Pandan leaf cake aka banh bo nuong. This place does it right. I believe it's all they sell cause I didn't see anything else. But they do it the best. Perfect texture on the top. Just the right amount of sweetness and pandan flavor. Great item for a potluck

You can't beat the value and portions for this pandan cake.... they will slice it for you as well. $10 for a whole cake! Service was quick and friendly, and they accept cash only. Definitely bring this to your next potluck or eat it at home all by yourself, because that's how easy it is to eat. :) Parking is on the streets in the neighborhood and there are a few spots in the lot that are shared with other businesses. Not much ambience, but it's a small storefront that's strictly takeout and feels very homey.

*Cash and take-outs only! I did not know that Echo Park has this gem for Vietnamese pastries! They have a decent size parking lot that they share with other stores, and they open from 6 am, so parking will not be an issue. In addition, the owner was sweet and kind. I got there around 9 am and got their pandan honeycomb cake and madeleine. You can order the pandan cake in pieces or as a whole cake. I recommend getting the whole cake because it's that delicious! The pandan cake didn't taste too sweet, so it made it more addictive for me. Moreover, I also loved the texture- it was bouncy, soft, and chewy. It's different from a sponge cake. On the other hand, the madeleine was quite good, sweeter than the pandan cake, and the texture was spongy but soft. My favorite, however, is still pandan cake. The price is also very affordable, around $10 for a whole pandan cake and $4 for eight pieces of madeleine. It's hard to beat that in LA! If you are used to overly sweet desserts, you might not appreciate/enjoy these types of pastries. Apart from the pandan cake, other pastries are not always available. So, if you want to try their other pastries, it will be best to get here early or call them ahead to order!

In a rapidly changing Echo Park there are still some things that have stood the test of time and Lam Way is one of them. Actually the whole little strip mall it's located in seems to be like an old relic. Anyways, this place is super small you walk in and you're surrounded by delicious pandan honeycomb cakes, they'll ask if you need it sliced and then $10 later you're off! The lady working here was incredibly sweet, spoke Mandarin, English, Vietnamese and was an all around darling. I've never tried anything else from here as I'm always craving the cake. Cash only. Perfect for a picnic or to sneak into a movie treat. No idea how it keeps bc it usually consumed within two hours. Never leave EP, Lam Way!

I was hoping they would have other goodies but they only sell pandan leaf cake. It was my first time trying and the cake had a slight sweetness from the coconut and the texture was soft. I really enjoyed it and definitely recommend to try at least once!

My absolute favorite spot for the Pandan Honey comb cakes. Bombbbbbbb! They come out hot and fresh, made every morning. Walking in you are slapped in the face (in a good way) with this amazing aroma of coconut and pandan. Makes you drool as you wait for your goodies to be bagged. They're so soft, chewy, airy, and flavorful. So much textures and fun going in in your mouth all at once. Definitely give this mom and pop shop a try. You will not be disappointed. Andddddd did i mention that it's super affordable!? Only $6 for a whole fresh, warm, pandan cake!

Personally, I don't like that style, I was hoping the original would change that for me! Long story short, I didn't like the Walnut Chocolate Chip. I personally just don't like that style still, so I'll chalk it up as a "me" problem. The cooked part was good. The Rocky Road was cooked through. It was an amazing baked good with good flavor and add-ins. Between the roasted almond slices and fudgey chocolate chips, I was enjoying it immensely. A highlight of my day for sure. Based on my memories, this LA location keeps it consistent with a similar taste and texture as the NY location. 3.5/5 Chocolate Chip Walnut: This cookie was tall and slightly undercooked in the middle. The middle was a bit on the squishy side, and crunchy on the outside. Due to the undercooked quality, it's not a cookie I'd get regularly, though I am a big chocolate chip cookie fan. 5/5 Rocky Road: This was delicious. I'm not usually a marshmallow fan, but the addition of this ingredient formed a nice chewy consistency that I expect from a cookie. Chocolatey tidbits were well melted into the cookie texture and produced some fudgey notes. The cookie sizes are large and potentially shareable, and feel like an every once in awhile treat.

It's like a fancy filet o fish without the soggy bun, packed with amazing fried fish and tarter sauce. Downside is that I first tried the fish panini years ago and it was a bit better then, but it's still good currently. Other pastries I've tried here have been pretty good. They had some various buns with mochi inside, and those were great. Another one of my fave is their mentaiko salt bun. Great flavor, though I wish they would stuff the thing with more mentaiko. Their curry breads are good too. I took my daughter here and she got one with cute emoji drawn on, and she said the custard filling and the bread was tasty as well. I got a sausage bbang, a chocopie, and a dalgona latte. The sausage bbang was soggy on the bottom and honestly tasted like it was from the day before. The chocopie barely had any filling, just a thin layer of marshmallow and jam. It honestly felt like they used most of the marshmallow for their Dubai choco cookie because it's probably more profitable, instead of properly filling the chocopie. If that's the case, it's better not to sell it at all than serve something like that. The dalgona latte was also disappointing. With ice, the drink only filled to the bottom third line of the cup marking. Clearly, they skimped on the milk. There was also a weird moment when I paid. My total was $15.25 and I paid cash, but I was given $4.75 in change. When I said it should be $5, she seemed confused and asked what I meant. I told her I literally gave you a quarter right now, and she questioned it before eventually giving me the correct change. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt and assume it was a mistake. I understand times are hard, but charging more for products that clearly had corners cut doesn't sit right with me. It just comes across like there's no integrity. Clearly the quality and portions are going downhill. I wasn't even planning on writing this review. I was going to stay quiet, but the chocopie really ticked me off. I'm not going to pay for food that skims on ingredients and shortchanges customers by charging more for less, so this will be my last visit.
