Her cakes are great, but she did not respond to me for almost 2 weeks the month of my wedding. Despite calls, voicemails, and emails the month of my wedding to confirm what time she was going to come as my cake cutting was earlier in the day than typical weddings, she was not responsive and I was worried that she ghosted me and I would be cakeless at my wedding. I was stressing and looking into alternative cake options as a plan B in case she didn't show. Not something I wanted to be stressed about the week before my wedding. Before finding Laura, my husband and I had tried a few well known local bakeries and were pretty disappointed with how flavorless and dry every cake we tried was. I found Laura through Instagram and was blown away by how beautiful her cakes were. I messaged her to set up a tasting and she was booked months out. I wanted to book her though as my wedding was coming up, some told me I was crazy to book her (and pay in full) before even trying her cake, but I had so much confidence in her. We ended up having our tasting a few months later (1 month before our wedding) and OH MY GOODNESS. Everything we trying was delicious, flavorful and moist. We went with a lemon cake with a lemon curd, raspberry's and a fresh buttercream and it was hands down the best tasing and most beautiful cake I've had in my entire life. The cakes tasted amazing but what blew us away was how talented she is. She took the time to discuss our wedding, the theme we were going for and helped us pick out designs to meet our taste. We choose a ruffle design and a wood grain for our cake along with cupcakes topped with hand made sugar succulents. She even had the perfect cake stands to go with our venue and other decorations. Absolutely loved our wedding cake! Laura was fantastic to work and answered any questions we had in a timely matter. Our theme for our wedding was 1920's Great Gatsby inspired and Laura nailed the cake. It was perfect with feathers and all! Our main cake was even gluten free and a delicious moist gluten free, not the dry grainy type! I had so many compliments on the taste of the cake I don't think we even had left overs! All of my gluten sensitive and celiac friends were so excited that they could actually enjoy wedding cake too, and a delicious one at that! My husband and I were extremely disappointed on our wedding day to find that the blush pink cake we ordered, (inspired by one of Laura Marie's other cakes) was gray instead of blush. Unfortunately gray was not one of our theme colors, so the mishap was a pretty big deal to us. Enclosed is the inspiration picture that we shared by email and in person during our tasting, and the second photo is what we received. We did order a round tiered cake, so the shape was correct. During our tasting, Laura explained how she attains the color and style of the requested cake (see attached) and being that she is a professional cake designer, we completely trusted her. After the wedding, we brought the mishap to her attention and she apologized and mentioned that the contract clearly stated that the cake would be gray with a tad of blush "tbd" (whatever that means! Do you see any blush?). Being that our colors were gold, ivory, burgundy and blush, there is no way that I would have confirmed a gray wedding cake! I was completely appalled that this even happened because our inspiration cake was one of her own blush cakes. After reading another review of Laura Marie Cakes, it appears that communication is an issue and customers don't always receive what they request. If you do decide to go with Laura Marie Cakes, I strongly encourage you to thoroughly read the contract and the notes she jots down to make sure that the color, design and shape is exactly to your liking because that is what you are paying for. Please note that Laura did not offer a discount or refund or any sort to compensate for the mishap. I truly hope this doesn't happen to another bride and groom on their wedding day. read more

I actually found Laura on Instagram; I had a marble theme for my wedding and she was doing hand-painted Carrera veins on fondant. She was the only baker we met with because of her designs and vision. Her tasting was kind of limited, but the cakes were so delicious that we ended up with two of the four flavors that we tried. I asked her to make a surprise groom's cake replicating my finance's helmet and she did a great job. She is responsive and so easy to work with, a very sweet person.
