So I have been eating here since my family came back in '80 since my Dad retired from the Air Force! This location is still the same, a couple have popped up across town but this is the original. Back when I was in high school, across the street from Jim's was a field where during the summers car shows would be held and on the weekends there was always some rods in the parking lot. Now the field is Townhomes. Anyway such is progress? But the burgers and shakes are still the best, sure their are your chains, and expensive places that have shoestring fries and today's potatoes are from, who cares? Where else are you going to get a 6" round burger? And where else are you going or can fried hotdogs on a hamburger bun? Yes I said fried hotdogs! Onion rings are onion rings not an onion blossom or pedal or whatever kind of onion surprise you may get. You can also get a authentic coke and the real deal holyfield shakes or malts. The only problem with those is trying to not drink the whole thing before you eat your burger. And for the ladies they have 4" burgers for you but if your not there for the 6" why be there at all? JK. They are just as tasty. There are other appetizers and sides and they offer combo meals but in my opinion the burgers are the main attraction. The inside is eye candy if you are a car enthusiast, and even if not you would have an appreciation for the vintage cars that contained real V8's under the hood that are wrapped with steel fenders and quarter panels and seats big enough so your best girl could sit next to you and wrap your arm around her while your cruising the strip on a Friday and Saturday night. Sorry , got lost in the moment/memory that the ambience and past of my youth this place brings me back to. Alot of time when I'm here I look across the street at the townhomes and sometimes they dissappear and the field is back with the flagged color ribbon lining the street and the cars are there too. But anyway if you want something different than your typical fast food burger give this place a try and bring your appetite. Recommend for sure. read more

They were average burgers. It was good just not as good as some other chains that are around which is a bummer because I would rather support local than a chain. The shakes could use a little more flavor. I wished the cherry shake had bits of cherry in it like some ice creams. The onion ring basket and fries were lack luster and barely filled the paper "basket". The dynobites though were an unexpected surprise. I am used to solid fried cheese curds versus gooey cheese. It reminded me of a jalapeño popper with bits of green Chile versus jalapeño. The good part is they have a drive thru, so you don't have to go in during these times. read more

Great food better then the one on Sheridan I don't know why but it is lol.. Hope you stay going strong

Not as good as I remembered burger was super dry and no flavor to it. And they have gotten real skimpy with the French fries and the combo you get about a dozen French fries and 2 onion rings boy you got to be making a killing with what you charge and what you actually serve to the customers. read more

Usually love going here because their burgers are amazing but this time was sadly disappointed when I opened up the bag to get my burger it was smashed like ridiculously smashed read more

I had a single 6 and this burger was as big as my face!!! I totally underestimated what I was getting this thing is HUGE!! You get a lot of really great food for the money!! Don't even get me started on the onion rings or the spicy cheese curds! I live 30 minutes away and would drive here just for the onion rings or cheese curds alone! read more

I drove maybe 10 minutes out of my way from my house to have a burger not made by the corporate monsters. The burger and the shake were great. I'm guessing I caught someone at the end of their shift, she came out fro kitchen and was on phone. I let her know they were out of ketchup not realizing she was on phone. She told person on phone she had to go, looked at me, moved the dispenser towards her and I think she said it was full. I stood there to watch and yes it was full, but so nasty around the top she had to spray water on it and wipe it off. 1st off gross, second sorry. Not sure if I will be back or not. I really liked this place. Customer service goes a long ways! read more

Front counter girl dropped a stack of cups and placed them right back with the rest of the other cups Not coming back ever

As a major foodie and cook at home, I don't often do "fast food". We passed by this place and I love to support local so we checked it out. They have been serving up thin smash burgers since 1961! What sets them apart, are the two sizes of burgers available and the customization you can do. 6 inch or 4 inch, and your choice of 1-3 patties. Choice of three different types of cheese. The classic comes with mustard, pickle, shredded lettuce, tomato, and onion. But, you can also opt for a variety of toppings from bacon or ham to red or green chili. Their beef is antibiotic free and 100% Colorado raised. They also have their buns specially made for them by a local bakery that doesn't use eggs or dairy. They were delicious. All of my toppings were fresh. We ordered the Jimmies for our side, which was fries and onion rings. I thought the portion was a little skimpy considering we ordered the large, but such is the times. I ordered the chips as my side and was pleasantly surprised with the thin sliced potatoes that I got. I used to get these at one of my favorite spots at home (and loved them), but hadn't had them in years since they closed. Yay!! I love the whole vibe of the place too. It was clean and definitely a 50s diner feel. I loved singing along to the oldies while I waited for my food. There is plenty of parking here and they have a drive thru. We will be back to try some other things as it's a great value and the food is solid. Love to support local! read more

One of the best burgers by far I've tried. Taste and quality resembles Grandpas Burger Haven in my opinion, and the small triple cheese is a couple dollars cheaper than Grandpas small triple. Fresh ingredients and all. Service was even A1 as well. read more

Jim's Burger Haven - Small triple cheeseburger no pickles add mayo - Burgers Near Me - Thornton, Colorado

Staff wasn't engaging and felt like they were bothered when we ordered. The food was okay, didn't like that the burgers came out smashed, but it was good enough. However, very stingy on fries. The place itself is cute because of the old diner vibes. Probably won't come back. read more

Food is still good all these years. It's been 20 years since I came back due to it being on the other end of town. Onion rings, malt and the double 6" burgers brought back a lot of memories. I'm so glad I came back for the food. The service lost a lot of the small businesses appeal. The quality of the cashier or the terminology has gone down hill and made my ordering experience with tons of mistake. All the old pictures of cars were there and the same furniture is still there from when I was there with by kids. Brought back great happy memories for me in my 20-30. read more

Food and service were great. A lil old school skating rink environment . This is a place to be at witb family and kiddos as they have a great kids menu it's cheap and affordable. For the whole family it was like $35 for 4 of us read more

3 to 3.5 STARs at its BEST. Jim's Burger Haven, Thornton location. Since the nearest Philly Steak Cheese Establishment either moved or went under, to this Burger Joint we went. Another "Dining Spree" for our Wedding Anniversary September 25th 2011, we were here for a late lunch, early dinner. We were also running some errands at this part of neighborhood. Time was between 16:35hrs to 17:15hrs. When we arrived at the parking spot, this place seems quiet, empty, and I thought the establishment is closed etc etc. We went inside, all the way to the left wing of this establishment where you make your order. Hurbs order like 3 LARGE patties of hamburger meats, aka Large 6" Burgers while I opt just for a single pattie of Small 4" Burger coz I was not really craving for a Hamburger. We opt our hamburgers to be well done. We also ordered the onions rings and the buffalo chips which was highly recommended by the lady who took our order at the counter. We also order 2 beverages, one Large for Hubs and one small for me. Both of us, like our order. We like it when the Burgers we order were done right, and came out piping hot. Inside this establishment, while waiting for our order to be ready, another couple was dining away. YES, this establishment, reflects the 50s era, of America, old diner, with lots of memorabilia thru the walls and pictures hanging of cars etc etc. At the right side of this establishment, there is a huge TV mounted, and at that time, they are showing one of the American Football games or something. One of staffs of this establishment called our names once our order was ready. You received it at the center of this establishment. All in all an OK dining experience dining in here. The place and the bathroom was kept clean. Nothing stellar nothing fancy. I think, they have more orders from their Drive-Thru coz lots of cars, kept driving in and out while we were there and also when we left this establishment. read more

I will never come back!!! Today I came through drive-through for an onion ring and a grilled cheese sandwich order, waited 20 minutes to get through the line. No big deal because I thought it would be worth it! However!! They gave me french fries with my order not the onion rings. When I came back as the manager asked me to to get the order replaced this afternoon, that's what I have to pay for the order even though I told them the order number as the manager asked me to tell them. So here again I'm stuck in this line with no meal from Jim's Burger Haven not a good customer service at all. Definitely customers don't matter for this restaurant read more

I'm thinking this place is a front for some sort of money laundering operation because the food is consistently inconsistent, the staff is retarded and even though I pay for a side of ranch , it's never ever in the bag. Like ever. Im just sick of being flexed everywhere I go because no one gives a crap about anything. It only took me 3 years to decide I dont want to do commerce with this business. Shame on me I guess. (This review is regarding the Arvada location but I'm sure the other location sucks too) read more

Yummmmm!!! I love this little truly old fashioned burger joint! They have old fashioned burgers and hot dogs (old school original American food). The restaurant is very clean and they are keeping up with social distancing and cleaning. They also play 50's music to go along with the theme. I also had the fried pickles! Totally delicious and will be back! read more

If it were HOT & had seasoning. Bland cityspoken here. $36.00.... the wait was about 10 minutes. The tenders were over fried. So sad

The food was tasty the fries were a amazing I love the burger and onion rings I'm really happy the best American food

I love this place. The burgers are great, but it takes a double to even cross the threshold of being a burger. Why? Because the burgers are giant and it takes more meat to start. Also, I like the fry's as well as any place I've been. read more

Got a 6" double burger with everything but cheese and a side of onion rings. The sandwich is definitely big, but unfortunately not the taste. White Castles tasted better than these. On a positive note though, I really enjoyed the onion rings. The only other place to match these onion rings are Culver's. I will come back for the onion rings and try the malts to see if they are good. We went through the drive thru and the staff was very nice. I love that this place has a good size parking lot too... should my next visit be in the dining room. read more

The only thing worth ordering from here are the milkshakes. The fries and beef patty were pretty bland, and it costed a dollar for each additional burger toppings. What a disappointing meal, it looks better than it tastes. :( read more

Jim's Burger Haven - I've lived in colorado for the last two years now and this is by far the best burger joint I've been to! Try their shakes!!!! - Burgers Near Me - Thornton, Colorado

The motto is "a square meal on a round bun." Classic cars, 50's pop music, burgers and fries. Much like stepping into a time warp straight to 1955, Jim's Burger Haven is old school. Two sizes of burgers; 4 or 6 inch, all can be single, double or triple meat, with or without cheese. Standard soda fountain plus shakes. Fries, rings, and dyna bites. They have specialty sandwiches like an Italian sausage or a pork loin. A few hot dogs can be found on the retro menu as well. I had the double with cheese. The burger was the highlight of the meal, the fries were nothing special at all and a bit on the small size, but I've been known to complain about the opposite, so in this case, maybe it was just the outsized burger that made the fries look so puny. The burger was cooked right and served up hot off the grill. The condiment dressing was appropriate and did not get too sloppy after a few bites - so bonus points there. Jim's if worth a shot if you must have a huge burger in the car-hop tradition. read more

Best place ever! Second generation customer. My dad used to come here as a kid and then took us here as kids. I created a third generation customer in my boys. Greasy and flavorless. The smell of grease hangs in the air seeping into every dirty nook it can find. Burgers worse than McDonalds.

I wish I could give this old favorite place more stars, but I can't. Two reasons: 1) the burgers aren't crispy and flat, like they have always been. 2) service was poor. I encountered the worker twice and she acted annoyed by me. I will still go again, and if things are back to usual, I will update my review. One positive. The place looked organized and clean read more

I am giving the full 5 benefit-of-the-doubt rating simply because the service, the nice diner scene, and the burgers are very filling and I'm actually getting hungry as we speak. The Hubby and I picked out the Small 4" Burger sizes that all come with: mustard. lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle. It was truly basic in the description, but the taste says so otherwise. Super classic, but very juicy and the meat was well cooked. This is obviously an old-school burger palace and that is always nice. read more

I just went to Jim's Burger Haven today they bring back memories I love that place pretty good

Definitely not as good as I remember it being! Maybe if they hired a bit more mature staff the service would have gone a lot quicker and my fries and burger would not have been cold after just purchasing them! I came through the drive through while my boyfriend was admitted to North Suburban for a leg injury that resulted in emergency surgery, so once we were settled I just wanted something to eat that was easy and yummy and came down the hill to Jim's! Super disappointed that everything was pretty dry, cold and lackluster because I was looking for some comfort food to soothe me during a tough time! I should have just gotten a milk shake instead, pretty hard to mess those up I think! read more

Tasty treats from the past! Such a fun place. Can be a bit slow but I feel like it was worth it.
