thai spicy). They definitely delivered on the spicy level, but the duck itself was not crispy. It came with rice and bell peppers and basil. The sushi tasted fresh, which was good. Service could use some improvement. We had to ask for small bowls for soy sauce, and when we requested a dessert menu to celebrate the birthday, we were told the kitchen had already closed. It would have been nice if our server had given us a heads up before the kitchen closed. The ambiance is cozy. It almost feels like dining in someone's house. They had Halloween decorations up and murals of historic Frederick painted on the walls. They also have a private parking lot, which made it convenient. Overall, food was good, but a little more attentiveness from the staff would've made the experience even better.

On our last visit, a few Sunday nights ago, we popped in at dinner time on impulse and were seated immediately, though it's not a big space and it gets a lot of traffic. We walked through the little bar to the interesting and well-appointed dining room. I ordered a Singha beer and my wife got her standard Thai iced tea, very well made here. We split an appetizer of delicious crispy firecracker shrimp. She got her favorite, Pad Thai with shrimp, and I got mine, creamy green curry with chicken (I chose a 3 out of 4 on spiciness, which was close to my limit!).
