My wife and I had just arrived on a transatlantic flight from Miami (this was before the pandemic obviously), and rather than take a nap after we checked in to our cottage south of the city, we decided to take the Luas Green Line tram into the city to walk around a bit. While the tram was picking up passengers at the Harcourt stop, I noticed The Odeon from the window and it's sign for an early-bird dinner and drink specials. It looked like a very nice place so I kept it in the back of my mind. We didn't get off the tram at the time, but later that afternoon as we were getting hungry (and more tired, lol) I remembered The Odeon, so we got off at that stop on our way back to our residence, and what a great choice that turned out to be! The atmosphere inside is very nice, almost akin to a private club (especially since it was only 5:00pm and we were the first to arrive for happy hour and dinner). My wife and I both ordered the two-course prix fixe dinner for €22 and both courses were delicious as well as presented beautifully. I enjoyed two pints of Guinness (€11 total) while my wife ordered the Lana Turner cocktail for €6. Good food, good drinks, good atmosphere; what more do you need?! read more

After a particularly long bank holiday weekend (I'd managed to stretch it to the length of a full working week), I vowed to take it easy on the boozing. With this personal pledge hanging over me, I ended up in The Odeon with a group of Yelpers. Considering the last time I was here was about six years ago and my friend and I had spent half the night over a toilet bowl, it was going to be interesting to socialise here sober... With a clear head, I admired the building (which was once a train station). I ascended the steps gracefully and greeted the bouncer politely. So far, so civilised. The interior is fancy and the seats are large and comfortable. Candles adorn every table. It wasn't too busy so no crowds to elbow through (although my friend still managed to spill my drink over me). The DJ spun great, fun music (lots of 80s and 90s and some banging modern tunes) but he played every track right to the bitter end. I prefer when a DJ is snappier and doesn't let the dance-floor occupants get bored. Then again, I was the only non-intoxicated dancer and the only one to comment on this. As I went from sparkling water to cranberry juice to Coca-Cola, my friend fell in love with what she knows it as "The Pineapple Drink, even though it's red!" (which is how she ordered it and the barman knew exactly what she meant- fair play!) As she put it herself, "It's a cocktail with the word 'breeze' in it and the juiciest piece of pineapple and a bit of a palm tree". As I filmed my friends' hilarious dance-slash-street-fighter moves, a guy beckoned me over and tried to snog the face off me. First sign of how a sober person might not fit in here. Another fella danced with my friend's hand as she continued to sit on the arm of a chair and chat to me. This lasted about five minutes and when he finally left her, his mates gave him a cheer. We discussed how if a girl did that, she'd be deemed psychotic. The loos are down a winding stair-case (which my sobriety allowed me to descend sans hand-rail) and they're clean with lots of stalls. I never had to queue and there was always toilet roll. A woman worked there but she sat with her feet up on a stool, reading a book, and didn't smother you with paper-towel or guilt-inducing stares. All in all, The Odeon is definitely a good venue for tee-totallers, while the drunk people loved it too. However, even though I wasn't inebriated, I still prefer a place that is more conducive to mingling and playful banter and The Odeon is a little bit too dignified for that. read more

The Odeon was re-done last year, I always liked the old odeon and couldnt understand why they had to change it. However having been there I realise now what you can do if you have some money. This is a classy place. The interior is so well designed now, Its well decorated and so well designed, with bars in three different locations to make sure everyone can get a drink without having to crowd though loads of people. The food has changed into a series of tasting plate which are are very very good indeed. Much better than a bar has a right to serve! Overall a great new style modern bar, as good as something can get. The old exterior is still there as well adding an air elegance to the proceedings. read more

Although its not quite as popular as it once was the Odeon is still a great pub. Its location and setting still its best feature. Situated in the Old harcourt street railway building the place is huge. You have to feel sorry for the bar staff as well sometimes the main bar is at least 50 feet long. The Odeon's size makes it ideal for groups and means it never feels too packed even on the busy weekend nights. The downside to this is that when its not too busy it can feel a bit empty and cavernous. The beer terrace outside it a nice touch. This has to be one of the best located places public transport wise, the LUAS stops right outside the place. At the weekend its open until half 2 and to the left of the main room has a dance floor so you can throw shapes all night long. The upstairs bar is usually available for birthdays and events and they serve food 7 days a week. read more

After its reopening around December 2012 I found the bar had been completely revamped. They removed the big long bar at the back and put in a smaller one. They brought this new bar forward too, so now there is now a seating area in behind it. Adding to that there are two more bars at either end. The result? Excellent. It makes much better sense and makes this big beautiful space not as cavernous as it was before. One drawback after the reopening is they do not open for lunch. They do however serve the most excellent tasting plates in the evening time. The food is a tad expensive, but they do have a pretty good deal going: 3 tapas and a bottle of wine for 35 EUR. I still have to take them up on this offer. I've also sampled their cocktails and on the very first occasion I was served up the most excellent Caipirinhas. Alas they have never been that good since. The girl who made them on the first occasion may now be gone. Oh well. A good job has been done here. It makes for a nice after work drink or somewhere to bring visitors to impress. read more

The venue was a train station long time ago, it creates a huge space that the pub owner (s?) has decorated with big pictures and many sized tables. It is a good place to go as group, with the option to make a reservation. In summer the bbq smokes weekends to ensure that you can enjoy your afterwork with a beer and and burger made on fire. During the week it is easy to see company night outs, meet ups or just friends going out together. Close to some clubs to dance after the beer and the dinner. read more

This place was a regular haunt when I worked in the area. The chicken wings are awesome! They are pretty much the only ones I want to eat in Dublin. The furniture is comfy, but there can be a bit of a shortage on space when it's very busy, even when you reserve. Outside the smoking area is long and narrow, logistics of walking though there are a bit of a drawback. Service has really improved recently. Had a coupe of bad experiences with staff over the past few years (wrong bills, super slow, scowling) but happy to say that seems to be a thing of be past. The table service has really improved too. You don't have to run to the and every time you need something anymore. read more

Massive plot of real estate located centrally, beautiful ceramic pillars on the outside complimented with sleek interior architecture with plenty of Smithwicks on tap to feast upon. Dropped in here for dinner with my wife a few weeks back. I've always knew it to be a trendy bar and that has not changed at all. It seems a little dark when you first enter. When your eyes adjust you will be amazed at how big it is inside. A great place for a large group to meet for drinks. They have a good food menu with all the usual pub suspects on it. I went for the beef burger, not bad at all, it comes with chips and a few dips. Burger was cooked well and was tasty. My wife had a pasta dish, mushroom, chicken and chorizo. It was tasty but possibly the portion size was too big. Not a bad complaint if your starving I suppose. :-) The service was prompt and friendly. We weren't waiting long for our food. My one gripe would be the quality of the Guinness. I had to send back my pint after tasting it. The waiter exchanged it without question however the replacement pint wasn't that much better TBH. We wanted to have a Sunday evening coffee. Frustratingly there is a lack of late night cafés, I suggested here as it's a beautiful building and the decking out front easily mimics a continental café. We ordered two cappuccinos. He doused them in chocolate powder which was unnecessary. I am a bit of a coffee snob so I could tell he was not a barista and he was just using a generic machine, but hey it's main function is a pub so I could see past that. What I could not see past was the bill. €3.20 for a cup of bad tasting cappuccino, and I mean a cup... A very small cup. Who on earth do they think they are charging that ludicrous amount for a poorly made drink? Again just go here to drink alcohol. read more

I've been a fan of the Odeon for some years now... I think it's something to do with the lovely art deco interiors and comfy chairs making it all seem so civilised. I was there last night for movie club with a friend who'd never been there before and I found myself showcasing all the things I like about the place. During the day it's nice food in a relaxed atmosphere and in the evenings it turns into a bar/club. On Sunday nights it's the Salsa/Samba night. You can take some classes upstairs from about 7 - I went to these for ages and they're really great classes and then you can dance the night away. DJs there tend to be good, but sometimes they're hit and miss.... there's usually only a cover charge on Saturday nights. Not the cheapest place for drink but then you can't have everything now can you. great new years eve parties too! read more

I sought out Odeon Nite Bar based on a review of a cocktail that I found in one of the many food magazines I read (Food & Wine? Bon Appétit? Saveur? Food Network? Who knows?). The description of the French 75, in particular, caught my attention, and given that I was going to be in Dublin anyway, I made an effort to stop by on a Friday night. The review also mentioned that Odeon serves food, but if this was the case, a menu was nowhere to be found--for that matter, a seat was difficult to come by, as well, though I did find one. Be forewarned, however--this is not a spot to come to by yourself. I happened to be alone, and while I didn't feel ostracized, I certainly didn't feel particularly welcome--a singles bar this is not (groups seemed to dominate the place, and large ones, at that). All that said, the space is truly impressive and the cocktails are quite good and reasonably priced, given the venue. I would return... but with folks in tow! read more

Odeon is a big spacious club with lots of things going on. You can chill on the terrace and see trains passing by, you can go dance inside, you can have a romantic date here (crazy sexy lightening), you can have a barbecue here (7 euros) in a barbecue lounge, and you can watch a movie here. First off, thanks to Josh for organising a UYE to see Life of Brian at the Odeon. All pubs should have movie nights! The combination of a full bar and Monty Python is just too good. Being housed in a Victorian-era railway station gives the Odeon some unusual advantages too. The place feels massive, so it can be split into sections and cater for different crowds. While we movie-nerds were being hidden behind curtains, the far-right of the bar was catering to the drinks-and-nibbles crowd, and around the entrance were a few guys nursing pints in the sort of semi-darkness Dickensian urchins would appreciate. The service was really attentive, and fast. The Odeon seems to be really willing to try different things, and was a really committed to making sure people emjoyed themselves. read more

Odeon, so handy for after-work drinks, very comfortable surroundings decent staff, all-round nice spot with a great atmosphere busy or quiet. Eaten many times (live close-by and Bleeding Horse isn't the best for grub) they would badly want to extend or vary the menu just a little, haven't seen a new dish in months. But if you're eating, generally the quality is very good. Breakfasts, Burgers (Especially Mexican), Sweet Chilli Chicken Sandwich, Steak and caramelised onion sandwich, fish bouillabaisse, fish and chips (i could go on...) all very nice indeed and will definitely fill a casual lunch/quick bite spot. En route to a work function where food would consist of morsels on sticks, I popped in for something more substantial. I had a perfectly acceptable burger off a short but pretty generic menu it has to be said. The food was well presented with a basket of fries alrhough I thought we'd passed peak twee ways to serve food (breadboard and mini frying basket. Geddit?) Nevertheless it was pretty good. Lucky me! St Pat's Day weekend in Dublin! I was invited to a St Pat's Eve Party given by a local meetup group and it was a fantastic, magical night at the Odeon! The place was packed to the gills! Awesome posh bar & nightclub! The building once was a train station which they did a phenomenal job of transforming into a club. Upon entering the club, a gorgeous space with plenty of open space for private tables, banquets, sofas, bar stools and mingling/dancing room. Our group had a private party upstairs... an ample space with a large dance floor, bar and lounging area. I spent the evening alternating on both floors and just taking it all in. Fab DJ's spinning great tunes, fantastic ambiance. Although it is an upmarket club, no pretentious guards at the front door like in New York choosing who is worthy to go in. No astronomical cover charges! Average prices for drinks on par with most nightclub establishments. You're going to pay $8-10 USD for a drink in any nightclub in the world. We came here on a weekday night (Tuesday) so it was pretty empty. Although that was the case, it was difficult to get the one (maybe two?) servers attentions. Once we did however, we were able to order and the food came quickly. I went for an unimpressive chicken caeser salad (was mediocre) and some skinny chips. The chips were lovely - the parmesan/rosemary ones are good, but not so rosemary-ish as you'd hope. My friend ordered the small portion of wings which were pretty generous. If you're looking for a place for a night out with the girls this is the spot for you! A few Fridays ago I headed to Odeon with a group of friends after work. Once I walked in the door there was a great buzz about the place and even better was the fact we were welcomed with a complimentary glass of prosecco to wash the working week away. We had arranged for a table to be reserved and we got superb area which was big enough to fit 10 of us comfortably. The decor has been updated recently and it only helps the atmosphere of the bar. As we relaxed into our area we got a classic case of the post work munchies and order a food platter. The finger food was made up of huge serving spring rolls, samosas, chicken wings, chicken skewers and wedges all of which hit and satisfied that 8 o'clock hunger pang. They have a vast range of cocktails, beers, spirits and wines which kept us happy for the evening. As the evening turned into the night, the bar got busier and the tunes began to bust out - exactly what we were in the mood for. I didn't think I would of been such a fan but the outdoor seating area, city centre location and staff changed my mind. All in all, very accommodating staff and venue. This place used to be a great spot for after work drinks but oh how that has changed... We booked an area for 30 people and on arrival, we were given two tables in the middle of the floor with less than 10 stools. The cocktails were... different. The bathrooms were one of the worst I've ever seen. I wouldn't even expect this from a bathroom if it was 1:00 am on a Saturday evening. This was 4:30 pm on a Friday and only 2/8 stalls were usable. If this is how you keep your bathrooms god knows what your kitchen is like. Speaking of food... mediocre at best. We had the table booked for the evening and ended up leaving at 7. Booked a wedding party here for 14, we booked two tables and they wanted 100€ for the tables then they said that will be taken off the bill, they didn't take it off the bill and all my guests had to pay for the drinks they ordered, they would have robbed my 100€ if I didn't notice and ask what was going on!! They also said they place rock music and all night it was nothing but bad dance music.. Would NOT recommend!! Staff are unfriendly and it's obviously not run very well if they didn't even tell the staff about us coming. read more

SUNDAY NIGHTS!!!!! If you only go to the Odeon one time, make it a Sunday. Probably the best salsa/samba night in Dublin, treat yourself to a peek at some honestly amazing dancers (and drink enough to think that you can emulate them). You will feel inadequate sometimes, but that's tempered by the sheer talent (both physically and dancingwise) on show. I feel like I'm in a dance movie sometimes, once the lights came on, and the MC said that we were in for a treat, and he wasn't lying! The dancefloor parted and we were wowed by a performance by what truly was an amazing couple after which the crowd melted back onto the floor. Magic. We were also part of what I swear must have been the inspiration for the club scene from Step Up, with the whole club doing the same dance together at around 2am, regardless of ability! Fabulous! The people are fun, some are serious dancers, others are just up for a laugh, but it's one of the best nights out you'll have! And if you like a man (or woman) who can dance...no need to look any further...Shakira eat your heart out! read more

This is a spacious bar not far from my office and can't vouch for how it is at night however what they are doing well is the bar/lunch menu. Great open space with plenty of tables to suit all types of group sizes and most important when on a working lunch is that everything from the time you arrive, order, eat and leave that your back in the office within the hour! They turnaround orders really well so it's firmly on my working lunch list of places to go now. The food is tasty and well portioned, appears slightly pricey for a sandwich however comes with a side of salad or fries and well, as I mentioned the ingredients are great, flavour is on the money and portioned well so your never hungry mid-afternoon, I'm always well satisfied up till evening time. Staff friendly and they turn out a quick service that doesn't come across rude or abrupt, often a hard thing to balance so star for that too read more

Long overdue review. My son was married near Dublin and the night before the wedding we had the Grooms family party here as a "rehearsal dinner". An event common in the states before the wedding. We had a about 40-50 guests between 6 and 9pm and were given the back side of the bar running the length of the bar. They gave us drink tickets and offered many different foods on the tables and with servers. It was a huge success. The Odeon were organized and helped me plan this from a very long distance. Kelly in the back office took care of everything and by the time of the event we just had to show up. Effortless, organized and alot of fun in this wonderful space. The sliders btw were a big hit. Me and the lads were in the area last weekend to see Alabama3 play at Tripod and decided to grab a few pints at Odeon while we were waiting on the doors to open. I must say, it was a great decision. The bar has a very laid back atmosphere and brilliant decor. We initially were going to have a quick pint or two, but ended up skipping the opening act and staying for about seven or eight drinks. Everything smelled so amazing we had to try a few items off the menu as well. They have a good selection of appetizers which are perfect for when you are out for a few pints. The calamari and shrimp was very good - cooked perfectly as not to be rubbery but would melt in your mouth. We also had the wings and crostini which were both equally as impressive. I will most certainly be back again one night for a full dinner as the menu was quite impressive. read more

This place has improved vastly since the refurb last year, there's far more comfortable seating and there's now a couple of bars which means you can get served quicker. Both the bar staff and the bouncers were friendly and helpful, I couldn't fault them. My only complaint really is the ladies bathrooms down in the basement could do with an update, they were a bit on the pongy side and I think it was down to old fixtures that were leaking a bit. The reason I first went into the Odeon was the fact that the building used to be a railway station, so I was curious as to what it would look like turned into a pub. Well, they certainly turned it into a pub to remember. I'm not the biggest fan of the Odeon though, because it is too big, the crowd tends to be very D4- posers in other words- and the music isn't always my cup of tea. In general the staff tend to cope with the size of the place quite well, but I also remember times when they were nothing short of rude. To end on a positive note though, because of it's size the Odeon is perfect for larger crowds and you barely ever have to fight for space. read more

Great bar, good location if you are meeting friends off the LUAS which stops directly outside the door. Great place for an after-work relaxer. Gets lively at the weekend and is full of professional types if that is your niche. Good pint of Guinness for the visiting tourists but prices are a bit high. I actually think this place is absolutely beautiful, love all the pictures around and the decor, but that's all. Service is very poor. My last time here was a Saturday night with my friend, the bar wasn't busy, there were about 3 people at the bar buying drinks and two behind the bar, it took about 10-13 minutes for an eye contact, I walked back to where my friend was (near by the other bar on the right) hoping to get a drink there, but nothing, so decided to go back to the main bar again and then I got a drink... This is a large, trendy bar in Dublin city centre. It is nicely decorated inside and full of nicely dressed young people. It feels like any trendy pub inside though as there is nothing to distinguish it from the rest. It is crazily busy on Friday and Saturday nights and difficult to get a seat. It is just beside a Luas stop so convenient for getting home! read more
