Enjoyed the food here. Restaurant is clean and the service was really nice. It was a peaceful vibe. Kinda made me feel like I was in Brooklyn, NY honestly. Although the area is sketchy, it has a sense of warmth and welcome inside. I took off a star because the place was not crowded at all and our food was not rushed out (Good thing), but once it did come the rice was cold. However, the issue was immediately rectified. I had the chicken plate and my wife had the lamb plate. Very very very delicious. The portion size was nice. She also got the fresh fruit juice (Mango). That was good too. We will go back again. I really loved the atmosphere and the food.

Wow this food is so good. We went on a Saturday for an early lunch around 11am. The chicken and rice plate was amazing. Tender juicy chicken and whatever rub or marinade on it is incredible. The ladies that helped us were fantastic. Honestly the best chicken and rice I have had in the Bay Area. AND I didn't care for the hot sauce at all. It's all about the rice and chicken. Hot sauce has almost a brine type taste to it. Olives would be my guess. Different but not my speed. Didn't matter at all.

Lazeez Kitchen opens where Layalina was with a slight modification of the menu & decor, leaving the infrastructure intact. Ordered at counter, pd, got food in 15ish minutes. Offerings (N. African?, Middle Eastern): wraps & shawarmas, plates, appetizers, drinks.. Bites: lamb Shawarma plate (18.95) -small salad of romaine lettuce, tomato, onions, cucumbers & white dressing crunchy fresh. -small strips of braised boneless lamb shoulder slightly chewy, slightly juicy. Prepped with olive oil, nutmeg, garlic, salt, peppers & other spices, topped with white drizzle probably yogurt. *side of chili sauce probably North African harissa: blend of chili peppers, garlic, olive oil + other spices. Not spicy hot, has sweet, smoky, tangy & non-hot spicyness. **a contrast to Ethiopian berbere sauce which has sharp, hot spiciness. Lotsa yellow coloured flavored long grain rice. Looks like saffron, probably wasn't. Unable to finish. Took rest home for another meal. -though didn't know exact origins. It was certainly different from previous Shawarma eats.

Lamb Shank with Rice was great. The lamb fell clean off the bone. If you have ever had birria with consome, the texture and flavor of the broth is very similar and delicious. Better suited for two folks to share or one person if you enjoy a larger dish. Lamb Shawarma plate, 2nd picture was great. Great service, great food and very well organized. Great for one person. I would definitely have to come back again, and great markets close by !

Can I give 10 stars for the lamb shank rice and special foul hummus and falafel plates?! I NEED Lazeez Kitchen! Vibe and Venue: Casual eatery where order is placed at the counter. Overhead menu similar to fast food places. Enticing baklava and pastries were in cases. Staff was friendly. The restaurant was very clean and with the appearance that it was recently renovated. At 6 pm on a Saturday, it was almost empty and quiet but people stopped by for to-go orders. A couple of solo diners enjoying a quiet dinner. Eats: 1. Lamb shank with rice and salad, with sauce on the side 2. Special foul with hummus and falafel served with pita bread. 3. Lamb shawarma 4. Baklava to go We loved our food! The lamb shank was so flavorful and tender. The sauce on the side was so delicious! We also love the hummus and falafel with pita. It came with whole chickpeas which I never had an appetizer like this before. It was a very enjoyable and satisfying dinner! Tab was $69 before tip with 1 soda and lots of food for the next 2-3 meals! Big portions and lots of food!

I really wanted to love this spot--especially with all the glowing reviews--but my experience was a bit underwhelming. I ordered the falafels, which were decent but nothing to write home about. The Toum (garlic paste) was surprisingly flavorless, and the hot sauce, while okay, could've used more depth. The yogurt cucumber side really missed the mark for me--it lacked the tangy, herby punch I was hoping for. The sambosa had potential but again, felt like it needed a flavor boost. And the chicken shawarma wrap? A bit too greasy and missing those bold, traditional Middle Eastern spices that usually make it sing. Maybe I just didn't order the right items--based on all the great reviews, others clearly had a better experience. Might give it another try and hope for a different outcome.

Good food, competent service, and a clean environment make for a pleasant experience. Ordered the humus plate, falafel wrap, chicken shawarma wrap, and beef shawarma wrap. Portions are generous and the food made fresh. High marks for the humus, falafel and chicken - both seasoned nicely and delicious. Fair marks for the beef which could use some more seasoning. Do give it a try!

Great lunch spot! There are tables to set at as well as a higher seated table if you'd like to stand or sit higher. Staff are friendly as well! I ordered the chicken shawarma wrap & a 6-piece side of falafels.

We ordered a mini lamb wrap, mini chicken wrap, rose tamarind drink and mint lemonade. The lamb was gristly and dry, so I preferred the chicken wrap, but was disappointed to find that it featured only chicken (well-seasoned and juicy) and did not have any tomatoes, cucumbers, or other vegetables like the lamb wrap did. The chicken wrap was only chicken and lavash. Perhaps it was an oversight on the staff's part, even though the restaurant was not busy during a Friday lunch. And it also still took some time to get our orders out even though we were the only ones in line and there were only two other parties eating there. Maybe there were tons of to-go orders they had to fulfill? I'll be sure to check out the Santa Clara location as well in the future, but for this luncheon, we had to temper our disappointment by going around the corner to get some Gregory's.

The kabeb dishes came with grilled tomato, grilled pepper, rice with tadig on top. They also make this pink butter to put on the rice. Food is good and everything was seasoned well and not over cooked. I want to give this place a try again but they need to work on their customer service. They catered more to other tables and we didn't even get offered the dessert menu like the other tables around us. Also, we had to ask for the check and no one even came to check if we were ready to pay we had to go up there.

I got an assortment of Turkish delight and some pistachio baklava ($2.99). The Turkish delight is sold by weight across all the varieties and goes for $16.99/lb. The guy behind the counter was super friendly and offered us a sample of one of the flavors to try which I thought was a nice gesture. Everything looked so good, so we picked a couple different pieces of Turkish delight to try. To my surprise, my favorite ended up being the saffron, though rose petal with pomegranate and sour cherry with pastachio were close seconds. I didn't like the coconut or the chocolate one that much, so reminder to myself to skip those next time. After picking up the dessert, I did a quick circle around the store to see what they had. The market itself is a treasure trove: shelves filled with Middle Eastern dry goods, nuts, dried fruits, spices, blends, and condiments you can't find anywhere else. Kofta, shish kebab, falafel, sumac, garam masala -- it's all here. They also carry pita, lavash, labna, and other breads and yogurts that make cooking from scratch feel like heaven. Bonus points for the large assortments of delicious house made baklavas! Even without a full kitchen, the prepared foods are excellent. I ordered falafel, eggplant dip, hummus, and cucumber salad from the to‑go counter -- a mini feast for $26 that didn't disappoint. **Verdict:** Courteous service, respectful staff, and a fantastic selection. Whether you're cooking at home or grabbing a bite, this place is a gem. Highly recommended.

They're opening a halal kitchen next door, and we got to try everything on the menu. They have burgers, shawarma, and wings, and everything is made in-house and fully halal. We tried all of it, and the flavors were truly outstanding. I really enjoyed everything we had. The wings were super flavorful and lowkey reminded me of San Tung in SF. The burger was a standout. Juicy, well-seasoned, and just really hit. I'd genuinely come back just for the burger alone. The shawarma was also really good, fresh, and full of flavor. Overall, everything we tried was solid, and you can tell a lot of care goes into the food. This is shaping up to be a great halal food spot in Oakland, and I'll definitely be back.

When I came in, I wasn't sure what I was supposed to do, and the server said I could sit anywhere, though when I was ready to order, they made me come to the register. I would've ordered to go to the register first to place my order and then sit down. I ordered the Lamb Kabob, which came with a side salad, hummus, tzatziki, and rice. The rice was kind of mushy and a little spicy. It didn't really taste fresh. There was also way too much of it. They could go down to 75% of that volume. The side salad, which consisted of tomatoes and cucumbers, was fine. The tzatziki was pretty good and creamy. The lamb was dry and tough to chew, so I used the tzatziki, which helped slightly. The real surprise was the hummus. It was SO good! It was creamy and flavorful. I would eat more hummus if store-bought hummus tasted like this. I couldn't finish all of the food, so I took home leftovers in my own Tupperware. I wasn't looking forward to eating them again, but the leftovers were better than I expected. All in all, while I'm glad this place uses a lot of reusable foodware (see Eco Notes below), the food wasn't tasty enough to keep me coming back (aside from the amazing hummus). I hope that I happened to get their worst dish or they had an off day.
