I drove maybe 10 minutes out of my way from my house to have a burger not made by the corporate monsters. The burger and the shake were great. I'm guessing I caught someone at the end of their shift, she came out fro kitchen and was on phone. I let her know they were out of ketchup not realizing she was on phone. She told person on phone she had to go, looked at me, moved the dispenser towards her and I think she said it was full. I stood there to watch and yes it was full, but so nasty around the top she had to spray water on it and wipe it off. 1st off gross, second sorry. Not sure if I will be back or not. As a major foodie and cook at home, I don't often do "fast food". We passed by this place and I love to support local so we checked it out. They have been serving up thin smash burgers since 1961! What sets them apart, are the two sizes of burgers available and the customization you can do. 6 inch or 4 inch, and your choice of 1-3 patties. Choice of three different types of cheese. The classic comes with mustard, pickle, shredded lettuce, tomato, and onion. But, you can also opt for a variety of toppings from bacon or ham to red or green chili. Their beef is antibiotic free and 100% Colorado raised. They also have their buns specially made for them by a local bakery that doesn't use eggs or dairy. They were delicious. All of my toppings were fresh. We ordered the Jimmies for our side, which was fries and onion rings. I thought the portion was a little skimpy considering we ordered the large, but such is the times. I ordered the chips as my side and was pleasantly surprised with the thin sliced potatoes that I got. I used to get these at one of my favorite spots at home (and loved them), but hadn't had them in years since they closed. Yay!! I love the whole vibe of the place too. It was clean and definitely a 50s diner feel. I loved singing along to the oldies while I waited for my food. There is plenty of parking here and they have a drive thru. One of the best burgers by far I've tried. Taste and quality resembles Grandpas Burger Haven in my opinion, and the small triple cheese is a couple dollars cheaper than Grandpas small triple. Fresh ingredients and all. Service was even A1 as well. read more

Food is still good all these years. It's been 20 years since I came back due to it being on the other end of town. Onion rings, malt and the double 6" burgers brought back a lot of memories. I'm so glad I came back for the food. The service lost a lot of the small businesses appeal. The quality of the cashier or the terminology has gone down hill and made my ordering experience with tons of mistake. I will never come back!!! Today I came through drive-through for an onion ring and a grilled cheese sandwich order, waited 20 minutes to get through the line. No big deal because I thought it would be worth it! However!! They gave me french fries with my order not the onion rings. When I came back as the manager asked me to to get the order replaced this afternoon, that's what I have to pay for the order even though I told them the order number as the manager asked me to tell them. Yummmmm!!! I love this little truly old fashioned burger joint! They have old fashioned burgers and hot dogs (old school original American food). The restaurant is very clean and they are keeping up with social distancing and cleaning. They also play 50's music to go along with the theme. I also had the fried pickles! 3 to 3.5 STARs at its BEST. Jim's Burger Haven, Thornton location. Since the nearest Philly Steak Cheese Establishment either moved or went under, to this Burger Joint we went. Another "Dining Spree" for our Wedding Anniversary September 25th 2011, we were here for a late lunch, early dinner. We were also running some errands at this part of neighborhood. Time was between 16:35hrs to 17:15hrs. When we arrived at the parking spot, this place seems quiet, empty, and I thought the establishment is closed etc etc. We went inside, all the way to the left wing of this establishment where you make your order. Hurbs order like 3 LARGE patties of hamburger meats, aka Large 6" Burgers while I opt just for a single pattie of Small 4" Burger coz I was not really craving for a Hamburger. We opt our hamburgers to be well done. We also ordered the onions rings and the buffalo chips which was highly recommended by the lady who took our order at the counter. We also order 2 beverages, one Large for Hubs and one small for me. Both of us, like our order. We like it when the Burgers we order were done right, and came out piping hot. Inside this establishment, while waiting for our order to be ready, another couple was dining away. YES, this establishment, reflects the 50s era, of America, old diner, with lots of memorabilia thru the walls and pictures hanging of cars etc etc. At the right side of this establishment, there is a huge TV mounted, and at that time, they are showing one of the American Football games or something. One of staffs of this establishment called our names once our order was ready. You received it at the center of this establishment. All in all an OK dining experience dining in here. The place and the bathroom was kept clean. Nothing stellar nothing fancy. I think, they have more orders from their Drive-Thru coz lots of cars, kept driving in and out while we were there and also when we left this establishment. read more

Got a 6" double burger with everything but cheese and a side of onion rings. The sandwich is definitely big, but unfortunately not the taste. White Castles tasted better than these. On a positive note though, I really enjoyed the onion rings. The only other place to match these onion rings are Culver's. Sad experience today , ordered some chili cheese fries and found the cheese wasn't even melted . They tasted awful with the cold cheese so I asked the cashier if I could get the cheese melted on my order and said she couldn't do anything about it . Two sizes of burgers; 4 or 6 inch, all can be single, double or triple meat, with or without cheese. Standard soda fountain plus shakes. Fries, rings, and dyna bites. They have specialty sandwiches like an Italian sausage or a pork loin. A few hot dogs can be found on the retro menu as well. I had the double with cheese. The burger was the highlight of the meal, the fries were nothing special at all and a bit on the small size, but I've been known to complain about the opposite, so in this case, maybe it was just the outsized burger that made the fries look so puny. The burger was cooked right and served up hot off the grill. The condiment dressing was appropriate and did not get too sloppy after a few bites - so bonus points there. Best place ever! Second generation customer. My dad used to come here as a kid and then took us here as kids. I created a third generation customer in my boys. This location is better than the Sheridan location for some reason. Large double combo with a strawberry shake. Freaking awesome!! Stopped here last night for dinner. Went through the drive through. Was in and out within 5 mins. I ordered the 6" double combo with bacon. Tip: the burger is beyond massive. Impossible to eat while driving. Had to pull over to eat it. Burger was great with all the toppings. Fries were hot tasty. Went in on 11/192022 after waiting 1 hour for our burgers the buns were cold. Then I checked my account the cashier double charged me. I call Ray manager says he will fix. I wait a week nothing. Ray sends text he will take care of our meal $19.04 and mistake 19.04. Still not done its 11/29. I call talk to manager Susan she is mean says she will take care of it and hangs up on me. I am giving the full 5 benefit-of-the-doubt rating simply because the service, the nice diner scene, and the burgers are very filling and I'm actually getting hungry as we speak. The Hubby and I picked out the Small 4" Burger sizes that all come with: mustard. lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle. It was truly basic in the description, but the taste says so otherwise. I just went to Jim's Burger Haven today they bring back memories I love that place pretty good

Definitely not as good as I remember it being! Maybe if they hired a bit more mature staff the service would have gone a lot quicker and my fries and burger would not have been cold after just purchasing them! I came through the drive through while my boyfriend was admitted to North Suburban for a leg injury that resulted in emergency surgery, so once we were settled I just wanted something to eat that was easy and yummy and came down the hill to Jim's! Super disappointed that everything was pretty dry, cold and lackluster because I was looking for some comfort food to soothe me during a tough time! If u order a triple they will give one patty and 2 half patties. I ordered dynobites and only received 5 which seemed far less then usual. I've been coming here for years and never had a problem with the food. The owner is very rude and doesn't know how to speak to people or treat employees. Shelly is also very rude. Very disappointed in my burger i would've just ordered a double if i knew this is how triples are being served now. I hope the other location is not like this one. I will not be returning or recommending jims to other people. read more
