Reasonable prices (a bit more than the Kidd, but then again, I wasn't drinking PBR). It was nice to sit outside on the dock and just talk with friends. This really is a great restaurant, in this very small town. Wonderful atmosphere, but our waiter was a bit expressionless. I've actually been a few times and I just have to say the lobster is always 4 stars. Usually the meal comes with garlic bread, salad and side potato (garlic mash, baked, or fries. We also had a couple of vegetarians in the group and they were very accommodating. I only mention this because for such a small town, I'm sure they don't get that many request, so they were eager to please. It's defiantly one of the more expensive restaurants in town, but they also have a really fun bar and its open fairly late too. FYI woodshole, is very seasonal, so you might want to give them a call and check on the hours, might also be good to make reservations if you have a large group. Wish I had gotten photos but-- you won't be disappointed. First off, get the fish bites-- perfectly fried, not greasy, and super tasty and the tartar sauce that comes with it is so lemony good. Wish I had gotten a dozen more. Think crispy fish and chips.... Except better. I got the swordfish landfall style for my main and the fish was cooked well and was super tasty with the hollandaise and asparagus, which had a nice bite. Stopped in for dessert on a Friday night in October. Enjoyed the nautical atmosphere and sitting by the water. The summer berry cobbler was outstanding, and the hot fudge sundae was satisfying. Alan and I had Mother's Day brunch here today. He made 11:30 reservations. We found parking on Water Street and walked down to the restaurant. There's a parking lot around the corner from the restaurant that's free w/ validation but no one came out to take the car when we pulled in and we didn't want to risk a $25 parking fee if we just left the car so we pulled out of the lot and turned onto Water, where we found our parking spot. The story on the back of the menu says there was nothing there before the restaurant was built in the mid 1940s. It opened June 22, 1946. A framed newspaper clipping on the wall announcing the restaurant's opening tells a slightly different story. The building housing the restaurant was a woman's house. Mr. Estes bought and remodeled the house, enlarging the kitchen to 4 times its original size and taking out the walls downstairs to create the dining room. The story on the menu says the wood used was boards from old shipwreck and lumber from houses that had been torn down. It gave the provenance of several windows and described the various objects hanging from the ceiling from lobster traps to buoys to an ancient Greek amphora that had been brought up by a Greek fisherman. The building is a joy, even before you eat any of the food. The restaurant is now owned by Mr. Estes' sons. As you might expect on Mother's Day, there were multi-generational groups as well as solitary senior couples. One group was celebrating a birthday. Alan had coffee and I had tea to drink, but others were drinking wine, beer and cocktails. We looked over the menu and the specials menu. Alan decided on fish and chips made w/ haddock. I chose a Nobska salad comprised of romaine lettuce, strawberries, blueberries, honey roasted pecans and feta cheese w/ a balsamic vinaigrette for $15 and added lobster salad to it for another $13. Alan thought his fish and chips were good but not exceptional and I would agree. The bite of haddock I tasted was fresh and moist but the dish didn't rival the fish and chips we've had in England and New Zealand. My salad, on the other hand, was the stuff that dreams are made of. The lobster salad was sweet and so lightly dressed the dressing, if any, was imperceptible. The balsamic vinaigrette was served on the side and I avoided putting it on the lobster, just poured it lightly on the Nobska salad surrounding it. You know how when you order something and it turns out to be perfection? I was congratulating myself (silently) throughout the meal for ordering what I did. I shared bites of lobster and strawberries w/ Alan and he was impressed too. I would say we'd return and order another, but I know you can't step in the same river twice, so if we do return I will order something else. As you leave the restaurant there's a large bowl of colorful mints w/ a spoon to serve yourself so people aren't digging their fingers into the bowl as used to happen. I agree with other reviewers that you are paying for the view, and not the food. Our server was very good, friendly, efficient, and accommodating. I had the baked scrod, it was under cooked, and lukewarm when it came to the table, including the baked potato. Definitely not worth the $33 I paid for it. One of my dining companions had the clam chowder, and she said that it was excellent. The restaurant is very large, with a nice deck and outside seating area with a fire pit. Husbands went in to get us a table for four.. waitresses wanted to know if the wives were coming or just leaving.. spoken with attitude! Called ahead and asked about the $.60 happy hour fish bites special... we ordered 12 of them. The fish bites were served just as we joined the table...I asked about the $.60 bites again . Waitress then informed us that was only if you are eating them in the bar. Obviously we were there for the Previously quoted $.60 fish bites as an appetizer prior to our dinner...after the waitress rolled her eyes... she told us she would have to go discuss it with the manager .. however before she did that , she served the table next to us food and took an order from the another table... Five minutes later she went to discuss it with the manager... so we look over , the manager and two of the ladies at the hostess station had to have a big powwow in the middle of the restaurant to decide if they were going to charge us two dollars per piece or the happy hour price for the "golden " fish bites! At this point we decided we had had enough. We left money on the table for the drinks even though we did not drink them ! As we left we told them this place has bad vibes.. as the employees at the hostess station rudely yelled goodbye! Each employee we encountered was rude and had attitude!! The Landfall is a great place to go for lunch or dinner, although with the summer crowds, the place can fill up very fast during dinner time. If you can beat the crowds, you can get seating right on the water, which offers a great view of the bay. The ambiance is very cool with buoys, anchors, lobster traps, and other seafaring items hanging from the rafters. The clam chowder is absolutely delicious. It's creamy, full of clams and potatoes, and definitely homemade. Don't miss it! The lunch/dinner items are standard fare for a Cape Cod restaurant...lobster, steak, fried seafood, etc. Nothing special but all decent quality. read more

My boyfriend and I ate here this past weekend as a treat, and what a treat it was! We sat outside around the communal fireplace, which if you're sitting with friendly strangers, is a really fun experience in meeting new people. We shared a large fruit and cheese platter, which was very filling. My boyfriend got a cheeseburger club and I got the pastrami sliders as main dishes. The one disappointing aspect of my meal was that the sliders were TINY and cost more than my boyfriend's giant burger. However, they were packed with flavor and presumably used high quality pastrami. I would have 1 starred, but the non alcoholic frozen drinks were pretty good. Came in late to a party which had already given their order. By the time it was communicated to us we'd need to get seated and place our own order at another table, there was a supposed 20 min. wait. I think they were short staffed because 1/2 the tables inside were empty. So, not wanting to wait as we had after lunch plans, we went to the bar. Bar staff was quite good, they were busy but managed to serve us drinks in a somewhat reasonable time frame. We placed our order, 2 sandwiches nothing fancy. As we waited other people came into bar, got drinks and ordered food. Then we realized at least 2 of those parties got served before us. 40 min. after ordering the 2 sandwiches we found out they messed up our order, wrong bread on one sandwich, wrong ingredients on other. And both were not served to us even though we were willing to take at least the wrong bread one. We were told they would fix quickly. SO next order came out they brought us 2 of the same sandwich. Bartender took a moment to figure out, then back one of them went.... We were there for over an hour before getting a turkey club and a grilled cheese. Found out at some point the issue was supposedly between the bar and the kitchen over drinks and we got stuck in the crossfire. Made us concerned with the quality of our food, if you know what I mean. Poor business etiquette. Also, one of the hostesses realizing it was us from earlier, the party of two who didn't want to wait to be seated, gave us the stink eye after bartender explained what happened with kitchen order. When we left in a nice tone I said Thank you to the other hostess and she turned around smiling, once she saw who it was she dropped the smile and totally ignored us. We had a great dinner! The food was delicious. It's definitely pricey but you pay for the view. My husband and I shared an appetizer, each had an entree and a glass of wine. The wine and entrees were reasonable (~$30 for a seafood entree in Cape Cod is what I expect to pay), but the appetizer was definitely overpriced ($9 for 6 tiny baked clams - no thanks). Food was excellent. They lose a start for service. We went on a busy holiday weekend night, but our server was definitely distracted. We even had to ask for water! I really enjoy the Landfall, especially the back deck overlooking the water at sunset with a fresh greyhound in hand. Service is good; drinks are sensational and well-priced - the only place I know around Falmouth that makes greyhounds with freshly squeezed grapefruit juice. By far, their clam chowder is their best dish. When I walk my dogs at 6am, I always see their local clam guy dropping off clams harvested that morning. Their lobster dish is too expensive, though. The first thing you see when you walk in is the fantastic decorations, there are hundreds of buoys handing down from the ceiling like ornaments and a stained glass panel to the right. Apparently the whole place was crafted from bits and pieces of stuff from all over the place that they took and recycled to build this restaurant. The food was terrific. The lobster bisque was tasteless and no lobster present. It was now no longer a bowl but 9 dollars for a coffee mug. The clam strips at 19 dollars came on a side plate and were all breading. The clams casino were so tiny and without any flavor other than garlic. Lastly out of desperation we ordered the fish and chips because there really wasn't any food at the 60 dollar mark. The fried clams were so small the kitchen agreed and made another order. The baked stuffed lobster didn't even look like it was big enough to serve.
