High prices for mediocre food. Food is all really pricey and it's nothing special from what you'd get anywhere else. Save your money and go anywhere else. Think I'd only come here is for their Vege Crispy Rolls on their apps and for the mango sick rice with shaved ice for desserts. I wouldn't come here otherwise. Crispy rolls were great! Great texture and flavor. Mango sticky rice with shaved ice was great but you're mainly paying for the shaved ice as there's barely any sliced mango or sticky rice. Staff were mostly nice except for a few exceptions. No less than 5 different staff tried to take our bill which we hadn't touched yet, trying to get us out their empty doors. Second multiple people tried to take our food when we were still working on it. read more

Amazing!!! I stopped by the place with a group of friends on Friday night. The place was pack but it took less than 5 mins to get the table. I had crying tiger beef--no word to describe how delish it was!!! My friends order garden fish ---served with few small sides. The portion is HUGE!! We also had the hot pot which I forgot the name, Love it!! Excellent food, great service. I actually come back to order crying tiger steak for take out now lol!!! read more

The cripsy rice salad is one of a kind and delicious! Parking is not great around here but worth the trouble for this dish.

Beautiful presentation, thematically Laotian food with pretty slow service. I have to say that thank god im half Laotian because I knew exactly what to order. If I wasn't, I'd be scared because the server had no insight to offer about the menu, no specials, no "I realize Laotian food is extremely rare and most people aren't familiar with it, let me guide you through the menu and make some recommendations" It was at least 14 minutes before we were greeted/had our order taken and there were other tables right there with us who waited less or even longer. We couldn't tell who was a busser or server. Just really disorganized and quite possibly a lack of team communication on their end. We ordered everything I know, and I know about how it should taste. I would say it's pretty authentic. Nam khao- coconut rice ball fried, then broken into fried rice mixture with scallions, cured pork sausage and pork skin. Extra spicy and delicious! Bamboo salad- 9$ not as finely shaved as my grandma did hers, but the flavor was spot on and of course spicy as all hell. Papaya salad- 20$ yummy, fermented goodness, I was just thrown off by all the actual crab shells they left in the papaya because I kept almost cutting myself with those sharp shells. Khaw khai- 21$ chow fun (wide flat rice noodles) sautéed with egg and chicken, similar to pad Thai. Pretty good. Our server didn't want to offer us dessert so we had to just ask for it when she presented the bill. Our bill ended up being 135$ after everything, which is steep for 3rd world country food. So something to think about when deciding to dine here. I'd introduce friends to a cheaper more authentic spot ( I have yet to find one) before committing to this restaurant. I realize that this was the financial district so rent is insane which is why everything was so expensive, but the service was like going to mom and pop restaurant and grandpa (who has never served) is serving you. Clearly, this is run by a corporate/restaurant group so I'm just surprised to see such spotty service. There was no clear manager in sight just a bunch of unaware kids. Price does not reflect the service, the actual ingredients are not that expensive, just labor intensive. You're paying for the location. Food -4/5 Service-2/5 Ambiance-3/5 Overall 3.5, I don't need to come back. read more

I did not know this place was reopened by Osha Thai. This explains a lot, from taste to prices lol. Made a reservation through Yelp and it went smoothly. I arrived 10 mins early and they sat us down. They have happy hour from 5-7 at the bar only. You can't take away from the bar which is just annoying. $1 oysters is what people went for. Service was ok. The waiter came to ask if I was ready to order but I said we were waiting for one more. Once I was ready, I told one of the waiters. He said ok, looked at me for a second, then walked away and never came back. Started serving other tables and even took the order of the table behind us. Like hello? After that, service (of another waiter) was much better. Waters were refilled and needs were met. Here's the thoughts on food: ~Duck Wings - I felt it was a bit tough. There was 4 on the dish. There was some sauce at the bottom which made the wing taste better. Otherwise it's just fried wings. Couldn't really taste duck. ~Chicken Satay - 6 skewers in 1 order. Chicken was a bit dry but the peanut sauce made it all better. ~Grilled Calamari - this was something new. I liked the grilled part of the calamari. It's also soft not chewy which is how I like it. The sauce is pretty spicy tho just FYI. ++Totally Prawns - MY FAAAAAAVORRRRITEEEEE. Sweet pineapple red curry yum yum yum. This is exactly how I remember the Prawns Pineapple at Osha Thai. It's so good. It's a mild spicy too. The prawns are also huge on this dish. I felt like this place made it better than Osha themselves. ++Garlic Pepper Pork - Another favorite of mine. The pork was marinated well and tasted delicious. I would order this again. +Pineapple Fried Rice - Not much to expect from a pineapple fried rice. Pretty standard stuff. I usually order it cuz pineapples. +Lao Fried Rice - I love the fact that this dish comes with 3 chicken wings. It is VERY MILD spicy. Not too big of a fan of the chopped up green beans but meh. It's a good deal tho. -Mok Seabass - This dish was weird. Like the herbs on top was spicy and I wasn't sure what I was eating. Seabass was a dry too. I didn't really like it and I would not recommend it. -Pad mee Prawns - wasn't a memorable dish and I had it just last night. If I remember correctly, it was a bit bland. read more

Went there with 3 coworkers today! Services are good, just super crowded during a weekday for lunch! Recommendations: 1) Make reservation 2) Pho is ok - still found the Vietnamese one as the best type (sorry Laos) 3) Food layout is fancy - very southeastern stylish Probably cuz I have been to a lot of southeastern restaurants, I found the taste of Lao Table as okay. read more

Great Ambience, Good food but pricey, very slow service !

I was in a 20 people party and I had some left over coke that was on the table that I brought with me from earlier. One of the waiters just took my coke and said I couldn't have it there. Didn't even ask if I wanted to finish it or politely inform me that I had to put it away or they were going to take it. And then proceeded to ask me if I wanted to order a drink.... Like i wasn't already waiting for my drink orders. Very unprofessional, especially since she was the manager. read more

I've been here several times just because it is so close to work. Lao Table is definitely bustling at all times -- even if it's dinnertime in FiDI -- so it always helps to have a reservation, and Yelp Reservations makes that pretty easy. Food-wise, Lao Table is also priced slightly higher than typical Asian restaurant offerings (i.e. pho is ~$20 here), but their portion sizes are also huge. I try to get a different thing each time I've been here, and I really liked the Chicken Curry pot pie (even though it's not Laotian, I love pot pie and rarely have it--and this one is HUGE) and Ka-Pow Lamb Chops (yummy, cooked really well to a perfect done-ness) I'd say service is generally good here but the kitchen may become backlogged during the lunch rush, so it helps to be able to make a quick decision if you are unsure of what you want. read more

I came here for lunch today and instantly saw how packed it was (there was even a small line). I walked up to the hostess and ask for a table of 2, but I was notified that I couldn't be seated until my friend arrived (fine, whatevs). A couple minutes later a huge party of 7 and then a party of 6 came strolling in, and I could tell the hostess was feeling stressed about seating space. A minute or so later, a woman walked in asking how long the wait would be for a party of 2 and the hostess said that unless she had a reservation, Lao Table will not be taking any more walk-ins for the day (...can she do that?). I started to worry if I was even allowed to eat here at this point, because (like the woman) I was also a party of 2 and had no reservation - the only difference was that I walked in 5 minutes earlier than she did. My friend arrived shortly after and I tapped the hostess that we're ready. I could tell she was hesitant about seating us (really lady? With the reservation crap?), but she begrudgingly led us to the bar with two open stools. Space was cramped - I pretty much sat there with my arms at my sides like a sardine. Food was expensive - most dishes were about $15 but the portions weren't $15 worthy (or even drool worthy). I ordered the spicy eggplant with tofu and it had 0 spice (and minimal flavor). Not impressed. Overall, it's a pretty lunch spot with some noteworthy decor/ambiance, but unless you're trying to impress a date, I wouldn't bother coming here read more

Fusion food, $1 oyster happy hour. Yay. Chilean sea bass with sticky rice water was my absolute fav -- however they Wrongly bill customers and don't correct their errors. They wasted our time as they kept knocking us down the waiting list for over 90 min since I walked in. /75 mins since our whole party had arrived. Explain that please. 75 minutes! for walk in with plenty of open reservations available on Ressie and yelp. However the bad slow service for charging food and drinks placed during happy hour but inputting it into the machine AFTER happy hour ended is super SHADY. Their slow service costs us full price and there's "nothing she can do about it". their slow input of our order into the system even though we ordered a full ten mins before the hour. and not to mention the unnecessary denying us seating us for 1.5 hours so we'd keep ordering drinks at the bar. Checked in at 6:30 for happy hour. Rest of the crew sat down at the bar at 6:45 for happy hour. I Told the hostess we're ready for our table at 7 when happy hour ended. Closed out $200 tab. We had to linger and watched others get seated who walked in with no reservation. We ended up ordering more drinks. We Didn't get seated until 8PM That's one and half hours of waiting for a table and they told us to use our time wisely and dine at the bar counter. I come to a restaurant with 5 of my friends not to eat bar food appetizers and get overcharged during " happy hour" The bar tab cost more than our full meal for 6 and that's considerable $300 dinner. Noodles 22$A little outrageous overhype for poor service. Overall Service -lrip-off and slow Value- overpriced and wrongly overcharged. Food-hit or miss. One spicy chili hidden in the salad burnt my tongue and throat and they didn't even bother to refill any water since gratuity was already included in our bill for party of 6 read more

Great food, reasonably priced, good and fast service. A little bit noisy to my taste but overall comfortable and recommended

Came on a Monday night with my friend and we both got the khaw kai noodle. Service 5/5 Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by the pretty hostess and was seated right away. Waitress super attentive the whole duration of the meal and came back frequently to check on us. Lots of smiles :D Price 3/5 Service fee was embedded in the receipt even though we only had a party of 2. Ended up paying for $19 before tip for each Khaw kai. NOT WORTH. Khaw Kai 3.5/5 Fab presentation. The taste of this dish mimics pad Thai but was not all the way there. For a simple noodle dish made with chicken, bean sprout, crushed peanuts and flat noodles, the price of $19 does not justify it at all Overall, I will only come back here if I'm treating someone out and if they really want Thai food. Otherwise, nahhhhhh read more

Stopped by for dinner on a Wednesday night. The restaurant ambience is nice, with a dining area and separate bar area with a few TVs that were playing sports games. We were seated immediately and the server came over often to check on us. We started out with drinks: the Lao Soda and Rye Manhattan were both really good (and decently strong) and the fresh coconut was a unique menu item. The food selection was extensive and we had the Spicy Eggplant, Kurobuta Pork Belly, Pad Mee Prawn Noodles, and the Khao Nar Ped Honey Roasted Duck. The food arrived relatively quickly. Each dish was very flavorful and portion sizes were pretty large. I had a great overall experience and would definitely come back. read more

I have never tried Laotian food before, so I was thrilled to have a work lunch at Lao Table in the FiDi with my colleague! I've tried Thai, Burmese; and Cambodian food before so I was very curious what Laotian food would taste like. My overall impression from Lao Table was that Laotian food was sweeter and of a chewier / rice-ier texture than Thai food. Lao Table has contemporary decor, and servers are attentive, and the tables are close together. I tried the Spring Rolls, Khaw Kai Noodles, and the Thai Iced Tea. Delicious! My only reservation was that the Thai Iced Tea was made of crushed ice, I prefer it on the rocks. If you are looking for an alternative to SE Asian food and want to try something different, I highly recommend Lao Table and hope to be back again someday. read more

Super delicious and great vibe. The lamb curry is out of this world. Staff is great. Feels busy and popular. Loved it.

Missed our reservation, but was able to get seated relatively quickly. Food: overall quality was great. Some of the dishes were underwhelming or overpriced. Khao mun gai was essentially a Hainese chicken dish. Khao Poon crab curry was delicious, but there was literally a very small bunch of rice noodles, very little crab meat and the rest was just a giant plate of vegetables. Will definitely be hungry if this is all you're having. I initially thought the mango sticky rice was just going to be mango and sticky rice, but it also came with a huge side of shaved ice. The sticky rice with coconut sauce was on point. Also ordered the Thai tea jumbo icy before we realized how giant the mango sticky rice was. Jumbo icy was not worth it. Besides the fruit on top, it was just a giant bowl of shaved ice with Thai tea poured over it. Fruit to ice ratio was very uneven. Probably not worth the $20. read more

Truly delicious. We loved the Crying Tiger dish. Drinks were wonderful, even the mocktails.

Maybe this review is irrelevant for non-pork eaters but if you are a porkavore like me, this place is oinktastic. I was leery that this was going to be just a made over Osha Thai with Laotian food, but it is waaaaay more. For the price , this place has was way better atmosphere and service than any peer restaurant and that's not even getting to the best part, the food. Their pork knuckle and pork belly are hands down the best pork I've had in SF (they use the same sauce, the knuckle is bigger and has tasty skin, but I prefer the more delicate belly). The basil chicken was juicy and fragrant and rice noodles are flavorful but delicate at the same time. The spring rolls are crisp, not greasy and packed with tastiness. And of course, that mango sticky rice is as good as I've had anywhere and the accompanying massive mango shave ice will stuff you silly. Portion sizes are more than generous and unless you want to be rolled out of the restaurant, best to box some for home. Not the cheapest southeast Asian food you can get at ~$35 pp after T&T (no booze). But it blows overrated places like Kin Khao out of the water. OINK. read more

I went with a friend the week before the stay-at-home order and lucky for us (not so much for the restaurant) it was quite empty at a time when my friend said it's usually packed for lunch. And now I know why: everything was great! First off, I ordered a Thai tea but because they weren't very busy they were kind enough to give us one free for my friend as well. Also starting off, for an appetizer, we ordered the moo nam pla that was perfectly hot and stayed nice, warm, and crisp even when we had it packed up to take home. For the entree, I personally ordered the garlic pepper pork and I think my friend got the basil chicken. While the dishes are a bit on the pricier side, we were greeted with larger-than-expected bowls of food, each with a perfectly fried egg on it, and definitely worth the price. The food had a great amount of flavor, and for being chicken and pork dishes they were both well-cooked and not dry at all. I hope they're doing well during the pandemic, but when I go back to SF this place is definitely a place I will keep in mind to go back to! read more

Food was ok. Usually we'd have team lunch here and the restaurant was pretty busy during that time. Went there with a friend on a Friday night and really wanted to catch up, and this is the first time I realized how bad the service was. I was really excited to be eating at this place considering that my boyfriend is from Lao. The food was delicious but the service was not as great. I asked for a lot of soy sauce and was only given two packets for a table of 4. When I asked for more I was given attitude by the waitress. As I was about to pay my bill I noticed that the card reader stated that all of the tip went directly to staff. I payed with my credit card and figured I would leave cash for tip. After I payed and signed the bill the waitress questioned me rudely on why I hadn't left her a tip. I told her I was leaving cash but she walked away and cut me off. It's so cute inside and I think that's the best part. Right out of the gate, service wasn't what it should have been. We had a small wait with a reservation and the hostess minorly scolded one person in our party about their umbrella and the bagging thing they have. Once we're sat, we continue to sit for between 5-10 minutes without menus and no server comes over or greets us. I get up to ask for menus from the hostess who was maybe too worried about the umbrella being wrapped up than about serving her main function of getting a reservation sat on time, giving them menus, or assigning them a server. When our server did eventually come to the table, we were surprisingly met with a lot of. 'Nos'. + Can I get an iced tea? No. + Can I get the basil leaves dish with shrimp instead of chicken? No. Ok you don't have iced tea- can you tell us what beverages you do have because we didn't get a beverage menu and/or you don't list your non-alcoholic drinks on your menu. You have shrimp, you have shrimp dishes- why can't you use chicken instead of shrimp? Server's answer: 'Fine 5 more dollars'. Me: It sounds like you just made that price up, but fine. It's a work lunch anyway. That $5 made it a now $22 lunch dish that was the least flavorful of its kind I've ever had. It was dry and lacked the spice I was expecting. I wanted to ask the server if I could get extra of the gravy that was so minimally used in the dish but of course he never came back. Also, the smallest portion of this dish I've been served anywhere for the highest price. For a nice atmosphere work lunch in SoMa with very average food an sub-par service, I guess it'll do, but I'm not aching to go back to a place with just ok food, that doesn't accommodate its customers (but will scold them), and service that is borderline absent. read more

Lao Table has great food and a nice ambiance. It's a rather unassuming restaurant from outside, but it delivered a punch. The only nitpick on the interior is that the tables are almost on top of one another, so prepare to get cozy. Popped in here while visiting San Francisco for work. Our team swooped in for lunch one day, and it appears to be a super popular place. I can see why. The space itself, even though everyone seems to be sitting on top of one another, is huge, and broken up well. I was able to have a conversation with the folks closest to me at the table without having to scream. One detractor was that the service was just OK. Our server was super friendly and helpful, but also was gone for long periods of time. Others in my group needed refills, wanted to try a specialty drink, which made me be eagle-eyed looking for our server. It took more than five minutes to find him. I should have just asked a manager for assistance, but, alas, hindsight is 20/20. Here's the weird thing about being a larger fella: portions. It was perfect for everyone else in my group, but I could have done with a little more. But that's also me being an anomaly. Though if you visit while super hungry, may be good to order some appetizers. One thing that sure wasn't lacking was the flavor. I got some sort of BBQ dish, and wanted a bottle of that sauce to take home. Plus they give all sorts of toppings to apply, evening including some spices. read more

Came here for lunch with a girlfriend. We got in a shared table for 4 around noon without a reservation. The restaurant itself was pretty. Menu had lots of choices. I was in the mood for beef because I had recently had shrimp curry. I asked our waiter what beef dish he suggested and he told me the steak which was a bit pricey or the beef wrap dish. I ordered a lemonade (which was really delicious) it was sort of a lemonade mixed with sparkling water, a spritzer if you will. The beef wraps came out and had a lovely presentation. However, the flavor was just not there. It tasted like someone just threw plain crumbled beef pieces into a bowl with onions and hot chili's. I asked for dipping sauce and they handed me a 4 pot side of hot sauces. Overall, very underwhelmed with this restaurant. My girlfriend ordered a shrimp curry dish and also agreed it was a 2.5 or 3 star at best. We won't be back. Also, way more expensive than I expected. It ended up being $25 a person. I could find MUCH better lunch options in the area for that price. read more
