Unprofessionalism makes for an awkward store experience. I was here a few weeks back for an exchange. Although the exchange went fine, while I was at the register, the store manager was scolding salesperson for not making his sales numbers and threatened his job if he did not improve. Like really? You have to do that in front of customers? Heard of a breakroom meeting? I was surprised that this kinda thing had to occur in such an inappropraite way in front of customers. I think the managers unprofessionalism created an uncpleasant shopping experience and would feel uncomfortable shopping here again. read more

I agree with another reviewer....good luck getting a sales person to help you in this store. Have a gutted bathroom and need a replacement light fixture. Need Chrome which is not so popular right now or I would just buy from Lowes or Home Depot. They had a nice selection but my husband and I needed to see them lit up and walked to the sales desk and asked if someone could do it. Stood there for a while and never got any help. They seem to be the only place in town with a large selection and they seem to know it. whatever, we walked out. I will shop somewhere else. read more

Positives: Selection is large and diverse. Prices are ok, but shop online and you can do a lot better for the same products. Cons: Watch their so called "sales." They mark prices up the week before so that the sale price is just the normal price. Their customer service leaves a lot to be desired and the sales people are overly aggressive. They work on commission.....and it shows. Summary: It's nice to have a local store as an option, but they could do a lot better and I don't go here unless we are in a bind or need something on the spot. read more

I have built several homes and used lamps plus. They have a good selection and I havent been able to beat their prices. I live about an hour away from this store. I knew my order was in and was driving through town but they were not opened for another hour. While I was shopping at the Lamps Plus store a very handsome statue caught my eye. I could just picture it on my mantle. I only had about $100 cash on me, but I figured I might as well as ask one of the store associates if there was a sale or if I could get a discount on the statue. I really didn't want to leave the store without it. Instead of a "no, I'm sorry" or "that will go on sale in x weeks", I was told, "You're no designer. We only give them discounts." It felt so horribly insulting and unprofessional. This was a store I loved and have spend several hundred dollars in, but the prices of everything have jumped up to the point where you need a small fortune before you walk in the door and the crass staff don't care about their customers. read more

Aaron is awesome!! And so is the manager on duty Sunday March 29th--sorry I didn't catch his name. We came in for one type of lamp--which we didn't like when seeing it in person. Then we saw the perfect lamp for a problem area in our home and both Aaron and his manager took care of us. The lamp was on back order and we wanted it that day. Instead of citing the rules they took care of us. We were so impressed and we will be back and soon. Good variety but a bit cluttered. A sales associate approached us to see if we needed help so we asked if she had a particular pendant light we were looking for by giving her the product name and number we got off the site. Her response was "yea I don't know what you're talking about if you're just giving me that...what does it look like?" The attitude was unnecessary and not helpful. She could have asked if we had a picture so she could better assist us, but instead pointed us in the general direction of where all the pendants are located and walked away. Amazon and Wayfair sell the same products at the same prices but without the attitude and lack of customer service. read more

I was in your store yesterday because of a problem I was having with a track light in my kitchen. The two spotlights on the track were working fine but apparently the transformer for the hanging lamp was defective. At the request of the retired electrician who was helping me, I ordered a new transformer from Amazon and when that didn't seem to be working, I ordered another. That one didn't seem to be working either and the electrician was stumped. I then took the newest transformer and the rest of the hanging lamp to your store to see if anyone could help. Rachelle (sales associate #7406) told me that they didn't have a repair department but asked me what was wrong to see if she could help. It turns out the solution was very simple - the new transformer required a LED bulb, not the halogen bulb that was used for many years. I am soooo happy to have my treasured hanging light (a Murano glass millefiori style) back in working order! Jodi Held at Lamps Plus provides THE BEST customer service. She goes above and beyond. She has great energy, and she just plain knows her stuff. A major pet peeve of mine are people who aren't knowledgeable about their job. You will not have this problem with Jodi. She knows her products and where they're located in that humongous store! I bought a chandelier from her a couple of months ago, and has since, brought a friend to check out lighting for his new home. Tons of lighting options at competitive prices. If you're considering buying a light at one of the big box stores I'd stop by here first to comparison shop. You'll find they have 5x the selection with a variety of price ranges. Sales person was courteous but you do have to hunt one down. I'd strongly suggest going during a weekday versus weekend. Stopped by one weeknight and was in/out in 15 minutes since I knew what I wanted. read more

Called to get some information regarding the energy saver/CFL light bulbs for ceiling fans. The lady who answered sounded very bothered that I asked this question since she was unable to answer some simple specific details of the light bulbs they carry like wattage, lumens, mini or micro based screw bulbs. I asked her if there was someone available that had the answers to the questions (that could be found by looking on the box) I had she abruptly placed me on hold. When she came back on the phone she started to list the details listed on the light bulb box and then after 1 more question for her to elaborate on one of the details, she said "well I do 't know about all that" and pretty much shut down the conversation. I can't say enough about the personal assistance I received from this store, or the quality of merchandise they offer. In the past two months, I've purchased new kitchen pendant light fixtures, 3 new hall light fixtures, a new entry way fixture and assisted my Senior neighbor in purchasing a bedroom chair! Regarding the chair: not only did they have quite an assortment to choose from, but they also have a female employee in the store who will deliver it to your home (locally) for a nominal fee, and then she offered to assemble it from the box as well. She did an excellent job of both and my neighbor and I were most appreciative. As for the light fixtures: they had some instore, and some I had to order via catalog. The store manager who assisted me over phone arranged to have catalog items delivered to my home at no add'l charge. This little bit of personal assistance and savings made my day. This is the type of above the norm assistance I look for that makes me want to tell everyone to frequent this particular store and help keep them all employed. And the pendant lights at my kitchen sink are so different and unique and MAKE the space, that I actually like to linger at the sink and hand wash the dishes just to enjoy the lights!!!! read more

Yesterday, we took a task lamp to Lamps plus to see if they could repair or replace two broken halogen bulbs. The lamp had been a birthday present to my husband last year. I had knocked it over the night before and broken the bulbs. I was blown away when they quickly took the lamp into the back room, replaced the bulbs and took it back out to our car for us (it's sort of heavy and awkward to move). Lamps Plus of Dublin, especially Marilyn, the General Manager, earns a 5 star rating from us! Last week they installed an expensive chandelier at our new home in Danville. The installation was difficult due to the height and slope of our ceiling, the weight of the chandelier, and the complexity of the wiring. Unfortunately there was a technical problem during the installation that required a second installation attempt on another date which was ultimately successful. We want everyone know that the customer service we received from Marilyn was simply spectacular. She assured us that the installation glitch would be taken care of promptly and to our satisfaction. She was right. Then, to our surprise, she offered to significantly reduce the original installation quote to compensate us for any inconvenience we may have experienced. However, we were very pleased with her attitude and helpfulness, and the installation did get done, so of course we insisted on paying the original estimate in full. Thank you Lamps Plus. read more

My home had to be rebuilt following a major house fire last year--a life changing experience that cannot begin to be described! During my search for replacements for just about every material possession I'd previously owned and lovingly collected over many years' time, my contractor suggested I check out the LAMPS PLUS store in Dublin, CA for my lighting fixtures. (Since I live more than 50 miles away, it was a bit of a trek. But, because I have ultimate confidence and trust in my contractor, I made the initial trip...and, then continued going back and back!) First of all, what a great store! So many choices of lighting fixtures PLUS a lot of other fabulous things including great accessories as well a bit of furniture--and, all very well merchandised! Although I dealt with several pleasant associates over multiple visits, I worked mostly with AARON CANEPA. What a knowledgeable, professional and genuinely good guy! Primarily because of AARON'S great service (and long-suffering patience with me :)), I bought--either directly or through my contractor--nearly all of my lighting fixtures from the Lamps Plus store in Dublin, CA--and, all but one fixture was purchased from AARON specifically. Due to no fault of Lamps Plus, I was disappointed with just one product--a set of pendants that were hand crafted and they therefore, understandably, had some aesthetic inconsistencies between the 3 globes. I e-mailed AARON a picture of them and asked him for his suggestion for a solution. (2 of the 3 were close enough that I could have lived with them if necessary...and, I could fairly easily have been persuaded to pay to replace the 1 that bugged me most...) AARON responded immediately and then went FAR beyond my expectations in working with his vendor to replace all 3 globes at no additional cost to me--that is, he ordered 3 new globes so I could select the best 3 of all 6! (He could probably have made several much more profitable sales in the amount of time he took to make me a satisfied customer--THIS IS NO SMALL THING--I also work in retail...I know of what I speak!!!!) So, WOW! This is what I call EXTRAORDINARY customer service! Because of AARON, LAMPS PLUS has earned a customer for life. And, since I'm an 'overachiever', I've already personally brought several friends to the Dublin store & have told many friends including my Facebook community about my great experiences and will continue referring folks to LAMPS PLUS and to AARON CANEPA in particular!! read more

Lamps Plus carries a very large inventory of lighting fixtures, and their prices are quite competitive. The Dublin store has given me good service, and they stand by their products. I just had a problem with a bathroom fixture, at least a year out of warranty. I called our sales person, and he replaced the fixture at no cost. I opted to pay for installation, and they did a fine job and a reasonable price. read more

I bought a standing lamp with two adjustable reading lamps from here. After only a few months it started to have problem. It automatically turns off after you turn it on only a few seconds. Called store...no help because we did not buy their warranty. The service is very bad here. Actually there is no service here. I would not go to this store to buy anything again. read more

Where should I start....They're rude, unprofessional and just plain clueless! I went here last month looking for a replacement bulb that the hardware stores were out of. The nice guy at OSH suggested I go here and that they were open late. I rushed over....around 7:45pm. There was 1 customer at the counter and she was being helped so I stood behind her and waited.....and waited.....and waited. 15 minutes pass and sales reps are wandering past me. I figured they must be very busy. A line forms behind me and a few minutes later a gentlemen whose name I cannot remember now, decides to come help out. However he has no concept of how a line works and starts helping people from the end of the line. I was stunned and attempted to let him know there were others waiting before the people at the end of the line. Sadly the people at the end of the line did not admit there were people that should have been assisted prior to them. I finally get assistance, I show him my burned out bulb and he happily runs into the back room and comes back to tell me he thinks he found a match...."Yes, this one is pretty close...it should fit" So, I have him take it out of the box so we can look side by side. It's not even close. He asks if I would like to just buy it and try it. WTH!!! Who has extra time to buy things and test them and go back and forth. It's a lightbulb and this is a specialty store. He should know better. Horrible service and so unprofessional! read more
