This spot may be held near and dear by some folks who get nostalgic from the memories of eating here as a kid (50s diner vibe) but as someone who didn't grow up in Colorado, i can give you an honest review. Firstly, this place is swarming with a certain political party. It's almost as if they have a facebook group where they post meetups here to eat burgers together. I won't get political in a food review but it's definitely off putting to say the least. Second, while cheap ($10) for a meal -- it's also just not good. Unfortunately i hadn't met a burger i didn't enjoy in my 30 odd years of eating them but this one takes the cake. The burger its self is a smash styled patty but it's so thin i could cut myself on the edges. The bun it's served on is also very large and completely drowns out any flavor other than the bread itself. The toppings on the sandwich leave a lot to be desired as well. My burger had 3 small tomato slices on it (2 of them were ends where the vine sits) and 2 onion rings so thick you'd probably be better off frying them. All in all, growing up in the northeast i'm no stranger to diners but this one is just not good. It's sad to write this follow-up review for Jim's which has been one of my favorites for decades. The current saga started when Aspen Bakery went under. We hung it there 6 inchers on 4 inch buns, some other buns, then todaya buns. A six inch bun better described as flavorless firm if not stale, brown paper bag is the favor if we pin it down. Yes a far cry from the soft yet never soggy, smooth and fresh Aspen Bakery buns. The meat seems never frozen flavorfull and fresh. The fries were cooked to perfection and yes the burger was piping hot. All things considered unless I can bring my homemade buns, the only ones better than Aspen buns this was our last visit to Jim's in Thornton. There is the flawed idea that the Westminster location has decent buns, so I guess it's goodbye Jim's. Thank you for the good bun years. read more

I love their food; the reason for the one star review is due to the fact that I had to stand at the order window for minutes or more waiting for someone to even acknowledge the fact that I was standing there. Burgers are great BUT BEWARE if you order online it says to check the everything box, I did check the everything box but nothing came on the burgers... There was a guy in from of me that had the same issue with his burger having nothing even though he checked the everything box. I guess you have to leave all of the auto check boxes checked AND check the everything box. We stopped here on our way from thrifting on Washington. This was a convenient location and we chose to dine in. My daughter had a grilled ham and cheese, fries and a lemonade. I went with a double patty 4" burger w cheese and added bacon and jalapeños + fries and drink. We came in around 1:30 and we were able to order right away. Staff was friendly and we paid about $20 for our meals. I really enjoyed my burger; the bun was really fresh and soft and I liked the old school smash burger. It was served hot and hit the spot. Zero stars if I could. This happened at Jim's Burger Haven (Washington & 88th) around 7:45 PM. I walked in with my husband and kids and was immediately told that everything had to be to-go, even though there were still people sitting in the lobby eating. We were rushed the entire time. After we were pushed out, I realized I wasn't given a fork. When I tried to go back inside to grab one, the staff locked the door and told me to walk around the building to the drive-through window to get it. They were standing inside watching me through the window while this happened. It was humiliating, unnecessary, and completely unprofessional. The way we were rushed out and treated ruined our night. If you don't want customers inside, close the lobby properly and be honest about it. I will never come back to this location. read more

After having lived in Thornton the majority of my life, I had never been here before. I'm a little sad that I had never stopped in! Food came out quick and was fresh. It tastes good and I can really imagine how McDonald's and other burger places would have tasted back in the day. Things here are fresh and tasty. Service is good too, it's younger teens working in there, or people just out of high school, but very friendly and courteous! It looks like a place right out of the 40s and 50s and it plays the music to match! I wish it was a bit quieter because I couldn't hear the people I was eating lunch with, but still a great place. For starters, I fell out of my truck when my foot hit the ice in the parking lot and my teenager had to help me up because I couldn't get up myself. It would have been nice to put some salt or sand or something because the entire parking lot was a sheet of ice. The food was meh. They advertised some kind of spicy cheese curds but didn't have any. Something else that is a pet peeve. If you advertise it, have the capability to produce said item or take the sign down. The hot dogs are 2 hot dogs cut in half and served on a burger bun. Jim's Burger Haven has that old school feel to them, probably because they've been open for 60 years! They have a simple menu consisting of burgers, fries, shakes, among a few other items. I got the 8-inch burger and that thing was MASSIVE. It was also pretty tasty, just didn't hit the perfect mark like some other old school joints I've been to, but that's not to say this place isn't worth checking out! So I have been eating here since my family came back in '80 since my Dad retired from the Air Force! This location is still the same, a couple have popped up across town but this is the original. Back when I was in high school,across the street from Jim's was a field where during the summers car shows would be held and on the weekends there was always some rods in the parking lot. Now the field is Townhomes. Anyway such is progress? But the burgers and shakes are still the best, sure their are your chains, and expensive places that have shoestring fries and today's potatoes are from, who cares? Where else are you going to get a 6" round burger? And where else are you going or can fried hotdogs on a hamburger bun? Yes I said fried hotdogs! Onion rings are onion rings not an onion blossom or pedal or whatever kind of onion surprise you may get. You can also get a authentic coke and the real deal holyfield shakes or malts. The only problem with those is trying to not drink the whole thing before you eat your burger. And for the ladies they have 4" burgers for you but if your not there for the 6" why be there at all? JK. They are just as tasty. There are other appetizers and sides and they offer combo meals but in my opinion the burgers are the main attraction. The inside is eye candy if you are a car enthusiast, and even if not you would have an appreciation for the vintage cars that contained real V8's under the hood that are wrapped with steel fenders and quarter panels and seats big enough so your best girl could sit next to you and wrap your arm around her while your cruising the strip on a Friday and Saturday night. Sorry , got lost in the moment/memory that the ambience and past of my youth this place brings me back to. Alot of time when I'm here I look across the street at the townhomes and sometimes they dissappear and the field is back with the flagged color ribbon lining the street and the cars are there too. They were average burgers. It was good just not as good as some other chains that are around which is a bummer because I would rather support local than a chain. The shakes could use a little more flavor. I wished the cherry shake had bits of cherry in it like some ice creams. The onion ring basket and fries were lack luster and barely filled the paper "basket". The dynobites though were an unexpected surprise. I am used to solid fried cheese curds versus gooey cheese.
