This was our first time on Long Beach/ Lido beach so decided to go to a nearby diner. The reviews don't do this place justice! The place was PACKED!! but we were somehow seated after waiting outside for only about 5 mins. During prime breakfast time, on Sunday, around 11am. While greeted by a wonderful female host, I'm not sure her name, she found us a great spot in the corner. Our waitress, Angela, was so friendly and patient with us and our kids! She was awesome!! The food came out almost instantly. Soup of the day was Avgolemono and tasted authentic! We had the eggs Benedict with a side of home fries. I dont know what special something was in the home fries, but I don't really like potatoes (I'd much rather my carbs be pasta haha) and I only know of one spot in queens who has bomb home fries comparable to these. They were delicious!!! The eggs perfectly poached. We also had this thanksgiving turkey dinner meal situation, and the turkey was perfectly moist, delicious mashed potatoes that were NOT powdered, and yummy stuffing! Our kids split the Cinnabon pancakes and they were fantastic!!! Perfect ratio of everything! Thank you so so so much! First I want to say that we continue to frequent this diner because the food is so delicious. I'm fairly new to the area & this place was recommended to me. I've gone several times and everything has always been great. I usually frequent during the week so it's not overly crowded. This past Friday night was a different story. On Friday night this place was crazy busy. That was a different experience because like I said I normally go during the week. There was an issue with my takeout order which made me return for a 2nd time & messed up my dinner plans with family. I also had questions regarding my gift card which I didn't feel were handled In the way a valued customer should be treated. Again I can understand because they were so busy. I was told to come back Monday morning and speak to Andrew who is one of the owners. Andrew went above and beyond. I felt like a valued customer. Andrew took my concerns very seriously and he rectified the entire situation and credited my gift card. If you are like me and like to give your business to a mom and pop place then go for it. Our favorites are the brisket of beef dinner and the burgers. There's so much more on the menu that I haven't tried yet but I'm confident over time we will! Small diner fare in a place that's been here for ages. We had to wait about 10 minutes for a table at around 2pm. They do a steady business. People were still coming in when we're left and ask the tables were full. Friendly service and decent food keeps this place going. First let me preface by saying, I was a lifelong Long Beach resident up until 2 years ago and grew up around the corner from the Laurel Luncheonette(what it was called back in the day.) I have many memories including buying Virginia Slim cigarettes for my mother at 42 cents a pack back when. Ok, enough of strolling down memory lane.... Yes, its diner food and delicious. No matter what you get, eggs, pancakes, burgers...all good. What made me ding it, was the service. Yes, the joint was jumping, but slow from the start. I'm not talking about the long wait to sit. Expected. But after we sat and handed the menus, table service took a full 9 minutes till we even got water or were asked for pre meal drinks, cawfee, tea, etc.... Once we saw our waiter, another 6 minutes till our cawfee and sodas arrived. Then another 16 minutes till our food arrived. Another 5 minutes to get the correct amount of silverware since we were not provided correctly from the start. Let's not talk about cawfee refills....almost non existent. Just seems like our table, at the front window got ignored. An hour and 15 minutes to eat 3 pancakes and 2 fat sausage links(again the food is delicious) a little unreasonable. A great neighborhood place, for eat in or delivery. Food is what you would expect in a diner, and plentiful in terms of portion size. We have never had a problem with service while in there, always attentive and quick to clear the table or give a refill on drinks. Ordering out, the portion sizes are usually large enough for two meals. Recommended. read more

One more thing that I do not like is those disgusting rags they use to clean the tables with! OMG it is so gross! They also wipe down the seats too. I gag every time I see them to that. Visited Laurel Diner on a Sunday morning and it was a full house! You can tell this diner has a good system in place though as we were seated only after about a five minute wait. The waitress brought us to a booth in the back which was comfortable and roomy. The vibe here is really cool and old school looking. We were brought our waters and coffees quickly but we needed a while to look at the menu because there was soo many options. I decided to go with the corned beef breakfast. Soooooo gooood! It came with hash browns and eggs. I feel like the corned beef was a little dry so I had to break the egg on top of it and eat it with the yolk but it tasted really delicious anyways! The toast and hash browns were delish. I really liked this place and can't wait to come back to try their dinner and lunch options! read more

Hi Everyone ! Thank you to My Yelp friend Jason from Long Beach. He turned me on to his hometown Cool vibe Diner. The Laurel Diner is located on the corner of Laurelton Boulevard. Walking inside I loved the cool retro vibes the Laurel has. Pictures of Long Beach yesteryears adorned the walls. The front counter was colorfully attractive, wonderfully designed made you just want to sit down. I chose a booth for today, but will definitely will sit at the cool front counter next time. My server Teddy was right on point. He arrived moments after I sat down and my fresh hot coffee was to the table within minutes. The breakfast specials were really great included juice and coffee. Today I chose The lumberjack special. This BIG JIM type breakfast is so big you're lucky to finish it. You have your choice of Pancakes or French toast with Ham, Sausages and Bacon. Don't forget, you get two eggs anyway you like them included. Pre softened slabs of real butter came with the pancakes in little cups. I loved it they spread easily on the hot steaming stack. I was very pleased with my breakfast this morning. The sausages were really first-rate. The natural casing type, they were sweet and juicy. The Bacon had a wonderful balance of Maple sweetness to Hickory smoke. I noticed that the bacon was of premium-quality and sliced a little thicker. The ham on the bottom had a delightful sugar to Salt ratio and topped the meal off beautifully. The eggs were fluffy hot and nice and sweet. A perfect meal, paired with the strong hot coffee and chilled Apple Juice. Honestly, this the breakfast was among the best I have had in months. I was all ready to go for my busy day. I have to give the Laurel Restaurant 5 stars! The food was great and it's soo cool and relaxing inside. How can you go wrong? Friendly courteous service and a cool beach Style retro aviance. I really can't say anything bad about the food, this has everything to do with the people that takes the orders , some are just nasty azzholes ! You tell them what you want and they say ok ok, 20 minutes, you go to pick up the food and it's either someone else's order or the order is all messed up, when they're very busy they think they're doing you a favor for making your food., I had to stop going there cause its nothing but a headache, if you dine In , Theres a nasty waitress that comes to your table twice, once to take your order and then after you leave to see what kind of tip you left. Twice they charged my card for food and I was no where near the place that day. im just staying away, plenty of places for food in Long Beach. read more

NEVER order pumpkin pancakes from this place or you are guaranteed to get a plate of mush. They use way too much canned pumpkin or whatever they do to make them so wet. It was like this last year and I thought it was a fluke so I tried them again yesterday..nope not a fluke, came out the same way. Apparently it's just their way of making them. Also ordered an egg cream that was fiat and too sweet so I asked for another. Lo and behold it came out the same way. I was too annoyed to send it back and wasn't bothering to complain about the pancakes after I already did about the egg cream. After spending $30 bucks for a plate wet mushy pancakes and a flat egg cream I'm just chalking this one up as a loss. I would say overall the place is cool looking but the vibe from the staff is not a warm one. Maybe because they've gotten too comfortable after being here forever and have plenty of business so they don't need yours.
