I absolutely love their Delphia Slam (and their regular Philly Cheese Steak sandwich is great, too). You can order it with mild, hot or mixed peppers and I always go for the mixed. Their other sub sandwiches are also good but I consider the Delphia Slam to be the pinnacle of sub sandwiches (and I'm a meatball sub fanatic). I skip the pickles because I find them distracting and they are always happy to customize like that. This isn't like some big chain sandwich shops. You order at the counter but they bring the food to your table. The tables are only so-so but this is a small, low-cost shop and a lot of their business is take-out. I used to eat there often but since I moved north of Lyons, I I am only able to eat there when I have other errands in the same area because its well over an hour's drive from home. Hadn't been here since around the time I moved to Colorado back in the late 2000s. I remember it being kind of flavorless back then but I had been in a cheesesteak mood lately so I found myself returning. First off, the place is kind of odd. It looks like a smaller kind of hole in the wall but for whatever reason the charm isn't there. I'm not sure why but the vibes were off the second I walked in. The service at the counter was taking awhile but I noticed that they had a self service station where you place your order through a computer. I opted for that. It was a good option for when the line was long and gives the option to easily customize. I ordered two pepper cheesesteaks one regular and one large. I added something called Delphia sauce to mine (the large). I also ordered one kid's cheesesteak. I added a large fry to order because...why not? After ordering I realized that I didn't know what came on the kid's cheesesteak and if it came with onions. Couldn't find mention of what came on it so I asked the counter folks. They said "you didn't order a kid's cheesesteak"... What? I checked my receipt and I did. I showed them the receipt and they said, "oh okay I guess we never got your order. We can throw onions on the kid cheesesteak for you" Alright, sounds good. I waited a good long while after that maybe 15 minutes or more. They were somewhat busy so I guess it made sense. I get my food and I check the bag quickly (I'm a dad so...I check all my orders now). I see two wrapped sandwiches, a bag of fries, and small box which I assumed was my large fry. Right away I notice that compared to other places I get cheesesteaks, these puppies looked small. I assumed I had gotten the regular and kids. I walked up to the counter and said I was missing a sandwich. They came over and looked in the bag and said "no, you have the large and regular and the kids in the box". Okay...that is one small cheesesteak to fit in a box that size. I opened the box while I was there and the kids cheesesteak was served on WHITE SLICED SANDWICH BREAD. This was not mentioned anywhere on the menu. Also, it looked to be about an ice cream scoop worth of meat in the middle of the bread. Hey, the onions are there though. Listen, I know I may be preaching to the choir on Yelp here but...food it's important to my family and I. My daughter is 8 and well within the ages to benefit from a kid's menu but she is not dumb. She knows what a cheesesteak should be. In fact, she wanted cheesesteaks this night. Just because she is a kid doesn't mean she wants that. She wants a normal cheesesteak on a hoagie roll. Why do white bread? Anyway, I didn't complain to the employees or demand a swap out. Well, I'm not saying these cheesesteaks were bad, but I've had better meat in a vegan sandwich. The location is in a pretty difficult spot to get to, with seemingly only one way in from the north or south. The good news is, the cheesesteak-to-bread ratio was spot on. But aside from that one lonely onion, it was like the chef forgot to put anything else in it. I mean, I've had more flavor in a rice cake. This place has the potential to be a consistent 4 star but their consistency makes them a true 3.5 star. The food was GREAT today but the previous two times I have been, it has been just okay mainly because of their portion size. Today I ordered the Pepper Steak with Mushrooms & White American cheese. It was absolutely fantastic and the amount of meat to bread was much better than previous times. I would say their steaks are as good as Denver Teds and would put up some competition with a few (less known) joints in Philly. The bread was great! The meat was well seasoned! The juices soaked into the bread just right and didn't have too much drip. If you need a Philly North of Denver, this is the place to come, especially if they have a good day. read more

This might be considered petty but I got a story to tell. Took the wife out for lunch today. Made my order and sat down. They were busy but my food showed up promptly. (Dang it) my order is wrong. Walk it back up (can you fix this?) sure we'll knock this out quickly. It was quick people but wrong again. Walk it up one more time. (Hey, I said no onion- you did sir it's even on you receipt) our bad. We'll fix it. Prompt again and again they forgot my mushrooms. The wife says, take it back up there. Noticing how busy they were I just ate the damn thing. I mean I have to get her back to work and they were busy I'll give them that. Finally we were done with our meal just cleaning up my son so we can be on our way (no harm no foul right) but the manager walks up and ask if they messed it up again. I replied yes hoping she would do something to rectify or correct the issue. Naw. Just shook her head. I'm completely serious about this but in my head at that moment I'm thinking old Philly town stole 70 cents from me. I will not be back. I do not recommend. I should be fair here. There are better cheesesteaks out there. South philly is leaps and bounds better but this place is close to my wife's work. If I could give a zero star I would. My wife and I have driven past this place a million times but tonight we decided to stop in. We got two "cheesesteak" sandwiches and an order of onion rings to go. The lady at the register was very sweet, this is a family run business which I love! Second: our to-go order took about ten minutes... for steak that's pretty good! We drove about 15 minutes home... got home and the onion rings were still PIPING hot and crispy. Good work on those! Cheesesteaks were good sized and also PIPING hot! The bread was crispy but soft on the inside. The bread did not get soggy and held the meat well. The meat and peppers tasted really good... spicy and yummy... chopped into very fine bits which were a little smaller than what I expected, but my wife says that's how they do it in Philly so I guess she is right...(dude your wife is always right). Anyway I'm giving this place 5 stars for kindness at the counter, freshly chopped and delicious meats and peppers and for nicely crisp onion rings. YUMMMM! read more

They are filled to the brim with juicy, warm, melt in your mouth meat and cheese. The toasted bread is soft and flavorful, and the mushrooms and peppers really bring a new dimension to the taste of the meat. They fry all of their fries fresh, right after you order, and they taste fantastic. I like to eat mine with a cup of their Delphia sauce. The people who work here are friendly, quick, and accommodating. I have a lot of food sensitivities and customize my order quite a bit and they have never once made my order incorrectly. My go-to order is the Cheesesteak and my boyfriend swears by The Slam- and we both share a side of fries (the portions are generous). Bread was delicious and just enough, meat was plentiful except I had a piece that was red (not cooked) ...luckily it was towards the end when I was almost done eating so I only had inch left to eat that I threw away. We ordered the Slam sandwich, with mixed peppers. My husband got onion rings and I got fries. Here's where the OTHER places go wrong. The bread is soggy and mushy because of whatever juice they keep the meat warm in. Old Philly Town cooks the meat fresh. Our roll was sturdy and chewy and kept the meet in. The peppers were spicy but not too spicy. The white American was an amazing balance. Not too salty, not too melty. The fries were cooked perfect and the onion rings were crispy and perfectly done. It's been 5 years at least since we've ordered philly cheese steaks because our last time was THAT bad, thank you for welcoming us back in with yummy open arms. read more

I do love a Jim's, Pat's, or even a Gino's but I grew up loving the kind of kind of steak made by a Greek guy usually in a pizza shop or a street cart with a grill. This place is like those.
