Just one important note when coming to Lapop-- get the drink with the flower in it (photo attached)!! It has mezcal in it but couldn't tell you what it was called because I didn't order it lol. It was delicious and strong. They say this place is a bar/coffee shop. It's located in Adams Morgan on the bottom floor of Lapis. It's a cozy spot with lots of space. We walked right up to the bar on a Thursday night. We did order their small samosa like dish and whatever sauce came with it was so so good. It gives me hope that the other dishes are probably delicious too. I'll check it out the next time I come. Our server, Brett ( I think) was very friendly and attentive. Thank you! The only downfall in my opinion for this place is that parking can be pretty tough in this area.

I've been hearing the rave about Lapis and Lapop for some time now and was so excited to check it out. We came here for dessert and drinks after dinner and were pleasantly surprised with the moody atmosphere. We were seated an ordered drinks from their menu. Great to note you are able to order anything on their Lapis menu while at Lapop - there is simply a curtain that separates you from the restaurant! To eat, I tried the Phirnee, a delicious sweet pudding made with ground rice and topped with nuts. Being very familiar with the Indian version of this dessert, I was pleasantly surprised at how tasty it was. Smooth texture, nutty, and perfectly sweet! Highly recommend checking out Lapop! Cannot wait to come back and try more menu items.

La Pop is in the former Sweet Science Coffee location in Adams Morgan. This basement bar / restaurant has warm energy, great music on vinyl, and creative drinks. 10/10 service.

Along Columbia Road NW in Columbia Heights is a basement bar with vibes. With a two bars and several rooms with tables, vinyl records and books decorate the shelves. My friend and I grabbed two seats at the bar easily on a Wednesday evening around 8 pm. Then bartender was attentive yet chill. The menu is fascinating with a wide range of cocktails, beer, and wine. It's unique but you'll notice the focus on flavors like vanilla and cardamom in many drinks. Enjoying more sweet and sour drinks, the bartender recommended the Buz-Kishi Sour and the Babur Gardens. I ordered both and found both unexpected, unique, and refreshing. My friend enjoying stiff and bitter drinks, he didn't love the Herati Western or the Qabooli Old Fashion. Both seemed unbalanced and a little off with the latter being too sweet. Five stars for everything else from service to space.

The review I am offering today is solely for the lounge/underground bar and music venue portion of the restaurant. With that said, I have to offer a disfavorable review as I was there to see a show that was set to start at 9:00 p.m. However, it did not begin until approximately 10:30 p.m. There are many points at which I considered leaving; something I would have done, if the tickets did not cost a significant amount of cash, as do the drinks as well. Likewise, as I don't live close to the venue I felt as if I could not justify the trip unless I stayed around to witness the performance. The performance was okay but not spectacular. Likewise I found the venue quite confusing in that it was neither a music venue nor a nightclub. It was too loud to actually carry on with a conversation and hang out, but likewise, it was not a nightclub in which dancing and fashionably reckless alcoholism could ensue. While decent in taste and execution, I would also say the drinks do not carry the level of value one would expect given their price tag. I will say, however, that the service is exceptional. Lots of attentive staff and I found the hosts and waitstaff to be very friendly.

Hands down best restaurant in DC!! The drinks were delicious and the food was even more so. Will be visiting Lapis next time to get the full experience. Beautiful ambiance and service was solid!

The only reason I'm adding the second star is for the quality of the drink. However, the service was horrendous. Your female bartender had a horrible attitude, and we were so insanely excited to check out the vibe of this place. However, despite planning to be here for over two hours until our reservation at Lapis, we ended up leaving after only one hour. We saw a new bartender after our dinner, so we planned to try and get another drink. However, despite being open for another 30 minutes, they said they wouldn't serve us. We exited back out Lapis and were told by a server that they just choose when they're going to close early. So disappointed, and frankly, I'm fighting to not just stick with the one star review honestly.

I came here for a friend's DJ set and was instantly wowed by the ambiance. The space is trendy, yet warm and inviting. I am hoping I can update this review upon another visit, but I have to say that frankly the bar service was subpar. The bartenders themselves were very generous, but they seemed confused about tabs and it took me a very long time to close out as they had their hands full between taking and fulfilling new orders. Maybe just a growing pain; I know this is a newer spot overall. I will look forward to Lapop again soon!

I had heard great things about La Pop and it did not disappoint when I finally visited. The atmosphere is cozy but elegant and the cocktails are fantastic. The service was friendly and attentive and of course the food ordered from the Lapis menu was delicious.

Went last night for Valentine's dinner. Was a little skeptical given I couldn't find any other recent reviews. Absolute hidden gem. Great drinks and you can order food from Lapis, very flavorful delicious food. Will be back!

What a quaint cafe. I had never been here before and it's such a vibe. The decor was nice and it's a great place to read, study, or just meet up with friends to chat. I got a hot tea and lamb patties which were very delicious. Can't wait to come back and try out more items on the menu. It wasn't loud at all, aside from a few laughable customers.

I am so glad that I found this place! I love the restaurant Lapis and I have been a number of times. I had no idea they had such a cool space to hang out in downstairs called La Pop!! It reminds me of a boho chic lounge space that serves up coffee, tea, pastries, etc. However, if you are hungry you can order food from the restaurant Lapis (upstairs) and they will just bring it downstairs to you. There are lounge chairs, multiple couches, a bar and tables so there are plenty of places to sit. But it does get packed depending on the time of day. Also, they have a DJ on certain nights!! How cool is that!!! It's super chill and low key. Great place to meet up with friends!

Such a low key coffee shop (good coffee too). Love it, it's located on the basement of the restaurant. It has very comfy seating, many tables to study and books to read on. They play classical music with I think is perfect and soothing when I really need to focus. On the basement you will find both the bar area and coffee station. It is sometimes booked for private events at certain hours they don't really say anything in advance just start kicking everybody out lol but nevertheless a great spot!

Tucked into the heart of Dupont Circle with its unmistakable bright blue awning, the restaurant is intimate, moody, and always buzzing. Inside, you'll find dim lighting, a handful of cozy wooden bar booths, seats along the bar, and a few outdoor tables. It's not a huge space, which only adds to its charm and makes every reservation feel like a win. The atmosphere is perfect for sharing dishes and lingering over dinner with friends. The food was incredible...I genuinely loved every single bite. Just be prepared: the Sichuan spice is no joke! If you aren't expecting it, it'll definitely sneak up on you (in the best way). My must-orders? The chili wontons, Dan Dan noodles, and beef noodles. Every dish was packed with bold flavor and left me wanting to come back for more. If you've been trying to score a reservation, keep at it. Astoria is one of those places that's absolutely deserving of its reputation, and I'll be thinking about those noodles until my next visit.

Inside had small tables and a kinda casual cocktail bar vibe Beef Noodles - the highlight and actually very good! The noodles are long and handmade and chewy. They hold onto the sauce very well! The sauce has a slight kick and is very savory. The beef is soft and also flavorful! I feel the price for the portion is kinda expensive though 8/10 Chili wontons - skin is silky and soft, sauce is savory with a small kick as well! Even though the sauces look similar to beef noodle they taste very different. The fillings had good flavor and overall were good but were a bit tougher and dryer than I would prefer. 6/10 Crab fried rice - crab is slightly overcooked but naturally sweet. It has a light curry taste throughout and was pretty good but didn't really stand out 5.5/10 Mapo tofu - slight kick and nice savory taste in the sauce! However I think they cut the tofu pieces way too large or the tofu they chose had way too much tofu flavor that overpowers the sauce. I'd prefer a very light silky tofu but this was a soft tofu. 6/10 Vpod - at first it just tasted like orange juice but then the other flavors peek through on the after taste and when I mixed it more. Even though it was good, it still felt very basic 5/10 Philadelphia Scotsman - it's pretty ginger forward. Technically the level of ginger spice is fine but strong but then the rest of the drink got completely overpowered and so this just wasn't that great 2.5/10

For context, my last visit to DC in my teens, I was looking to view DC, in a new light, as an adult. Entering Jane Jane somehow felt like home. The intimate, inclusive, dimly lit bar, decorated to feel both modern and vintage reminded me of my favorite spot in Houston, Nobies. While Nobies offers great food, Jane Jane kills it with their cocktails...and the complimentary bowl of cheese its...perfect bar food I guess? Their legend's menu is just that. Although I came in anticipating ordering one drink, that one turned into two after trying the "A La Playa". I'm not sure I'd sip it on the beach, but the sweet, slightly Smokey, fruity concoctions now lives on my list of favorites drinks. It has the perfect balance of flavors.
