Pleasantly surprised when we popped in to get out of the cold. Nothing better in a pub than good whiskey, a cold pint, and really creepy decor. Loved it!! And one of the bar tenders was from the Bay Area.

Great Fish & Chips, AMAZING Cottage Pie and Chips, both with "salad" (no dressing)

(I'm from America, so I'll be writing tips mostly for people who are also new to or visiting Dublin!) This has become my favorite place to eat in Dublin. The Cottage Pie is amazing and the lunch price is great, available till 4pm! (Dinner is a little pricey for a backpacker) I love their Fish & Chips, too, it's always a battle to pick one. The lasagna is just ok, a little bland, kinda mushy. John tried the lamb soup and thought it was just ok. That's all we've tried so far, I keep getting more fish or pie, haha. We'll absolutely come back before we leave Ireland!! The service is friendly and it never takes long to get your server's attention. Most places in Ireland (and England), you order and pay at the counter, sit down, they bring it to you, end of story. But here, you can order at the counter or pick a seat, and they'll come to you. They'll even come clear your dishes and offer dessert. You pay at the table, they can bring the CC reader right to you, it's really the closest you'll get to table service without paying a lot! People really don't tip here, unless they pay with cash and just leave the coins. Sometimes if someone was really good, though, I still leave a little! * The four stars are only because they don't offer / allow you a glass if you bring in coffee or tea from another business (I realize this is tacky, but I want YOUR food and MY coffee! If I pour it in your glass no one has to know :p) I admit, though, I haven't tried the coffee HERE, so I don't know if it's good or not! I'm pretty picky about coffee, so once we found our coffee spot here, we stay faithful to it :) Enjoy Ireland, it's incredible!

I've been in Lanigans few times, only for my lunch break. Pub is nicely decorated, for some ppl it might be over the top. They do lunch menu for 6€ which is very good price in the city centre. Food is typical pub food, like pies, fish&chips, curry, soup&sambos etc. Good portions and tasty. Staff is friendly, service was a bit slow but it didn't bother me much. I would go back.

Love the interior of this pub. Full of antiques, collectables, old photos and bits n bobs. Loads of character!

I've never actually drank in Lanigans Pub but I'm sure they pull a good pint. I love the decor - all dimly lit, full of antiques, knick-knack paddy whacks give a dog a bone sort of stuff. The reason I've popped into this premises has been lunch. It's near where I work so it has been a handy place to pop into to, to refuel. They have lunch deals that I haven't tried many of apart from the soup and toasted sandwiches/panini and chicken salad which I give a thumbs up to. I can't recommend or advise against the rest of the menu I'm afraid. The staff are friendly. The clientele mixed. As the pub is actually part of the Clifton Court Hotel, I'd say it's a hopping base for parties of lads and lassies out on the town over on holidays or long weekends during the evenings of peak season months, but I'm only speculating.

Best Irish bar in Dublin!!!

It's a pretty small place and it feels very hidden so making a reservation is probably a good idea. How it works: walk downstairs (look for the neon sign that says "sshhh!") and GENTLY press the pig head on your left at the bottom to open the secret door. Our server was a gem and helped us navigate the extensive craft cocktail menu-I LOVED THE "breakfast of champions " and my wife enjoyed the noonin which was a bit of a riff on a margarita. We started with the creamy burratta with grilled pears and bread-heavenly and so fresh. For mains I got the pasta with beef and onions(yum!), but the standout was the braised short ribs with creamy mashed potatoes-amazing! -and at €30 a fantastic value. In fact everything was very reasonably priced and cocktails were only €15 each. Out entire bill was just €120-at least 50% less than a comparable meal at a quality restaurant in the US. Highly recommended (shhh!)

What to do after that? Our answer was to hit a cocktail bar. We didn't have a reservation, but they told us if we were quick (like an hour or less), we could be seated. (They had a rez afterwards.) We only wanted a round, so that was fine by us. I was on a refreshing cocktail kick so I got the noinin. On the menu it was listed as "Dublin's Best Margarita 2018" so I had to try. It was what I was craving. Slightly tart, not too sweet, etc. Tho I prefer a lil more spirit forward. But it was a good drink to have after pours of whiskey earlier. Vibe is boisterous. Decor is a little cave like. Walking thru an italian resto was in the spirit it being a speakeasy. Glad we stopped by. REVIEW #4115

You are instantly drawn to it and the live music you can hear coming from the inside, I visited on a Tuesday at about 1pm and the place was packed. We could not initially find a place to sit. You are not greeted as you walk in and there is no one to check in with to get a table. You are on your own scavenger hunt for a place to sit. We were lucky and stalked someone that was just leaving so we were able to sit. We also had to quickly figure out that there is a QR code with a table number next to it to order your drinks and food. I ordered The Irish Mint and my aunt had the Old Fashioned. We also had a toastie for a snack. The Irish Mint and Old Fashioned were very good - probably the best drinks we had during our Ireland trip. They were strong and had good flavor. The 2 drinks came out to about $38 euros, so pricier than the average pub in Dublin. The Toastie was delish! It was double stacked, had a good amount of cheese, was full of flavor, and had a nice crispy to it too. The sauces was also good and complemented the flavors of the toastie, The pickle was extra good. I was not expecting to have such a good toastie, but I was pleasantly surprised. The pub atmosphere was fun. The live music was back to back. One musician finished up and another 2 were setting up. People sang along to the music and made it feel very lively. The decor was very festive with lots and lots of Christmas decorations all over the bar, particularly in the ceiling. Overall, we had a good experience. The restaurant was vibey and fun. The food and drinks are delicious. The prices are much higher than your average pub. My biggest issue was not being greeted or helped to get table.

We managed to check into our hotel, have breakfast, and now hit up temple bar. (We were trying to help our friend kill time until it was time for him to check into his VRBO.) I did not get an itemized receipt, but our total charge ended up being 44.65 euro. (Not sure if this included tip.) I believe the pour was probably redbreast. Since it was early, it was pretty chill and empty. There was still live music. We sat a a high top and had one round. Our server was patient and sweet. I knew what I wanted, but I think it took a while for the rest in my party to decide. Vibe might have been different later in the day, but it was as expected for a gloomy morning. REVIEW #4111

My husband and I stopped by for dinner and I ordered a caesar salad and their fish chowder. The caesar was great but my gosh the fish chowder and accompanying brown bread rocked my socks. So, much so, that I did what I never do--I revisited this spot more than once on the same trip (so many places to explore I almost never do this!). That fish chowder is craveable. They do live music on occasion as well and so we were able to enjoy that while sipping our Guinness. The prices are reasonable and the service is friendly.
