Pull apart cinnamon bun
Jamie P.

Visited launderette for brunch and we were able to snag a spot in their parking lot. The pastries were fantastic, especially their pastry of the day. The pull apart bun is also really good. I'd go back just to have those again. All of their breads are made in house. We ordered two burgers and the fried chicken sandwich. Everything was good and the service was decent. We made a reservation for 11:15 since it's a Sunday, but there were always a few tables available inside.

Brunch Fried Chicken Sammie Specialty

We came for Sunday brunch based on a friend's recommendation. It was a nice brunch really but I'm not in a rush to hurry back. Portions were a little light for prices charged but I guess that's often the case once you win awards and need to manage budgets. My chicken patty in my sandwich was a little thinner than pictures I'd seen posted online. It was fine but not memorable. The fries were nice and crispy but didn't come with the $18 chicken sandwich and were $10 extra. $28 is a bit much for that meal. The highlights were the sticky bun and ice cream sandwich. Service was very friendly and attentive. Cool retro modern atmosphere. Parking was easy to find. Maybe I'll try their dinner menu sometime in the future for more wow.

One of our favorite meals while visiting Austin! We grabbed brunch on a perfect Sunday morning and left beyond satisfied. Our waitress made 2 recommendations and we loved them both. I accompanied my meal with some orange wine and it was perfect. The Turkish Eggs were unlike anything I've ever experienced. The hummus and labneh were so savory and the eggs were incredible. The chicken dish was also super fresh and cooked well. The salad on top with the tahini dressing was the perfect compliment. Great service and super cute vibe. I'd definitely come back when in town.

My son took us to Launderette for a birthday brunch, and it was a great choice. The place is bright, clean, and has a fun, free-spirited vibe that makes you want to linger. We started with the Pull-Apart Bun, which came out warm and was absolutely delicious. I had the Shawarma Cauliflower Bowl--it was fresh, flavorful, and surprisingly filling. My son ordered the Fried Chicken Sammie and really enjoyed it. Since we were celebrating, we also tried the Birthday Cake Ice Cream Sandwich, and it was a delicious way to end the meal. Overall, it's a great brunch spot with a relaxed atmosphere and excellent food. I'll definitely be back, this time with my friends!

Very cute place with good food. Our waitress was nice and checked in appropriately. I felt the portions were on the smaller side but still reasonable for the prices which were fair. The sticky pull apart bun was delicious. My breakfast sandwich had good homemade bakery bread. The negative was the stems in my greenery. The chicken sandwich had good flavor but on the smaller side. Burger was just ok. Ice cream birthday sandwich was good. All in all a good meal but left a touch hungry.

Steak and eggs

Great brunch spot. We got there on ACL Saturday to refuel. We started with their pastry of the day, that was a hazelnut croissant, but it was more like a roll and I didn't think the texture was on point, not enough layers, not crunchy enough. We got their burger and it was great, I appreciated the simplicity of it, great bun, juicy patty. We also got their steak and eggs, this was my favorite, the chimichurri was delicious and the meat was perfectly cooked. We got a couple of cappuccinos to go and they were delicious, perfect microfoam. The place looks great, with a very simple, welcoming atmosphere and a lot of natural light, and the service was excellent.

Broccolini, shawarma cauliflower, zucchini salad

Launderette. My hands were busy here. It started with sweeping the seats clear as I awkwardly scooched in to my seat on the corner booth bench. Then I was busy waving flies away from my drink and food (we were seated indoors). I waved my hands several times trying to get the attention of our server. The food was overpriced. We had the $32 chicken (good), $28 pasta (this is like a flaky filled focaccia, was quite good), $18 burger (eh not good), brussel sprouts (delicious), broccolini (so so), zucchini salad (ok), carrot cake (delicious), and birthday cake ice cream sandwich (the real reason we came! Alas, meh the cookie dough cookie was too salty). Half priced drinks happy hour from 5pm-6pm Mon-Fri.

Yum yum yum! Came for the first time for my friend's birthday brunch and was pleasantly surprised. Every single dish was packed with new flavors and combinations that just worked. The asparagus Benny just made so much sense when you think about it. Eggs Benedict requires hollandaise and asparagus with hollandaise is always delicious. Why not put it all together for the best benny I've had in a long time? Just delicious! Lattes were cute and the perfect start to a brunch meal. We added lavender to mine and a little brown sugar flavor to hers. Good stuff! Turkish egg? Yep, exactly what I was thinking. What in the world is that. I don't know if it was a traditional dish but what an explosion of flavor. Put it all together on a perfectly toasted piece of bread and bam! Perfect accompaniment to a perfect brunch. Last but not least the Salmon Gravlax. Looks simple but by no means did it taste simple. Caviar on a buttery spread. Spicy pickles, perfectly cooked egg, seasoned tomatoes, rye bread. None of these are special in themselves but when combined, yes! Amazingness! Oh and the service? Wonderful! Attentive, kind, knowledgeable and welcoming. Space? Super cute! Felt like we were in a vacation town somewhere in Florida. Very retro, cool. Loved everything about this place. Zero complaints. Millions of compliments. Highly recommend!

Perfect spot for a working lunch

I pass Launderette all the time on my way to kayak at Lady Bird Lake, so I finally chose it for lunch with a coworker. Definitely make a reservation if you can, this place stays busy. Parking is limited, but there's usually street parking nearby. The space is super cute and well decorated, with a great East Austin vibe. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, which is perfect for Austin's weather. I ordered the fried shrimp and frites, and everything was fresh and delicious. You can tell they care about quality. Service was impeccable, attentive and smooth without being over the top. I was too full for dessert this time, but I'll be back to try more of the menu, especially the birthday cake ice cream sandwhich. This historic location is great date spot, a cute work lunch option, or an easy stop after yoga or cycling. And being that close to the trails makes dessert feel just a bit less like cheating.

I went to the laundrette for lunch today and everything was top notch. The service, the food and the cute restaurant. I came with my 4 little children and they were so great about us and also having a table around the corner was great. I'm always paranoid about my kids being too loud We had the deviled eggs, burrata, shrimp for starters and chicken paillard and Brussels for mains. For dessert we had the birthday cake sandwich and the apple streusel dessert. Best dish was probably the apple dessert. Tasted like apple crumble and ice cream. Least favourite was the chicken paillard. Nothing wrong with it. Just compared to everything else this was boring. But you always need something like this for the boring person you're out to dinner with

Great happy hour deals and a very cute vibe. The Shawarma Cauliflower was vegan as-is, and it was good! Our server was kind and knowledgeable about the menu, and overall we had a great time.

Apple Streusel Sundae

Had lunch at The Launderette on the east side of Austin with a work colleague and really enjoyed the entire experience. The atmosphere is fantastic, the staff is genuinely friendly, and it is just an easy, comfortable place to spend a couple hours. We started with the potato chips and pimento cheese. Exactly what you would expect. House made kettle chips and solid pimento cheese. Simple and good. We also both ordered Americanos and the coffee was excellent. Very hot, fresh, and full of flavor. I ordered the steak sammie and thought it was pretty solid overall. My only minor complaint is that it was not quite as hot as I would have liked when it came out, but flavor wise it was still enjoyable. The real standout was dessert. I ordered the apple streusel sundae and it was absolutely fantastic. Easily the best thing I had there. Warm, comforting, and perfectly balanced. If you go here, do yourself a favor and order it with a coffee. It is the kind of dessert you remember after you leave. This is a great spot for a lunch meeting or casual business meal, and it is somewhere I would happily return to. Very enjoyable experience all around.

Dinner Hanger Steak

Fast and friendly service! Came here for dinner on a Tuesday night, and was sat pretty quickly. The food menu provides a good variety of options that you might not regularly find at a generic restaurant. I liked all the flavors from the ribs, Brussels sprouts, and the dessert. The steak was underwhelming - mostly since it seemed like a small cut. Might be good to clarify the size of steak on the menu or in-person. It's not enough to feed one person. The star of the show was the sundae. Tasted delicious! Really appreciated the kind staff and the easy parking. Only feedback is consider portion size and temperature on food (steak and ribs were very lukewarm at best).

Great food, great staff, cute spot. Branzino, fried shrimp, pork belly, asparagus pasta: all good enough for me to enter a review!

Walking down into the den with music felt right and almost like an extension of a cozy living room. We went on a Tuesday night and basically had the place to ourselves (there was one person sitting at the bar). Our server was very personable and kind. This is an all South African wine spot - they serve by the glass or the bottle, or sell you bottles to take home. They have snacks as well - which take a nod from South Africa with biltong boards. For those who aren't familiar, biltong is South African air-dried, cured meat - much like jerky in concept, but the preparation makes it a bit more tender and flavorful. The setting for the space feels like you are entering an upscale cave, in the best possible way. This spot is absolutely a niche gem - just a little out of the way for me, but I would certainly return if in the area.
