Highly recommend visiting if you're in the area. This bar is nicely tucked away from a lot of the tourist destination bars. Look out for the entrance or you might miss it! This place goes by two names, depending on if you are looking at Google Maps, or on Yelp. Google Maps calls it "The Bar With No Name" (and so do it's proprietors in the hotel above). But Yelp calls it "No Name Bar." Late at night, this is the place to be. The music is loud, the place is hoppin', and everyone is movin' and groovin'. It's LOADS of fun, I can't express that enough - but it DOES get packed! If you are staying in Kelly's Hotel up above it, you MUST visit at least once to see what all the fuss is and why your hotel room is rattling until 2 or 3 in the morning. They have DJs playing every Friday and Saturday "from 10pm until late" as it's billed on their website. It's connected to the hotel, so if you are staying there, you can just head down the stairs to enter. From street level, use the entrance with the snail hanging above the black door with the address number of "3" on the door. It's so easy to walk past and not notice it. Well this place had no name, so I was all confused . We found the passage that lead to the restaurant for lunch. Amazing venue that attracts its masses of crowds simply by word of mouth, because it has no name, and as far as I know, does not employ any kind of marketing strategies. The venue is made up of several rooms which all open onto each other, and a pretty cool outdoor section. You really do need to time your visit here, because sometimes there is a huge queue to get in... weeknights are generally a better bet than weekends. You could easily while away an entire evening in the pleasant surrounds of No Name, it has the relaxing and laid-back vibe of a party in someone's living room. Be sure to check out the table in the 'lounge room' part - it is held up by wine bottles - so unbelievably cool! Personally I like to pull up a chair next to one of the large windows and alternate between people watching outside and inside the bar. A fairly well-dressed corporate crowd usually patronises this bar, but as long as you're fairly decently dressed you won't look out of place. Surprisingly the prices aren't too high here (from appearances they could be a lot higher) and you can pick up a lovely glass of wine for 6 euro. And what awesome wine glasses - very chic! read more

I have never had such a bizarre and bad experience eating out. I went here with my friend to celebrate her birthday. Once everyone sat down they took off their masks to eat so I did the same. I ordered the chicken skewers with chips, I am not exaggerating when I say this but that chicken they used was the spicy Deli chicken from Dunne's Stores and I got 2 skewers for a dinner. I was starving afterwards. We ordered a drink roughly every hour. The waitresses kept coming up to us and asking was everything okay which was a bit weird. 2 hours into our dinner/drinks I ordered another round and the waitress asked again and then went off. The manager came up and told us they needed the table. I can understand if I was there for 4 hours but 2? We ordered: 2 x dinners 1 x desert (3 scoops of ice cream) 2x Pina 1 x cider 1 x mojito style cocktail 2 x 7 ups The total was €86 When I got up to leave I was stopped and told to put my mask on. I would have done that anyway, I was just putting my card away. I have eaten in a lot of restaurants across the world and I've never felt like I did something wrong. With the years passing by it was getting busier and busier and the hunt for a good table made it to an obstacle course over busy weekend night and days. The tipsy me, being pursued by my evenly tipsy friend: 'aaaaah, but it's such a nice sunny summer evening, ooooh prosecco is just so refreshing, mmmmmm, it's just what we need', thought it was a splendid idea. Sure, and why not order another bottle when bottle nr. 1 seemed to have gone and drank in the space of about 10 minutes. The Secret Bar, officially named on the owners website. You can access 'The Secret Bar' directly from Kelly's hotel. 'The Secret Bar' is named so, as the bar was never really given a name when it first opened. A number of names have served the bar thus far including 'The Bar With No Name', '3 Fade Street' and 'The Snail Bar' and that's the best way to find it (see photo). Suffice to say, since opening over a year ago, 'The Secret Bar' is anything but a secret. At weekends the bar is particularly busy, serving, artists, rock n rollas...and plethora of others besides. 'The Secret Bar' is famous for its mojitos, and at weekends serves up a mean brunch menu. Depending on your mood this bar can be great if you want to look at other people and prowl or be looked at by other people. If not then this is not the bar for you. Large smoking area at the rear of the bar (which is situated on the 1st floor of what seems to be a number of Georgian houses knocked together). Stayed in the comfortable smoking area for a whole night one of the last times I was there. Not as good idea as I smoked to much and felt poisend the next day. Totally my own fault. read more

I'm here regular enough as some of my friends do seem to like the place. It wouldn't be my first port of call but to each their own. The later it gets, the fuller it gets and the more a-holes it gets. But if you do prefer your collars to be up whilst wearing a polo shirt then you would probably enjoy this. Oh oh oh and one thing that realllly irritates me is the toilet situation. "I need to pee" "OK see ya in twenty minutes!" We fell in love with the stuff in Central America but it's not available just anywhere, which makes us appreciate it all the more. The Bar With No Name is what quick-thinking folk call this pub on Fade Street because it's a bar. With no name. It's otherwise known as The Snail Bar as there's a cute carving of a snail hanging outside. The bar staff are efficient and the smell of freshly crushed mint puts cocktails in mind. The clientele are pretty polite. Three guys motioned for me to order first as I'd been there before them. This would be unheard of in many another busy Dublin watering hole. Drinking in this bar is akin to having a few bevvies in a large, high-ceilinged, atmospherically lit sitting room. People chat in groups and don't bother much with what's going on around them. If mingling is what has you out in your glad rags, head to the sizeable smoking section, which resembles a circus tent. Smokers will approach you for a lighter, or to ask if you think it's possible to pull a muscle whilst eating a salad, or to tell you that when you walked in, the whole landscape of the place changed. I asked if that was some cheesy chat-up line and he apologised for being abstract, wondered if I was pretentious, and offered to smoke the remainder of his cigarette with his back turned... At about one am, we wandered around a few other pubs but that seductive snail trail led us right back where we finished off our night in this mysterious untitled bar. read more

For once in my life I joined some co-workers for post work drinks on a weeknight! I had heard of no name but had no preconceptions or idea what to expect and yet I was pleasantly surprised. When you walk in and up the stairs it does not look like much but it is a beautifully decorated bar both inside and in the beer garden (they also have a giant big made out of wood and I was instantly in love) They have gluten free beer here (Daura) which is always nice! I did not have any food but the stuff I saw coming out of the kitchen smelled great and the presentation was on point AND they had a lady walk around offering people pretzels, not the little dry ones but real pretzels (damn you gluten). I used to always come here at night for drinks, and complain how crowded it is. But, did you know they serve brunch? Did you also know that it is one of the best brunches in Dublin? This might be Dublin's best kept secret, and I have just revealed it so listen up. The food here is delicious. My friends always order the pancakes, and I go for the eggs florentine with salmon. They have delicious guinness brown bread that I can have a full loaf of. They also do a roast of the day. Every time I tell the waiter I will order it next time, and every time I don't, and every time I get jealous of the table next door who orders it. Speaking of the staff, they are so friendly, and they remember you each time. Who needs that one place on Harcourt's reservations, or even that other one on George's street's reservations? Ah, 3 Fade Street. Or The Bar with No Name, Kelly's, The Snail Bar: whatever you choose to call it, it's a wonderful place, with excellent cocktails and one of the finest outdoor areas in the city. Really, there are two versions of this bar: the quiet weeknight bar and the insanely packed weekend one. On a weeknight, this place is the perfect venue for high-quality mixed drinks from skilled and knowledgeable staff. Odds are they can make your cocktail, whether it's on the menu or not. On one occasion, a friend was served slightly different versions of the same drink by different staff members- and one gets the impression that that's because the well-trained staff might have different ideas on how to practice their craft. The outdoor terrace is usually pretty calm during the week, and is perfect for a quiet summer drink. Weekends, though, are a different beast. On Friday and Saturday nights, the bar is packed to the rafters with young professionals, and while the same quality bar service exists, it's under a lot more pressure, and it might simply be easier to stick to quickly-poured pints by the time you fight your way to the bar. There's little chance of a seat, and you might find yourself outside whether you like it or not (but the covered, heated area is well equipped for shelter). Luckily, the atmosphere is fantastic when the bar is this full. The tight confines of the bar make it very sociable in a crowded sort of way, and for some reason, it works well in a way that so many other busy spots just don't manage. So, pick your poison: midweek quiet cocktails or a frantic and fantastic Saturday night. Either way, if you haven't been here, it's time to correct that. (And I prefer to call it Kelly's). read more

I loved having a pint at the Bar With No Name. It's perfectly located if you're in the city centre since it's only a 2 minute walk from Grafton St. You'll probably be surprised by the layout since the place is basically an old hotel that has had a lot of the furniture ripped out (at least that's what my impression was). The layout is nice and there seems to be a few areas where large groups can hang out. Overall the atmosphere was pretty mellow since I was there on a Tuesday night but can imagine it gets packed on a weekend. Will definitely head here again next time I'm in Dublin. read more

I learned about this place from Yelp, and was dying to check it out after reading the glowing reviews. It sounded just like my kind of place, hip, low-key, good vibes, etc. When I finally did stop in, I enjoyed myself but was somehow let down. I thought the layout was good, and the seating was excellent. I imagine on a Friday or Saturday you'd want to arrive early to snag a spot though. The outdoor patio was fantastic and on my second visit there was a live band entertaining out there. The prices aren't low, but normal for the area; a glass of white wine and a pint of Paulaner cost 11.50 for example. The vibe is chill and the atmosphere is nice. You probably won't find a ton of 18 year-olds with big heels and bigger hair queuing up for this place, which is probably why a lot of people love it. So what's not to like? Well it's hard to put my finger on. I guess I just felt like they could have done more with such an interesting space. Instead if feels like they took an empty room, put a bar and some furniture in it, hung some (really ugly) light installations on the walls and threw up the open sign. I like the Snail Bar for weeknights. It's the perfect place to go for casual drinks and conversation. In my mind, it's always a sure thing with good music levels and nice seating. The terrace is lovely for groups too. What is with that giant wooden pig carving? On Saturday nights the place was packed so if you're up for a crowd it's probably great then too. Managed by reputed Brazilian mixologist, Mr. Rafael Agapito, the cocktail list is professional and cool. The bar itself is built in an old style, high-ceilinged apartment so consists of a few rooms. They also have a large-ish covered smoking garden with heaters during the winter. The staff are friendly and professional but have that edge of coolness too which gives this place it's finer quality and attrats the beautiful chic crowd it holds. We were on a pub crawl where everyone wanted to try somewhere new so this place came up as a suggestion and we went for it. Guaranteed you will pass this place many time before realizing the random door can open to a stair case where you go to the second floor and there it is. The cool, trendy space known as no name bar. It has the perfect amount of people in there as well as it isn't touristy so people there have to have heard about it somewhere! Conveniently directly across from an equally trendy tapas restaurant, this location is great. The drink was typical Dublin prices around €5.50 a pint. They do cash back. They have a huge selection of wine, beer, spirits and the space was awesome. We sat at the bar in the side room but there was a large smoking area, a lot of smaller rooms to have an intimate drink or a girls night as well as a large main room with lots of couches. I went there yesterday (Aug. 24, 2014) with two friends for Brunch. We liked the original setting and although the place was empty, we were glad to settle in. However, after looking at the menu, we ended up leaving since we did not find even one vegetarian option (e.g., a vegetable omelette; how hard is that?) among the ten brunch options they offered. I politely explained to the waiter (a pleasant chap) why we ended up leaving and that would have been it if it wasn't for the intervention of one of the other employees, a lady who appeared to be a manager or supervisor of the bar. She behaved in the rudest way i have yet encountered in an Irish restaurant: upon hearing that i left because they had no vegetarian brunch option, she waved her arms at me dismissively saying scornfully 'then go somewhere else... go, go, good luck finding it in another place' and more... The issue isn't that they don't have a vegetarian option; the issue is that an employee (manager?!) chose to go out of her way to insult a customer; as far as i could tell, this could have happened for any of many reasons. Gorgeous bar that resemble a lot like a house hosting a party. The smoker's lounge has a quite "circus" vibe, with its striped roof and rustic walls, and the other rooms definetely reminds us of a real house, just with less furniture. It's pretty crowded on weekends, so I would recommend you to avoid those days so you can actually see the decor and just chill out there, it's definitely worth a visit! I would recommend attending it with a date or some close friends, because the place is really amazing to just chill and talk to your friends, because it's quite a nice spot, not a party hard place. but... since nothing is perfect... the drinks there are quite expensive, so if you are in a budget, (which happens to me all the time), take one drink or maybe two. the pints are temple-bar priced, which is not cheap but still cheaper than the cocktails/shots. read more

The ambiance in No Name was ideal for brunch... lots of natural lighting, high ceilings, couches and large tables. Though things starting going down hill quickly after arrival. The service was slow. Like, slower than slow considering there were only four other tables eating brunch. The menu looked delicious, with all food done up by L'Gueleton downstairs, so I was hoping this would redeem the slow service. Unfortunately, the slow service proved to be the nail in the coffin. It took one hour to receive the food, which was cold by the time it arrived. Items came out in batches (a solid five minutes between plates). I could hear the couple next to us complain that they had been there even longer than we had and hadn't received their order (which led me to believe that they had been cryogenically frozen and then thawed because we had been there forever). The staff, while rhetorically pleasant, were less than concerned about the speed with which things arrived and forgetful. All in all... it was disappointing. Who wants cold poached eggs when there are so many other great places to brunch? Not this girl. I won't be brunching here again. read more

I know this place as the snail bar and I love it. It's different from all the other bars in Dublin and really it's just like having a few drinks in someones trendy house. Its supposedly one of the best kept secrets in town but judging from the crowds over the last few weekends, the secrets been let out. You'll have to get there early to get a seat but there's usually plenty of standing room. I love the layout of the bar with numerous spots to rest your drink and have a chat with friends, the staff are great and very friendly, the prices are a bit steep but the music is good. They might need to put some decorations on the Xmas trees though. They were a bit bare last weekend. read more
