*1/5 Stars - Avoid Ethan Allen at All Costs: $4000 for a Broken Dresser?* I'm writing this review as a warning to others: beware of Ethan Allen's poor quality products and appalling customer service. We spent $4000 on a bedroom set, only to receive a dresser that was severely damaged. The issues include: - Large gouges and scratches on the surface - A busted drawer that doesn't function properly - Peeling wood finish When we complained and sent the dresser back, we expected a hassle-free replacement or refund. Instead, they've repeatedly sent the same broken dresser, ignoring our concerns and gaslighting us into thinking there's nothing wrong with it. It's been incredibly frustrating to deal with this situation, especially given the high cost of the furniture. I'm still left without a complete bedroom set and feel ripped off. Unless you enjoy dealing with broken products and unhelpful customer service, I would strongly advise against shopping at Ethan Allen. read more

Service is horrible for an expensive purchase valued at $3000 per pieces. No chance to return if it doesn't fit.

I would never recommend them based on my experience. They are nice when you are at the store. When you order, you expect them to deliver the item fairly quick. Follow up calls were initially very rude from multiple ladies in the store. With my money in their pocket, the arrogance was too much. They were not able to tell the exact date of delivery. It is always a possible this month or that month kind of answer. If your product is custom, then there is no cancellation. Basically you are stuck with the frustrating experience. Toward the end the lady who placed my initial order behaved better. Just a huge sigh because I got the product in one piece, can't imagine going through their horrible customer care again. I would recommend reading reviews before going to the store. I checked late. Even if they offer a golden furniture, I won't go through it all over again. read more

I cannot believe Ethan Allen is following Sears Roebuck in their demise, noting they were great companies in their time. We have solely purchased our furniture from Ethan Allen in the past because all the furniture was built so well. My wife decided it was time to replace a kitchen table after 25 years of use, even though I didn't want to buy something different because it was completely functional. She purchased a table from Ethan Allen and in less than three years, the table top started to peel. We engaged the store, and they told us it was due to abuse. Three years of washing with water is abuse? I do not blame the store, rather I believe Ethan Allen is struggling as a company and they no longer warranty their product as they are now focused on cost cutting. I am really sad to see what is happening, and caution those of you to be careful when making a purchase from Ethan Allen going forward. Finally, we didn't even look at all the negative reviews on yelp, as we trusted Ethan Allen. Do your research well before you proceed with Ethan Allen going forward. read more

Ordered my custom dining room chairs in July . Paid in full and excited to receive them even though Mary Ann told me it would be December when I would receive them. It is now March and I still don't have chairs ! The dates have changed so may times I have lost count. I have talked to so many managers and no one has been able to get my chairs to me. Only excuses , new warehouse, missing materials , missing a chair on the truck then another said they come 2 in a box .. so how could one be missing?? I thought I would purchase great quality dining room chairs to last a lifetime but apparently I will never find out !!!! I've shopped at other Ethan Allens on the E. Coast, and in my experience, you really need to work with a great designer. Well, we found one with Marianne Arons-Portman. She's a consummate professional. She visited our home and gave us several terrific options for two sofas. Her eye for color and design is exceptional. Due to supply issues (experienced everywhere), she projected a 5 month delivery window. We were in no rush, but were pleasantly surprised when the sofas arrived way ahead of schedule (2 months for leather option and 3 for regular). We have several pieces from EA and have always been pleased with quality and design options. Our stuff has survived countless moves and across the country too. read more

We have purchased a number of considerably expensive items from Ethan Allen. This last purchase was a couch and two recliners. There is a problem with one of the recliners and we have run into brick walls getting the issue resolved. It has been months and we are getting NO RESPONSE. I am so disappointed and frustrated with Ethan Allen. We always thought of them as a higher end store but now realize that they are not interested in customer service AT ALL and we will NEVER purchase from them again. I spent hours at the dublin store. They have a small selection so I needed the designer to show me all the choices for a small kitchen table and four chairs. Since they cannot show real examples of the actual furniture you are reliant on their advice and pictures, small samplings of paint color and type of wood etc. I placed the order which came so very late, but when it arrived the chairs are so large they dont scoot in under the table. Basically they are too big/wide for the table and I should have gotten a much narrower chair. I called the designer and told her... she replied, you never said you wanted the chairs to push in under the table. Are you kidding me. I would assume that everyone out there ordering a kitchen table would expect the chairs to push in under the table. Not the designer in Dublin. She told me to enjoy my chairs for many years. read more

Furniture is alright quality, customer service is complete garbage. I placed an order at the end of May for a bed, and I was told by a designer there that it would be delivered sometime in June, but they put an estimate for June 29th to be safe. With no update, and June 29th past, I was concerned about the order, and had to follow-up myself. They then told me that the bed would be coming during the first week of July. I was a little disappointed that it was coming late, and I had to follow-up with them rather then them calling me as it's just normal customer service to let a customer know that there has been a big delay. I also tried calling the designer first to get an update a few times, but she simply did not respond. In the middle of the first week of July, with no update from the store, I again had to chase after them and call in the store. The receptionist was extremely rude at first, and asked me when my estimate was. I told her first week of July was the new estimate but I hadn't received a call, and she word for word says, "Well it's the first week of the July now isn't it." Had to remind her that they had yet to give me a call and the week was almost over. The lady then gave me a new estimate of July 10th confirmed, and I would be receiving a call from the warehouse. When July 10th came around, I didn't get any call from the warehouse as promised by the store, and no call from the store either. I had to again call into the store to check where my bed was, and now they are telling me to expect it at the end of July. I honestly am a firm believer that none of their furniture is made here, even though they claim it's made in North Carolina. No company that has nearly 5,000 employees, guarantees a delivery date of end of June, and claims it's made in America gets delayed by a month. They are likely sourcing their materials from out of the US if it is taking this damn long to get a bed they claimed was in stock. If I knew I was going to be sleeping on the floor for 2 months I'd have gone with something less premium that I could have gotten in a day or two read more

I wish I had read these reviews before buying Ethan Allen furniture. They tried to deliver the leather sofa we bought three times....due to the extremely poor quality. Finally, we stopped trying. They DO NOT stand behind their product and turnover in the Service department seems to be a problem. We will never buy anything from Ethan Allen again. I couldn't have been any luckier. I had ordered a dining table from another company, and the delivery got messed up - twice. So I went back to Ethan Allen and purchased a table there. While online, I met a Ethan Allen designer, Morgan, who was a true blessing. We had moved from a large home to a smaller home. Morgan helped me pick the pieces from our old home and match them with some beautiful pieces for Ethan Allen. This particular store is tiny for a furniture store, and much smaller than the other Ethan Allen store I've been to in my life (and much smaller than most furniture stores I've ever been to in my life). I'd done research on the website to pick out some possible items, but of course I would want to see them in person before I could determine anything. I assumed a store wouldn't have everything on the website, but I didn't expect a diminutive store that would have only one or two of each category of thing. I went to look at actual furniture. Y'know.... cuz it's a furniture store! The lady who approached us was helpful and offered to show us pieces but after showing one, she took us to a room with counters and screens to show me the website. Well, I've already reviewed every piece of furniture on the website, which is why I'm in the store -- to see them. But every time I asked if they had something in the store, she said no. Out of nine pieces I'd been interested in from the website, they only had one. So I told the lady we'd look around, but then when I left the room for design consultants, I realized I'd already seen the whole place - it was just what you see when you walk in, whereas I'd assumed there were more rooms or sections. A good chunk of the store seems devoted to these very large counters/areas for the design consultants, so I guess Ethan Allen just expects people to go there for that service, and not to actually look at furniture. But I'm certainly not going to decide to buy furniture without actually seeing it first, so this place was a total dud for me. One extra star for the woman trying to be helpful even though the store is a total dud. We'll have to go to a different Ethan Allen store that actually has furniture, which is annoying because we had to make kind of a day trip to get there, and we'll need to devote another weekend day to the same. I understand the store just opened but the overall process needs work. I went into the store weeks ago to look at wallpaper ... the sales lady was nice and said she'll work with the installer to get an estimated quote done for me that included the wallpaper price and install price. Long story short, the sales lady provided me with an incorrect quote on the wallpaper and when I complained that she should try to work with me on pricing as the screw up was going to add more to my overall costs, I got a bit of attitude back. The sales lady assured me she would send me an updated quote of the wallpaper but never did. Needless to say, I won't be going back. I would rather spend my money at places that provide good customer service. read more

I'm sorry to say Ethan Allen customer service is not very good. Especially for charging people with those high prices, you would think they wouldn't be so cheap about every thing. The quality of the furniture is ok, nothing special--I found the same sofa I bought for one third of the price at lamps plus. The designers are just glorified sales agents hunting for commissions. The designer/sales agent who helped me was supposedly one of their top designers and she was very helpful , she just wanted to do the least she could to make a sale. Worst of all they don't have a refund policy. And did I mention it took 3 months to deliver my sofas which wasn't even a special order cloth. We purchased two couches last October. After a few months the fabric started to fray and look "worn". I contacted customer service and they were fantastic. They sent someone to pick up a cushion cover and investigate. It took a while but Ethan Allen is giving us a FULL credit for both couches and will let us get anything else in the store. They really stand behind their product. Customer service is amazing and I'm going shopping today for something else. read more

I guess since their showroom is smaller now they mainly work through catalogs and do not have a lot displayed, but it felt like pulling teeth to get information from them. I recently bought a couch, 2 swivel chairs and a coffee table for my family room. I wouldn't normally go to this store. However, I had purchased a leather chair I really liked and felt that the family room gets a lot of wear and tear and wanted quality furniture. Its been a nightmare. Firstly, all the furniture took months to get. Which with covid is totally understandable and I was not in any hurry. But the delivery service has been horrendous. All the pieces have been delivered separately. I got the couch without much of an issue. But when it was time to get the swivel chairs, I got an email stating the driver would call me 20 minutes before delivery. I never got a call. Luckily I was in the area and not far away. But how frustrating. I wanted to be home, look at the furniture, check to make sure it was correct and in good condition. Before this, I knew the chairs were in and at the warehouse. But they couldn't schedule my delivery because they moved their warehouse to a new location. That delayed the delivery by weeks. I was furious with the driver and the delivery department. Contacted the store mgr, my sales person and the delivery department mgr. Of course, nothing happens, changes or improves. Now my coffee table is in. Great. I schedule the delivery date and they want to run my credit card that they had on file. It declines. Not once but twice. I try another card, that declines. Then I try another card and that one goes through. I called my banks and there was nothing wrong with any of my cards. The mgr of the delivery department tried to pass it off as my issue. It was their credit card system. I will never buy any more furniture from Ethan Allen. Horrible service, no accountability and their prices are very expensive. Don't shop here. read more

Just want to start by thanking Victoria Neunkirch for taking the time to educate my husband and I on all the different couch/sectional options available at Ethan Allen. We were definitely impressed with the quality and selection of products the store provides. After leaving the store we went home and decided that we just aren't ready to spend that much money on a couch at this time. I have no doubt that the quality of the product would merit the extra expense, however we just didn't think we were quite ready to take on that kind of investment. We are certainly going to keep Ethan Allen in mind for our future furniture needs. read more

The interior designer that I met with was extremely experienced and detail oriented, her design skills were amazing and she really knew how to make my house shine with a great plan. I haven't found this level of interior design knowledge anywhere else. If I could say zero stars I would. A bunch of snobs there. My husband went in wanting to purchase furniture but I assume he's not he type of client they want. I guess they don't like tattoos. Very bad customer service. I phone ordered a bed side table a few month ago to add to my classic british collection in my room. The designer asked me to describe the hardware color on my current pieces and she said it's antique brass so she ordered it. when this piece came, the hardware color is not what I have for my other pieces in my room. So I called the store to report this problem and sent the pictures of the new piece and my current piece. The lady said she will have to send in the service request and her operation manager will go from there. It's been 1 month, I got no updates at all. A few email sent with no response. So I called in again to ask for the service request status and asked to talk to the store manager. First of all, they can't locate my request and needed a few minutes to search on this and didn't let me talk to the store manager. Second of all, they called me back saying I will have to pay for $10 a piece for the hardware and the keyholes on the piece can't be replaced!!!!!! I wonder how this company can last this long with this kind of service. Be aware on the customer service if you ever want to order anything from Ethan Allen. Furniture quality is good. Just the service is lousy. read more
