You can't beat the value and portions for this pandan cake.... they will slice it for you as well. $10 for a whole cake! Service was quick and friendly, and they accept cash only. Definitely bring this to your next potluck or eat it at home all by yourself, because that's how easy it is to eat. :) Parking is on the streets in the neighborhood and there are a few spots in the lot that are shared with other businesses. Not much ambience, but it's a small storefront that's strictly takeout and feels very homey.

*Cash and take-outs only! I did not know that Echo Park has this gem for Vietnamese pastries! They have a decent size parking lot that they share with other stores, and they open from 6 am, so parking will not be an issue. In addition, the owner was sweet and kind. I got there around 9 am and got their pandan honeycomb cake and madeleine. You can order the pandan cake in pieces or as a whole cake. I recommend getting the whole cake because it's that delicious! The pandan cake didn't taste too sweet, so it made it more addictive for me. Moreover, I also loved the texture- it was bouncy, soft, and chewy. It's different from a sponge cake. On the other hand, the madeleine was quite good, sweeter than the pandan cake, and the texture was spongy but soft. My favorite, however, is still pandan cake. The price is also very affordable, around $10 for a whole pandan cake and $4 for eight pieces of madeleine. It's hard to beat that in LA! If you are used to overly sweet desserts, you might not appreciate/enjoy these types of pastries. Apart from the pandan cake, other pastries are not always available. So, if you want to try their other pastries, it will be best to get here early or call them ahead to order!

In a rapidly changing Echo Park there are still some things that have stood the test of time and Lam Way is one of them. Actually the whole little strip mall it's located in seems to be like an old relic. Anyways, this place is super small you walk in and you're surrounded by delicious pandan honeycomb cakes, they'll ask if you need it sliced and then $10 later you're off! The lady working here was incredibly sweet, spoke Mandarin, English, Vietnamese and was an all around darling. I've never tried anything else from here as I'm always craving the cake. Cash only. Perfect for a picnic or to sneak into a movie treat. No idea how it keeps bc it usually consumed within two hours. Never leave EP, Lam Way!

I was hoping they would have other goodies but they only sell pandan leaf cake. It was my first time trying and the cake had a slight sweetness from the coconut and the texture was soft. I really enjoyed it and definitely recommend to try at least once!

My absolute favorite spot for the Pandan Honey comb cakes. Bombbbbbbb! They come out hot and fresh, made every morning. Walking in you are slapped in the face (in a good way) with this amazing aroma of coconut and pandan. Makes you drool as you wait for your goodies to be bagged. They're so soft, chewy, airy, and flavorful. So much textures and fun going in in your mouth all at once. Definitely give this mom and pop shop a try. You will not be disappointed. Andddddd did i mention that it's super affordable!? Only $6 for a whole fresh, warm, pandan cake!

GAME CHANGER!!!! If you are in the area and looking for a dessert or something sweet, visit this mom and pop shop!! Best pandan cakes ever and friendly service

I was tempted by the glaring reviews, and took a Lyft from downtown here. It's kind of far.. Got all the 4 kinds of the bakery goods for a total of 12 dollars. The price was good, but none of the cakes was very tasty. The pandan cake was lack of flavors, and the rest were coconut flavored but we could hardly tell any traits of coconut. Also, the bakery does not have any sitting area. Nor do they sell any drinks. The nearby Eightfold Cafe, 4 minutes by walk, has nice offerings where I tried the cakes right away. Ha.. For folks who said highly of this bakery, I'd suggest a trip to Singapore when you get a chance. Try the moist, fluffy and light pandan chiffon cake from Bengawan Solo, recently bestowed at Singapore's national cake, at Takashimaya or the airport, then you will see what I meant. :-)

We went on a weekday around 11am and there was still a good selection of pastries, but sadly some were sold out already. elderflower rhubarb danish (4.5/5): one of their brunch specials and it was delightfully tart but sweet at the same time. the flavors really balanced each other out. passion fruit cruffin (4.8/5): my favorite from this visit. you can really taste the passion fruit and it was tart and sweet but not too sweet. very balanced flavor. if anything I wish they had added more passion fruit. garlic chive knot (4/5): another one of their brunch specials. also pretty good but I just wish there was more garlic and chives. the flavor was more mild than I'd prefer but it was still good. parking: small parking lot but there is street parking options available. seating: good amount of outdoor seating I think shared with the rest of the plaza but it wasn't too busy when I went. **when adding an update to my 2025 review I accidentally removed the original pastry photo from then so I had to add it back in **

Tofu Cloud Croissant Toast -cream on top was pretty salted, to help balance the caramelized sugar that helps press the croissant into a toast. Overall, it wasn't wasn't bad but wasn't good and slightly too salted. Passionfruit Croiffin- texture of the croissant/muffin was great! Buttery, flaky and light. Passionfruit cream filling wasn't too sweet. I loved the tart passionfruit seeds. But you might want to scoop some out if you don't enjoy too much sourness. Elderflower Rhubarb Danish - way too crunchy, would prefer it to be crispy instead of a crunch. Filling was good, not too sweet. Black Sesame Parisian Flan -if you love black sesame, this would be right up your alley. Perfect sweet treat to bring to any auntie's home! Blueberry Tea Scone -not too dense. Surprisingly not too sweet even with the demerara sugar coating. It wasn't really crunchy but more sticky and caramelized from sitting.

I got a sausage bbang, a chocopie, and a dalgona latte. The sausage bbang was soggy on the bottom and honestly tasted like it was from the day before. The chocopie barely had any filling, just a thin layer of marshmallow and jam. It honestly felt like they used most of the marshmallow for their Dubai choco cookie because it's probably more profitable, instead of properly filling the chocopie. If that's the case, it's better not to sell it at all than serve something like that. The dalgona latte was also disappointing. With ice, the drink only filled to the bottom third line of the cup marking. Clearly, they skimped on the milk. There was also a weird moment when I paid. My total was $15.25 and I paid cash, but I was given $4.75 in change. When I said it should be $5, she seemed confused and asked what I meant. I told her I literally gave you a quarter right now, and she questioned it before eventually giving me the correct change. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt and assume it was a mistake. I understand times are hard, but charging more for products that clearly had corners cut doesn't sit right with me. It just comes across like there's no integrity. Clearly the quality and portions are going downhill. I wasn't even planning on writing this review. I was going to stay quiet, but the chocopie really ticked me off.
