Chicken tender meal
Kristi S.

Oh so good! I'll either have to catch them just right or be prepared to wait because this place is really popular! And the weight can be very long sometimes. Today we walked right in and we're promptly seated. We were met with road rolls before we even had a chance to look at our menu! Then we had fried okra on the table before we could make our food decisions. What are the fried pork chops today because they looked so delicious. The kids ordered roast beef and a hamburger and my husband got chicken tenders. I have to say the tenders were phenomenal! Coleslaw was delicious!

Not the best chicken fried steak they've served me but the okra helped!!

It's still an adventure and worth the experience but I can't quite place what was wrong this time. I felt like the chicken fried steak was actually a frozen food item vs the freshly made version I've had in the past. Still hard to beat for the price and all the freebies add-ons. And rolls are still hot and throwed!!! Enjoy head on a swivel!

The food was quick and hot. The fried okra and rolls were so good. Fantastic. The server was awesome.

Such a good vibe, love the hot rolls. The seasoning is bland for the fried batter. The environment is great and staff are so friendly, would recommend for friends or family hangout. The gift shop is cool too! Bought magnets and coffee mugs.

Hog Jowl, white beans, and sweet potatoes Plus pass around-fried potatoes and onions

Lamberts is an absolute must anytime you are in the area! It is one of the funnest and delicious places to go. We arrived about 11:30 on a Saturday and were able to get right in, but be warned, that isn't always the case. They have a line waiting inside and out any later and every day! The staff are always smiling and pleasant. The food is always hot and delicious! The first thing they are know for are the rolls...they throw them to you! Be ready to catch hot, fluffy rolls when they come out. You just raise your hands and they will throw it right to you. Then there are the pass around...amazing! Fried okra, fried potatoes and onions (favorite), macaroni and tomatoes, sorghum, apple butter, and blackeyed peas. They come around with the pass around throughout your whole meal and you can get as much as you want! Now for the main course, there are so many options. This day we got the hog jowl with white beans and sweet potatoes, the chicken wings with white beans and coleslaw, and a kids chicken tenders with fries and mashed potatoes. The portions are huge and always have left overs. It is a very busy place, lots of staff moving, but they are very good at working around and not being in anyone's way. It is a very organized chaos (in a great way)! It does get a little loud, but that is part of the experience and fun. There is also a gift shop you can visit and get your Lamberts gear like their giant cups, shirts, and toys.

This is a must stop if you are in the area. This place is all about the ambiance! It's a charming southern feeling restaurant. If you leave hungry or without leftovers you did something wrong. It's fun to try the extra sides. The fried okra is a family favorite! Our server was wonderful making sure each of the extra sides was offered to us and that our cup was always full. It's just an experience with the throwing of the rolls.

When in the area, my mother always requests that we make a special stop at Lambert's Cafe in the Ozark or "home of the throwed rolls". We arrived right at opening time and there was already a line of people waiting to get in on the patio outside. We were in the middle of the line but we seated promptly at a booth in the dining area. The restaurant is decorated with lots of memorabilia including signs, pictures, photos and license plates. There is lots of visual stimuli inside. The employees are dressed in costume and are extremely friendly when they interact with you. They are known for their rolls that are baked fresh and are very soft and buttery. Some interesting facts, they averaged baking 520 dozen rolls per day, for a grand total of 2,246,400 individual rolls. The best part is you call for a roll and the bread boy will throw the roll to you and you have to catch it. I always special request their apple butter because that is my favorite spread for the roll. They also bring around sorghum molasses. When you order from their massive menu, you get to experience their pass around sides where servers stop by your table and bring unlimited helpings of macaroni and tomatoes, fried potatoes and onions, fried okra and black-eyed peas. I ordered the chicken with green beans and collard greens. I asked for an au jus sauce for the chicken which they accommodated. Other people in our party ordered the chicken fried steak, one with gravy and one without with carrots, peaches, green beans and mashed potatoes. The serving sizes are humongous and with all you can eat pass around sides, you will never leave hungry. There were a lot of leftovers. Always a fun dining experience when coming to Lamberts cafe with friendly service.

Pot pie

Four stars for the thrown rolls! The rolls are made in house and served fresh from the oven! They are amazing and I could eat so many of them! There's a chill, homey vibe to Lambert's. I ordered the pot pie with yams and corn. And it was good. Nice and simple pot pie. The fried okra that they walk around and offer is really tasty. Definitely enjoyed that along with the rolls. Always a fun trip at Lambert's

Penny press for the win!

Solid five stars here. It's unique with the thrown rolls and it's nostalgic with the decor but the food is absolutely delicious, portions are HUGE and service was friendly and fast! I feel like they're doing everything right here. I had the country fried steak served with two sides of my choice (candied yams and collard greens) with a generous scoop of mashed potatoes on top of the steak smothered in white gravy. I haven't had country fried steak in a long time and it was sooo good. Reminded me of my southern grandma's Sunday dinners. Hubs got the pot roast and loved it. He inhaled it with his sides. They also come around with other sides like potatoes and fried okra and stewed tomatoes. Yummmmm. The fresh, hot bread rolls are gigantic and served with apple butter which was sooo good I bought some to take home. They're fast so this was an easy road trip stop for a delicious meal. Cute gift shop, friendly folks and a penny press! Win!

We were in Branson last week and stopped at Lambert's for dinner. A member of our group had been to Lambert's before so we had a big breakfast and skipped lunch because we knew lots of food. I ordered chicken and dumpling with green beans and sweet potatoes. Before ordering we were offered hot, fresh rolls (tossed to you or for the less adventurous handed to you) and fried okra (just put a paper towel down for them). After our food arrived we were offered additional "pass arounds" like black eyed peas, fried potatoes and macaroni and tomatoes. Did I mention a continued flow of big, hot yeast rolls? All of our food was hot, fresh and nicely seasoned and service was fast and efficient ( I can't remember the name of the young lady who served us). Lambert's Cafe was an outstanding place for dinner and we look forward to going back in the future.

Service was excellent as usual, food was delish and atmosphere was homey. It was a miracle that there was no wait to get in this time! We love catching a roll since that what they're famous for. We usually stop here on our way to Brandon but this time we stopped on our way home. They opened up a little campground next door so that was interesting.

Great food, huge portions, and very fun experience! The throwed rolls made it extra unique. Friendly staff and lively atmosphere. Definitely worth it!

Huge beverage cups!

I liked how it was decorated. While the restaurant is over 80 years old it didn't feel old and dirty. I didn't use the restroom but my husband did and said the men's room was clean. The place was packed and a little loud but not overly loud. Shortly after being seated, a young man was walking around with a cart full of rolls. If you put your hands up, he "throwed" one at you. They were warm and HUGE. Plenty of butter on the table. There were three other people walking around offering a scoop of something extra. One girl had fried okra, the second had macaroni and tomatoes, the third had friend potatoes with little slices of onion. I really liked the potatoes and onion. My husband ordered the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and white gravy. I order the chicken pot pie, and my mom just order a tray for sides. Husband liked his meal, I didn't care for mine, and my mom was ok with hers. The portions were HUGE. I'm sure I would've liked something different because my husband says I'm never going to find the chicken pot pie I'm looking for since Cracker Barrel took the one off the lunch special several years ago Overall, this place was pretty good.l and I would suggest if you're ever in the area.

Hot throwed rolls! Yes they do throw them to you and they are hot!

I have visited this place several times now and always been impressed... until tonight…read more It was a Saturday night. It was 8pm, 2 hours before closing and an hour before the kitchen closed. We were promptly greeted and seated as always. We were then immediately greeted by the server, Austin, who made it very clear his mission was to get us in and out promptly. He immediately asks if we knew what we wanted to drink. Mind you we literally just sat down. I told him we would look at the menu but we'd like some bread and oil to start with. He came back for our drink order after just a minute or two and then immediately asked for our food order. Mind you we haven't even hit the 5-6 min mark yet. It was quite clear we were being rushed. So we hurried and gave him our food order. But because I was already perturbed, no drinks were ordered. Now mind you I almost always get a bottle or two of wine. (one of the main reasons we go there is the wine selection) Our server Austin returned after about five minutes with our food. Getting our food so quickly was a surprise. However, still no bread and oil so I reminded him. Which he admitted he forgot. The food was lukewarm at best and had no flavor. We waited for a few minutes for Austin to return so we could ask for salt and Pepper only for him "this time" to suddenly disappear. So I got up and asked the bartenders for salt and pepper. The food was bland and the serving size was half of what we usually get there. When Austin finally returned with the bread and oil, the bread was cold. No attempt at heating it or toasting it. It was literally a roll of French bread, cut into slices, and then some oil thrown in. We were hungry so we ate our dinners. Austin returned as soon as he saw we were done eating to take our plates and asked if we would like any desserts. I made a comment. I don't want any desserts if they taste like our dinner. He then grabbed our plates and walked away, staring at me the entire time. He then immediately brought our tab, which was $79 for two plates of half full pasta dishes, one iced tea and a cold French bread. I have been there several times before to where the service was outstanding, the food delicious, and the atmosphere great. But this was quite disheartening especially at being a Saturday night. I almost always order a bottle or two of wine plus an after dinner cocktail. Because of the way I was made to feel and how bad the food was. I decided not to stay and left almost immediately after my dinner. Especially since it was made so clear we weren't necessarily welcomed to stay. One thing I've always found kind of catchy about the place. Is they serve your water in old retired liquor glasses. Both glasses of water they brought still had the sticky residue left on them. Which was more of an agitation after the night we had. Again, overall, the previous experiences will allow me to go back again. But this experience needed to be heard.

My sister and I dined outside which reminded me of a cafe on the street in Paris. We both ordered the salmon salad. It did take some time for our order to arrive but it was well worth it. The salmon was cooked to perfection. The salad was fresh and flavorful. The waitress was very attentive with refills on iced tea and cold water in jars for the table. Everyone we came into contact with was very helpful and friendly. We will definitely be back!

I waited for a very long time for my mango tea which was strange that a drink took that long. It was fruity and refreshing just took awhile to get to me. Our food was all very good. That arrived much quicker than the drink. Spinach dip was excellent. Fried green tomatoes weren't as hot as they could have been but still good. I just got Mac and cheese and a Caesar salad. Mac and cheese was mediocre. Caesar salad was excellent. Loved the baked Parmesan crunchies in it. The other dishes our party got were pretty good. Nothing was super hot which was a little disappointing. Dessert was a crostini with homemade Carmel ice cream and that was amazingly good!
