The Cellar was ok. going inside and walking through the hallway with wine bottles on display got me really excited. I walk in and it wasn't what I was expecting for a 5 star hotel. Had a beer and left.

Down under The Merrion Hotel in the old wine vaults is this excellent place to have a drink or a meal. We shared the Seafood Board (hot smoked salmon, silver darlings, jumbo shrimps, Goldenbridge smoked trout with soda bread, baby gem and marie rose sauce), it was a perfect start along with the Champagne cocktail and Whiskey Sour. The Fish and Chips were excellent. Then we shared the Classic Crème Brulee & the Apple streusel cake, both were fantastic, not sure I could pick a winner.

I think the dinner I had here was the best I had in Dublin. Found this place by accident. Walking back to my hotel while taking pictures of all different color of doors, I started talking to staff at this hotel The Merrion. Hotel staff was so nice to show me around the hotel and he recommended to check out their Cellar Bar. I went down to just check out and take pictures originally. Since I fell in love with the decor, I decided to have a glass of wine. They served a glass with some olives and crackers, I really enjoyed nice conversation with several of their staffs, I decided to eat dinner here as well. I started my dinner with three piece of oysters. One from Ireland, France and Netherlands. I like the one from Ireland but my favorite was the one from France. As the server recommended fish and chips, that's what I had for my dinner. I like the way they served my food, it's pub food but they still found a way to serve food in very elegant way. Very nice ambiance, I felt like I was at someone's house wine cellar, very friendly staff, great food... Before I knew, the bottle of wine they opened earlier was empty. Great way to enjoy great Irish food while being away from too loud too crowded typical bars.

Great gathering spot, neat little hidden seating nooks & crannies. Would be great little hang out with a group or on a date. Not too loud and no TVs (refreshing). Service decent, atmosphere really neat, nice part of Dublin, cool outdoor torch (when it's lit up). From other reviews I've read, it sounds like the food is good. My experience was that the Burger I ordered was just Bad, with a capital "B" (or possibly I'm just an obnoxious American burger snob???) I think the former, so 3 stars. Come for the atmosphere, eat the free bar munchies, have a pint, but be wary of the burgers.

I went to the Celler Bar for Brunch recently.... not expecting all that much to be honest as I hadnt heard much of it! With a mid-day booking I was suitably starving! The cellar is exactly what you'd imagine, only better... nooks and crannies with plenty of seating areas and a swish bar to sit at. The menu is amazing - sooo much to chose from whether you want to have a healthy enough brunch or a bold burger and chips kinda day! We went mainly bold with a bit of healthy thrown in! Believe me when I tell you those Heuvos Rancheros were AMAZING! So we had the Super Salad - Baby spinach, pomegranate, feta cheese, quinoa, feves, toasted seeds and cider vinegar dressing, the Heuvos Rancheros - Corn tortillas, refried beans, 2 fried eggs, with avocado, red onion, coriander, tomato and sour cream and the Merrion Beef Burger with Dubliner cheese and tomato, served with skinny fries. And there was nothing healthy about dessert, fab little choux buns filled with ice cream! :-) I loved the Brunch here and would definitely recommend if you fancy a bite somewhere just out the busy-ness of town.

Great bar which is part of the Merrion hotel; accessible from its own entrance to the side of the hotel it's a great spot for an intimate drink or a catch up with friends. As you'd expect, service here is great... Whether you're in for food or just a drink, you will get a warm welcome. My only negative here would be when sitting at the bar, staff aren't as warmly instead they don't hide they are busy quickly rushing from order to order plus can be a little rough, like banging glasses which I feel they could just be a little considerate to those unwinding at the bar. The place is as the name suggestions a cellar like venue, stone walls, snugs and low ceilings make this place very intriguing... Not pretentious, this place caters well for everyone.

My friend who has very good wine taste really enjoyed this selection.

I think this place only has a few reviews because it is one of Dublin's best kept little secrets. Had my friend not recommended this place I never would have found it. Boy was I glad she did. We sat at the corner of the bar. The place looks like an old-school wine cellar. The ambience is fantastic. I'm sure the wine is kept naturally cool because this place is actually one story below ground. I am not a "foodie" so I won't go into specific detail about my meal, but I ordered steak and fresh vegetables and it was made exactly order and tasted fantastic. My friend had oysters and the waiter-recommended fish and chips and she really enjoyed everything as well. They serve complementary fresh bread with that fantastic grass-fed Irish butter. Yum! Being in Dublin, I wasn't drinking wine so I opted for the usual pint of Guinness. Obviously there is a fantastic wine selection so order as you please. There are great little tables to the right of the bar next to a very cozy fireplace. This place has one of the nicest public bathrooms I have ever seen. Take the time to find this underground little gem. I think you will be glad you did.

This place is great for a glass of wine! And you get some free nibbles as well while you enjoy your wine! I haven't ate there yet, so I can't comment on the food, but it is perfect for that after work glass of wine.

The Cellar Bar is exactly what you'd imagine... a bar in a cellar. It's nice though. Bear in mind that it's still a bar in a hotel, so it's never going to have the real pub-y atmosphere. The staff are super attentive and there's nuts on the bar. Otherwise there's lots of small little alcoves where you can have a nice quiet drink. Popular for work drinks, Christmas drinks or special occassions.

The authentic Victorian setting, the Victorian mahogany fittings, the mosaic marble tiled floors and granite tabletops, the mahogany bar, capped with red Connemara marble, follows the classic Victorian architectural pattern. The staff are helpful, friendly and patient since their accent is hard to understand sometime. My 1st beer and 1st Irish food, all I can say is what a meal, just simple delish. Tucked down Dame Court just off Dame Street, The Stag's Head is one of those rare pubs that feels genuinely historic rather than designed to look old. The building dates to the late 1800s, and the interior retains the ornate features of a classic Victorian "gin palace"--rich carved wood, stained glass, brass rails, and a warm, glowing bar that feels wonderfully preserved. We stopped in around 4:30 pm, which turned out to be a perfect time to visit. There were other patrons enjoying drinks and food, but the atmosphere was calm and relaxed rather than loud or rowdy. It felt like the kind of place where locals drop in for a quiet pint on their way home from work before the evening crowd arrives. The staff were excellent--friendly, welcoming, and attentive without being intrusive. The food was very good (we failed to take photos because we were too busy enjoying it). As a vegetarian, I was thrilled to see the Impossible burger front and center on their menu; it was deliciously prepared with guacamole on a brioche bun, and not an afterthought on the menu. My companions both chose the Irish Beef Burger, and said it was excellent. One thing to know: this is a traditional Victorian pub, so cocktails aren't really part of the program. Expect beer, wine, or spirits rather than mixed drinks. In a place like this, that actually feels exactly right. Other pubs do serve mixed drinks. Between the history, the ambience, the quality of the food, and the wonderful staff, The Stag's Head is the kind of place that makes you feel like you've experienced a real piece of Dublin.

They are situated in the base of a sister restaurant, so from the main entrance the only give away is the neon "shhh" sign that sits over the stairway. Once at the base of the stairs an unassuming bookcase/shelf appears. This honestly got us, as we had no clue this was the entrance at first. We wandered around and into the bathrooms expecting some cool bathroom stall entrance. It wasn't until someone came out from behind the bookcase that we figured it out! We did let the "door" close and played with the art on the wall, including the bronze pig head, which turned out to be the hidden lever! Legit already wowed before entering! Upon entry, you are legit transported into a small speakeasy with a few high tops, a cozy bar and a small dining room beyond the second archway. The walls are stone, the lighting is dim and moody, the woods are heavy, and the vibes are immaculate! We sampled a few house-made cocktails, got an appetizer and a few main dishes. Spent a total of close to 2 hours, which is standard and actually timed. Which makes sense and I like, it keeps things moving, on time and allows plenty of time to soak it all in! The Jolly Roger and Espresso Martini were my cocktails for the night. There was a clear theme with both, as stout and espresso were highlights in both. For the app, we went with the fritto misto, which is a combination of fried cheese and veggies. Our mains were both pasta dishes. They were light and simple, yet complex and robust. They were tasty and impressive! Service was stellar from entry to exit. The host's, bartenders and our server were all top notch, friendly, helpful and a joy to interact with! Oh, I do highly recommend reservations! They are a small and very in demand spot, so trying to walk-in is a bit risky. Overall, we absolutely loved our evening at The Blind Pig! It was one of our best times and meals on our trip around Ireland...memorable for all the right reasons!

With live music from 10:30 am every day, this is a pub with a party atmosphere all day long. I was amused at how many people popped in, snapped off a quick photo or a 30-second video, and then left without stopping for a drink. Then again, at €8 a pint, and it's one of the more expensive drinks in an already expensive city ( and I did the same in 2-3 pubs), and that's fine. Doesn't matter whether you wanna have food or drink here or not, but I would definitely recommend (in capital letters), have one drink here. Yes, it's expensive (just 3-4 euros more, come on), but the vibe, that's totally worth it. I truly believe, though, that if you're going to experience Dublin, then you can't leave without experiencing Temple Bar.
