I really wanted to love this place. I booked with lash tech Lucy due to her glowing reviews, however was disappointed. She initially charged $320 for a lash set that she called a "hybrid" but looked like a classic. I blindly kept going to her, booking appointment week after week for at least 4 or 5 months straight. I was a regular and she thanked me often for being a regular client. Every time I left my appointments, however, my friends would remark on how much she was ripping me off. They said I was being charged ridiculous prices, prices that techs would only charge for a mega hybrid but receiving incredibly subtle sets. I too would balk at her prices every time she named them, but would shrug and say oh well, maybe that's the price if good lashes. I had never had extensions before going to her (which was maybe a mistake to tell her) because she completely took advantage of that. One thing I will say is that she does do nice sets and she's good at her job. However, every time I left her office and heard the total I felt something was wrong but always tipped anyway and didn't fuss. The last time I went to her I was sick of it. She charged me $300 for a hybrid touch up, when it's clearly stated on the website that the price is much lower. And on other days, often would say things like, "ok I'm giving you a new set today okay?" Even though I always booked 2 week fills. I was assuming that I would still pay the 2 week price since that's what I had CLEARLY signed up for, but she would come up with scammy ways to trick you into saying yes to rip you off like this and make you pay full price. I was SHOCKED when I left the office that day and decided to look up the prices again since it seemed outrageous. I looked at the pricing to see she has charged me $80 more than the price was supposed to be for a 2 week fill. I texted the line immediately to tell her she made a mistake, to which a manager replied that she did in fact charge me the incorrect price. I realized then that she had been ripping me off the entire time I was going there. I had to look back at all my services I had booked and figured out that she was often making up new prices and charging me more than I was supposed to be charged. It's especially shameful after I had gone to her week after week, trusting her to take care of me since she always thanked me for being a loyal, returning client, and I assumed loyalty back. You don't treat your clients like that. Is this how you thank the people that help pay your bills? Even after all this loyalty she continued to lie to my face and ripped me off multiple times, probably thinking I was just easy money. Be careful with your generosity folks, because this is how people treat you. Her dishonest business practices speak to her character and the fact that she puts money first. I did not appreciate being treated like this, especially after being the one that generated so much income for her business over so many months. I will absolutely not be returning anymore, and found another great lash tech instead. If you want a comfortable, clean lash environment where people actually charge your what their services are worth and don't scam you, try Lash M. They really took care of me and I had a much better experience. I will not fall into the trap of someone like Lucy again. You have been warned. I have to agree with the reviewer who talks about Lucy's dishonest services. I had the same experience. Here's my story with Lucy: After reading all of the glowing reviews for Lucy, I decided to give her a shot as my first tech at LashSpot. I didn't want anything too drastic so I asked for a classic at first, and it was comical how little the difference it made. So I went in a few days later to get a hybrid, and she urged me to get volume. So I did, and it was excellent. However, one time I came in with a lot more lashes missing than before, and she charged me for a full set without saying anything. Then, half of the lashes fell off the same day -- it was as if she didn't even glue them on. I contacted LashSpot and they told me that I can get a fill with another tech, so I went in and got a hybrid refill. That's when I realized that I've been getting scammed by Lucy for months. The hybrid set by another lash tech was exactly the same as the volume by Lucy. When I asked the other tech why that was, they said that Lucy just has a different definition of hybrid and volume. That's absurd. All of Lucy's clients are getting scammed because she is charging hybrid sets at volume prices. I also noticed that one eye always shed a lot more/faster than the other which made me go in for a refill a lot more frequently, and I think this is a tactic to get her clients in for refills more often because nobody wants uneven eyes. Lucy may be good at lashes, but it's really not worth the absurd overpricing that she does. Also, neither Lucy or the other lash tech prep your lashes beforehand which is not a common practice elsewhere... Typically lash techs will clean your lashes and remove grown out ones before the filling, but not here. LashSpot also only gives 20% commission to their techs which is crazy, since they're doing all the work. I will not be returning. read more

Helen is super sweet and thorough and knowledgeable. The appointment took about 2hrs which is a bit long but I rather have quality than speed. I usually have panic attacks and need to sit up and/or have a fan etc... she made me feel at ease and never felt anxious the whole time!! LashSpot is super clean, bright, modern, welcoming. The bed is super comfy as well as the blanket. Helen was gentle and professional. My eyes did not sting after. 3.5 stars I used to be a regular here because I was obsessed with lashes and didn't know where to go. Even though I went frequently, I was not 100% happy with the results in comparison to the price I paid. I would get D's, 13, 14, 15 to have a more "cat eye" style and yes, they looked BEAUTIFUL yet slightly more than natural. PLUS the whole process was relaxing (I'd often fall asleep). However, often times when I got home, I would feel the lashes poking my inner eyelids and it would be painful. I gave feedback about this issue and she would try to fix it, but it would still be a problem and I'd end up rubbing my eye so much that the painful lashes would come off. I believe this was specific to the one girl who did my lashes, because after a year or so, I no longer saw her there nor did I have that issue. I think if you have the money for the lashes and upkeep, and maybe consistently go to someone with a lot of experience, you'll have a great time here. It just wasn't the case for me. read more

Beware of shady business practices!!! I found out about this place from a gift card that turned out to be a fake? The only reason I had scheduled this appointment at this specific location was due to the gift card and ended up having to pay for the services out of pocket. So in theory, they may have profited double from this from 1. selling the fake gift card and 2. having me pay out of pocket for the full service. I had contacted the business to express these concerns but truly did not feel as if they took it seriously until I explicitly asked for at least a partial refund of the services. I came in having done some research and knowing that I wanted a natural look that still felt long and voluminous. I opted for the Russian Sable Mini Set, thinking I could scale up if I needed to. My technician was Honorine and she took the time to explain to me exactly how it worked and walk me through the process. I described to her what I was looking for and she was able to show me what the lengths were and what would be good to get a natural looking lash (that I could always scale up in following sessions). *If you're looking for me describing their services, just scroll down to the end lol. Located in Japantown, this is the go-to place to make your eyes pop! LashSpot is located on the 2nd floor of a glass building with an orange arch around it. First floor is Crown & Crumpet (tea room) and you walk up the stairs or take the elevator to LashSpot. Parking is street, metered, and (pay-by-the-hour) garage. If you park in the streets/meter, I'd say make sure you hide all your valuables! I like to park in garage cause it's safe and I don't have to worry about the meter maid. If you like, you can also bus or Uber/Lyft here. You can book with them via Yelp (they respond fast), online, or phone. If you book before something a special event (New Years, Christmas, Valentines Day, etc), book in advance!! They book out quick! As for their 24-hour cancellation policy, you will be charged 100% because these techs are busy and they reserve a specific time slot for you. If you don't show, they get compensated for their time - because if you cancel last minute, where are they going to find another customer so fast, that could've had that time slot? It isn't guaranteed. A lot of spas have the 24-hour cancellation policy in place for this reason. So, if you need to cancel, try to do it outside of the 24-hours (and yeah, I know things sometimes pop up but it isn't their fault..). When you first enter LashSpot, you are welcomed by the receptionist Matt and/or owner, Mika. Both are very friendly and helpful. The place is clean and the atmosphere is very spa-like even though you're in an office building basically. LashSpot also sells make up, lash extension merchandise, and much more. They have some good products like lash serums to help you grow your natural lashes and cleansers for your lash extensions (yes, you have to clean them lol). Good time to check it out or consider while you're waiting or when you're done! I've been to LashSpot for about a year and I love how they do my lashes every time. All the ladies here always do a great job with my lashes and they're informative about the care for my lashes - my favorites are Yukari and Tina! I think one of the awesome things about LashSpot is they offer a service called Russian Sable, which is a type of lash that is lightweight compared to regular mink (most salons offer this) and it's imported from Japan. I always get Russian Sable Volume because I don't have many lashes (lol asian) and my lashes are thin/weak..so the Russian Sable lasts longer for me due to it's lightweight and the volume makes it pop more! I'd definitely recommend it to girls whose lashes are weak and thin like mine. To maintain your beautiful lashes, you'd have to do 2-3 week or 3-5 touch ups which isn't too bad versus getting a new full set every time! I usually go for the 2-3 week because it starts to look meh by the 3.5 week. Whenever I don't have lash extensions anymore, my eyes feel naked (it becomes addicting, trust me..). I get so many compliments on it - all the girls be jelly! I always recommend it to other girls, but it's the price that shy's them away - but it's SO worth it! You don't have to do a lot to look fab. I like it because it makes my eyes look nice even when I don't got make up on and I don't usually wear make up at work except on the weekends. Think about it like this .. you pay full price only once and continue to pay half the price or less (if you're a member) if you choose to continue to maintain it. Not too bad right? lol ;) LashSpot also offers a membership which is $25 per month and you get services and merchandise at a discounted price - worth if you come often to get your lashes done! When you get your lashes done, make sure you got no eye make up on and keep it away from water for 24 hours afterwards to let the glue settle! Last but not least, don't forget to tip gratuity for their service - just like restaurateurs, tips do make a huge difference for the techs. I always tip cash since card gratuity gets taxed. I came to LashSpot SF for the first time to get my lashes permed by Ashley, and I am amazed by the results-- it's been about a week since my appointment and they still look like I just got them done. Prior to my experience here, I've had my lashes permed at another place and didn't nearly look as good or last as long. Ashley made sure I was comfortable and walked me through each step even with my eyes closed; I found that helpful as it was informative rather than wondering what was going on my lashes . As for lash upkeep, it's pretty straightforward: don't wet your lashes or apply mascara for the first 24 hours-- of course, their artists will give you a better rundown at your appointment. Getting your lashes permed is a great option for those who love their natural lashes, but want a little more. As someone who curls their lashes everyday, this looks way better than using a lash curler. When my friend told me about lash extensions I was pretty underwhelmed. It sounded sort of scary and I didn't want to be running around like Kim Kardashian. She offered me a warm blanket and then did a consultation about what I was expecting. Then I basically passed out for the next 2 hours while she did her thing. And they looked pretty darned natural even if they were crazy long and curly and thick. I really was impressed. Monique explained what I could and could not do - like don't use oil based products on my face - and then sent me on my way. Flash forward a few weeks (3 to be exact) and I came in for a fill. I still had lashes although I had lost a few on the inside and outside. I probably would go 2 1/2 weeks max in the future with the sweet spot being about 2 weeks. Lashes still look amazing. It is so great to wake up and look in the mirror and feel pretty with no makeup on. Even my Mom complimented me when she saw me and she never notices anything like that. There are a lot of things I am thankful for, but sadly I was not blessed with long pretty eyelashes, I had been wanting to try extensions for awhile. I made my appointment with Daisy! She also gave me a courtesy reminder shortly before my appointment . The customer service was off to a great start! I arrived at the boutique and was greeted by her . She was friendly and did such a phenomenal job at explaining the process before she began applying the extensions. She asked me what "look" I was hoping to achieve and described the process in detail. Daisy was very knowledgeable about the products and explained the differences between mink and synthetic lashes, even inquiring  to make sure I was not allergic to the glue. After my lashes were completed, she took the time to explain how to care for them to achieve maximum lasting . Got my lashes done by Lucy C and I love them! She asked me what type of lashes I was going for and I told her I wasn't entirely sure but I definitely wanted something more natural for my first time. After inspecting my natural lashes, Lucy suggested starting with mink lashes because my natural lashes are pretty strong and would be able to hold them well. Russian sable lashes are specially imported and they are meant for those with weaker or thinner natural lashes. They also have more of a matte finish, so they resemble natural lashes more closely than mink lashes which are shinier. She said my natural lashes follow more of a cat-eye style, but since I wanted a little bit of length in the middle as well, she incorporated a slight doll-eye look. Since my natural lashes are stick-straight, she also advised having more of a curl in order for the lash extensions to be more noticeable. She went straight to work and did such a great job that I honestly can't remember if I had fallen asleep twice, or if I was just so relaxed that reality blended in with my subconsciousness. LOL! Before I knew it, an hour and a half had passed already. Before opening my eyes, Lucy sprayed a little bit of air at my lash line to allow the glue to dry out and reduce stinging when I open them. My eyes felt a slight burn for a few seconds (perfectly normal as long as it's not for more than a few seconds) but it quickly subsided. She provided me a lash wand -- basically like a clean mascara brush -- so I could comb out my lashes to maintain them and that was it. So far it's been 4 days and my lashes are still looking great! My female co workers have all noticed and gave me compliments on how natural and un-clumpy they look. I will provide an update in another week or so to see how they are holding up! I tried wearing eyeliner on one of the days and honestly think the lashes look better when I don't have eyeliner on because they are more noticeable (makeup tends to take attention away from the lash extensions, from what I see in myself so far). 2-WEEK UPDATE: It has been two weeks since I got my lash extensions done and although I've already shedded a lot of lashes, the extensions that are still remaining are holding up well and look quite natural. You can tell I've lost a bit of lash volume, but I'm impressed that I'm still able to comb them out and not get the clumpy look. The curl is also still there, and during the last week I've gone through hot and humid weather in Southeast Asia and have worn full make-up minus mascara (I did the whole shebang with eyeshadow primer, eyeshadow, eyeliner, and foundation/powder). I comb out my eyelashes every time after I shower, and I make sure to use light baby shampoo lather to rinse out my eye makeup, but that is all the self-care I have done. I don't think it has been too high-maintenance in the sense that I didn't have to change the way I sleep. The only thing I would change next time is have a more dramatic doll-eye style so that I have lengthier lashes all-around, especially towards the middle and inner corners. read more

I got eyelash extensions for the first time three weeks ago in Shibuya, Tokyo and was immediately hooked because ...who DOESN'T want to wake up beautiful and ready to go?! After coming back to the states, I wanted to find a place that offered the same lash type I had (Russian Sable) and LashSpot seemed to be the only one available. These lashes are more lightweight in comparison to Mink or synthetic and the curl tends lasts longer. This is perfect for me, because I wear glasses daily and I hate it when my lashes hit the lenses. I booked my "new client touch up" appointment a week in advance (they're very busy so I recommend trying to schedule something at least two weeks early if possible) and was assigned to a specialist named Lucy. Since I was a new client, we discussed what my end goal was for this session before diving in. She then proceeded to examine the condition of my lashes. This was when we ran into some issues. Lucy was shocked by the shoddy lash work I had done for me in Japan. She explained how the lashes were not applied properly, because the fibers were glued super close to root and the lashes were stuck/criss crossed together in awkward ways. Lucy suggested I have everything removed and get a full set instead of a regular touch up since it was just THAT bad. I agreed and she did her best to carefully take off all the fake lashes. Once that process was over, she put on a full set of Russian Sable lashes and I was good as new! I am extremely satisfied with how lovely they turned out. I got my lashes done with Honorie a couple days ago, they came out beautiful. I am a real baby when it comes to pain but I was comfortable throughout the whole procedure, no pain at all. No soreness in the days following. I got the hybrid Russian Sables @15 length. What I like most about Honorie is she really talks to you in detail about what you want, i knew my lashes weren't gonna be as long as I wanted because we talked about it before we started. She really listens and tries to understand what look you're going for You know you're gonna get exactly what you want when you go with her. I won't go back until they have 18's but I definitely feel the price is reflected in the work, I can feel each lash is glued individually instead of the clumpy mess that comes out of the cheaper places. So far I've lost VERY few lashes and usually the first couples days seem to be the heaviest shedding for me. I came here regularly for my lashes for almost 3 years. Unfortunately, my most recent experience with them has turned me off completely and I don't think I'll ever return. Long story short, I called in the morning (on the day of my appointment) to ask a question about my eye as I thought I was starting to get an infection on the lower lash line, and I didn't know if it was okay to still do the service or not. We played a bit of phone tag, and with out speaking or consulting with me, they canceled the appointment. When I said I still wanted to come in, they then couldn't get a hold of the technician to have her come in for my originally scheduled time (which I never asked to cancel in the first place). So not only can I not get my lashes done before I leave for vacation, but I see at the end of the day that I was charged for a "no-show" appointment. $150-- for a cancelation that I didn't make or ask for! I did not violate their cancelation policy because I did not cancel the appointment. They did. To then turn around and charge me for that is so unbelievable. I spoke with the owner as I assumed there must be some kind of mistake or misunderstanding. Nope! They stand by their charges. Taking money for a service that was never provided... some people would call that stealing. We'll see what my credit card company has to say about it. read more
