Braised Beef Noodle Soup
Alex J.

We came on a Thursday night at 8pm, table for two, no reservation, was able to get seated quickly. I got the braised beef noodle soup. Just the right amount of spicy. I liked how I could customize the noodle type, for example I got flat. Not pictured is the pork belly noodles and the chicken skewers. Both were really great too and would recommend them as well.

This location's in the lobby of the Amazon Seaport building. They have a great lunch special ($21) of a Noodle entree + 1 hot side + 1 cold side. We ordered everything to-go. The Beef Rib noodles were really good - I love how they cut the rib into bite sized chunks in the to-go so you're not struggling with the rib. The noodles were fresh (though there were all stuck together, so sad) and the seasoning was spicy and flavorful. The fried mushrooms and spicy cold bean curd were also good. They took a while to prepare the noodles but it was lunchtime & a big order. Everything was packaged carefully - I love the high quality bags. There is a good amount of seating indoor but not enough for our group of 6+ people, hence why we got take out.

Lanner is located next to Google in the Seaport District. The restrooms are located outside the restaurant and are shared with the neighboring restaurants. The restaurant itself is immaculate, and the servers are friendly and attentive. For my personal taste, the noodles were a bit too al dente, and the broth was on the salty side. That said, I would be willing to give Lanner another try because the portion size of the noodle dish was generous, and the food was served hot and fresh.

Nice new location in seaport! The space is clean and well lit and decor was appealing. They have bar counter seats, booth backed tables, and chair tables. Tables aren't huge, you can sort of seat 3 to a table on the booth back style ones. Servers were nice. Food came out fairly quickly. They did take quite a minute to take away our empty dishes but eventually did. The gentlemen who dropped off the entrees, did so and looked at the empty dishes and left them. beef rib chili oil noodles (x2 orders) - I chose this overall i enjoyed it, has a spice note that builds as you eat, but not overpowering. The beef itself was texturally a bit tougher than I expected, but maybe that was my bowl. It was still enjoyable. And the noodle texture was nice. Had a bouncy chew. My bowl of noodles did have the noodles clump up in blocks though. -lamb shank noodle soup- the broth just tasted like salty hot pot broth base, a bit too salty for us. -soup dumplings (x2 orders) the wrap held the soup inside well and didn't rip. The presentation is pretty. I think the typical steamer box with the dumplings inside would suffice, the individual containers for each dumpling wasn't needed just for ease of grabbing them out i mean. The soup inside and the filling didn't have that burst of flavor when tearing into them. -golden chicken nuggets- crispy fried chicken bites, like street food. I personally enjoyed these and they had a fiery kick. Drinks: -yuzu sparkling juice -white peach sparking juice Both of these bottled drinks were bangers! Enjoyed them. Plum juice - was light and as expected! The fermented osmanthus is an acquired taste for me. Not something I'd personally order again. NIce location, nice vibe. Will try the Cambridge location next and see how they prepare their dishes comparably.

This spot has such cute vibes! I was a huge fan of the decor inside, it reminds so much of Silverlake Ramen in california, with its pristine design and modern look. The space is calming and rejuvenating as you sit down to a warming bowl of noodles. Not to mention the staff is incredibly kind and welcoming from the moment you enter. As for the food, their menu offers an impressive variety of noodle dishes, soups, appetizers, drinks, and desserts that all come together to form a cohesive dining experience. My personal recommendations are their beef rib noodles and lamb skewers, these were the most tender and complex in my opinion, but everything is packed with incredible flavor! Although for the beauty of the dishes themselves I expected a little bit more refinement and elevation of technique, this spot is still very reliable and craveworthy! If you're ever in Seaport, I definitely recommend a visit.

The seaport food game continues to level up. Service is great and the food comes out so quickly. The space is a little odd since it's in the bottom of the Amazon building, but you'll be in and out so quickly it doesn't really matter. The fried mushrooms were my favorite, cucumber salad was nice and refreshing. Lamb shank broth had more flavor to it, but I loved the braised beef as it was so tender and perfectly spicy. I'd love it if the noodles were a little thicker and chewier, but overall a great meal. Will definitely be back!

This location has potential, but needs work. I've been to the original Cambridge location, but this one is rather diminished. I went for the braised beef noodle soup, and they get a decent grade for 2 out of the 3 elements. The soup and noodles were fine, though the soup was quite spicy. The noodles were bouncy and had pretty good texture. The beef was atrocious. Both the beef from this noodle soup and from the Lanzhou beef noodle soup were dry and cooked to crap. It took a while to chew some of that horrendous offering. I notified the waiter at the end of the meal and she appreciated my feedback. Prior to that, I overheard a couple of waiters talk about other patrons complaining about the beef, so it wasn't me. Service was friendly but in need of refinement. They forgot a few requests my dining partner had made. The space is a bit small, with that combination of modern sleekness with "traditional" Chinese looks. It's fine but expect a wait if you have a large group. The restaurant, which is in the Amazon building, has a bathroom just outside the restaurant, though it was in surprisingly bad shape. It's nice to have some affordable dining options in the Seaport, so I hope this one casts off better in the future. Right now, it's behind Yume Ga Arukara by a country mile. I'll stick to the Central Square location for now.

Meh, honestly, which is my usual assessment for restaurants in Seaport. Expectations fell short for this place in particular. Food: 2/5. I went with the tomato egg noodles, as that was one of my favorite childhood dishes. For being the namesake ingredient, the fresh hand-pulled noodles were a disappointment - all clumpy and gummy, a sign of maybe overcrowding in the pot. The dishes do come out crazy fast: not two minutes after the table next to us put in their order, the dishes came out already. I thought wistfully of the Xi'an Famous Foods noodles that I used to eat with abandon. The tomato egg sauce was good but needed some more seasoning. The crispy mushroom bites could have used a longer blot to soak up some of the excess oil. Service: 1/5. The troubles started when my friend got there before I did and they wouldn't seat her until I arrived nor did they take her number down to add to the waitlist (which I've never heard before). Then when I got there, they sat us at a table RIGHT next to someone else even though quite a few other tables for two people were still empty. The finishing touch was when a waitress dropped off the check without a word as she was still eating, with lots of food visibly left in her bowl. No one came by to see how we liked our noodles or if we needed anything else. The vibes were very much "get-in/get-out so we can seat as many tables as possible for the night" but then they shove the option of an 18% gratuity in your face when you sign for the bill. Please, please put up a sign for people to enter through the building lobby rather than tug fruitlessly at the locked doors facing the sidewalk. It's really jarring to be eating your food and look up to find some disgruntled faces wondering why they can't get in. I want to give Lanner the benefit of the doubt because I know they just opened this location and are probably finding their feet but this was one of the most mediocre dining experiences I've had in Boston. The jaded part of me says that this is a trendy spot resting on a spurt in interest from being featured in a bunch of TikTok/IG reels from food influencers but there's very little substance under the hype. Yume Ga Arukara is only a few feet away and we should've gone there instead.

Decent enough for a lunch as someone who works in seaport but would not go out of my way to dine at this location. They have a decent sized dining room for Seaport but if you don't go right at opening on weekdays expect to wait a good amount since this location is close to so many offices. A lot of the dishes here are dry noodles and the two times I've visited I've received lukewarm food. The noodles are bouncy and have a good texture but that's about all I can say. Nothing stood out. The only thing I've eaten here that I've told others about is their cumin lamb skewer. I'd skip this location and head to the original Cambridge location where there's more options if you don't eat red meat and more consistent food and service.

My husband and I visited Lanner Noodles for lunch. The restaurant is located inside a building complex that is shared with a cafe and other buddy. The entrance is very confusing. You have to enter the main building to enter the restaurant although the restaurant has doors that customers can walk into from the street. Even when we were seated, we would watch multiple customers try to gain access through this door and had to be signed language that it was not an entrance but to come around to the next set of doors. For appetizers, we ordered the lamb skewers and the soup dumplings. The lamb skewers were a bit chewy while the soup dumplings tasted like what we paid for, a little soup and a chewy filling. It didn't come with the ginger vinegar dipping sauce that I am used to, however, there is black vinegar on the table that you can add to the soup. Overall, both appetizers were very underwhelming. For the price, I didn't have high expectations. I ordered the lamb shank noodle soup while my husband ordered the braised beef noodle soup. The hand pulled noodles were delicious as were the soup broth. We can watch the noodles being made fresh. The noodles is not thick and chunky as with most hand pulled noodles restaurants that we have tried. It was thinner. Sadly, the lamb shank meat for my soup was also very tough. I took one bite and gave up and did not touch the meat again. I did however finished the noodles and broth. My husband's meat was a bit more tender. There is hot chili oil on the table so that you can add to make your noodles spicier. My highlight during this visit however was the original roasted milk tea. This was served in a teapot. I would come back to try their other teas and noodles. Service was attentive but felt not experienced. We were not giving plates for the shared appetizers. When I asked for small plates, we were provided bowls which felt silly. Overall, it was a good 3.5 stars experience. I would come back to try their noodles and hot teas but I would skip the two appetizers I tried during this visit. See my pictures!

Stopped here while in the city and met some friends. It was a week night and I walked in a couple minutes after they opened. The location was smaller, however there were already a good amount of people in the restaurant. The restaurant has only been open for a little bit of time but they show amazing promise. The staff was incredibly friendly and great at answering any questions. They atmosphere is hip and trendy. The food was very tasty and arrived hot. The kitchen was also very fast moving. The longer we were there, the more the restaurant filled up and the kitchen was able to keep the pace. By the time we left there was a line for people to eat. After eating there, I get why.

Finally got to try Lanner Noodles! Booked a reservation for 3 through Resy & we were able to get a table 20 min early with no issue before our reservation time. We each got our own noodles to try & shared some apps. Here's what we ordered: -beef rib chili oil noodles (x2 orders) -lamb shank noodle soup -soup dumplings (x2 orders) -golden chicken nuggets Drinks: -yuzu sparkling juice -white peach sparkling juice -plum juice -osmanthus fermented rice milk tea My favorite was the beef rib chili oil noodles! Ordered with the recommended noodle size (wide) & It had the best flavor out of all the dishes we tried. We did wish that the beef rib was more tender but I know it's usually not for this kind of dish. Did not find it spicy but as you keep eating it, the spice does build a little. Still, not bad if you're not someone who typically enjoys spicy food & contemplating getting this dish due to spice. The lamb shank noodle soup is what I personally had & I also got this dish with its recommended noodle size, classic. It wasn't bad! The broth was on the plainer side & reminded me of hotpot soup base lol... didn't find it to have much depth in flavor & VERY SALTY. Found myself struggling to finish it and think I would've enjoyed a dry noodle dish more. ***I did ask for a side of chili oil and it helped a lot for this dish!!*** The noodles for both dishes were great! Had a nice chew & you can tell the noodles were fresh. Also had a nice amount of meat in each dish. Next, the golden chicken nuggets! These were, to our surprise, spicy LOL. Totally did not expect this. It came with a sweet + sour sauce that helped with the slight spice. Pretty good. For the soup dumplings, we got two orders of them & it came with a vinegar ginger sauce to pair. They were okay. I liked that they were pretty soupy but other than that, not very impressed. Presentation was cute though! Not much flavor going on & usually we can't help ourselves from going for seconds or thirds but today, we all were okay with just one or two dumplings each & struggled to finish the last two. All the drinks were yummy, my favorites were the moshi brand yuzu & white peach. You can find these at many Asian restaurants nowadays. Plum juice tasted as expected & the osmanthus fermented rice milk tea is definitely an acquired taste. The fermented rice is sweet & has a slightly boozy taste. I didn't mind it but it was my least favorite drink we ordered. Something I wasn't too fond of was when we had finished all the appetizers, no one came to clear them even after our main entrees arrived to the table. Our table was quite small & it just made it difficult to eat. Overall, I'm not sure if I would come back but if I did, it would be for their beef rib chili oil noodles! In my opinion, their portion sizes are pretty generous for the price in comparison to other spots w/ similar dishes on their menu. I liked the texture of the noodles, very fun to eat! Expectations did fall short for this one unfortunately but this is a rather new location so I'm not entirely sure how I feel about this restaurant yet. Restaurants in Seaport always end up being pretty meh & Lanner Noodles is not an exception I fear. Perhaps I will give their other location in Cambridge a try to get a better idea on if the dishes we tried today was an accurate representation of the hype they receive on social media platforms.

Need to join wait list when I got there at 5:15... waited around 20 minutes. The service is fast at the beginning, but it got slower when it comes to serving the noodle soup. Marinated Wood Ear Mushroom ($7) - only can taste spicy, don't have the vinegar taste that I was hopping for Lanzhou Beef Noodle Soup ($15) - no spicy - the noodle was more harder to chew since they are handmade, don't have the soft texture, the soup was savory without the chili oil Briased Beef Noodle Soup ($15) - same has Lanzhou Beef Noodle soup, just the beef was braised in cube Classic Soup Dumpings ($7) - The dumplings are the highlight of the meal, super juicy and flavorful. This will be the only dish that makes it want to come back again. Skin was thin, meat was soft and juicy. Roasted Milk Tea - Black Sesame ($10) - definitely not worth the price, no black sesame and tea flavor

My brother got the cold spicy udon with beef. Overall I was underwhelmed by this place. It's solid and good pricing but I wouldn't queue for it. My brother said it was much better the previous times he's been here, and my friend raves about their cold udon. Well unfortunately I can only base my opinions on when I've tried it. Udon itself was a bit tough and not chewy. I guess it's better than being mushy. I don't think it's a matter of how long you cook it, because the texture didn't improve by the time I reached the end of my bowl which would've been an extra ten minutes of heating up. Hot udon comes with broth which I think is worth for $2 more than cold which doesn't come with broth. It's chicken based which indeed invoked childhood flavors for me. However, I wish it was even stronger in chicken flavor and less creamy. It tasted a bit msg to me too. It lingered in my mouth a while afterwards. The tempura bits got in the way of me eating the udon, drinking the broth, and eating the scallion. I think hot udon doesn't benefit from tempura compared to cold brothless udon. The spicy oil wasn't actually spicy to me. The flavor reminds me a bit of black bean chicken feet marinade at dim sum restaurants. I don't think it's additive. My brother said that non-spicy cold udon is refreshing and tart. That sounds more interesting. Beef tastes unnecessary to me. It's not value added to my noodles. It's a bit too sweet and too fibrous. 3.5* but putting down 3* since my expectations were unmet after hearing and seeing hype.
