They have a decent size parking lot that they share with other stores, and they open from 6 am, so parking will not be an issue. In addition, the owner was sweet and kind. I got there around 9 am and got their pandan honeycomb cake and madeleine. You can order the pandan cake in pieces or as a whole cake. I recommend getting the whole cake because it's that delicious! The pandan cake didn't taste too sweet, so it made it more addictive for me. Moreover, I also loved the texture- it was bouncy, soft, and chewy. It's different from a sponge cake. On the other hand, the madeleine was quite good, sweeter than the pandan cake, and the texture was spongy but soft. My favorite, however, is still pandan cake. The price is also very affordable, around $10 for a whole pandan cake and $4 for eight pieces of madeleine. It's hard to beat that in LA! If you are used to overly sweet desserts, you might not appreciate/enjoy these types of pastries. Apart from the pandan cake, other pastries are not always available. Lam Way is basically where all the Banh Bo nuong is baked and then distributed to all the local grocery stores and sandwich shops to resell. If you're in the area and early enough you'll be able to buy some piping fresh out of the oven ones. That's their main item, but they do carry a couple more things like the taco xoi. Cost is $10 for a circular 9-10in cake size Bo Nuong. Their hours are listed for 11:30 am or noon, but once they have been known to close before that. Actually the whole little strip mall it's located in seems to be like an old relic. The door was still locked when I got there, but thankfully, the business owner across from them was kind enough to tell me to knock and they let me in! I was immediately hit with a thick smell of pandan, coconut, and egg (like the "eggy" smell you get when baking sponge cakes). There were three people already there ready to help! The business owners seem multitalented and speak English, Vietnamese, Mandarin Chinese and Cantonese, so take your pick and ask if you need introduction to these deserts. They supply a lot of the Vietnamese snack shops in SGV with a few different snacks, however I feel like their cake is the standout; I've tried other versions, but this place seems to do the best with making it chewy, moist, not too dense, caramelised outside. The posted hours are approximate; they're open at 6am, but I recommend you call for closing time. The yelp number is accurate. I called once and they said they'd be open until at least 2pm that day. I was tempted by the glaring reviews, and took a Lyft from downtown here. It's kind of far.. Got all the 4 kinds of the bakery goods for a total of 12 dollars. The price was good, but none of the cakes was very tasty. The pandan cake was lack of flavors, and the rest were coconut flavored but we could hardly tell any traits of coconut. Also, the bakery does not have any sitting area. Nor do they sell any drinks. The nearby Eightfold Cafe, 4 minutes by walk, has nice offerings where I tried the cakes right away. Ha.. For folks who said highly of this bakery, I'd suggest a trip to Singapore when you get a chance. Call ahead, hours will vary based on their demand. It's not a bakery that you go to relax and drink a coffee with your baked goods, you bring cash and you decide how many pandan cakes you want, and then you get back in your car and eat it in the driver's seat. I loved the ones I get from the grocery store, but these ones from the bakery are so fresh and delicious. Slight crispiness on the outside combined with the chewiness inside, makes me so happy. There's another reviewer here that recommends you eat something from Singapore and compare to this place. I'm obsessed with this cake. I probably don't know which Asian groceries to go to but I can never find it, so I had to find the motherland. Last year I tried it when a friend gave me some and I couldn't stop thinking about it. I found it and my life is complete (I know, I'm being dramatic). It was originally sold out (by 9:30am) / on its way to being delivered, but chatted up w/ Lucy in Chinese, telling her their pandan is the best, and magically, she busted out her special stash that she was about to take to her daughter's school event, but generously offered it to me. #YES. Lucy said to call her a day in advance for any order, so she'll not sell it out. They sell buttery Madeline's and other Vietnamese sweets, but I never paid attention, besides their pandan cake. They are sold at most Asian markets all over L.A., you'll know b/c of their sticker on the package. The store is small, quite a bit of clutter, definitely not a bakery you hang about.
