The Lauer Krauts truck at Prospect Sound Bites in Longmont had the longest line of all the trucks so we had to try it. It's pretty good, solid and filling. Wow. I saw this place on D3 and was only place I'd seen that made "Kraut Burgers" very similar to an old meat pie recipe I have, so we had to stop when opportunity came around. We were absolutely not disappointed. The bread is soft and sweat, the meat is flavored perfectly and the combination is just delightful. Now I am not a potato salad guy, but was made to try the German Potato Salad and it too was delicious. This was my first time going here and it is delicious! I got The Jack and clam chowder soup and my husband got The Jack and the German Sausage Bowl. It was all very good! Tiny little place in Brighton and I noticed they have a large collection of VW bugs inside which is cool. Looks like a little hotdog place if I had to compare to something. The only thing I would say is I couldn't see or taste the cheese in mine but it was in there for sure I wish they used more cheese. read more

I have been to Lauer Krauts (with my Wife) on a couple of occasions and, frankly, I don't get the hype. Sorry, I just don't. We both lived in Germany (Mannheim and Heidelberg) for years and, as I recall, the food in Germany had TASTE. I had the "Kraut Burger" and couldn't taste much but the breading. My Wife had the Dog and again - little taste. The people that work there are the nicest people in the world - VERY friendly and helpful. My 2 star rating has NOTHING to do with the staff or the atmosphere. It simply is the food. Honestly, Runzas are better. entschuldigung Sie Bitte, for the review. How fun when you go to a new town and find a place like this. My wife makes a very similar 'German Bun' recipe - but Guy Fieri and Food Network have never been to our house like they have Lauer Krauts! People were friendly, food was great. Kraut burgers are great! We tried the ones with American cheese and pepper jack and both tasty! German potato salad was the special and it was delish, not too vinegary as my dad was worried about before tasting it. We've also tried the wrapped hot dogs and sausages and those are good as well. My husband also approves of their cookies. Service is awesome, so friendly they really make you feel welcome. Looking forward to trying the soups and different desserts in the future. read more

I have a tiny lil lame appetite and when I only ate part of my burger, the employee assumed I didn't like it and brought out a brat for free! So sweet, I enjoyed my leftovers and my bf enjoyed the free brat for another meal. It was super yummy, so if you like kraut and or burgers - check it out. This place is awesome! Flew in from Phoenix and this was the first stop we had to make. We always try to hit a few Diners Drive-ins and Dives places anytime we travel and this was the 1st one on our list for the Denver area. I don't think there is anything a person wouldn't like here. Small menu but they do it right on everything they offer. Even the little things you wouldn't really think of, like their honey mustard and the spicy season salt. Amazing! Had to buy some of the season salt to take home. The owners mom was sitting at the table next to us and was so nice. She called her daughter out of the kitchen to say hi to us before we left. It was great meeting everyone there. We will be back next time we are in Denver. read more

Went here on Wednesday, was recommended by a friend. The kraut burgers were ok - I guess I'm not used to of having actual sour kraut in the kraut burgers vs just the sauteed cabbage. We also had gotten a bowl of the chicken noodle soup. When I look in the bowl the first thing that came to mind was the Lipton noodles & thought I wasted $2.50 but honestly to soup was very tasty and big pieces of chicken. Lastly we had the bread pudding - a little rubbery consistency but good flavor also. If I'm in town I may stop there again but not a place I'd make an effort to go to. read more

I grew up eating bierocks, and these are close. They are quite peppery, and I love pepper. They are not as good as what I grew up with, but they do the trick considering how much work it is to make them from scratch. I do enjoy the homemade honey mustard. Every soup I've had has been delicious, and their baked goods are generally quite tasty. My husband is a huge fan of their sausage in a roll. I should have written a review of this place the first time that I went. I ordered more or less a pig in a blanket featuring a boiled bratwurst and two kraut burgers. I ate half of the brat, and half of one kraut burger. I threw the rest away. If you enjoy the blandest of foods, this might be for you. Imagine a pita sized piece of fresh bread, with boiled cabbage, onions, and a teaspoon of ground beef. It's presented to you as more or less a homemade hot pocket of waste. I went back over a year later for the "breakfast in bread." I ordered two, made with German sausage, eggs, and potato(you don't get to choose). I also ordered a cup of chili. This was $17. The breakfast in bread was nearly identical to the kraut burger. No flavor, no taste, and the ingredients are indiscernible from one another. Ate half of one, threw the rest in the trash. The "chili" was decent, I guess, but was more of a bean soup. read more

I was turned on to this place because of triple D on the Food Network. I have made kraut burgers myself, they are a chore as well as grew up eating them and also married the son of a German imagrant. Anyways, these are not really the best nor nearly the best burgers. I guess if you have never really had a kraut burger, they are good. But far from being exceptional. We hit the place late during lunch rush this past Saturday, they had ran out of some things, which is to be expected though I was bummed they were almost out of the German Chocolate Brownies, something I really wanted to try and we got the last one. They were good. My husband got the German Sausage bowl, barely any sausage a lot of kraut and mashed potatoes. I think you really do get what you pay for as their prices were reasonable but I will not return to this joint. read more
