Avoid. You've been warned. Came here with my family for lunch. The lobster bisque, lobster roll, and fried seafood platter was disgusting. Upon entering the restaurant, the smell of urine and wet rugs was overwhelming. I'm being generous with the 1 star rating because there's no option for zero stars. read more

We went early this Saturday evening - 5:30 seating - and got seated immediately by the windows overlooking the ferry. The bar was a bit loud as we came in but was unnoticeable once we were seated. Our waitress was cheery and dealt with my spouse's special needs (no fat) with aplomb and even figured out to leave the croutons off the salad without prompting. As noted elsewhere, the prices are a bit steep ($31 for my mixed seafood and the same for the scrod) but you're paying for the location & ambiance. Would I go back? Sure. But it's not a 'must return'. read more

We had a group of 5 that enjoyed the view of the docks and harbor from a window table. The food and service were excellent. 4 of us had our New England lobster fix satisfied as we were all visiting from other states, while the 5th person enjoyed the shrimp. The drinks and appetizers gave the evening a great start and, while we were too full for any dessert, our experience was completed with a visit from Jimmy, the owner, who is a delightful person and very appreciative that we had chosen Landfall for our meal. I assured him that we will definitely come back on our next visit to Woods Hole. John N. - Hunt, TX read more

Great bar tenders, great bar, great back deck. This place is extremely unique and well priced.

Great view, the food is just ok, but realy expensive. Good place for cocktails.

Management extremely rude. Poor service. Bartender refused service. And also rude. Please think twice before patronizing this establishment. Not worth the price of admission. read more

Had a large family dinner here. We had reservations and were seated on time. Waitress was great with prompt drink and food orders. Then it all went downhill. Took over 1 hr from the time we ordered till we got our food. Many of us ordered the lobster dinner for $40. Menu stated that the lobster would be between 1.25-1.5 lbs. We are all native New Englanders and expected a lobster, as promised. What we all got were "deconstructed" lobsters. Got a plate of pieces and parts which were NOT New England lobster. And, the tiny tail and 1 claw, yes folks 1....last I checked lobsters had 2 claws....were not close to 1 lb. We were all so disappointed, and frankly, shocked that a Cape Cod restaurant would serve something so off base on a staple menu item. The topper was that 3 of us returned our plates of parts because the claw was raw inside. Cold and goey. Tail was overcooked. Waitress was great, took them back, said she showed them to the manager and took them off our bill. We opted to not try again because, even if it was cooked well, this was not a lobster dinner. The others in our party who ordered them were similarly disappointed and wished they too had returned them. Our party of 14 comes every year. We will not be back. Any restaurant in the Cape which sells a lobster dinner, and then tries to pass of misc pieces and parts for $40 is deliberately ripping people off. read more

Landfall - Seafood Near Me - Woods Hole, Massachusetts

Wonderful view. Very romantic. Over priced. Best French onion soup ever. Oysters were really good. Would have given 5 stars but my chicken pesto wasn't that good. read more

Early season visit to Landfall waiting for the ferry. Had some of the fish bites and new offering draft beer. Fish bites were good as always and considering they're frozen, a very good quick bite. The suggested draft was excellent. The only drawback is the "cheater glass" which has a thicker deep base that is 2 ounces short, making it a 10 ounce pour, not a 12 ounce as you would think you're paying for. A regular 12 ounce bottle wouldn't fit in the glass. It was a good food and drink quick hit visit for the early season, before the crowds arrive. I'll stick with bottles in the future. read more

I've gone to Landfall for years, and have recommended it in the past, but was truly disappointed after my last visit. When I settled my bar tab, a friend paid the tip in cash and I simply signed my receipt with cash inside the book. When I checked my bank statement a few days later, the bartender had not only taken the cash, but added gratuity to my bar tab as well! I won't be going back to the Landfall again. read more

Never again. I hate starting a review this way but I will never even entertain the idea of going here again. Our party of six, four adults and two teenagers were seated for dinner. The bar staff and cocktails were very good. Unfortunately that is the only positive thing I have to say. As an appetizer,I ordered a stuffed quahog which was recommended because others in the party had them before at other restaurants on the Cape and enjoyed them a lot. The quahog I ordered came out and was cold in the center. Not cool to the touch but cold. I'm sure they are pre-made and heated as needed but mine was absolutely cold. When I informed the server she asked me if I wanted it heated up and I politely said no and I chose not to order another appetizer. The stuffed quahog was only 450 on the menu so it was no big loss. I still had a nice view even though we didn't have a window seat. The problem came when my wife's meal came out raw. She ordered the broiled seafood platter and on top of her "broiled " seafood plate the shrimp was still gray. We make seafood at home quite often and shrimp is one of our favorite dishes so we are familiar with what cooked shrimp looks like. Even in the candlelit low light table we could tell the seafood in this broiled dish was not cooked. My wife did send her meal back and have it cooked. A simple broiled seafood plate should come out cooked. It was not very busy in the restaurant at all so I doubt the kitchen staff was overwhelmed. Clearly whoever sent the dish out of the kitchen had no idea what they were doing. My meal, the fried seafood plate was average at best. The batter lacked any crispy texture and was soggy. I was also surprised at the lack of scallops from the plate. I didn't really look at the menu but when I saw fisherman's platter I just assumed there would be a couple fried scallops. The menu doesn't have fried scallops on the fisherman's platter I'm from the North Shore and just about every fisherman's platter at seafood restaurants usually has at least a few scallops on the plate. At the end of the meal we did asked to talk to a manager to express our disappointment with the appetizer and my wife's uncooked seafood. The person who claimed to be the manager was also the same person who seated us earlier in the evening. She was in her late teens to early 20s and from her answers to our questions and concerns she clearly had no management experience. We only wanted management to know about our concerns of serving raw seafood to customers. At that point we paid the check and left. There were 6 of us and the average price for our dinners was around $33. With the addition of appetizers and beverages the bill was over $250 In conclusion, I left the restaurant feeling that it was a overpriced tourist trap that had a decent view but not much else. With all the choices in that area of Cape Cod, I felt we made the poorest decision of all. read more

Food sucked, and is overpriced. I loved the setting/atmosphere though! I ordered a salmon ceasar salad and it came out looking like it was ordered from Mcdonalds. I wasn't impressed with the look of the salad, or the odd looking salmon filet on top. It seemed barely cooked, not sure if they baked it?? But I was expecting a fresh, blackened, crispy delicious piece of salmon.. and what I recieved was a sad wattery mess. Barely edible. But I will say the restaurant itself was beautiful and in a great location. The service was okay, drinks were fine. If to want a fun place to get drinks I think this place is great, but I would skip the food, save your money and eat elsewhere. read more

Walked into the bar and was completely ignored by the bartender. After more than 5 minutes of watching him serve others who came in after me I left. read more

Embarrassingly bad food. Incredibly bland, soggy fish, everything we tried was disappointing.

I've been here a few times while in town for business. I'm not sure about the hours because finding them open has been pretty hit-or-miss for me, maybe just due to the seasonal schedules. I didn't love their seafood dishes, they're pretty overpriced. Their fish bites, wings and cheeseburger club are fantastic. I've found it most comfortable to sit at the bar or on the front patio and have a drink or two with dinner. The dining room is definitely set up for parties of 4 or more, not comfortable for a single person. Bartenders are great! read more

Overpriced. Bland. Disinterested staff. I was so disappointed in this place. Seafood Newburg was drowned in a lackluster, flavorless sauce with oil resting on the top. There was a good amount of swordfish in the dish, but that too was devoid of flavor. The hostess seemed annoyed that we were there and didn't smile. Our waitress was ok but simply went through the motions. A total disappointment and I wouldn't go back. Too bad because the location is nice. read more

While the view is nice and the ambience genuine, if you want value or a culinary experience, go somewhere else. The menu had little more than fried or broiled seafood, and the entrees were all very pricey ($31 for scrod to $39 for lobster). For rather small portions and nothing special dishes, this restaurant was a big disappointment. read more

Really nice place on the water. Friendly staff and clean environment, feels almost like an old boathouse. Entres are pricey, but the way it soothes the pallet is PRICELESS. I didn't check out the lavatory, but I'd put money down that it's clean. I love the cape, and I love fish, but most importantly, my love for this Landfall is 4 stars worth. read more

Had a 6 PM Sunday reservation 2 weeks ago for the 2 for one specials.. The hostess informed us they were out of lobster & certain sea food plates. We should have left then as I was pretty upset. My wife said let's give it a try. Went to our table, figured we'd have a cocktail & look over the menu. The waitress told us they were out of this, this, this & that. Frustrated, we got up & left. I apologized to the waitress. This is advertised every year in the local paper. This shouldn't happen, I don't care what time of year it is. A few years ago we went for 2 for 1 & ordered baked stuffed lobster (my fave). Enjoyed the meal and the bill came with full charge for Two We complained, and the Owner came to our table & sat down & proceeded to tell how much the price of lobster was & it should have been excluded from the ad & it was the papers fault. Tough s..., that's not our fault. We got our 2 for 1 meal. Should have learned my lesson then. We eat downtown all the time now. read more

Tasty food along the harbor in woods hole. Good spot to get some grub before-after-middle of your bike ride along the shining sea bike way. Plenty of bike parking. The big knock on this place, I think, is that it is a bit expensive for what it is. But the atmosphere is nice. read more

We stopped in for lunch. The atmosphere was amazing! I had a salad and my love, ciabatta sandwich with a side salad. The food was tasty, review would've been better if the staff wasn't at a nearby table bickering, eating, and rolling silverware... no customer service, no refills or another beer, just drop off food, drop off check. Rude and unfriendly... scenery was nice right on the water.. hopefully the staff was having an off day. read more

Lousy food. Ordered calamari and onion rings - the calamari was average, and the onion rings were flavorless and under-cooked. I'd imagine that they get a lot of traffic because of their location. read more

wow. if I didn't live clear across the country I would come here all the time! we were in Falmouth for a wedding, and the rehearsal dinner was held at Landfall. I was really looking forward to some delicious local seafood and it was even better than I had anticipated! first of all, the location is fantastic; the view was stunning--pink sunset on glassy water. the ambiance was great--fun mix of locals and tourists at the bar, and really cute, kind of kitchy decor. and lastly, but most importantly, the food and drinks were fantastic. loved the fresh-squeezed juice cocktails and my fried clams (with bellies) were super sweet and fresh. yum. read more

Best food, location, and service I've had in Woods Hole. I'd give it 10 stars if possible!

Ripoff and terrible customer service! Ordered broiled scrod ($17). Piece of fish was smaller than the palm of my hand. Complained to server. Nothing happened. Server presented check - I asked who she spoke to. The Manager. On the way out I asked the manager - she denied knowing anything. When pushed she said she knew we were "upset". The place was not very busy but clearly being "upset" did not deserve the manager's attention. Manager then said nothing to do with her - it was all down to the food manager in the kitchen. We have made a habit over the years of visiting Woods Hole and stopping for something to eat at the Landfall. Never had an issue. They are now stiffing the customers with micro size portions to inflate their profits and ignoring complaints because they know the majority of customers are tourists and unlikely to be repeat business. Do yourself a favor and find someplace else to eat. read more

Don't go for the food, go for the drinks. Order something with citrus and get freshly-squeezed juice. Also, check out most Friday and/or Saturday nights during the summer for good, local music. read more

The restaurant has a beautiful view and is the local watering hole for both tourists and locals. If you want to learn about all things Woods Hole, go there in the summer evening and find a really salty looking guy and start a conversation. The food there is nothing special and can be expensive. One notable exception is the fish bite during happy hours, it's 20 cents a piece, and it's really good. That means you have a whole meal for $3 with changes left for beer. read more

Wish I could have given more stars but pretty much totally disappointing. Server and a food item just terrible. This review mostly slams the service though. Our second visit. 1st was a few years ago and fabulous. Our experience last Thurs. not so much. Arrived about 5 PM, seated stat with great view but neglected for quite a bit of time despite some staff just 'hanging around'. Our server's name? Unknown: she never said. She was not very welcoming/friendly. Deficiencies: when asked if they make a mango mojito she said 'I don't think so. No ever asked before' (what?), brought wrong beer 2nd round & forgot 3rd. Had to go back and giggled about forgetting. When our stuffed quahog appy was not eaten (just awful tasting. Too much vinegar) she commented, we said we both didn't like it but she didn't apologize (which is not mandatory but tip enhancing words for her) or try to make restitution. (We got charged for it too. $4.25. Really? should've been no charge. At their $$$$, we should have been comped something too.), she took a plate off table without asking if finished (we weren't), never asked if we wanted dessert. Our entrees were good and we like the decor but our experience was a bust. We watched in envy how the server for the table next to us was so on point too. All over the table. Our girl should take a lesson from her. read more

Best drinks on the Cape. Fresh fruit juice. Great bar tenders and owners. Skip the food. It would be 5 stars for drinks, views. Food is average. read more

Service was very inattentive and disinterested, food was bland and unappealing and hostess/manager was absolutely terrible. If this place was not in this type of setting with a view and steady stream of unknowing tourists, it would fail, going down in flames. This is definitely not worth the money - avoid at all costs. The view is free outside and is a lot friendlier. read more

Terrific lunch. The scrod was out of this world delicious and fresh. Excellent service, friendly, and efficient.

My family and I have been living in Falmouth for close to 15 years. The unfortunate decline of the Landfall finally came full circle this evening. We had a reservation for 8:30, arrived at 8:00 and was not sat till 9:15. Sure, I get it, sometimes tables don't turn as quickly as anticipated but there was no apology or offer to make it right. Once we were sat, we were promptly served our alcoholic beverages and appetizers which were actually phenomenal. We had onion rings (delicious), chowder, and quahogs. All very good. We then proceeded to wait another 45 minutes for our dinner and WATER! Dinner finally came, and it was mediocre at best. The $40 1.5 pound lobster was fine but it's very hard to mess up boiled lobster, the $32 chicken francaise was arguably the worst dish we've tried in a long time. The $36 broiled seafood platter came with a weird white butter sauce on top that was clearly made of cream. The seafood was ok but the whole point of a broiled dish is to avoid the crap that goes into the fried seafood. Needless to say, it was one of the worst meals we've had in a long time, food was bad, and the service was even worse. I highly doubt we'll ever be back. read more

Great food and very fun specials; even though it's a little pricey you get the atmosphere at a discount. 2.5 stars would be more accurate. Way over-priced for small portions, but those portions do taste good. Also, you can get tables looking directly out onto the ocean; fresh air and sunlight will roll over your table, which is great. Lots of desserts, if you have any kind of sweet tooth. read more

As always, the Landfall deserves high marks for their water views. Get there early (before 6:00) on a Monday through Wednesday if you want a water table. Go before 3 p.m. to take advantage of the lunch menu...after 3 the entrees are over priced...$37 for fried scallops is outrageous. It's not a 5 star restaurant. The steamer appetizer for $18 is a disgrace. read more

Total disappointment. Very expensive for very little food. Wait staff was friendly. Bar smelled like they haven't cleaned it in months. A little bleach would go a long way. Now about the food. I had fish and chips and my lovely lady had the lobster roll. A tiny piece of fish and a few French fries was mediocre at best. The $25 lobster roll looked like something you expect from McDonald's. My girl said it wasn't cold and very bland. We left there feeling hungry, disappointed and ripped off. I certainly don't mind blowing a hundred bucks on a couple of meals if I leave feeling satisfied, but seriously, I needed to go find more food after leaving. And I'm only a 170 lb guy. Also, right on the drink menu it states "plenty of free parking" I am calling BS on this. The guy wouldn't let us park in the lot because we didn't have reservations. I told him we were going to the bar and going to eat meals. He still said no. So I had to find parking and pay for it. This place would be out of business if it was located anywhere else. I'm sure the owner doesn't care because there will always be another tourist to rip off and fill his pockets. Find someplace else to eat, you will be glad you did. read more

This place charges top dollar for its million dollar view. But the view is where the good stuff ends. Average entrée prices are in the $33-$45 range which would be fine if the food was any good. The menu is so limited and boring that one must merely "settle" for an entrée rather than choose one. Zero imagination. I imagine that the kitchen crew is comprised of high schoolers on summer break without any culinary supervision to be found. I had the Seafood Newburg ($33) which I just realized was suppose to have lobster in it but it didn't have any at all! The swordfish bits in it were trim and bloodline (most of which I left on my bread plate but my server didn't acknowledge it upon clearing) accompanied by 2 shrimp. The linguine was so overcooked it barely held its shape. The bread served was sliced (store bought) sandwich bread. But what really irked me was the commercial grade salad dressing. For the amount of money charged they can't at least serve a home made bleu cheese dressing? Nope. It was that gummy, viscous gruel that comes out of a gallon jug. I grew up on the Cape and there are lots of great seafood restaurants with much better food. These guys are just taking advantage of the tourists coming and going from the ferry. Epic Failure. Shame on them. Save your money and eat elsewhere. read more
