    Smoked duck hash

A cozy brunch spot within Logan Square. We reserved for an Easter get together and were very pleased by the food. Some dishes to order are the smoked duck hash (super good!), the chicken and waffles (well-balanced and crispy), and the smoked trout terrine (with lots of cool sides for pairing). Our server was very friendly and consistently checked on us as we enjoyed some seriously good eats. Will try again but this time to drink some of their premium whiskeys, the menu of which is about three times as long as the food offerings! If you want American classics with an artisanal twist, go here, and you won't be disappointed.

Nice atmosphere, friendly service, food was good. Not a huge fan of the dijonnaise. Overall a good spot, Diet Coke comes in cans.

I have been wanting to hit longman and eagle for ages as my love for chicago grows. An absolute institution, and for good reason. My friends and I, a group of 7, were able to walk in during a brunch rush on a saturday and still got sat immediately. The service was superb. Attention to detail, accommodations, everything was on point. Oh, and the food? Divine. Griddled sourdough is rich, buttery with some salted whipped butter and jam. The absolute star for me was the chicken fried steak. The caramelized onion jam gravy was insane. Slightly sweet, amazing texture, and still crazy rich. You also can't miss their breakfast sandwich with.... Wait for it..... bacon wrapped maple sausage!!!! You're probably thinking wtf is that. We were too, don't over think it. It is a delicacy and the type of stuff dreams are made of. The restaurant is beautiful and huge! Rustic, simple, homey. Just one of those spaces people from all walks of life feel at home. And, home it is!

Service was a little slow but they were packed so understandable!! Came in for brunch and had the PBR No PBR and he had the breakfast sandwich! We also got the latkes! I would skip the latkes and the peppered bacon next time! The tomato soup was really wonderful although a little chilly! Lively place with good vibes! Very friendly staff!

Menu for the night - The image shows a dinner menu from Longman & Eagle on a wooden table, with a can of Diet Coke, a glass with a straw, and some other drink containers. The menu lists multiple courses including appetizers, main dishes, and dessert options, with detailed descriptions of each dish. A knife and fork are placed on a white plate with some food remnants. The setting appears to be a casual dining environment with a rustic wooden table.

food = 8/10!!! drinks = a liiiitle strong for me and I'm not a huge whisky drinker so I settled for some wine :) service = also really good, and hospitable! was here for a team dinner and we were a laaarge party. got here around 6:30 but left closer to 10 because of how spaced out each meal was. it felt we were waiting a while but I heard that perhaps this is the vibe they were going for? anyway, I really enjoyed the food we were just all collectively getting a little hungry and antsy by the time the plates actually started to arrive. again, maybe its bc we were a large party. I'll have to try again next time!!

Go!! It's a small trek to Logan Square but that neighborhood has so many adorable gift shops, cafes, bookstores, well worth it (W)ow factor - heard this place used to have a Michelin star and the food was delicious! Service was fast and friendly. (A)ge - mostly families and groups (M)enu - They were so generous with the eggs and chorizo in the breakfast burrito. Quite literally stuffed!

Partial drink menu - A partial drink menu displays whiskey cocktails such as Hot Toddy, Improved Whiskey Cocktail, JB Highball, Brown Derby, and others, with ingredients and prices. The menu is printed on paper with a simple layout, likely from a bar or restaurant specializing in whiskey and cocktails.

Excellent experience here at Longman &Eagle. The drinks were amazing the whiskey selection is outstanding. The food is delicious. My favorite was the bone marrow dish. Sorry I forgot to take a picture of that. I highly recommend this restaurant

We came here for brunch (twice!) on a recent trip to Chicago. I initially had this on my list of places to try because they have an extensive whiskey list for my husband, but it turns out their food is amazing too. I ordered the Pears & Burrata and we shared a side of the latke hashbrowns with smoked apple butter. The pear and burrata was such a magical combination, I ordered it both times we went. As for the hashbrowns, I loved the new twist on an old favorite, but the apple butter was a little too smoky for my taste. I preferred them on their own or dipped in the pear/burrata sauce! The service was also really friendly and attentive both times. Highly recommend!

You can't go wrong with foie gras, or in this case duck liver mousse dollop in a sea of olive oil and blueberry compote with sweetened blueberries; absolutely heaven on earth. Spread that thing in the toasted focaccia also in olive oil and the perfect pairing is achieved. The bone marrow is a similar take even richer. You actually need the burrata and the peaches in between as a counter not to overwhelm your taste buds. All three dishes are excellent !!! The summer sausage was ok.

Good food, good service. The place is small and it was very crowded when we got there. It a nice place to go with friends.

From what I can remember, it is street parking only.

Can you get brunch menu during the week?

    Yes!

    Do you offer whiskey/bourbon flights?

Of course we do. We put together some amazing flights for our guests.

Nah, you can walk in! They have space at the bar so you could sit there if they can't seat you right away.

We started with a bunch of cocktails (I wish I remember the names.. but they were all so good!). Food to start, we ordered the Charcuterie, and the House Made Pretzel. We were obsessed with both! The charcuterie did not skimp out like some cheese/meat plates do.. it was a satisfying amount that we kept going back for more. The pretzel was outstanding, twisted and hot, perfectly soft and salty. To eat, I split the Gretel Griddle Burger and the Fried Chicken Sandwich with my friend because although we were there for the burger, I kept reading about the chicken sandwich being fantastic. Booyy they were not wrong!! As much as I loved the burger, the chicken sandwich was my favorite! Perfectly crispy, with this sweet and spicy glaze and the crunchy Asian pear slaw... OMG. I'm still dreaming about this! One thing we were excited about were the Elote Riblettes.. but I wouldn't order these again. I accidentally bit the whole thing and didn't realize they kept the core in, and I had to spit it out. And even after eating it properly it didn't feel like I got enough of it from those little bites. Loved the fries though! We didn't see a dessert menu but we would have definitely been interested in that. After all the drinks apps and the chicken sandwich I was feeling so full so I couldn't finish the burger so I got it wrapped to go. But let me tell you even when I reheated that burger the next day.. it was fantastic!! Overall we may have been the loudest and most obnoxious group (we get a bit excited haha) our waiter and the vibe were all matched! Genuinely loved this place, and looking forward to coming back soon.

Disclaimer that both times we sat at the bar. So this has nothing to do with servers at the tables. It just felt cold and not at the level I would expect for the prices and reputation. For example, we ordered the smoked trout caesar salad once at the recommendation of a friend, and didn't love it. It was very, very fishy. Like not just the smoked trout itself, the dressing also tasted way heavier on the anchovies or something than we're used to. And we love caesars! We didn't say anything about it because it's literally in the name that it may be fishy. The issue was that it was so obvious we only took one bite that the bartender commented on it when he was clearing our plates. "Too fishy?" We confirmed. And then he took the full plate of food away that he himself had just agreed with wasn't great, and returned with our bill that still charged us $20 for a salad. I mean, it's fine. But it's just an example of the kind of service you get there. We were barely checked on, even when drinks were empty. Even when making eye contact. Even when we were obviously done eating for several minutes and the bartenders were staring at our plates.Even after asking for a check and watching conversations happen leisurely behind the bar while we sat there. I know sitting at the bar is a different style of service, but it ventured more into inattentive than spacious. The space is cool. The food is fine. It just doesn't make up for feeling like a burden when I'm paying $100+ for lunch for two.
