I live in the gentrified portion of Newark, right next to Harrison. There are families walking their dogs every other days and events in the park. I live right next to Rutgers and NJIT, and am covered by their campus police forces. I don't buy him feeling unsafe, since Elizabeth has the potential to be as rough as some parts of Newark (which again, I don't live in). Regardless, if he felt unsafe, he could have told us earlier instead of wasting our time and now we have to find another HVAC in the middle of a heat wave. Do not use this service, they are unprofessional.

I specified the model number, BTUs, and the fact that it was an upper window installation. I had the person on the phone double check to make sure they do actually repair large units installed in upper windows. The person on the phone assured me they do. I was told I could have an appointment 8-11am today with Jorge, and got a text confirming that. I texted back requesting that Jorge call me in advance if he thinks my window AC unlikely to be repairable. I got no response so I assumed the text chain was unmonitored. I rearranged my day, got up before 8am, and waited. At 11:15am, no one had come, so I called. The person on the phone was very apologetic and said someone would call me back immediately to let me know when the tech would arrive. I rearranged appointments for the afternoon. No call. I rearranged more of my appointments for the afternoon. I called again at 1:30pm: same apology and promise. No call. I rearranged more of my appointments for the afternoon. I called again at 3pm: same apology, same promise. In desperation, I told them I was about to write a bad Yelp review. That's clearly the ONLY thing that made them bother to respond to me because, finally, at 3:15pm, Brenda texted me on the same text chain (so the text WAS monitored after all): "I am sorry for window AC we usually replace them do not perform repair." What??? They had confirmed that they DO perform such repairs. And even if the phone person had been mistaken, they KNEW they had made an appointment with me 8-11am. But no one had bothered to contact me to tell me anything! They knew I was calling again and again begging for a response. No one WOULD have contacted me had I not finally told them I was about to write a review. They are obviously totally unprofessional and don't care how much disruption and waste of time they cause their clients.

Bottom line: they're the best. Derrick showed up on time and fully equipped to get to work, and he had my three central AC units (poorly installed by someone else) up and running in record time, at a fair price, despite it being the first hot spell of the summer season. Derrick walked me through the process, gave me repair/replace options and an estimated cost, and then got right to it. Polite, professional and thorough, it was a real (and rare) pleasure to deal with someone who knows his trade inside and out and takes pride in a job well done. I hired them to install my hvac system for my restaurant. From the beginning I got horrible…read moreservice,not responding the calls or messages nor having answer for my questions on time. However I decided to use them they gave me reasonable quote and told me it will take about 2 weeks to get permits etc. They wanted to have the complete job with materials and labor, I didn't want to have materials from them bc was expensive and need to pay 50% down. I decided to order materials from ecomfort with lower price and installment agreement, it was easy to pay for me. Michael (owner) came to my business checked everything, measured etc.and told me what he needs as material. I asked him to confirm what exactly I need to order,3 indoor units 1 outdoor condenser 1 heater pan, 1 condenser pump,3×50ft total 150ft line sets and clear hose. I checked with him the capacity of the units and the rest of the equipment I need to order. He checked the list and told me order everything in the list i sent him by text message. After him and his staff finished the installation I saw the condenser pump in the box unused! I asked him that you want me to order this pump but you didn't use it! He goes ah I thought we will need it but not any more, I got angry and said ok take it back then you use it and I'll deduct from your balance. He took it with him and left. Later I was checking the materials and I saw he didn't use at least 60% of the line sets he made me order it! I put everything into box and put in basement. When he came to ask me to pay the balance I told him you told me to order 150ft of line sets and you didn't use easy 100ft of it!!! I paid nearly $700 for 150ft of line sets. I told him I will deduct $500 from his balance with returned condenser pump (paid $120) then I can give his check. He said no it's not my responsibility you bought the materials I just installed it. If you want you can sell it on ebay he told me. I said I have whole text messages saved in my phone that you told me to order all this materials I didn't order myself! As a contractor you came to my business you inspected you measured it and you told me exactly what I have to order then I ordered whatever you told me. He ignored and said no I won't take it back and left my restaurant! A week later he emailed me that saying he won't take the material back that's not his problem or responsibility, he needs his money by end of the week otherwise he said I will place lien on building and go to court. Plus he prepared wrong paperwork for permit, after a month building department respond that they need to fill out correct paperwork, imagine I lost just 1 month bc of their mistake to fill out wrong paper work. Another issue happened at last when I have my building inspection which was inspector came for inspection and found out they completed the job but didn't get the permit yet so they finished the job without permit! I was suffering to open my business asap I lost a week because of their irresponsible work ethic. Finally they got all paper work done and I passed the inspection. As I mentioned I had a lot of issues with this company called MFB MECHANICAL and absolutely advise people stay away from them if you don't want trouble!

When I called to make the appointment yesterday, the lady who answered the phone told me that they could show up today. What really surprised me was that the first hour cost $350, and a subsequent hours cost only $300 an hour. When the two guys showed up at 9:30 AM, I told them that I was interested in a check of the coolant levels in both of our yards. I followed the guys downstairs to open up one of our two units, and it took both of them just over 20 minutes to open up a side panel while using a 7 inch straight drill bit. Based on that pretty unimpressive performance, I told them not to check the coils on the second unit, but rather told them that again I wanted the coolant levels checked. One of the guys told me that he refused to put the coolant in, that was required, because he did not physically inspect the coils of the second unit. He lobbied for the two of them to open the second unit. I asked them to leave. If you're gonna charge $350 an hour, you need to be pretty amazing at what you do. I paid $390 for 2 guys to clean one set of coils and put in a filter that I provided; no 'Freon.' They were anything but helpful and I won't use Iceberg again.

I woke up early and planned to be available all morning, just to find out the installer I had scheduled made a mistake and wasn't available. Fortunately, Ayrat was. I was able to schedule with Climate Helpp last minute, they were very responsive and flexible, and gave me a very fair price. Ayrat was on time, checked with me to see if everything looked good to me and asked if I wanted anything adjusted. He waited to make sure the AC was working properly, then cleaned up the area and removed the old unit. I hope I get a chance to work with him again soon, although I also hope I don't need to!
