I grew out my eyebrows for three months, and it was ruined in about 5 minutes. I'm half Asian, I have eyebrows that are sparse and need to be filled in. She absolutely over threaded them and butchered my eyebrows for the next 6 weeks. She remarked that my skin was sensitive while she was threading; yes, my skin is generally sensitive but I had never had a threading hurt this much. I had a feeling that maybe she was over-doing it, but I can't exactly open my eyes while I'm getting hair removed so I decided to trust her. When she showed me the mirror, I didn't even want to look. I paid and left, and immediately started googling for eyebrow pens. It's actually so bad that I don't even want to attach a picture. I asked for a natural clean up and she gave me the stick eyebrows of the 2000s. I've gone here numerous times before. It has never been consistent. Sometimes, they barely thread it. Other times, it looks right and I'm happy with it. Never have they butchered it like this before though; I'm genuinely worried it might not grow back the same now. Extremely unhappy. The nicer photo is what your brows should look like--clean, crisp, and shaped. Unfortunately, I got the complete opposite (henna aside). I paid $17 for an eyebrow service that lasted less than five minutes and made almost no difference. The only noticeable result was redness and over-threading in areas where I barely even have eyebrow hair. They hardly trimmed anything, and I genuinely walked out looking exactly the same as when I walked in. I was so disappointed and drained that I didn't even have the energy to say anything in the moment. On top of that, the space feels very outdated, and the lighting is terrible--which doesn't help when you're trusting someone with your face. If you genuinely enjoy this place, I'm honestly concerned. Not to mention all I asked for was a clean up and they couldn't even do that Ladies, do yourself a favor and go to Rani Thread Magic instead. A very dear friend of mine showed up completely depressed to hangout with me a few weeks ago. Gosh, she was making me want to pick up the phone and call for a massage, a facial, my nails- polished and my poor toes massaged and nails polished instantly. I found out from her how the cold, cold, extremely cold nights of california are causing her to shake all night freezing like an unmelted ice cube. Poor thing, I admit it is cold still but what am I supposed to do about it? I know, so i did it. I bundled her up and we tossed ourselves into the car and we made it the city just in time for lunch. I wanted to try out the Eyebrow Queen Salon again. I have been there in the past and received nice eyes brows with my arches exactly in the right spot. After my eyebrows were groomed into perfection, my very dear, dear friend wanted her shaggy eye brows cleaned up. The gal that worked on her was the same one that worked on me. When we left we were both happy and my dear friend was not any longer depressed. The service was excellent. I felt very welcomed. I loved the work done on my eye brows. I will definitely go back to get more eyebrow services in the future. My eyebrows and eye lashes don't grow fast so it will probably be a couple of months before I need my eyebrows redone. read more

I went to Rupa here and she is so gentle and quick! She finished my eyebrows and upper lip within 5 minutes, and she did a fantastic job with both! For my eyebrows, she did a really great job of working around my natural eyebrow shape, and for my upper lip, she remarkably got all the hair off without causing me much pain (and I have a pretty low pain tolerance). Sometimes choices made on a whim are winners. This one sure was. My daughter had been told by one of her school chums that a particular salon on 24th was THE place to go for brow threading. We rolled up to that place, went in, got a bad vibe, then skedaddled back out to hit up the Yelp app. The Eyebrow Queen came up a few blocks away. There were a couple of customers ahead of us when we entered, which was good because it gave us a chance to watch and learn. I'm a child of the 70s who tweezed her own brows. Thankfully, I did a decent job at shaping them, but little did I know at the time that brow hair follicles are so freakin' fragile. If only chin hair follicles were as easy to kill. Sigh. Anyhow, my brows are well-shaped but thin as hell. So, as I waited for my only child's brow hairs to be yanked out of her face, I agonized over whether she would curse me in 40-something years. The outer ends of her brows seemed so delicate and sparse...I couldn't discern a marked shape and worried that there would be nothing there when all was said and done. Suddenly, it was her turn in the chair. The Eyebrow Queen waited patiently as I stuttered out my concerns. Before I knew it, my only baby was on her back in a chair with a rapidly-spinning string flying over her face. In short order, it was all done. My baby-faced baby who is closer to adulthood than to babyhood but who is still my baby sat up and displayed her new brows. What the ham, man?! How are her brows so defined and and trim yet somehow FULLER?? I took a closer look. The delicate ends that I had been so worried about - the same ends that had died on my own face - actually looked lush and shapely. My kid stated it perfectly: It's as though The Eyebrow Queen had "rearranged the hairs." I'm thinking that maybe I should try it myself...perhaps my nearly-invisible brows can be brought back to life? If anyone can do it, The Eyebow Queen can. I have very problematic eyebrows-uneven, and messy looking. By some miracle the stylist here was able to give me perfect looking eyebrows in just 10 minutes. I'm so impressed! I do have to give two warnings to anyone who might have never done threading before (this isn't a comment on their threading style, it's a universal problem): one, threading certain areas hurts a lot. There were some points where the painful, weird sensation was so bad that I almost cried out, but managed to hold it in. Second, it irritates sensitive skin. My skin felt itchy for days afterwards, and I developed red bumps that look like acne from scratching. So word to the wise, make a conscious effort to not touch your face after threading!! read more
