Nothing fancy but seamed rather authentic. The place is at the shell station plaza. Easy to miss it as it is not flashy. The staff was great and greeted me when I walked in. She also made sure I had the condiments (hot sauce) to go when packing my food up. Today was a quick breakfast to go. A Meat breakfast burrito and two breakfast tacos were very good, but they are basic. If you want lettuce or sour cream to be added, then you will need to ask for that as a side. My wife had the traditional American breakfast with eggs, bacon, and potatoes. Overall, a very satisfying breakfast with no extras or fancy set up. I hate even reviewing taquerias because I'm soooo picky. I have had some absolutely amazing tacos in this area so the bar is set super high. That being said, this place wasn't bad but I wasn't in love. The chips were a little stale but the salsa was delicious and fresh. The service was middle of the road but it was also packed so that's understandable. Everyone was friendly. I felt like my tacos were just okay. A little greasy and the beans were very salty. The guacamole was fantastic. One thing I really didn't understand or like is why they did a 15% service charge for me dining alone but then prompted for tip as well. Let me tell you why !!! First they charge almost 10% if you use a credit card ... they closed down their salsa bar so they give you one salsa to go and charge you 59 cents for any extras ... I wanted both red and green ... nobody else does this ... I ordered a breakfast burrito that was on the menu for 2.99 but charged 3.74 added cheese so they charged me .52 for the cheese on top of the 3.74 ... but I didn't get the beans but that didn't matter however ... now I asked for the chorizo to be well done but it came very under cooked ... almost raw ... when questioned the bill they got mad and told me it was because I used credit ... nothing added up !!! WARNING: RUDE MANAGER! YOU WILL BE CHARGED MORE THAN THE LISTED MENU PRICES!!! This was my first and last time coming here. We ordered 2 Taco Plates and some Horchata. The Horchata was a cheap drink mix, not very good. The carnita and beef fajita tacos were very good, but the rest of the food (rice, beans Barbocoa, al pastor) was bland and lacked any seasoning. Server was very nice and attentive and the salsa and chips were very good. I've had real Mexican food (from El Paso) and this was just so so. I would have given it 3 stars if it was left at that... When we got the bill we were charged $5 more than the advertised price on the menu. I pointed it to the server who then got the manager. The manager apologized for the discrepancy but said there was a sign at the front that stated "prices have increased" - never saw this sign by the way - and said he would charge the menu price this time around but to keep that in mind next time we come in. Annoying, but I appreciated him being honest and changing the bill... We get the new bill 10 minutes later and the manager only took off $1. I brought it up with the server again who brought the manager out. I asked why he didn't match the bill to the menu as he had previously stated. He said he NEVER agreed to that and only said he would take off $1 and he was allowed to charge those prices because of the sign. I told him you can't post a sign that says prices have increased in an unclear location, not update your menus, and then charge a different amount after the meal is eaten. I understand places have increased their prices, but everywhere else we have been have had the common courtesy of updating their menus. He mentioned the sign again and rudely asked me to tell him what law says he can't post the sign and charge a higher price!! At this point we were both understandably frustrated and he suddenly tells my husband and I to not pay for our meals and we don't have to come back! (Passive aggressive much??) I told him that is not necessary, I am more than happy to pay for my meal as it was priced on the menu and asked what about the tip for the server? He insisted he would tip the server himself and it would "just be easier on everyone if you left". My husband offered to pay for the bill as is and the manager again refused and said we should go. I have never been to a place where I have been treated so poorly and so blatantly had a manager insist his deceptive pricing was perfectly legal!!! Oh, and since you so rudely asked and common sense is lacking, here is your law regarding deceptive pricing: ‍ TEXAS BUSINESS AND COMMERCE CODE. Title 2. Sec. 17.46. (9) & (24) For the manager, you should be completely ashamed of yourself. Being completely unprofessional and aggressive towards a customer is NEVER okay. The need to update your menu prices is a given. If you make a mistake, own it. Dont expect your customers to foot an arbitrary increase and not list the price increase with each item. Printing out a paper menu with updated prices or offering a link to an online menu is not difficult. For everyone else, be warned you will be charged more than the listed menu price!!! EDIT*** After posting this review on Google the manager took the time to reply back and called me "an incompetent child". Just WOW!!! If that doesn't scream unprofessionalism, I don't know what does!! Based on the other reviews it is clear this isn't the first time it's happened... So full disclosure, my visit was prompted by name alone. Someone very special to me shares the name and for that reason, I hoped to snag a t-shirt with my breakfast tacos. With no shirts available, opted for the huevos rancheros of my breakfast visit. And Had it not been for a flatware malfunction, I'd go on to say how honest this food was. I mean it, the grub was good and didn't pretend to be anything other than that. As for the malfunction, god damn slab of sunny-side-up fell off my fork and splashed into a pool of warm salsa and egg yolk. An embarrassing line of salsa splatter, crossed my white-shirted chest and both lapels of an otherwise smart looking jacket. Ugh, gotta good laugh at my meeting and a "welcome to Texas" from the client. Anyway, I enjoyed Daisy's honest good food and spectacular guacamole. I really love their tacos, they are small, but super delicious. Also have had their ceviche both times, it's really good as well, but a tad pricey. My daughter, my fiancé and I were craving some good tacos but we didn't feel like driving too far. We searched for a place nearby our home and found this place. The restaurant was very casual yet very tidy and clean and cleanliness is super important to me! We came here during the week around 7 ish so it wasn't busy at all but we were happy to go in and try a new spot. Our food was delicious. More on the side of authentic Mexican food than the Tex-Mex that's super popular with chain restaurants. My daughter loves Mexican food and she literally cleaned her plate.
