I have no problems with nail salons that aren't frou frou. I don't mind the lack of cucumber water. What does bother me is when you can just tell the place hasn't been cleaned in a while, when the foot sponges look like they've been scrubbing strong since '07, and where the NAIL LADY USES HER SHARP-ASS THUMBNAIL AS A CUTICLE IMPLEMENT. NASTY. Not only was that disgusting, it was painful. Usually a nice foot massage makes me forget a multitude of sins, but that wasn't a problem here, since my Sonicare toothbrush goes longer than these ladies when it comes to a massage. The only good thing about the place is that my pedicure looks decent. So that's how they earned one star (not that I have a choice on Yelp, but that's besides the point). But never again, Eiffel Tower...never.

She initially charged $65 for a lash fill and $75 for a full set. Later, she told me I needed a $95 full set only two weeks after my previous appointment. For pedicures, she agreed to match the $47 I paid at Gem Nails. She first charged me $45, then later $56. When I questioned the increase, she said she knew someone at Gem and had one of her own customers call to ask about their pricing. I had to show her six or seven bank statements to prove what I paid. I don't believe her claim about knowing someone at Gem, and the exchange made me feel as though she was calling me a liar over a price she had agreed to match. I paid $95 for my most recent lash set, which she did on Thursday. I first messaged her Monday about the lashes hurting my eye and sent photos. By Wednesday, after three days of trying to get a response, she finally replied. Her text says she didn't know how to fix them and that the only solution was to remove them and do a new set, implying I'd have to pay again, even though I was asking her to fix the set she had just applied. I'm posting that text and attaching photos with arrows showing the uneven lashes. They were glued facing inward, wouldn't brush outward, and hurt my eye. Nicole blamed my brushing, but brushing cannot change the direction the lashes were glued. In that same text, she said most of my lashes were gone when I came in for refills. She was the one doing my refills every two weeks, so that raises a serious question about the retention of her work. After I said I would leave a review, she sent a smiling, sweating emoji and told me I could do whatever I wanted. I won't return for lashes or pedicures.

I am a tourist from Australia in need of getting my SNS nails redone, I checked out a lot of salons in the Belmont Shore area and after much reading of reviews on Yelp I settled on Lavender Nails. I couldn't be happier with the results, have just had my SNS Powder Nails done by Kelly. Kelly was friendly and made me feel welcome. Kelly paid attention to detail, making sure the coverage was right and the lengths were all the same. Lavender Nails Salon is clean with a nice buzzy friendly atmosphere amongst staff and clients, even as a new client I was warmly welcomed. I have paid for very inexpensive service that initially attracted me to a salon... meh... The standard in the industry is to offer "callous removal" and that usually involves a more in depth massage. It usually costs a little extra, but I'm a sucker for a good foot scratching and massage. I have been up and down 2nd street and Naples, I have gone outside the shore to get a better deal. Well, my sistas, it's not worth the $10 you save. THIS place is the real deal. You actually get a TIMED 10 minute massage with a pedicure. And by the way, it's an actual massage. Not rubbing lotion on your legs which I do for myself every day on the shower, thank you very much. Besides that, the time and attention to the actual act of the filing, painting, etc that goes into a good service is not remiss at this salon. Like I said before, it's the REAL DEAL. I'm kind of leery posting this because I don't want it to be so busy they can't take me as a walk-in, but, hell! I'll make appointments from now on. What a truly great experience. Pay the extra $10. Buck up little fillies, it's worth it.

I came in for a new gel extension set and spent over 2 hours getting the run around and sitting at the table, while the only nail tech (that could do gel extensions) was tending to other customers in the middle of my session. She accepted two pedicures while I sat there waiting for her to finish my set, which resulted in her rushing through the process and applying my nails poorly - crooked nail, wrong sizes, nails not fully covered, in addition to lack of service. I wish I had said something in person or walked out, but I couldn't get myself to do it. I felt bad because while all this was happening, three girls walked in with an appointment and they had to wait until I was done (at least another 30 min). So to the person running this place, please do not say you can take an appointment when you clearly don't have the capacity.

Getting my nails done is something of a chore for me - I hate sitting still for that long - so…read morepre-COVID, I always splurged on a higher end experience at a salon in Belmont Heights, because if I was going to be strapped to a chair for 60-90 minutes, I damn sure should be overpaying for the privilege! :) Post-covid, my favorite tech from my aforementioned salon left the business for a 9-5 but did in-home work for favored clients, of which I was one, so that's how I rolled for several years. However, about a year ago, I wanted to get my nails done to treat myself prior to a surgery, and I stopped in here without an appointment. Since then, they have become my go-to, as someone who only bothers to go every 4-6 weeks. I've walked in even on relatively busy days and haven't had to wait (it's like ladies just materialize!), their work is fine [for my purposes], they are reasonably-priced, they are very friendly, the vibe is very chill. A couple of notes - I don't get gel nails, just regular mani-pedis, so I can't speak to gel or acrylic experiences. I'll also say that at the more expensive salon, the polish seems to last longer (and I always bring my own color, so perhaps it's a difference in base/top and/or application). The higher end salon is also a little better at callous removal. But for the price and convenience, as someone who basically just goes to get "cleaned up" and not to impress anyone later, I don't have any real complaints. As has been mentioned, they accept credit for payment, but tips need to be in cash. I usually stop in unplanned and often find myself without cash, but fortunately, there's a credit union ATM steps away that solves the problem.

I had my toes done on Friday and it is now Wednesday and I am sitting here painting my toes on my work trip because EVERY single nail is badly chipped. I've literally never seen something like this. Also, I paid the $7 for callus removal but they don't do anything beyond what would happen in a normal pedicure, and took only about 30 seconds--if even--per foot for the "added service", no wrap and wait with softener either like they are meant to.
