Nice family-run Mexican spot on 145th and highway 99. You get what you expect here which is huge portions of melty, cheesy, goodness. I had the chile relleno with chicken and rice and beans and it was huge and delicious. The margaritas are awesome and strong. Salsa is great and has a nice kick! They just redid the parking lot/road area by the restaurant so it's a bit easier to get in/out now. Friendly people working there! read more

Went here with a friend last night to grab some Mexican food. I'd never been here before, even though I drive past it all the time. The meal started well enough. Our waitress brought us two glasses filled with ice and a large pitcher of water. I love it when places give you a pitcher of water because it means I can drink as much water as I want and I don't have to try to flag someone down for a refill. We were also brought chips and salsa and I was a big fan of the salsa. It tasted pretty fresh to me, though I have no idea if it was or not. My entree, a chicken tostada with guacamole, was decent. The portion size was quite large. The chicken was okay, but pretty dry overall, which was a bit of a disappointment. It would have been much better had I gotten it without meat. My friend did not enjoy the spinach enchiladas she ordered. She said there was something about the flavor that she did not like. However, she found the rice and beans to be pretty solid. Our waitress was friendly and checked in periodically to see if we needed anything. She also split the bill for us on request. Prices seemed a bit high to me for some of the dishes, but most seemed pretty much consistent with what I've seen at other Mexican restaurants in the area. Overall, Las Margaritas was okay. Nothing special. It's pretty much in line with similar places like Azteca, Jalisco's, etc. I would go here again, but I definitely wouldn't go out of my way to do so. read more

Nom nom nom nom. That is what I do when I sit down at the table. The chips are always fresh, the salsa always has a good bite, and the basket is miraculously always full. (Ok, so they take it away and bring it back to keep it full, but still.) Service at this location is always good, even when they're packed. They are a a bit on the more expensive side for Mexican food, but the plates are always large and you get good value. I had carne asada, which was fabulous. I'd have to say this Las Margaritas features a plethora of meh-type americanized mexi food. I've been here a few times, and their food isn't bad, but it's not smack-yo mama good either. I've tried many different dishes, and none of them stand out as spactacular to me. The chicken is always really tasty, and is of the pulled-variety so it stays really moist. The chips and salsa are really, really good too, and I could probably sit in the bar with a mojito or two and just fill up on those. The portions, even on the small lunchtime specials, are ginormous. The mexican rice is always really great, but the coleslaw is absolutely atrocious, it tastes like... well, it doesn't have any particular flavor. It just tastes old. Not in an unfresh way, but whatever dressing they put on it makes the cabbage taste like the scent of an old, musty room or something. Hard to describe, don't eat the slaw. It's right across the street from my work, so when my bosses feel generous, they sometimes buy me lunch from here. I grew up going to this place, so I decided to stop in for dinner on the way from the airport to my dad's place. Couldn't even find parking in the parking lot it was so packed. Walked in and got seated - there were several large groups of people there and it was boisterous to say the least - lots of kids yelling and screaming - ugh. Service was fairly quick for being so crowded. They brought chips and salsa right away. I'm not sure what other people were being served - I thought the salsa was delicious. Ordered a pollo asada burrito and a pastor taco. The pastor taco was DAMN good, better than many restaurants in San Diego. The burrito was just ok - weird stuff inside (broccoli?) and not nearly enough chicken. I definitely want to go back and try some of the carne asada stuff because to me, that's the true test of a Mexican joint. read more

This place was a little odd. I wanted chicken fajitas, so did my mom. We didnt even look at the menu, we just ordered chicken fajitas for 2. Apparently, they don't have this as an option! The in-laws took us here for dinner a few weeks back as they really like this place. Based on this experience, I will no longer let them pick restaurants. The chips and salsa were good but the chicken in my burrito was bland. There was absolutely zero seasoning of the shredded chicken and no amount of salsa or Tapatio was able to salvage this meal. I don't see how they can supposedly make awesome authentic dishes like mole yet totally fail at something as basic as seasoning their chicken. If I could give this junk of a restaurant no stars I would. Actually I would deduct stars. We went for dinner and I started off with a mango margarita...it came and it was a berry flavor. It was still tasty so I drank it, I could over look that. The salsa and chips were gross, no flavor and the salsa tasted like stale water. Then I ordered a seafood chimichanga with no scallops, unfortunately they also forgot to add my crab too. So I started to eat my shrimp chimichanga, and I realized it was soggy and bland tasting. I just didn't like it, so I sent it back. The waitress sees my plate and says she can't refund it because I ate half of my plate....umm I ate none of the beans nor rice, and less than a quarter of the enchilada (which is what i'm sure I got). If you've ever been to a mexican restaurant you know how large the portions are so just imagine one bite taken out of it....But she tried to save herself by giving me some free flan, which was burnt, chunky tasting and as bland as the rest of the food I tried to eat. Usually whenever anyone says something is "like crack" it means that person really has never actually tried crack. I'll validate that opinion by saying the tortilla chips they give your here are like crack. No matter how hard I tried, I just could not stop eating them. I'd tell myself no more, your food's about to come... but then there I was in mid conversation realizing I was again stuffing chips in my mouth. The salsa was good too... not that super watery stuff. Needless to say, after devouring 2 baskets worth of chips I was able to finish probably no more than half of my arroz con pollo. Oh well, I guess I have lunch for tomorrow. The arroz con pollo was good. I wish they had given me more tortillas to use, though I'm sure they would've been happy to supply more if I would have asked. Food arrived promptly and service was nothing to complain about. One thing that irked me was the fact that there were no prices in the drinks portion of the menu... lots of options but no mention of how much anything costs. This bothers me. For one, I don't want to order a delicious sounding margarita only to find out when I get the bill that it was a $15 delicious sounding margarita. And secondly, I don't want to have to ask the server to run down the prices of every drink on the menu for me, it's annoying and I'll likely forget what he said the second he leaves. I've been coming here since I was a little kid. It's definitely tex-mex, so don't get offended when you find cheddar cheese smothering your beans and the standard 1-?? combination menu format. If really authentic Mexican is what you are after, this is not it, and good luck finding that in Seattle. I like this place because they do what they do well, and it is consistent. I see the same waiter here that served my family when we came 20 years ago, and I imagine a lot of the staff has been here a long time. I've eaten the #7 chicken chimichanga so many times since my childhood that it boggles my mind. The chips are consistently hot and fresh, the salsa is great. The food is similar to what you would find at a major tex-mex chain, but much better, because it is made by people who have a connection to the restaurant and they have been doing it a long time. read more

I've tried this place 3 times now. 2 out of 3 times the service was awful. The first time, we walked out after 30 minutes without even being offered a glass of water much less having our order taken. That said, the third time we got excellent service. The food is sadly on par with most mediocre Americanized Mexican restaurants. Overcooked ground beef, cheese, beans and rice sort of thing. Far too expensive for the bland quality. The bathrooms were borderline nasty. They smelled terrible and were pretty rundown. When I see gnarly restrooms in a restaurant, it makes me question the overall sanitation standards of that restaurant... First off let me say I am very new to Seattle up from So Cal where I have lived for over 50 years, and I LOVE Mexican food. Las Margarita is not only not good, it is bad. I ordered a taco combo plate (normally a safe item). The taco shells were premade from a box (think taco bell hard shell). The meat was ground beef that was very greasy and devoid of flavor. We go here about once a month, because its kid friendly, and the portions here are so big, that you have lunch for the next day... Nothing fancy inside..about 20 tables, and a small lounge with about 5-6 tables...but the staff is what keeps us coming back..always nice and quick with there service.. I usually stick with the chicken burrito..with rice and beans...i know it does not sound exciting...but its tasty, and the price is right....8-9 dollars...and like i said, you will have leftovers... Came here with the fiancee for dinner the other night. The restaurant parking lot is small, but we happened to get a spot right by the door. Lucky us; it was 14 degrees outside. We weren't "greeted". We simply let them know that there were 2 of us. We were seated in a back booth where we were provided with chips (a little stale) and salsa (very good). Our waiter brought us 2 glasses with ice and a pitcher of water (thumbs up!), then asked us what we would like to drink. I got a Coke and the fiancee had a margarita on the rocks. After contemplation on the margarita's flavor, he decided that he should have asked for Cuervo. I ordered the carne asada, my go-to Mexican dish. The fiancee got a combo meal of enchiladas and a tamale. The beans were obviously made in house, which was nice. Rice was standard. The meat was well-marinated and spiced, but a little dry in places. The fiancee was pleased with his choices and had enough to take home. The waitstaff was attentive, but not intrusive. The prices were standard for your average sit-down Mexican restaurant, such as Azteca. I would say that they are about on par with each other. If I had a choice, I would go to Jalisco's on Lake City Way. read more

Just got my DoorDash order. Had a few bites then tossed it all minus the chips and salsa. What a disappointment. I ordered a tamale, a Chile relleno, an enchilada and some tortilla soup. I'm genuinely confused as to why the relleno looked more like an omelette. Clearly they used canned chilis for the relleno and it shows. The enchilada didn't have any sauce on top. It was chicken wrapped in a tortilla, The tamale was beyond inedible and the soup tasted like Campbell's tomato soup. The only good points of this meal was the shredded chicken, it was really good. I see there are quite a few negative reviews and normally they would be enough for me to not try someplace since I tend to rely on Yelp for absolutely every single important decision in my life, especially when it comes to whether I'm gonna like my dinner. My impression of the decor was that it was actually sweet instead of tacky, but maybe that was just the mood I was in at the time. It was festive, to say the least, and the staff was friendly and attentive, calling us "amigos" by the time we left the place. But that's probably their usual way. My friend said the seafood was his favorite so I went with the seafood enchiladas and he got the seafood crema. We both ordered margaritas, because, I mean, come on. They have margaritas. It's the right idea to order them. The obligatory chips and salsa were quite fresh and tasty and I will admit to being a bit of a snob (ok, a total freaking snob) when it comes to salsa. I exercised a good bit of restraint although I could have easily devoured at least half a basket of those crispy, salty triangles of love. Of course the portions were pretty big, especially with the rice and beans and pickled slaw (which I found to be rather bland and wondered what it might be like a little crunchier and more pickled), but I have to say the seafood enchiladas were truly delicious. They were full of flavor and the seafood really tasted fresh and perfectly cooked. I didn't really have high expectations for the food, but I was quite surprised, in a good way. I tasted a couple of bites of my friend's seafood crema and that was also really tasty and delicious. I'm thinking their seafood dishes might be much better than the other options, from what I read from my fellow Yelpers? Either way, I would definitely go back for the seafood enchiladas and maybe get them without the beans and rice so there's more room for the chipsssss. read more

A solid local Mexican joint. The food is what you'd expect - standard (gringo) Mexican fare with a few more traditional surprises on the menu like lamb birria. Decor is lovely- bright and colorful with lots of detail. Staff is very friendly and attentive (that bowl of chips never gets empty!) They have a good happy hour, too. What can I say about this place... Being originally from Colorado ('native') and spending much time down in So. Cal, I was on the quest for the best mexican food Seattle had to offer. Now first off, Seattle isn't known for it's mexican food. And no one should come to the northern border expecting food from the southern border. But surely some place has got to have good food around here... So I started going to this place around 2002. And I continue to come back... even trying the Auburn location since I switch living North to South. And here's what I've found... Service: Never had a problem getting a seat even when it's a busy night. Sometime that means eating in the bar but hey, it's a shorter distance for the margaritas to travel. The staff is attentive and makes you feel like you're at a mexican olive garden ('Where you're family'). Food: Again, my search has been to find the best mexican food. The way I test it is by ordering a standard which is Chile Verde. It's a dish that just about every true mexican restaurant should know how to make and make well since there isn't much to it. Being from Colorado and living a good bit of life in the southwest, if the food doesn't compare to what you'd get down south, it's a fail. This place wasn't. The food was authentic in taste and appearance. The rest of the menu is also excellent and well portioned even for hungry eaters. Ratio of entree to rice/beans is about 60/40. I love the salsa. My family of 8 was seated quickly and offered excellent service on our last visit. Sure we got to sit in the bar rather than the dining room, but I think this was ingenious, plus the bar was empty. Our server and the bartender were super great, they came back, bringing more chips and bigger salsa bowls every time, plus they gave us a pitcher of water. I didnt love my veggie fajitas, but they werent bad. They did come with sour cream when I asked for not, but accidents happen. The salads though looked delicious. I am definetly getting this next time. Great big plates with exotic looking things on it. Mango maybe? My dad got a cactus dish. Okay lets just get to the point. The food is great, service is good and the best part is that is super close to where i stay. This place is always super packed come dinner time. i've lived in shoreline for about for more than half of my life and this restaurant has been here and running since ive moved here. Obviusly that means something! The pollo con crema is my FAVORITE dish! I used to hate it compared to the one they serve at azteca but now i like las margaritas version better. It has rice on the bottom, chicken, onions, mushrooms, bell peppers and cheese and it is extremely delicious! The enchiladas are cheap and very tasty as well! Definitely reccomend this place if your looking for sit down mexican food. The prices are around the same as Azteca, maybe a dollar or so cheaper, but this place has more of an authentic feel. OMG, their Chicken in Mole Poblano is to fucking die for! Went here with some roomies for dinner and figured it would be an over glorified Azteca, boy was a wrong. Dead wrong. With many classic recipies (Chiles Releno, Carne Asada Tacos....) as well as some traditional recipies you don't see too often (Albondigas Soup)...they never cease to have something for everyone even given the cuisine is Mexican. I had the Albondigas the first time I was there and it was awesome, and the next time I tried the Chicken in Mole Poblano, and was hooked on that dish every since.....hell, it is the only thing I order these days. The complimentary chips and salsa are kickin too....'specially the salsa verde. While this place is almost always busy and it can be quite loud as a result.....it is worth it for the quality of the food. read more

This restaurant is right on my way home. Before eating here, I spent a lot of time drooling over their menu, and all my friends said they were "the most authentic mexican food in town." I got take out a couple days ago, and I loved it! But it wasn't authentic mexican food. At all. Authentic mexican food is simple ingredients, simple flavors, and that big-family feel. If I don't feel like I'm on the beach eating it, it's not authentic. The only place I have ever had authentic mexican food was mexico and home-cooking in texas. Misconceptions aside, this food was delicious. The one thing that was a little more authentic was the spanish rice. Usually in Seattle it's saturated with tomato paste and seasonings. I LOVE americanized spanish rice, don't get me wrong, but authentic rice is a little more mild than we like it here. That was how they did it. My dining partner, who usually hates the stuff, was able to stomach quite a bit happily. I got the combination with 2 enchiladas (en mole) and a taco. The taco was a little soggy upon reciept, but it was delicious, and a little sog is to be expected in a box for 30 minutes. The enchiladas were some of the best ive had in the area, but not by far. They were marginally better but much more expensive, so I still see myself alternating between here and azteca. The thing that made them so good was that there was actually real onion in my cheese-and-onion enchilada. Like long delicious strips of the stuff. That's what I want, not measly tasteless, pureed bits of onion excuses. The mole sauce was a bit less rich than it would have been even at azteca. In traditional mexican cooking, they use less but it's very very rich. I admit it, I am a mexican food snob. I can't come up with a compliment without a matching negative point. The food was delicious, servers were fast and friendly, and I was a happy lady after eating. The point-de-la-resistance is that they give you chips and salsa for take-out and you don't even have to ask!! :D That's my kinda place. read more
