Seating is tight, eve for a duo after 9pm- so be prepared to stand or hover over a spot if people look like they are leaving soon. Cocktails are nice but rather expensive, even for big city standards, for a beer and an old fashioned it ran us about €14, the cocktail being €11 on its own. Staff was friendly, but curt. Would I go out of my way if in Dublin again? Probably not unless I had a reason to. read more

I had heard of "The bar with no name" and that it was like having a pint in a sitting room. When I got there I discovered it's much cooler than that. I heard that it was just an empty apartment above the restaurant and because the queues were so big, they decided to open the bar. It's very trendy, has a funky crowd and is one of the cool places to go at the moment. This is probably my favourite bar in the city. It has an awesome smoking area that is fully covered and rustic bare walls - for some reason it feel circus like circus. All the furniture is extremely comfy when you get a chance to sit on it, because it's always so packed. The staffs are pretty cool, and the tunes are varying in awesomeness. This is one of the coolest bars I've ever been to. I'm normally one for elaborate reviews, but words can't really paint the picture because there is nothing much else like this place. You've got to check it out if you're in Dublin. I had a pint here in the afternoon, and it was laid back, but I went with a friend around 11pm the next night and had the time of our lives. If you were a hip trend-y bar that opened just as the Celtic Tiger were going over a cliff and then ended up as a modern equivalent of a pub - a quiet place to have a nice drink, just with modern lighting and all blond wood, you'd be the no name bar. They have: Guinness (€4.80) Smithwick's Paulaner A range of crappy lagers A big range of cocktails. wifi for free, though it's a bit annoying as it's the kind you need to get the code from the bar guy and log in each time - come on! Now, here's the thing I love about this place, beyond the mismatched chairs and the simple tables which all add up to a little tatty, a little IKEA, but a little kind of cool: the cocktails. I haven't had them, but this is how they read: Negroni Tom Collins Old Fashioned See what I've done there? They don't havea "Negroski, which is our house take on the Negroni, using artisanal vodka made from unicorn tears". They just have normal bloody cocktails, which are harder and harder to find. Negroni: Martini Rosso, Campari, Gin. That's it. The staff are nice & reasonably efficient. The crazy Jameson painting behind the bar sort of needs to go, though. read more

Never had a good night here. It must be six years ago at this stage, I remember going here and being all 'Oh my goodness this is like something from Sex and The City'...and looking back I think my Marketing and Commerce friends may have had a point about us science heads being a little less than cool. Since my first few visits I've been maybe once a year. It's always one drink (not sure more is worth the price) and then I just get tired of the place. The Bar With No Name. So good they named it once. When this place opened, I would often go there with a mate after work on a Friday and have a few drinks in somewhere different to what we'd grown used to. And then the cool people started to find out about it and I no longer felt like I belonged. The kind of people that started to frequent it were the kind of people I love to loathe for trying so hard to look like they don't try. It does get a bonus point for the night I had there where we managed to convince this girl (that had taken a shine to one of the lads) that we were in fact a boyband and that he was the token gay boybander, which he played up like a pro. It snowballed from a humorous quip and made for a most enjoyable hour or two. But apart from that the bar is a bit sh1t. read more

I love this place. A friend took me here a while back and I just revisited it with another friend. Part of what makes it so wonderful is the very circus themed smoking area which, as far as I am concerned every bar in Dublin needs. Why are there so many staff in this bar? I ordered a Bulmers and a gnt and two people fulfilled my order! They don't serve southern comfort or fanta here so when I went to quench my craving for this drink, the barman was apologetic but also engaged in some banter. It's nice that at least the staff are sound! I've always enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere here and the beer garden/smoking area is lovely. This used to be my favourite place for a Saturday brunch. I went here almost every weekend, but as tends to happen, my friends and I eventually grew tired of the menu. I hadn't been here for months when I finally ventured up the stairs again on a Friday afternoon and was delighted to see that nothing has changed. The spacious bar still has the same friendly service, good mojitos and easy-going buzz. And not to forget the smoking garden with the heaters and the tables and the perfect setting to meet up with a group of friends for a few drinks while trying to decide what to do with the rest of the night. The No Name Bar (apparently previously known as Snail Bar - the wooden sign above the entrance refers to this) is located in the heart of Dublin, close to other well-known places such as Hogan's or The Market Bar, which lies directly oppposite to this Bar. However, the No Name Bar has an exceptional style, so much different from all those "bling bling" style places that Dublin is overflown with. It actually looks like a giant classy apartment living room featuring high ceilings and windows and even a fireplace. The audience is mixed, you'll see students and professionals peacefully united here. For Dublin, prices are reasonable, you'll get your pint of Guinness for 4,50€. The most awful place in Dublin city centre ever!!! We dropped in at this place last Saturday. It was overcrowded inside and it smelled, sorry, of spew. We decided to go to the terrace to have just one drink. We waited for our cocktails for ages, which by the way tasted below the average. We just started to drink them as one security guard approached one guy from us, grasped him in a rude manner and chucked him out of the bar. To say that we were shocked is to say nothing because our guy was all the time with us, wasn't drunk and didn't commit anything unacceptable. We all left our drinks and went out to find out the reason. But, when we asked each security guard (it were 3 of them) for explanations, we weren't given any answer. These gorillas just were standing silent looking at us and than asked us all to leave. What????!!!!! WTF!!?? For the moment I couldn't believe it all is happening in Europe, in Ireland. I don't understand why this place with such a poor service and staff who doesn't respect its guests is so popular? Probably they think because of a advantageous location they can forget about hospitality, quality of service and drinks and take guests for granted. Not so much a secret, the bar with many names seems to have settled into being the no name bar. It can get quite crowded on weekend nights. I've only ever gone for a night out here twice but enjoyed both times. Great mojito and you're not left waiting half the night for it like in other bars that pride themselves on doing great cocktails. I've been on a number of occasions for brunch at the weekend and always enjoyed it. It's never packed so you're guaranteed a seat. Eggs benedict is a fine big portion and amazing value. Their sausage with egg and homefries is top notch too. And if you're suffering from a hangover then get the chips with garlic aioli too. Their ginger beer mojito is a good refreshing non-alcoholic choice too. Could do with extending the dessert selection a bit but that would be my only gripe! read more

OK, I'm conflicted on this place. Midweek, I think its a cool bar with enough room and just the right side of trendy to not be too pretentious, but its a thin line. The No Name Bar, Snail Bar, Apartment Bar, or whatever name you choose to give it, is one of the hottest bars in Dublin in recent times. I've been here twice in the past week. Last Saturday I was here for a friend's birthday, and the place was rammed to the rafters. Last night (Thursday) was slightly quieter, but there were still no seats to be had. There's a great atmosphere, and a really mixed clientele, from suited business men who've come straight from the office, to arty folk, grungy types and funky fashionistas. The beer garden is the best in Dublin - a huge, heated area with comfy benches and lovely second-hand garden furniture, covered by a stripy circus-tent awning ringed with fairy lights. I would never had take the chance to enter this pub if my colleague did not tell me it's a cool place. First it had no name, as you can see or should I say the originality is that the place is the place with no name :) You go up some stairs and there you are: in a lovely bar with a massive cocktails list on the wall , some cool music not too loud, just what you need to get you in the ambiance and an outside terrace, where we sat because it was a lovely and warm weather in Dublin (yes it does happen :) My colleagues ordered 2 beers, I choose a cocktail so 3 drinks for 17 euros... Wahoo that's cheap (especially where you use to go out in Paris!) We spend a nice time in the bar, the people are lovely and even if my cocktails was not as good as what I can drink in a speak easy or a proper cocktail bar, I was not disappointed and could go for another one but hey, it was Tuesday! So maybe when I am back for the week end, it would get crazy trying lots of different drinks and go on the dance floor in the bar with no name :) read more

I was there just within the first two weeks when I moved to Dublin for a year. My work colleagues told me it would be a cool, hip bar - and to some extend, yes it is. It is basically a big 1st floor apartment without doors. It has some flair, it is more bar than pub. But then, like every bar, it is crowded and it is definitely a weekend spot. Good craic on a Thursday night but I'm not sure how Bar with No Name would fare on a weekend. The interior is quite cool, set up like a trendy apartment meant to mimic rooms in a house. Lots of standing room, not a lot of seats and quite noisy so depending on what you're looking for, this may or may not suit you. Full of hipsters and slightly pretentious clientele. Drinks are moderately priced and a decent selection. With the standing room and setup of the bar, I can imagine weekends are packed, everyone squished together like sardines but toughing it out so on Monday they can go back to work and tell all of their friends "Yea, I was at Bar with No Name at the weekend and it was awesome". I'd go again for a few drinks out, but I'd prefer a place where I can sit, have a conversation and relax over a refreshing pint. read more

Nice bar with a decent crowd. I've often gone during the day on a Saturday and had a great time here. It feels like you're in someone's house, which is pretty interesting. They really need bigger bathrooms though, I reckon the men's jax is somewhat like a prison cell in Alcatraz. I usually end up spending half the night queuing for a leak. I was in the No. name Bar last night with about 7 friends from school. We were well dressed, pretty sober, polite and ordered our drinks in rounds from a kitty. We are a pretty tame bunch to be honest. I was with a friend at the bar when he ordered a round of drinks. The barmaid slapped the drinks down in front of him, spilling some drink on him. Not a word of apology from her. My friend then pointed out to her that she had spilled drink on him. He wasn't looking for a replacement drink, just the common courtesy of an acknowledgement that he'd been splashed. her reaction?" Do you want you money back or what!". My friend replied that an apology would do upon which she called security over and had him slung out. Needless to mention the rest of us stood up and walked out with him. Disgraceful behaviour.
