Wonderful experience at Lardon for lunch on a Saturday. Super friendly and informative servers, great vibe and delicious food and drink.

First time here on a Sunday for brunch. Greeted by warm and knowledgeable staff and a lovely ambiance that was reminiscent of a corner French cafe. Absolutely lovely selection of meats & cheeses which were thoughtfully picked and plated. Cocktails on par with some of the very best I've had. Causally elegant, I will be returning. Additionally, the sandwiches were delicious to the very last bite. That Pastrami IS outstanding. Well done Lardon! Kudos to all! read more

In my past life, I worked in a deli so the smell + aesthetic of this place brought comfort. There is only black tea for iced tea. No iced green tea, or a seasonal menu iced tea. Disappointing. I was in a hurry, so I ordered a ham & cheese croissant. The croissant was flaky, somewhat buttery. Not really. Inside the croissant was half of a slice of 1 piece of ham no cheese whatsoever. $6 for an empty croissant? please do better. I should've played it safe just ordering a cookie instead. read more

Wonderful!!! We came here on the first night of dinner service and it was perfect. Amazing service, wonderful atmosphere. The charcuterie board is to die for - it would be the main reason I come back. Staff seems very knowledgeable and pleasant. I hope I can return soon - great job!!! read more

Stopped by for lunch yesterday. Warm enough to sit outside so didn't get then opportunity to enjoy the decor and vibe inside, which looks lovely. Service was a bit hit an miss. Had to ask for more water had to ask for silverware but It wasn't a big deal. Food was tasty although the Frenchie sandwich was very light on the Brie. Nevertheless their meats where really tasty and we will be back one evening soon. Worth a stop. read more

Stopped in for a charcuterie board lunch and to grab an Italian sub sandwich for our flight home. The Chef's board was perfect size for two. The house cured meats were seasoned to perfection. The cheese selections were amazing and paired well. The sandwich had a a nice, mildly spicy heat to it. The bread struck a good balance of chewiness. Being firm enough to hold together all the deliciousness while not being overly tough to get a good bite of all the deliciousness. read more

We keep coming back! 3/3 visits have come for charcuterie and cocktails. Must try the truffle Lardo!!!! Friendly, knowledgeable staff that offer great recommendations. We look forward to coming here again. read more

Had a blast here, the truffle Lardo was wonderful. All the meats were top tier and they serve each board with a lovely assortment of accoutrements (honey with the comb was a standout). Loved our server too! read more

The place is the amazing, great ambiance. The server we had was amazing, and really proactive about explaining their menu and meats to us. We had the Chef Board for Charcuterie and added Lardo (truffled fat). The meats were really unique and great quality, the cheeses are very artisanal. We enjoyed Lardo a lot, it was almost like a whipped light that is truffle flavored. read more

The charcuterie board is a must! The server was very knowledgeable with pairings to create the best bite! Super cute atmosphere. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to try something new. read more

Such a cute spot and a perfect brunch place! We got a charcuterie and cheese board, and I also got a Reuben sandwich so it was meat overload but I loved every second of it. All of the other sandwiches looked amazing as well and would love to try a different one next time! The service was amazing and the staff was so friendly which was a plus ;) read more

Had a great meal here highlighted by the charcuterie. Outstanding. I only got 3, next time I'll get a lot more. Hotel California is a miss. The Frenchie is good. The Rueben is great. I'll be back. read more

Great addition to the neighborhood. Modest but thoughtful and delicious sandwich menu along with nicely curated selection of wines and beers. Cheese and charcuterie boards could be larger portions IMO, but a comparable price is reflected. I'm also a pig and can never ever never get enough meat or cheese. Check out this place, it's a gem! read more

This place is fabulous. Great staff, amazing food, great experience. The charcuterie plates are some of the very best in chicago. Staff is very educated on the food and very friendly. Great experience. I will be back!!! read more

Place is great only issue is they aren't doing pickup orders yet. Think they're trying to figure out quality control, but have wanted to grab a sandwich to go a few times and was disallowed. Needless to say, the sandwiches are excellent and they have found a niche in the neighborhood and are here to stay. Should always have a crowd and looks like they can host private events too read more

One of the spots I wrote down to try on my short honeymoon back home and I was impressed. Great sandwiches with reasonable portions, outstanding homemade chips, and great service. read more

My husband and I enjoyed a late dinner on a Friday night at Lardon. The staff, particularly Trent, is extremely knowledgeable. We were impressed with the curing they do on-site and the amount of locally sourced ingredients they use. Unfortunately, there was a gap in service on this busy evening but after the general manager stopped by and we let her know she and Trent went above and beyond to make our meal special. We will definitely be back and we hope this spot continues to thrive. read more

My friend and I split a mixed charcuterie plate and a sandwich. The charcuterie (housemade) was good...but lots of restaurants in Chicago have good charcuterie. The sandwich was ok but nothing special. The real issue was the service. We waited probably 25 - 30 minutes for a coffee at the end of the meal. Normally that would be annoying but not a huge deal...the issue was that we were sitting outside in the sun and the heat was brutal (95º+). In those circumstances, the waitstaff really need to make an effort to move things along....or let us know about the delay and we can decide if we want to cancel the order. Then, I discovered 2 days later that they had switched my credit card with another patron! I didn't notice for a few days (nor did he) because they were both Chase cards. It was a real pain tracking him down and doing the swap. I called Lardon to let them know. their mistake..the person I spoke to said that they would reverse the billing transactions (they charged his meal to my card and vice versa) and that a manager would call me. They did neither. You can get very good charcuterie and sandwiches at lots of restaurants in Chicago (Tempesta, Publican, etc)...with better service. I'm not sure there is a reason to go back to Lardon. read more

Beautiful decor and vibe. It's a great place to grab wine and cheese. We got some cheese and meats, two sandwiches, and the squash soup. Everything was just ok, nothing special to me. Squash soup was terrible, too thick, and spiced like a pumpkin spice latte. i could cry. read more

My favorite spot in the neighborhood, hands down. Always delicious, whether I'm enjoying their featured sandwich on the patio by day or a chef-curated charcuterie board by night read more

Went in for lunch. The banh mi and Reuben were both a couple of the best I'd had anywhere. You can tell that care goes into their meats. The celery root soup was also delicious but really pricey for soup. Can't wait to try their other sandwiches! read more

My girlfriend and I really wanted to like this place! It's very nice inside and staff is very friendly. We ordered some coffee, sandwiches, and charcuterie. The coffee was amazing here, but unfortunately, that was the only highlight. The sandwiches were okay at best; ratios seemed off, tasted more like ingredients near each other rather than cohesive food items. Charcuterie was nice, but nothing insane (might be on us for ordering the wrong thing). Ingredients seem to be high quality; if you're really into charcuterie it might still be worth a try read more

Can't attest to the food because I was turned away. Noon on a Tuesday, walk in to order a sandwich. They are not taking orders, can only dine in. There is a 40 minute wait. Can I call in an order? No, you cannot. No thank you. read more

We had a really great dinner here. Charcuterie tray was outstanding but really loved the service and the folks working there. Made our experience over the top! read more

I'm curious why you don't accept orders over the phone? Not everyone has an hour to spend for lunch. Seems like you're losing a lot of business because of this issue. read more

Tried to Ruben and it was very good! The meat tasted very well seasoned and fresh. Housemade potato chips was an added bonus. Excited to try other items from this menu! read more

Wow wee we wow! This place definitely left a lasting impression since I came in with my girlfriend and left alone. More about that later. We started some rose and it was absolutely amazing. The waitress, I think her name was Laurel or Lauren, picked it out, and when I told her how spectacular it was she smile and gave me a wink! Great beginning to an absolutely awful night and a fantastic meal. Rose decided on the chef's board for charcuterie after interrogating me about flirting with the waitress. I was ready for her attacks this time! I told her that maybe she wouldn't notice people being so nice to me if it was something more common in my life. She told me that I shouldn't talk to her like that. The Soppressata was my favorite after we tried them all. The entire board was carefully curated as a marathon of taste. More like an iron man through the soft and suple hills of the midwest, with soft herbal notes as polite as the neighbors it was born near. Rose threw one of the olives at me and it hit my glasses, juice ruining my eyesight. She laughed, but I could tell it was a spiteful laugh. I went to the bathroom to clean up. When I returned there was more wine! This time a fantastic Barbera. I was also greeted by what Rose had ordered, with the neglect of my requests. A heaping bowl of buttery Frisee and Lardon. The chunks of rendered pork belly were less visable than I had wished, but the dijon mustard and vinegrette absolutely made up for it. You know what she said to me when we had finished? "You finished really quickly like you always do." and laughed and I just lost it. Laurel was walking our carrots and ancient grain over to us, which looked incredible, and I took two fistsfuls. I saw in our waitresses eyes that this was not normal dining ediquette at Lardon. Why should it be? How many relationships end with a cheating narcisist wearing a quinoa facemask at Lardon? Not many. The look on the staffs face as Rose stood up and elbowed me in the nose were evidence of that. She stormed off and my nose poured blood. Strangely enough I caught it in my wine glass. Something primal and foul took over because as I laid roughly $200 on the table and walked out, I drank the wine. I drank my blood and it tasted good. Also the decor is adorable! i wonder if the space directly north of them will be for events? read more

Passing thru Chicago in Nov '21, I'm from California, not all prepared for the 29 degree weather and the snow but I decided to venture out for eats. I cannot express how delighted I am that I chose this place! First of all, the staff is ridiculously friendly and informative. Mary Kate took care of me - she was helpful, nice and fun. I sampled the Elenor beer and the Salted Carmel, I decided on the Soulmam Salted Carmel Brown to compliment my charcuterie board and my Rueben sandwich. I'll start with the charcuterie board; meats chosen - salami and chorizo, and for the cheeses - Humboldt fog, prairie breeze cheddar and rouge sleepy cheddar. The board had some pickled veggies, apples, olives, almonds and the spreads consisted of some jam concoction that was delicious, honeycomb, mustard and some other in-house concoction I've never heard of but seemed to match every cheese and every meat. And now the sandwich, the pastrami was so tender and thinly cut that it fairly melted in my mouth. A sandwich is NOT just a sandwich! This sandwich blessed my palate, like manna from the salami gods. I'm dramatic but I'm also a lover of food, so what can I say. I know readers will roll there eyes if I don't complain about at least one thing so here it goes...the homemade potato chips were perfection, so light and airy...ready for it, here's the complaint...a couple of them were a bit salty. But totally edible! I recommend this place TO EVERYONE. read more

I love this place! I've only been once but they had such a nice variety meats, cheeses, and drinks. The staff was really nice and helpful. They also provided great recommendations. read more

The best charcuterie and sandwiches in the city! I had the Rueben and I highly recommend. Fantastic service as well!

We picked up an Italian sub and the California Turkey bacon sandwich. Both were good sandwiches, but felt very overpriced for what they were. The Italian sub was especially small for the price. The house chips were awesome. Overall, decent sandwiches but I won't go back. read more

This place is fantastic! Firstly, all the charcuterie are made in house! Secondly, the sandwiches are mouthwatering delicious. Thirdly the wine list is expansive for such a small shop. Fourthly, the staff is incredibly sweet and knowledgeable. This place is about to blow up in the best way! read more

I park my car and decided to eat at this restaurant. They have a tables and chairs outside for dine in. If you want to feel the fresh air and nice view outside, you can sit here. When I enter to their resto their place has a vintage look inside. The atmosphere was nice and peaceful. I went to the counter and look at their menu. I ordered Reuben sandwich and Garden party for my juices. I love the taste of the bread of Reuben. It has perfect taste for me. This Reuben has a side dish of chips and the bread has a delicious filling. About their drinks I like how it serve fresh and cold. You can feel the freshness of it when you sip it because it is an herbal juice. I like it! I highly recommend this resto. read more

Got the chefs board and orange wine. Everything was incredible!!!!!!! The bresaola and truffled lardo are a must if you stop by. Can't wait to try their sandwiches. Wow. read more

It was quite packed, the last time we went in here. They have nice options on their menu but me and my friend both ordered their sandwich and a glass of cocktail. The staff has a pleasing personality and was friendly. We waited for a long while until our food was served but it was understandable since there is quite a lot of people inside. The sandwich has a nice portion. It was freshly made and the ingredient is fresh as well. It is delicious and I will definitely order it again. Meanwhile, the cocktail was also good. All in all, it was a good time eating in here. Although the restaurant is small, they have a great staff and delicious food. read more

This was the best dining experience we have had in quite some time. The food was amazing but the service was even better. From our waiter to the bartender to the manager they all were extremely attentive, friendly and professional. We can't wait to go back! read more

We had a terrific charcuterie brunch! The cheeses were unique and fantastic...the cured meats were exceptional. We also had a great bottle of a Spanish Rose that was fabulous. Service was also terrific -- and in spite of the fact that it is a small dining room -- we were never rushed. Highly recommend, especially for anyone who likes grazing on a terrific plate of cheese and meats! read more

This place is maddeningly inconsistent. Sometimes the Reuben is the best in the city and sometimes the bread is so overly toasted as to have the dry, rock hard consistency of biscotti. It's come out that way for me three of the last four times and the problem seems to be getting worse. I've never sent it back but I'm thinking of taking that unprecedented step next time. The Italiano is solid, the Hotel California is boring, and for some reason they've taken the Frenchie off the menu despite it easily being their second best (and most consistently good) sandwich. The Green Monster salad is excellent, the coffee is good, the beer list is good, the interior design soothes my soul, and there's a patio. The only thing really holding back Lardon is quality control and execution. Go here and roll the dice on the Reuben or play it safe with the Italiano. Do me a favor and ask them why they took the Frenchie off the menu read more

This place was amazing. Best Reuben I've ever had. The staff was super friendly and knowledgeable.
