After trying to find a laptop charger for my Dell laptop computer at a multitude of places with no luck and very little help, I stumbled upon this place and when I went in, Tyler and Brandon were very eager to help and were able to find a universal charging cable that they felt would work for me. They took the extra time to help me with this by testing the charger, making sure the adapter was correct, and even running diagnostics on my computer to double check that it was indeed charging. This computer repair shop is a SCAM! Please do not use them, after waiting almost 3 weeks I was quoted $1,200 dollars for a few repairs some of which I found out did not have to be done! After saying it was to expensive they said they would do it for $900? So why say $1200 in the first place! Still not happy with that I brought it to A-K tech in lakeside, my computer was diagnosed and fixed in 4 days! And the total bill....$300 out the door THIS SHOP TAKES ADVANTAGE OF PEOPLE WHO DO NOT KNOW ABOUT COMPUTERS THEY WILL SCAM YOU My computer needed a screen that's it!! They quoted me $1200 for tons of other work that I found out was not needed at all I highly recommend steering clear of this business and use a more honest business. Avoid. Bad Customer Service. Scam artistry. Bad business practices. Story: My friend...we'll call him Joe, took his Dell laptop in with a cracked screen. *1ST RED FLAG*---They charged $35 to open the screen to see if they had a used one that might fit. ...they didn't have one. But they "graciously offered" to push that charge onto ordering a new one for -$170-. (1st Note: I found one online for $80 shipped) It took almost a week to arrive. Ordered Saturday....took 10 days to receive the screen. He picked it up and brought it to me. (2nd Note: It took less than 5 minutes and 6 screws to remove the screen) Comparing the two screens, I immediately notice that it they ordered the WRONG screen. No tabs for the mounting points and different connector. "Take it back", I tell him. Upon his return, they tell him there's a restocking fee and and he will have to pay for shipping. WTH!!! They 'graciously' do not charge him a restocking fee for the WRONG PART ORDERED. They refunded -$145-. So, it cost him $25, a 1 1/2 weeks (or more, as we still have to order his new screen) without home internet access and an overall bad experience with a local business. To Laptops Plus: A customer should not have to pay for your incompetence in ordering the wrong part. I understand that as a business, you need to make money. I had to come in to have them check up my PC for some stuttering issues and had the pleasure of working with Gilbert. Diagnostics is completely free, and they they do a thorough job of checking your PC. I would highly recommend Laptops Plus to anyone with issues with their electronic devices. My printer didn't print after I tried to print from a secure website online. I tried to delete the file but the printer just kept saying 'deleting'. I tried again and again for days! I finally unplugged and disconnected the printer I went on a 4 day trip, when I returned I reconnected it and it still didn't print! Had pretty much the same experience as Jeff W. did about 6 months ago (maybe more). I just had a cracked screen that they swore would be ready in 4-7 days. Well 4 weeks and two new screens later, nothing happened. They kept telling me the motherboard was bad, and that's why the new screens wouldn't work. I told them that can't be right because when they put back on my old cracked screen, it worked (albeit with a crack). They couldn't answer that. Total fail of logic. I took it to a Computer science major I knew and had it fixed (they had bent a pin) in a hour (once we ordered the screen). Do not go here. Biggest headache ever. I went to this place for a broken motherboard on a Toshiba laptop. After an attempt at a different store who said they couldn't get the part, I found that Laptops Plus did in fact have the access to the motherboard. The only problem was that, after weeks of waiting and multiple attempts with different motherboards, they were unable to fix the problem. I wouldn't really blame the company on the fix because the computer might have been at fault for this issue. The reason I am giving it four stars is because despite not being able to fix my laptop, they were pretty cool guys and easy to talk to so I'll probably be going here first if I ever have another issue. They also got four stars because they were able to transfer all my data and information from the Toshiba to my new computer (that I had to get) so I am very happy about that. read more

I was in a panic with my laptop, as on two different occasions in the last week I was not able to get it to turn on. Before I took it in I had gotten it to turn on, but I was thinking maybe the power button would need to be replaced. Gilbert was terrific! There was a little piece of plastic stuck in the SD slot next to the power button, and he took that out. I don't know if that had anything to do with it, but so far, so good! He let me turn it on and off a dozen times before leaving the shop. I was able to walk away feeling confident that all is well, having spent zero dollars and only a few minutes of my time. In a nut shell, I have two different computers one is windows running the most current operating system my second computer is an iMac 27 inch desktop that is only eight months old I had issues with both computers I was able to call these guys have them look at them and fix them within a day! You just can't find that quick of service in most places. I highly recommend this place or anybody that has an issue with the computer. In both cases I paid slightly over $100 which I guarantee that would've cost me a lot more on my iMac if I had taken it to Apple. After finding this place on yelp, I went in and got a free diagnoses....turns out it was my motherboard. They were able to diagnose the problem, and retrieve all of my information and put it on an external hard drive the same day I brought it in, and all for only $50. Excellent service! Dropped my MacBook off last week because it was incredibly slow, Gilbert took it in and told me he'd run some tests and call me back. I asked him to text me bc I was going out of town, no problem. My hard drive had failed, he told me it would only take a few days to get a replacement and re upload the operating system. I was irritated bc I just replaced my hard drive in 2014 through bestbuy, turns out they replaced my hard drive with one from 2012. So just as crappy. Gave them my partially functional 4TB hard drive to extract data from. Before I gave it to them I was able to see all my files but not copy them over to another drive. After a day they told me they had to rip the case apart to take the drive out and that the case is no longer able to be put back together. They didn't inform me that they would have to do this, they just assumed I knew. ok. They didn't charge me because they couldn't recover the data. cool i thought. I plug my hard drive back into my computer, hoping to at least see what I saw before I gave it to them, and it was completely erased with a 1.8TB partition on it! WTF!!!! I don't often give props to companies, but I am totally impressed this time. My company ASUS G73S has been acting up. I had it back to ASUS during warranty, but the boot-up problem recurred. For whatever reason the video card was overheating...I think. I called ASUS, but since the computer was out of warranty they were not interested in prorating the repairs despite "fixing" the problem previously. I called the 3rd party entity contracted to repair ASUS computers and the only contact I could make was with non-English speaking staffers that couldn't answer my questions about cost repairs; I felt I needed a new graphics card. Not trusting the RMA contractor I then contacted LAPTOPS PLUS in Santee (in the same complex as Kenny of Santee MC Supply). They accepted the computer and I gave them the coupon I picked up from their website. After a few days, I was told that the computer was kaput; it needed a video card and possibly a hard-drive. When I originally went to pick it up a week after dropping it off (last Thursday) I was told they needed another hour and a half to put it back together. I gave them the whole weekend...I was bummed anyway and didn't want to deal with it. While looking at the receipt I signed, I realized that there was a line that indicated suggested costs. The line included various costs, from zero to $220 in a circle-the-cost format; circle "0" then the cost was zero, circle $150 then the cost was to be $150, circle nothing then the cost was maximally authorized was $220. No expected cost was circled on my receipt so I expected $220. I didn't like their format since I felt it was the material of a true Bait and Switch. Imagine my surprise when I picked up the computer, WHICH NOW WORKED (!) and was charged NOTHING. Rick, the man who worked on my computer, simply accepted my coupon for a free $35 Diagnostic. I expected a charge of $220 and was prepared to negotiate a reduced charge figuring $120 would be fair. In his defense, he did state that he didn't know why it was now working since it didn't work when he first disassembled/reassembled the computer to apply new thermal conductivity material to the CPU and GPU. Nevertheless, I thought (continue to think) his time has value. I'm astounded by this! When was the last time someone stood behind their work? I'm going to mail the company some money and I don't care how long the computer lasts after this temporary repair. Rick stood by the coupon, didn't Bait and Switch me and didn't balk when I chose to pick up the computer to send to ASUS' 3rd party vendor for a MUCH less expensive GPU; $120 vs. $399. That kind of honesty and customer care deserves mention...in spades! Rick at LAPTOPS PLUS (619 596 2141) earned my respect and an unexpected payment for his services! It all started with Microsoft sunsetting Windows 7. In an attempt to catch up on all the Windows 7 Updates, I started updating many times a day. I took my Vaio here to have the power jack replaced. They had a special for $170 (normally $199). I was told it'd take 5 business days to repair. Exactly 5 days later I was called and told it was ready for pickup. I paid, took my laptop, and left the store. That was the easiest repair I've ever had done. I got exactly what was promised and my laptop is back in working order. I'd definitely return ... but I hope I don't need any more repairs in the near future! read more

I brought my laptop in to have the keyboard replaced but when I returned home I noticed it was not the same type of keyboard I previously had where the backlight was able to be turned off. The new keyboard worked great but if it is unplugged and the backlight is on it runs the battery down very quickly. I called to explain and they said to bring it back in. When I did return, no one was in the front. I could hear talking in the back so I rang the bell located on the counter per the sign. No answer so I called out "hello". Still nothing. It sounded like the person in the back was on the phone so I patiently waited. After some time I could tell he was off the phone and now talking to a second person in the back. At this point I rang the bell again and called out "hello" even louder. No response. I waited over fifteen minutes with two employees right in the back in earshot. The bell on the front door rang when I entered the building, I pressed the bell on the counter twice per the sign, called out twice and was ignored. ? read more

Best place to bring your laptop! I highly recommend laptop plus. Many viruses and malware has corrupted my laptop. With several people working on it, I had missed drivers and more junk installed automatically. My computer needed a wipe out and needed updates. I barely used my HP in 4 years and I took it in for only $89 with coupon and for 3 days it was done! I can now use my CD player and finally put the music I have always wanted to on my phone! BEWARE: I am not one to post feedback or reviews, especially bad ones, but I cannot let another poor customer go through this cycle of BS. I simply cannot fathom how these guys are still in business. I ordered a laptop charger for $70 dollars and it said 24 hour shipping. After placing my order with Laptop Plus, I almost immediately received an email saying they were out of stock on this product (I can understand this and this was no dramas) and they would follow up on the ETA and get back to me on product arrival shortly. I had to follow up on the ETA with a member of staff at Laptop plus after a few days of receiving that email (it was Monday and I ordered on the previous Thursday) and the response back was a blasé "Wednesday or Thursday". I thought okay no dramas. I waited Wednesday, Thursday and Until the end of Friday and then I called. The same staff member who responded to my email answered and I told him what was going on and that I went onto the online tracking app but it said there were no conscription for me, and I was going home for two weeks and my assignments were piling up and that I needed that charger within the week and if they couldn't do it I needed my refund. He went on to explain how there was nothing sent because they're out of stock of that product and then proceeded to say that the owner was away and that I'd get my refund on Monday (next week). I waited for Monday end of day. Nothing. I called just before they closed. I enquired and the same staff member answered again and told me that the owner was arriving Tuesday and at the latest I'd receive my refund tomorrow afternoon. I said I'd call tomorrow and follow up AGAIN. That was the end of that. I called Tuesday morning to voice my frustrations in a calm and diplomatic but firm way and the bloke on the other end is BLAMING ME! at this point I'm so mad because I have received no customer service whatsoever, no idea on what is going on and the best part is, I have neither received my package that I have ordered nor my refund and it's been almost four weeks. I would STRONGLY suggest, if not URGE all potential customers to steer clear of this company. They are so unprofessional, above all LIARS, no customer service skills or people skills and I did not receive ONE apology for their mistakes. I have still NOT received my refund and will not and would not ever shop with these disgraceful bunch of liars EVER again. MOST UNIMPRESSED. My Dell laptop was the victim of a trojan. This attack occurred on a Sunday night, and I took it in to Laptops Plus on Monday morning. They immediately knew the problem and told me that it would take a couple days to fix. I agreed to pay extra for their express service, and by Monday afternoon, they called me with a diagnosis and ETA. I had about 90 viruses on my laptop, and some were difficult to remove, so it took a little longer to clean than initially thought, but I still got my laptop back by Friday morning. Because of the delay, they waived the fee for the express service. Nacho was the main technician servicing my laptop. He seemed very knowledgeable and was very good about keeping me apprised about the status of my laptop throughout the week. Even after I received my laptop back and their services were technically completed, Nacho still graciously assisted me (gratis) when I called or went back to the office for questions about this or that with my laptop. I will be referring as much business as I can to Laptops Plus, and I highly recommend Laptops Plus for your computer repair needs!!!! read more

UPDATE: After contacting Laptops Plus and explained my dissatisfation the manager kindly refuned 1/2 of the $85 expedite charge, I feel this is a fair solution. Warning: do not take your computer here for repair. Paid an expedite fee of $85 for same day service, had to call them the next day for update, said he had to check one more thing, I believe he had not even looked at it yet, called me back in 5 minutes and tells me the hard drive is fried and tripled the estimated cost. My rip off radar engaged so I took the pc to another shop who confirmed a registry error and fixed it for a fraction of the cost and the hard drive tested perfect with no errors. We had a power outage and my Son's Computer Power supply went out. My Son is a Senior in High School and his senior project was due, if he didn't turn in this project on time, he would not graduate. Well, he told us the night before it was due that his project was on his computer and we couldn't get it off the computer. We called Laptops Plus and they were closing in an hour and a half. I took my tablet to these guys because the charging port was bad after having it for 5+ years without an issue. They charged me $119 to replace the part and I had it back in a week. I was ecstatic..I thought this is great... In less than 90 days the port was bad again and my tablet wouldnt even turn on..I took it back in they said they would replace the part, check to see if it was still under warranty and tell me I shouldnt have to pay for it they would work a discount... They call me within a week to tell me its done and I go to pick it up and they tell me its $96!!!! I told them it wasnt right to charge me for the part and more labor on top of the $119 I already paid...the guy could care less I was upset, didnt want to hear anything I had to say..when I asked who the part supplier was he said he didnt know the name of the supplier...WHAT? I asked him about the discount they were going to give me....he totally ignored me....they gave me a faulty part, charge me, the faulty part lasts less than 90 days, they replace it and charge me again!!! I would not hesitate to recommend Laptops Plus to anyone needing service. We took my son's laptop in with a cracked screen (he's 15 and the laptop was well used!). The repairs were done within the time frame promised, and the cost was as quoted. We picked up the laptop, took it home, and it would not turn on. Called and Rick said to bring the laptop right back... turned out to be the power connection. They ordered a new power connection, got it in and the computer still didn't work, and they decided it was the screen again. Once it was determined that it wasn't the new screen, they thought it might be the mother board. Since we didn't pay an exorbitant amount for the laptop, and had already put more $$ into it, we pulled the plug and decided not to invest any more into this laptop. When we went to pick up the laptop, we were charged only $35.00 for diagnostics... what a surprise! I was expecting the costs to be MUCH higher. With all the time they spent trying to solve the problem and all the pieces they tried, I really expected the cost to be higher. They kept us informed each step of the way, and I was very pleased with their service and their customer relations.
